Trying to find stock images - Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G

I finally picked up a Relay from a vendor off of Amazon for an awesome price - $160. Unforuntaely, even though the title contained the word UNLOCKED in it, the device is definitely not unlocked.
I'd like to use this method to SIM unlock the device - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255892
but I can't find the image/bootloader/modem for that UVMA2 release. Can anyone help out? Any method will do, Odin or CWM. I've tried with the JB image and whatever release came on the phone, to no avail.

actually I think I found them...will report back if it works for me or not.

Going back to UVMA2 worked perfectly. They definitely removed the ability to unlock the phone through the stock diagnostic menu in releases after UVMA2. Sorry for the noise

Glad it worked out for you. I just noticed your sig. Looks like you found an android phone that can run CM, and possible many other custom images.

lol yea...I still use the gnex (for the love of the screen), the sony (because water/dust resistant), and now the relay (for the keyboard). I'm a linux admin and share an on-call rotation, so since losing the epic and no longer having access to a usable terminal has been killing me. Its much more convienient to just carry the phone around everywhere when I'm on-call, and keep the laptop in the car for big emergencies.

Heh, I'm pretty much the point man for on call Linux operations at my company, and the Relay has been a perfect device to facilitate that. Especially with CM based images, since they include both VPN functionality and an ssh client out of the box.

Is there a specific recovery required to flash the debloated stock 4.1 Jelly Bean ROM found here? I could only avoid a system 7 error by formatting /system ahead of time but then I got stuck on the Samsung logo.

Did you wipe data and cache first?

This is probably too late, but did you flash the JB bootloader and radio? Flash the two zips in this section http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_apexqtmo#Important_Notes and you should be able to flash any JB firmware after that.

IIUC https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9yvmRZNbRDuN1dzaGJlMmhhZkk/edit?usp=sharing is the uvma2 stock rom link, there, but link is broken.
Anyone have a current link?

Official T-Mobile US OTA Update 2.2.1 Froyo 34.4.9

Here you folks go. Off of my phone to you. http://www.multiupload.com/YOXKQ18YW0. You Must have 2.1 with the 3.6 Update. I would recommend making a backup before applying. Use at your own use. If you get a Status 7 error, see my thread in the General forum on how I resolved it. Have Fun!
how is it? faster than 2.1?
Oh yeah. More bloatware, but that's easy to remove. Internet speed is faster. Phone is more responsive. Nice to have the Hotspot feature now. Overall a worthy upgrade. Now to wait for 2.3
can i use this update for my finland rom 3.42? or this is just for TMo version?

Would you happen to have original t-mobile 2.1 in sbf format?
Unfortunately no-one has one for the US. I'm guessing you updated to the leaked version? The good news is that if my suspicion is correct a nandroid backup of this should play fine with the updated firmware. If you look at the difference its minor. 34.4.9 vs 34.4.4. I have not yet had the time to make one yet. I'll try to do so tonight.
What did you have to do with the update.zip in order to upgrade your defy? I'm on 2.1 with the 3.6 update, I'm rooted with superoneclick, and I have it copied to the root of my sd. Did you use clockworkmod recovery?

Its an update zip file signed by company so you should enter stock recovery by power+vol down and then select update from zip.
hmm... how about flash 3.4.2-107 TMobile US Blur with RSDlite and then
update.zp?
Just tried it. No go.
It checks for the right build fingerprint before it continues. You need to have 6.36.0 or it aborts.

Thanks for the update.
...... I just want something official now
( I am on official Chinese 2.21 build 1.11, it is fast, specially when you skip Blur registration. But, just in case I need my phone service by t-mobile .... )
The leaked T-Mobile SBF was fast too.
But yeah, an official one would be better.
If the Nandroid method doesn't work, I hope someone posts an SBF soon...

As for right build fingerprint, yes you are right. It is picky as hell. In the other thread I also mentioned that it is checking for apps. For example, I have Blockbuster disabled....it checked for it, didn't find it, and failed. I spent over 4 hours last night getting this to a point that it would work. Way Way too much hassle. Unfortunately I don't think I'm going to get to do a backup tonight. Was up way too late last night/this morning working on this and put in a 12 hour day. As soon as I get a breather I will. Sorry.
No worries!
Is there any way to edit the build.prop file so that I can get the update to work?

[Q] Motorola Xoom Tablet 3G + WiFi needs upgraded, rooted, and unlocked

Hi there XDA community,
I would like to know if there is an up-to-day tutorial that has working file links? I would like to upgrade, root, and unlock my Xoom. I just bought a Motorola Xoom from 1saleaday.com the Model is an MZ601 and says "approved by IDA for use in Singapore" it is currently just as is and is not unlocked or rooted. I would like to get it upgraded, unlocked, and rooted so I can use it for what I got it for. It has WiFi and Data service that supports WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100, GSM 850/900/1800/1900, ATO_ITEM: AP1520AD3X3. It is currently running on Android Honeycomb 3.0.1, build number H.6.1-38-9. If you any ideas, files, links, tutorials (up-to-day), or can help, that would be great!
Thanks InfiniteImmortal.
P.S.
Here are the configurations;
Model Number: MZ601
Android version: 3.0.1
Firmware: GAS_ASIA_USAEVRSTURTIRD_P016
Baseband version: N_014.83.28P
Baseband configuration: UCAEVEUB1B8EU034.0R
Kernel: 2.6.36.3 [email protected] #1
Build Number: H.6.1-38-9
More specs will be provided if they are needs, thanks again II!
yeah, there are tons of tutorials, relatively up to date. Relatively, because the new method to root xyboards might work for classic xooms too. This method would not require you to unlock your xoom for rooting and thus allow titanium backup to backup all your data before unlocking and thus wiping your xoom.

Okay I will go and read these threads, but are you for sure they work on the EU models? I have read on many different sites and threads that say the normal way of rooting, unlocking, and upgrading for US models have bricked the EU ones to were they did not work anymore. This is one reason why I'm looking for an up-to-date threads that say they work with the EU models. If you could clarify more that would be great.

Yes, the one post I have marked with "(a post by me)" is exactly how I rooted my xoom and that is a german MZ601. And it works, no brick

That is weird. I have never read a thread about a brick that occured using the method I (and others) described. Could you maybe post a link to such a thread?
To Clarify this: the Unlock should impose absolutely no risk at all as it is a feature implemented by motorola. The recovery, even if it didn't work, wouldn't lead to a brick. And the universal xoom root should not do any magic either, it should only add two files to the filesystem (su and Superuser.apk) and remove those files that would make your new shiny recovery go byebye once booted
Ty my knowledge, only the "flashing a custom rom" part is a source of bricking. And that can easily be avoided by flashing a MZ601-rom instead of something else
That said, nobody can guarantee you that this is completely safe. There is a thread right next door with a poor guy whose xoom bricked itself overnight. That was a wifi-xoom, and so far no one knows why that happened. We're still working on a solution, though

yes, you will be able to go back to the original rom and lock your bootloader again. If you do that, you will be able to get ota updates (if you really want to do so, usually custom roms are ahead of the ota-updates)
You should make a backup of your xoom right after starting the new recovery, even before rooting. That will give you a set of files that, if you restore them, will reset your xoom back to stock, thus you'll only have to re-lock your bootloader to get ota-updates

Hey llama-power,
You say in your thread post that "If you already downloaded your new rom, put that onto the sdcard as well, it should be a flashable .zip-file".
Do you by chance have the links to these files? I know I.C.S. is the latest one, but I'm happy with an old one if it is stable. Or if you have a custom ROM for the Xoom that would be great. I have a Samsung Captivate generation 1 that I use Firefly or Cognition on, along with the original stock ROM as backup just in case. Any links or files would be very cool!

I'll try the other ones you put up, so far I have read every page on every linked thread I've come across. Lots and lots of helpful info on those as well as your pages. But if you can respond to my three earlier posts that would be helpful too. Starting to get information overload, haha.

A few more question, yes I know MORE questions! haha. Where is the backup I make stored at? I would like to put it in my backups folder for the Xoom under its drive in my computer. Currently the 3G data service is still not working on it, but is recognizing AT&T network. It says "Mobile Network State: Disconnected" just like before and suggestions? Other then that I also still don't have access to the micro SD card in Android, but can access it in the Recovery.
I now think its time for a new platform, NO more Honeycomb 3.0.1! If you have any suggestions your more than welcome to say or suggest just like for the other posts!
llama-power You ROCK!
Time for me to get some sleep! Been reading and doing Xoom stuff for hours now. I'll be on later to night to read your posts!

I am using the team eos nightlies. Works really nicely except deep-sleep isn't working for me while wifi is enabled. Don't know if that is a rom-issue though, might be some app I use. Anyways, it's not really a problem to me, battery life is still more than sufficient.
You can get the team EOS nightlies for your xoom (MZ601 / umts_everest / EU-3G) from this thread. Download the latest nightly build and the latest G-Apps package (thats the Google Mail, Market, etc. apps) from the link in the same thread. Put those onto your sdcard and flash them from recovery. Wipe /data, /cache and dalvik-cache first, then install the rom, then the g-apps package and finally reboot. Do not reboot between the steps. Just to let you know I'm using the ROM you recommended and I love it so far. As for the data service on the AT&T network it now works, after switching to the new ROM and it loaded the proper APN settings which were different from my phone. well, there are a couple of sources for a stock rom. For one, your sd-card should contain one (I restored my backup yesterday and yes, it even reset the recovery to stock)...
Also, motorola offers some filesystem images at http://developer.motorola.com/products/software/, but you'll need to register with them to get to the download (should be free, though)
Finally, it might be desirable to have some .sbf-file for your xoom. Those can be flashed using a software called rsd lite, even when you aren't able to enter your recovery system. Doesn't always work, so it's not more than a Hail Mary move... However, Motorola does a lot to keep these files from floating around the web, so I won't be able to provide you with a link.
As always thanks for the keen insight. Just came across a few threads that perked my interest. Have you ever tried to get working SMS text messaging and voice calling on the Xoom? Since I'm using the SIM from my phone to do the data I was hoping there might be a way. I haven't done a lot of reading on this yet but you seem to know everything.

InfiniteImmortal said:

nope. The sim inside my xoom is on the same contract as the sim in my phone and I had to pick one that would receive texts. Naturally, since I always carry my phone, that's where the texts go, so the xoom wouldn't ever receive a text ever anyways. Voice calling is currently not possible on the xoom. So the only upside of that would be that I could send texts using the xoom, but that isn't so much better than texting on my Desire HD. Plus, that would tear apart the messaging threads between my phone and the xoom.
However, there's a thread in the xoom development section where flashable zip-files are published for every eos nightly, you should be able to just flash that over your rom and thus enable texting.
Actually, I might try that some time, but right now I should really learn for that exam on friday:-/

Which ROM?

I guess you have to choose between the devil and a hard place with TeamEOS JellyBean ROMS. I have a Verizon 3G Xoom, and it seems I can choose between wifi or 4G or Euro 3G. Well I would like to have wifi and Verizon 3G, but it doesn't seem possible.
Going to TeamEOS's site I follow links to the roms themselves, but there is no indication of how to decode the secret name of my device.
Amazingly there is no explanation in the OPs for these ROMs.
And IRC is dead.
I didn't understand well your question, but I will put here the name of all devices:
Wingray - Wifi only Xoom (Grey back)
Stingray - Verizon Xoom (If I'm not wrong black back)
Everest - Europe 3G Xoom (White/Silver back)
It looks like your is a MZ600, that was called Stingray before the 4g update, I'm not sure if you can flash the 4g ROM as you're on 3g, but you can try and tell if worked or not, if it doesn't work flash back another ROM
Good luck
Thank you. I was being a bit sarcastic, in my frustration.
So Stingray will allow wifi -and- 3g to work on the US Verizon Xoom? It appears that Stingray is only for 4G?
Looks like I can't go back, as stingray_cdma no longer exists.
Is there anything that doesn't work with this ROM? wifi teathering?

Well, sorry but that I don't know... I have a MZ605 which is the same as MZ601, and have no idea about the stingray... Why don't you find someone with the same device and ask this person

That person does not exist. I've looked everywhere, including #xoom and #teameos on IRC.
None of the recoveries work, so I can't even get to a ROM.

(silly questions ahead)
You are rooted right? What recoveries did you try to install? TWRP? Rogue?
Where/when did you get the xoom? Are you using the 3g?
It isn't a xyboard right?
NO I am not rooted. All the xoomroot.zip's have been removed from the internet.
NO I do not have any recovery installed, because laying them down has no effect. Boot into recovery and it's the dead android. I've tried three of them. (solarnz, Steady, dreamcwii)
My son gave me the Xoom, and I don't know how long he's had it. I am not using the 3G, but if I sell it I'd like to at least have it available.
No it is not an xyboard. It is a 600.

That is XxLordxX's One stop shop tool for the xoom. It unlocks and relocks the bootloader, It root's, unroots.. etc. etc.
If you aren't using the 3g, you CAN just flash a wifi ROM, and it will work. You would need the original image or a ROM that supports 3g to restore it. If you unlocked and rooted, then installed a recovery, and performed a backup of your xoom on the stock ROM before changing it... you would be fine if you wanted to sell it. Restore the original stock image then unroot and relock the bootloader.
If Lord's tool helps you, be sure to hit his thanks button
Yes tried that too. (Linux) Ran his RunThisOnce tool, and all files disappeared. Examined the script and it's supposed to put them in ~/LAIOT, but unfortunately it does not. When I manually move the directory, most of its subdirs are empty, and there's no clue where to start. Tried LAIOT, but it is nowhere in the run path.

So at this point you are just looking for the universal root zip so you can try it manually?
That would help.
But I can not understand why installing any CWM recovery does not work. This is simply a show stopper.

If you thank me, make sure you thank solarnz, it's his work, I just happened to have it lying around. If you aren't rooted, you aren't gonna get a CWM to stick, and bootloader unlocked as well.
Thanks but no idea what to do with that. I don't have CWM so can't install it that way. It won't work with adb or fastboot. No idea what version it is, or whether it will work with current ROMs.
This is the way things have gone here.

The root worked with any update for sure through ICS, I doubt you are on jellybean and it would probably work on that. If you didn't have the zip itself before, how do you know it doesn't work with adb?
This is the perspective thread that I originally got the zip file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242241
Anyways, Good luck, I will leave the zip in dropbox for another day or two in case you change your mind
I am -sure- I am not on jellybean, because I have not been able to flash it. None of the recoveries actually flash to the tablet, so there is of course no way I can use it to run JB.

Something just not right in my attempt to flash roms.

About to tear my hair out at its roots trying to get this thing up to Jellybean. I bought it being told it was Jellybean capable but it had not been upgraded yet and all I had to do was go to the Asus site and get the files.
Well I go to the asus site and sure enough I download the file but thenit does not mention how to do the upgrade process. So I then go to - http://forums.androidcentral.com/an...-jelly-bean-asus-infinity-tf700t-minutes.html and this tells me to get the file needed to make it a specific file name and then do the reboot into the regular bootloader.
Well this worked like a hill of beans. I kept getting an error about the signature being invalid though I downloaded it off the ASUS site and I tried downloading the file three different ways (at work) on my phone and off my home Cablemodem) so if its a file problem its a file problem on the hosted site Asus is using.
I then used the unlocker and I unlocked my Asus it even shows it is unlocked every time it unboots so this part I know I did right.
I then ran DebugfsRoot_Generic_v2.3.zip from the link here - http://dottech.org/78441/how-to-root-asus-transformer-pad-infinity-tf700-debugfs-method-guide/ - and it said that it gave me root access on the OS installed. I however downloaded SU and RootChecker both which indicated I did not have root.
So then I decided if I was going to do this I would go full gusto. So I got a CWM GUI from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2094746 because I use CWM on my phones and figured if I stuck with the gui version of this I would be fairly competent on doing a rom replacement.
So then I downloaded a couple of roms from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1834521
as well as the SU that can be flashed. before boot up but I seem to still not to be able to get root (though the tool I used indicated I have it) on the current system.
The problem I have right now is rigt now anything I try and load from my sd card that is a zip shows -
E: Can't Open /sdcard/filename.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.
For Filename.zip I have tried CWM-SuperSU-v0.99.zip from http://download.chainfire.eu/310/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.04.zip as well as multiple ROM files from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1834521 as well as a couple from Asus
Things i know 1) I have correct USB from the Tablet to the PC this is evident because I was able to update the bootloader to the CWM GUI. 2) The MicroSD card is a 4 gb card and it works just fine. I have used it in my computer many times and I can open and copy and move files just fine on it any which way. 3) I am unsure as to why DebugfsRoot_Generic_v2.3.zip indicated it was all Rooted but then rootchecker is not showing it as rooted.
Is the fact I don't have Root the main reason for the files not being able to be opened? If so is there a better TF700T root program out there?
So for my clarification you want Jelly Bean rooted?
Is this correct?
Although it could be risky, you can actually toggle file system hashing verifications off in CWM. Make absolutely sure that the file downloaded correctly by verifying the MD5 yourself, other wise you could end up with a brick of the same value but even less practical use than the one you currently have.

Just to correct a minor error in terminology, just to get it straight: CWM is a recovery, and not a bootloader nor a "GUI" to the bootloader.

Nope, an unlocked bootloader and a suitable recovery is all you need. Once those two are in place and working correctly, you should be able to flash anything. Rooting pertains to the access granted to the filesystem once you're 'inside', i.e. with the tablet running the ROM installed.
If so is there a better TF700T root program out there?

Nah, this works for pretty much anyone. I've had the error of "bad installation" a few times as well, and I toggled the hashing. Worked like a charm, although, as said, there is a minor risk involved if you do not keep your head cool and forget to verify manually. I haven't had this on the latest version of CWM, though.

I have already followed these instructions multiple times and each time it is giving me errors about the files being invalid or something of the sort.
I have tried about 4 different roms to load and each time I get bad file indicators even after comparing md5s and verifying the files are okay.
Is there any way to wipe this thing 100% and just load something on fresh?

Hmmm..Guess I'm not catching what you have done.
When you downloaded from the Asus website did you rename the file inside the zip to: EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip then place this on your microSD?
Also I don't see any mention of ADB to push files to the tablet.
Sorry for my confusion.
Just not understanding where your at.
It is possible to wipe the internal SD card (eMMC) memory using TWRP...yet I'd wait until we get things sorted.
Let me go over what I did and what didn't work and let me go over what I finally did that did work now that I have mine all upgraded.
Didn't work -Scenario 1 -
Go into Settings->About Tablet-> System update this did absolutely nothing for getting me jellybean it just sat at a connecting screen that gave me nothing.
Didn't work -Scenario 2 -
Straight from the last link you provided -
1. Decompress downloaded .zip file (it will be another .zip)
2. Rename it to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip
3. Format FAT32 the MicroSD card that you will be using for the update process
4. Copy the file to (the root directory of) your MicroSD
5. Insert it into the tablet
6. Shutdown (power off) the tablet
7. Power it on by pressing and holding VOLUME DOWN and POWER buttons simultaneously
8. When you see white text in the top left corner of the screen, release the buttons ^^ and press VOLUME UP button until you see Android logo and process bar
9. Wait patiently for 10 minutes or so
(when I reached number 8 nothing happened automatically and I had to use the blue screened system recovery and when I pointed it to the SD file it told me it was a bad file.)
Didn't work -Scenario 3 -
Loaded
Transformer ADB Tool v6 and then loaded CWM GUI and then tried loading different rom from all over the place Asus main site, and all over the Index site here for different roms. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1834521
Finally however I finally made it work -
I am not sure why ALL the other ways did not work but on mine this is what I had to do.
1) From my first post I got the program from Asus that did the Unlocker I ran that from the Asus site.
2) From the first post I installed CWM GUI and I installed that.
3) From the index site I downloaded Stock Rooted Odex 10.4.4.23 to a USB stick - mainly because it says its rooted and I don't have to worry about rooting it AND I don't mind being .02 revisions behind.
4) I did an MD5 check vrs the download verified all was correct.
5) Tried to install from the MicroSD card and it failed yet again same errors as before.
6) On a whim I rebooted the TF700T and I copied the Stock Rooted Odex 10.4.4.23 to the device directly.
7) I booted to CWM GUI again and this time it installed when I selected to load from the internal SD.
8) I reloaded all my apps on the top.
9) I then loaded the apk of flash that "isn't supported" but works well enough on JB even on my phone.
So basically it would not install from my MicroSD though everything said it should but it would work fine from the internal memory.
This is with me using 2 different MicroSD cards and both are known working ones out of current phones I use all the time.
So I am now up to Jellybean and I am sporting all I needed to be upgraded for. Thanks for the attempts but it was just my constant tenacity that got me through this process.
Sounds like you have loaded my stock rooted rom. Which means you will still be on the old ice cream sandwich bootloader. Recommend you flash the JellyBean bootloaderfrom one of my threads in the ddevelopment section.

Ugh so I actually just made this worse? Basically since I did Stock Rooted Odex 10.4.4.23 over the version 9 ICS I am still running version 9ICSwith files over the top that are from 10.4.4.23 making it now some mixture of the two? So confused because I thought when I did a rom upgrade it wiped out the old and put in the new? it is showing the right version in Settings and it is acting right with what Jellybean should be doing so I am a lot confused right now.

boot into recovery, when you see 4 icons, take a look at the second line (white text), it should say the version of your bootloader (1.00e is JB bootloader and 2.00e is ICS), then next to it is your JB or ICS version.
What sdbags said is when you flash a premade rom from XDA, it only included the ROM/kernel, but no bootloader. The only way is to flash the full firmware download from Asus site which included everything and bootloader is one of them.

Just checking because as I mentioned I have tried quite a few roms on my Samsung S2 and used AOKP, SuperNexus, and am now on ShoStock3. Pretty much all of them are preooted, but in my opinion, none of them is as smooth as CROMI. BBB7 has been quite a bufggy experience for most of the people that tried it (or so I gather from the thread), and although the CM team is making nice progress on their 10.x version, some minor niggles remain (and sometimes resurface, such as shortcut keys on the dock being broken every once in a while). Also, CROMI is developed actively in the meantime as well, and you can take the mods with it that disable those annoying notifications.
Just checking because as I mentioned I have tried quite a few roms on my Samsung S2 and used AOKP, SuperNexus, and am now on ShoStock3.

I agree that the SGS2 was a breeze to flash compared to the TF700 -- I was in the same boat as you. Flashed away without a care, then had to learn how to do it anew with the Infinity.

The differences are greater, because the TF700 has a lot of pixels to push and therefore its hardware is more hard-pressed than the SGS2's. The Exynos in the SGS2 is a VERY good chip, so it handles itself quite nicely in lots of scenarios. The Tegra3, I am pained to say, has impressed me less in everyday use than the numbers on paper did. With CROMI, it's pretty good, so I'm happy as it is now, but it should have been better out-of-the-box.

Restoring stock firmware from CWM- Anyone have a usable .ZIP?

Hello! I need to restore my Photon Q to the stock firmware, ideally ICS. I have CWM installed, but every ZIP I see is either a custom firmware, uses .win files that are only TWRP compatible, or it's a file for RSD Lite. So far I haven't found any way to restore this phone to stock from CWM.
You're probably asking, "why not use fastboot or RSD"? I presently do not have access to a PC with administrator access. Therefore I can't install the USB drivers or RSD.
The reason I am trying to get back to stock is because for some reason, with EVERY custom ROM I have tried-- CM10.2, CM10.1, Carbon, SlimBean, MIUI, AOKP ... WiFi, BlueTooth and GPS are all broken. I don't have a cell plan for this phone, I just use it on WiFi- and I regularly use it for navigation. So, that's a pretty huge problem.
The weird thing is that I have had CM10.2 working with WiFi/BT/GPS before, and it was using the exact same ZIP. Weird, huh?
Thanks for any help!
RSD would be your best bet.
Perhaps borrow a PC?
Maybe someone with CWM will take pity upon you...
We're in the same boat...

I am also looking for a stable ROM.
Just like you, Cm 10 worked. I even tried Cm 10.2 nightly and that's when I started having problems. Tons of force start problems.
Now I'm back to stock ROM and for some reason, YouTube and Google Play won't work.
My Wifi stays white and never goes to blue. As well, I am not on any carrier and rely on Wifi.have been flashing ROMS since the original HTC EVO. This has been quite a challenge (with the incorrect bootloader instructions on Motorola's website not helping any..) but I'll let you knowif I can find a flawless recovery stock of Photon Q!!

Thanks for any help!

Glad to see I'm not the only one in this predicament. I have seen that thread- unfortunately the recovery files are .win -- which I think is for TWRP only? I think the only way to get TWRP on here is with Fastboot, and that's not doable in my situation I thought I saw a ZIP somewhere on these forums but now it's nowhere to be found.
Thanks and I will post if I find a solution!

You can install TWRP with GooManager, assuming you are already rooted.

Will try that.. getting an APK of Goomanager now. thx
Hm, does goomanager need an internet connection to DL TWRP, or I can I somehow supply it with a file? .. I have no way to get the rooted Photon on the net, as I have no data plan and WiFi is broken. Thanks.

I suppose you can supply it with a file, although I am unsure of how to do so. Never attempted myself...
I use root explorer and it asks what app do you want to use to open file.
Sent from my XT897 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I've got a Photon Q sitting in the mailbox from ebay today, plan to root and use CWM (more familiar with it over TWRP). I can probably grab a nandriod image of the stock rom rooted (depending on the root procedure, haven't read everything yet) and can send that to you. That should get you there w/o need for network connection. :good:
