What happened to the RastaKat ROM? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It has been my favorite ROM for the Nexus and now I can't seem to find the thread. It seems like it was deleted, but does anyone know why?

Makes sense.
Thanks for the reply.

I'm on rastakat now... Hopefully he'll find someone with the Nexus5 to continue cooking this classic rom.

Original Jelly Bean

I've found a lot of unofficial Jelly Bean ROMS that partially works but I can't find the official Google ROMS nowhere, why xda don't have and official google ROM thread or something.
I know you have to compile it and that kind of things but I don't know why we don't keep posted the original google releases without extras.
I get curious to benchmarking google ROMS and AOSP ROMS and see the difference.
Really? Ever heard of GOOGLE SEARCH?

In first, calm down.
You have not understood me or I have not explained well
I know you can download the ROM source but I mean to keep it compiled somewhere. Because we only have tuned ROMs and not the original.
I just want to compare ROMS.
Cant wait for this to come out for my S3....

You can't just take a ROM compiled from source an throw it on any phone to compare it...it doesn't work that way.

So then what do you mean you want to compare them? What is there to compare on one phone? Changelogs are also available from Google between versions of Android. And in the Nexus forums there are factory images available for going back to stock. You are jumping around quite a bit here.

You can't do that
Devs make roms so they can be compatible and functional on the device they are building for you can't just use Google's and put it on any phone because those are just for the official updates

sadly it doesn't work this way it takes time for devs from different devices to make working full builds

[Q] Does anyone have the old Oxygen builds?

Just wondering if anyone has the final Oxygen gingerbread build that they could share, 2.3.2 (update-oxygen-2.3.2-NS-signed.zip) I believe. Correct me if I am wrong.
Unfortunatley the Oxygen.im website is down, so any help would be greatly appreciated. :good:

Assuming you have all of the Oxygen builds, am I correct in thinking that was the final one of the Gingerbreads before they started doing Oxygen 3.0 builds?

Yep, that's the last one. Very stable when coupled with a good quality kernel without bugs, you'll have no problem lasting 1000 hours and up without needing a reboot if wanted. =)

[Q] Looking For Newest Radio

I'm looking to flash the new updated radio from 4.4.3
The quickest way is best.
I have Custom Recovery but for some reason when my Rom was updated to 4.4.3 the radio was not.
Looking for a reply soon please.
Go to 4.4.3 thread in general and search "radio". That's how I found it.

Custom ROMs usually have the modem stripped from the update to make the .zip smaller and also because you can flash them at will. (I have all modems on my internal just to switch modems when I go out of state.)
But as a friendly reminder, please think through how big 4.4.3 was and next time Google search what you're looking for, you wouldn't have been waiting for us to tell you this if you had. "4.4.3 Nexus 5 modem"
Here's the link if you can't find it however. All the best.

[DEV-ONLY] Android L Port

Hi guys,
First I must begin by saying that I am not a developer. However, using this: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1908008) thread, I have managed to "port" Android L to the One, though I have no clue if it even boots. There are a few problems that need to be discussed:
1) AOSP ROMs are around 400 mb? This one is 900+ mb.
2) When I was zipping the ROM, I saw Prism.apk was also in it, and a heck lot of other HTC related things.
3) Will the current kernel for KitKat work smoothly on L?
Anyway, this is my first step to being a potential developer and hope you all get excited for this. I do have one request though, if I can get a few devs to work with me on this, we can get to new heights on our One.
You can download the zip I created here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4JA1Kc3xlxiZUw2XzNzM1NKMVU/edit?usp=sharing
DISCLAIMER:
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOUR DEVICE GETS BRICKED.
Thanks in advance,
the playa!
Can you attach the Build.prop file?
If you're going to post it at least try it yourself first man, this could brick everyone's device.

Did you miss the [Dev-Only] in the title? Every flash on your device could brick it if you aren't careful, nothing unique with this build. If you don't want to risk it, don't flash. Simple as that.

Sure: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4JA1Kc3xlxiWHJOV1JnS3FCRzg/edit?usp=sharing
But as far as I remember, I did not do anything to it. The base ROM that I used was a stock deodexed Sense 6 ROM and the port ROM I used was the system dump from Android L, if that helps.

Im not a dev just a general user but I don't think we should be creating these types of threads if you don't know what you're doing. Let the real devs do their work if it was as easy as following a copy/pasting port guide every device would already have a l build. Just be patient and eventually a nice dev will maybe make some magic happen for us.

This ROM will not work, period. The reason is because you did not follow step 1 of the guide which states quite clearly:
"Take any clean CM9, AOSP, CM7, CM10, CM11 ROM which is running on your device as Base ROM."
Now, don't know about you but I do not think a stock deodexed Sense 6 ROM counts as any of those mentioned in step 1... that is why you are seeing HTC things in the ROM.

no man, you can not do this because we have not a base for L! so it should be ported compiling source and fixing bug and issues...is not a thing that you find in a guide
estabien said:
I think your best bet would be to download the Nexus 5 sources and then do some "patchwork" with HTC One libs and whatnot, when needed. The good thing is that they are both at the same resolution and have similar specs.
And after you're done with that, you should be able to build with a couple of adjustments to various build-related things.
EDIT: Also, there will probably be issues with kernels? so you'll have to work through that also.

You can't be patching and copy/pasting libs. No zip modding when it comes to porting big base changes
You'll need to decompile and redo your ramdisk etc. And like jonny said you can't be using sense and gpe parts

Android L Keyboard in Play Store
I just wanted to note that there's a third-party application "Android L Keyboard" by Shen Le in the Play Store which I've been using on the latest CM11 nightlies that works great.
I understand that's not the point of this project but I just wanted to make sure other users are aware. Also, it's kind of scary to have to trust that a keyboard from the Play Store isn't logging and reporting your keystrokes but that's another issue entirely... anyways I added a screenshot, good luck with the project!

thats one question that he wont answer. we all have differing wants and needs when it comes to roms(and kernels). so its always recommended to try out a bunch of different roms, and stay with the one that fits your wants and needs. go through the android development and original development threads to check them out.
