[Q] Volume rocker makes beeping sound - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
My N5 makes a beep when I silence an incoming call with the volume rocker.
I am guessing this is a KitKat feature since it never happened on my N4 until I upgraded to 4.4
Does anyone have a workaround?
Thanks
Jutin

I noticed this too, coming from gnex, but I don't think it can be fixed without a system update.

Solved!
Couldn't wait for a system upgrade.
Gravitybox solved the issue.
Cheers

It seems to be fixed in 4.4.2!

In call volume too loud

I am annoyed lately that whenever I get a phone call the volume of the person speaking is so gd loud. I turn in all volume all the way down and its still too loud. Anyone have any idea why this is and if there is a way I can fix it..

I have the same problem... Also had problem on the DINC. What you can do is go into the call settings and turn on hearing aids and that will actually help with the volume it lowers it a little...
Don't ask me why but this is an issue with the HTC's
Have you tried downloading audio manager from the market? Its a free app that allows you to change volume settings and for me it has been more accurate than the built in sound settings.

I have tried that and it did not seem to help as much as turning on hearing aids.
I think is not loud enough. I find myself trying to turn it up after is all the way up.

too loud
I am having the same problem on my rooted Thunderbolt.... any ideas how to fix it other than turning it all the way up on a call then turn the volume down? kinda gets annoying..
I agree, the call volume is very loud even though I have the volume turned all the way down. Doesn't bother me too much though...
If you're using BAMF by any chance...
I had the same problem on BAMF Remix. After flashing the patch to remove the call recorder, it has been working perfectly.
flash a differnet kernel. some have an audio "enhancment"
where can I find this? I would like to try it. =)

Whenever I have this problem, I turn it up all of the way and then turn it back down. Works every time.
volume
I flashed the new kernal 4.4.6 with no recorder this morning and it fixed my problem!! I am so happy!!
I also flashed the non recorder version and that cured my way too loud volume. Now I don't have to hold it 3 feet from my ear so I don't go deaf.
Can someone post a link to the patch for removing call recorder please? I find the in call volume way too loud. I've searched through a few hundred pages of different BAMF posts and haven't been able to find the patch.

it's in the first few posts for adrynalyne's froyo kernels (one of his posts).
So do I just install one of his kernels that doesn't have support for call recorder? I still can't find a separate patch to actually remove call recorder. I just want to lower the call volume.
I didn't need to flash anything under the current version of das BAMF. The call volume was way too loud, so I went to das BAMF toolkit, application settings, and removed call recorder.
Problem solved.

Droid Charge speaker stopped working randomly

Has this happened to anyone else? When I turn the volume all the way up I hear a faint sound coming from the speaker and it's very tinny. It started happening about 3 weeks ago out of the blue. I don't think it's the kernel or rom I have running, I've flashed 3 new roms since then and I'm running Humble 5.0
The phone is running the best it's ever have, but still no luck with the speaker!
Thanks for the help.

[Q] Blasting loud receiver volume on calls (CM10)

I am using CM10.
Does anyone know of an app to reduce the volume of the receiver (the person talking) on the S3? I think I read this is a known issue on CM10 ("stable" release). It's ridiculous. It's like it's on speakerphone.
There is no setting to enhance volume that I could uncheck - or anything related. At this point, I am just thinking I need an app to cut the volume until the Cyanogen people figure out a way to fix it. Using the volume rocker barely changes it.
(Other than this, I love CM10 but I might have to go back to stock just to drop this volume!)
ive got the same issues using CM10 stable on my Telus SGS3 (i747m).
Would love to be able to reduce the speakerphone volume, but there is no way at the moment. Anyone know anything about this? Even the CM team?

Well, I'm facing exactly the same issue. It is quite strange. If I record a video on my phone, and then play it, the sound would come from earpiece (front speaker) instead of rear speakers. And after that, the ringtone (on incoming calls), video playback sounds will keep on coming from the front speaker (earpiece). I do not know whether it is a hardware issue or a software issue. Can someone confirm it?
My phone (S3) has JB 4.1.1. I do not know whether Jelly Bean update is causing this issue or not, coz when I bought this phone, it was already upgraded to JB.
Can someone who has upgraded his phone to JB confirm it? Are these kind of issues related to hardware or software?
And well to fix it on temporary basis, what I did was I made call from some other number to my phone (One S), the sound/ringtone was coming from earpiece. After making this call, I went to Sound settings (in HTC one S) and re selected the ring tone and it solved the issue. Now the ringtone and other sounds are coming from rear speakers. If the issue is not resolved after re selecting the ring tone, do one thing, flip your phone and make call again to your phone, reject it, and then again select some ringtone for your phone, hopefully it'll resolve your issue on temporary basis. I also tried that (though the option "flip for speaker" is not selected in my phone).
It seems only few handsets have this issue. :S ?
Anyway if anyone else is facing the same issue, let us know here, so we can discuss about it.

Hello,
I have the same problem. Sometimes, my sound get crazy and it can be hear from front speaker, except from back speaker.
After that, I have to do a restart and it's OK, but that's annoying.
VilleC2, it happens after JB update.

In-call audio very low, says call recipients

Hi all
Since upgrading to 12.1 Cyanogen OS, people are complaining that the in-call volume is very low and "sounds like you stand at the bottom of a lake".
I am not sure whether this could be fixed by flashing another modem, or if there is another advice - but any ideas are welcomed. Can you help?
Try this:

Thanks - will do.
I have the same issue. I think my phone is faulty
