I'm using the stock Kitkat 4.4 KRT16M Nexus 5
And I'm having following problems
1. I muted the phone with volume rocker and set the phone into vibrate mode.
2. I open a website via chrome and watch videos via MX player v1.7.20.
3. The sound still coming out from the player even after I turn all the volume down to 0.
4. In vibrate mode when I play games the sound will pop out once in a while.
Is it software problem or hardware problem? Please help.

Its not an issue at all!!!
When you set to vibrate only the "Phone and Notification" volumes drop to 0.
but the "Music and Alarm" volumes will remain the same.
You have to manually disable sounds in apps/games if you want a perfect 0 in Vibrate mode!
Hope this helps!
Hide it Pro app should help you to adjust all sounds.

My Nexus 5 keeps muting the Ringtone & notifications volume and I the only way I can get it out is to turn it off and on again.
When its muted itself the volume rocker display shows the telephone with a line across it (muted).
The rocker allow me to increase the volume level to maximum but the speaker stays in muted mode. If I turn the telephone off and on again, the problem is solved (for some time).
Anybody have any idea what is going on?
Thanks.

I solved by myself. Not a Nexus 5 problem, but a Real Racing 3 bug.

Same thing is happening to me, but I don't have that app installed. How did you figure out which app was causing this issue?

I think you should find what program block you audio.
I find that googling, but I think you can try to launch and apps and find which one is responsible of the issue.

Had the same issue with my nexus 5. Here is what fixed it. go to settings-> apps -> running. look at the running applications , and kill one app at a time, and then immediately press the up/down volume button to see if you hear the beep. if you dont hear the beep kill the next process and repeat the process until you hear a beep. the last app that you killed just before you hear the beep, is the culprit. in my case, its textplus app, i had no volume mute issues after I uninstalled it.
Hello,
While watching video on MX player and when i try to increase/decrease volume, brightness and seeking forward backward with one finger slide, it is not happening directly. In version 1.7.19 it happens directly. Post that version, i need 2 taps of finger to do the above actions. With the 1st tap, you will get that seekbar and then you need to tap 2nd and slide for those actions. This is very annoying and I REPEAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT THERE IN VERSION 1.17.19.
I tried the below troubleshooting steps on the latest version and no luck in still using version 1.7.19 because it's free of that problem:
1. Restarted phone
2. Checked all MX player settings
3. Installed MX player codec (ARMV7)
4. Force stopped and cleared cache and data
5. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app.
6. Tried few older versions as well.
Disable System audio panel from Settings 》Audio. It won't appear again.
Hi, is there also a way to disable the message, when you increase the volume above 10, when headset is plugged in? Every morning and evening I have to increase volume to 13, and have to deal with this message. Message would make more sense once you exceed the default max of 15.

It's android's internal alert. I think it can't be disabled in the current version. But, I am not sure that whether it's possible to disable it permanently or not.
@bleu8888
Is there any workarounds?

No, there is no workaround because this message is not from application process but from Android audio system service. And Google did not make any way to remove it because this is violation to EU regulation.

Question: "My volume is stuck at 50% and won't go higher, why?"
Answer: Blame Google. See this: https://groups.google.com/d/topic/mx-videoplayer/-g9Mq6lIGAo/discussion
Quote of answer from original Google Groups thread:
This is an Android system "feature". Google added it to comply with EU laws. The EU requires companies to warn of "excessive volume on headphones" to protect your hearing.
If you go into MX Player Settings -> Audio -> Enable System Volume Panel, this will bring up the Android system volume panel whenever you change volume. This will bring up that volume warning at 50% that you see in other apps, so that you can clear it.
The reason this doesn't show in MX Player normally is because MX Player doesn't use the Android system volume panel by default. MX uses its own volume panel, the much cleaner, smaller one that we are used to seeing.
The warning shows up on Google Play Music because that app uses the system volume. If you are on headphones with any other app that uses the Android system volume panel, you would see the same warning.
Note that you'll have to manually acknowledge that warning every time you restart the device, as the phone system does not "remember" that you cleared it when the device restarts.

Someone please tell me there is a way to put a phone into silent, priority, etc. while music is playing. The volume button controls music volume.
Don't tell me Google expects me to unplugg my headset to put my phone on silent!!??
Nexus 5 - Lollipop
Thanks!
i would like to know this as well, had to disable bluetooth to change it...
That's one of the issues why I just downgraded to KitKat. Does anybody have a solution?
Hi,
This is a simple solution to fix the issue of automatic closing of file in MX Player in Lenovo A6000 (Lollipop 5.0.2) while volume level is increased above 10 when a headset is connected.
1. Go to Settings
2. Select Audio
3. Uncheck System Audio
Disabling the system audio will result in mute when media volume is set to 0kMute). There won't be any volume when you adjust the volume using gesture.
Can you explain your issue?
Does MX Player crashes when the volume is raised above 10?
Can you collect the logs immediately after the crash & upload here?

Where/How do I find the logs..?
Got it.. I've attached it. I tried opening two video files and it got closed above the volume level 10. This happens only when a HEADSET is connected.!

I registered here just to say thank you very much for this solution. It really helped in this weird problem.
Just a notice
In my Lenovo a6000 it's
1. Settings
2. Sound & notification
3. Turn off all volumes except media
Don't forget to reset the volume back after watching.
After Android 6.0 update, the media volume and ringer volume goes mute. MX Player like video players showing no issues, but music players have the volume issue.
The ringer automatically changes to vibrate mode, forcing me to miss important calls.
The only solution with me is to reboot, but after 1-2 hrs, it again goes silent.
Pls let me know any troubleshooting available for the known issue. Thank You
I have 2 XT1540'S on Marshmallow and neither do that and I've never seen that problem mentioned. Maybe try force closing any non system apps you've installed one at a time. Look at the permissions of any sound apps and see what permissions they're getting.
