So I noticed that I was having a slight battery drain by the infamous "Android OS" when I checked the battery stats. I went to download wakelock detector to figure out specifically where the drain was coming from and noticed it's not actually compatible with 4.4. Is there any other app that can help me figure out what exactly is causing the "Android OS" drain?

The Kitkat version is not in the Play Store yet, only pre-kitkat versions. Kitkat broke the way battery info was collected, so all battery apps are having to change. The Beta of the new betterbatterystats which will run on kitkat is available from the main betterbatterystats thread:

hey there,
i just installed the franco kernel and i've noticed that the vibration has been set to 100 instead of 63, nothing wrong with it.
but here is the main question: can this damage the device after long term of use?
(i could not post this in the official post from the kernel because i am a new member to this)
your sincerely,

Its just a motor but I suppose technically it could wear out faster but I wouldn't expect to see that within the lifetime of the device

hmh, if it doesn't die in the next 2 years i would be happy, but there's only one way to find out. And otherwise i could replace the motor right? (newb questions approaching...)

Sure you could, assuming you could find the right part. This phone is easy to take apart and fix.
I've been experiencing some funky behavior with my )LTE and H+ . sometimes not receiving calls or text for hours at a time and the finally receiving the text 2 to 3 hours later. Idk how to tell which radio I have currently or how to switch them. Anyone have the answer ?

While rootSU is correct, and it tells you how to update in the sticky, that stick is not the best (lots missing) regarding the OPs question.
Also, users would find it more helpful if you provided a link to the thread you refer too, so please try provide a link to the said sticky, but I will guess that you mean this one?...
[FAQ] [REF]★ All you need to know about Android | Read this before you post/root !
As it does not tell you how to check your version, I will help you out.
Go to Settings > About Phone. (At the very bottom).
Then see your Baseband version, the latest Baseband version that came with Build "KOT49H" is "M8974A-1.0.25.0.23".
If yours matches this then you are on the latest, and doing a stock recovery and factory data set as the sticky indicates will not upgrade you further, use the search to find older versions to see if they fix your issue.
Hope the above helps,
Rob.

Whilst "on paper" your request seems to make sense, I find a fundamental flaw in it's logic.
The problem is the stickies are there to be read but they are ignored or missed. I personally find that teaching a new member (or anyone not au fait with sticky threads or xda rules) that direction to the stickies in context is much more effective than a link to an individual sticky. In fact, I would go as far as saying the provision of links is actually detrimental to a members' progression within xda, ergo I purposely omit links from my answers.
Where as I respect your wish to be helpful, please understand that others (eg me) have our own ideas about how we think a thread is best responded to so I would ask that you please refrain from being condescending in your quotes of senior members.

Flash this zip: http://goo.im/devs/bigxie/hammerhead/LGD820_KOT49E_RADIO.zip
As they said above look in your settings to see the radio although I would say that you probably do not have the updated one, hopefully. Your 3.5g (H+) signal may be better than the LTE signal that you receive. LTE is very spotty on AT&T and is not in a lot of areas.

Might be a silly question, but what is the best custom rom and kernel for battery life?
Anyone have any ideas? I'm using stock rom and kernel
Nevermind that it may a silly question, its against the rules. Theres a big sticky thread at the top of this forum telling you not to post this thread
Truth is what's good for me might not be good for you. Experiment yourself

Oh, so sorry, plz close my thread
battery life has everything to do with how you personally use your phone, how you personally set it up, how you personally manage your apps, and the quality of phone/data signal you personally get. battery life can be great on any kernel and on any rom, but it depends on you for battery life.
Hey guys!
Today I made some videos and when I watched them, there was a noise during the video. However there was almost complete silence while I was recording. I looked up on the internet and I found this and this video. I have the same problem.
I've read under the video and on many different forums that it is a common problem, but it is not present for everyone...
Will we get fix for it or should I replace my phone? Also during phone calls people say that they cannot hear me well and they say that there is a background noise while I am sitting in silence.
I bought the phone in Switzerland through an acquaintance, but I live in Hungary so it would be a very long process...
Or is there any fix?
Who else has this issue?
Thanks.
It seems its a software issue (some say the noise cancellation algorithm) so returning it wont help unless you're getting a different phone.
No fix as yet

I'm facing it and I know one other, @hullbay - but I've not looked into it as much to be honest.
I think some have it and just don't notice as uploaded videos with the problem, some just cant hear

But can others notice this while talking on the phone or is it easy to notice it on videos that you recorded?
Because on my phone this noise is not that quiet, its very easy to notice.
BTW let me ask one more question. Is it okay if my CPU temperature during gaming is about 75-80°C?
Its quite warm on the back. Is it ok?

I don't speak on the phone much so no one complained. I tested voice record apps though and same problem.
Although I have no snapdragon 800 information specifically, it is generally accepted that the maximum safe temperature for 28nm CPU's is 95 degrees C. Take that with a pinch of salt though because that's a general rule, not explicitly our CPU

So I shouldn't be worrying with the 80°C max CPU temperature because its normal?
No, although stock kernel throttles at 65-70..

But its 80°C with stock and with franco kernel too... Is it still okay?
80 is 80. I've increased my frequency and core throttling from 65 and 70 to 80 and 85....
But I dont understand why yours is 80 as stock is 65 and 70. Perhaps its how its being read surrounding the cpu

From what I've been able to research, it supposedly has to do with the noise cancellation algorithm, which may or may not be addressed in the next firmware update. Google Reps have confirmed they are aware of the issue, although a solution has not been announced.

I'd like to let you know that we are continuing to investigate this, and we appreciate the data this community has helped us collect. Note that any potential software improvements to this behavior will have to be included in a future Android release.
(I'm going to mark this post a an answer to this question. Please don't take that as a sign that Google considers this issue fully resolved. Rather, it's the best way for this forum system to display an important update at the beginning of a thread, and I want to help ensure that any newcomers to this discussion see the latest update from me.)

That is what I cant understand too, because others say that their CPU temp is around 60 when gaming, while mine is hotter...:crying:
Before I get some stupid replies, this isn't for me. Let me explain. I bought a Nexus 5 for my wife and she is just not getting the hang of android. With android being as amazing as it is, I'm sure there is a way to make it look and function just like an iPhone. Look, feel, lock screen notifications, ect. If someone can help me out I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
Actually, there isn't. You may find themes that slightly look like ios but act? No.
She's either going to have to try and get the hang of it or you're going to have to buy her an iPhone. My guess is she is hoping for the latter

you can get it to look like an iphone, and easily, but it will always function like android.
Women and their iPhones... its like going backwards... they like it small
What I mean by feel is mostly just lock screen notification where you get the notification and slide across the screen to go to it. As long as it looks like iOS and has that, I'm sure it'll be good.

There are alot of custom roms that have lockscreen notifications where you can slide it to the left to see it, and either click on it to go to the notification, or slide it to the left again to dismiss it.

Gotcha
Try espier launcher and their other apps..they imitate iOS relatively well

But after I was all done, I just thought that it was incredibly ugly.
