When You see those three icons You already in fastboot mode (for JB bootloaders).

I video on YouTube showed a USB. Must of been previous updates.

If I'm correct, USB icon exist only on 4.0 firmware and 4.1+ have only message in top left corner that fastboot is enabled.

Help with fastboot please

My Infinity is unlocked and rooted. I want to install NVFLASH on my Infinity before I flash JB. The instructions for NVFLASH states you have to access the fastboot menu. When I boot and hold the volume down key I get to the boot menu. Then I press volume down to choose the fastboot icon and volume up to start fastboot. At this point the screen shows "Starting Fastboot USB download Protocol" and the same 3 icons are still on the screen. That's as far as it goes. I'm not sure if I'm actually in fastboot. Is this the fastboot menu or is something else supposed to happen? I don't know if it matters but I have TWRP recovery. Thanks

Sounds like you are in fastboot mode. Now run the fastboot commands from the SDK folder on your PC.....

That's what I kind of thought but I wasn't 100% sure. I figured I'd ask before I screwed something up. Thanks.

I'm doing the same thing but when I do adb devices I get errors
That's because adb doesn't work in fastboot. Adb only works when booted in recovery or system...

I'm still on .26. I still haven't done the NVFLASH installation. I'm now having a problem installing the naked drivers you are supposed to use to install NVFLASH. I may just give up on it before I screw something up.

[OBSOLETE]Workaround for 4.2.1 missing fast boot

Hello, I have noticed that there is no longer a fast-boot icon on the Bootloader.
I have found a workaround for this using Cyanogenmod 10.1.
1. Go to settings > Developer Options
2. Enable advanced reboot
3. when rebooting select "Fastboot" from the menu
Also, this very but you can still select options well in fast-boot. For instance I could highlight and select recovery when in fast-boot. It seems ASUS does not want us to be able to use fast-boot.

Read the text in the upper left corner in the bootloader menu - fastboot is always on.

The tablet is already in fastboot when you see RCK and the other options. If youlook above the options, you'll see 'starting fastboot usb download protocol' So you dont need to select the usb icon to enter fastboot.
Ok, thanks.... However one other thing I noticed there is also a message that says key driver not found booting Os. Is that important?

I have the same problem on my tablet; the point is:
if it is already in fastboot mode, how can i install clockworck mode recovery or install a new rom?
Beside, I've noticed that when i plug it into the pc, open a terminal (in ubuntu) and type "fastboot device", the pc does not recognize it and just displays on the terminal this message "<waiting for device>;
what does it mean??

You need to install the Naked Universal Drivers to use ADB and Fastboot. Look for the device in device manager as well.

Fastboot CWM/ Root Help needed

I have been trying to put cwm on the tf300t for about two days now reading everything and still got no where. The device is unlocked i used asus apk to unlock it. every time i do the power and down step i do not have the usb option just rck, cold start, wipe data. i cant do anything with fast boot to put cwm onto the tablet. any help would be appreciated. i tried reinstalling fast boot and reseting the tablet. i am on 4.2.1
Which guide are you using? The 4.2 bootloader automatically connects in fastboot mode as far as I know when you get into the bootloader menu which is why the USB icon isn't there. You should be able to use fastboot commands whilst in the bootloader menu

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

I did read that somewhere and i tried running the recovery through fastboot but it just says waiting and does nothing. I also noticed when i plug it into the computer it says fastboot on the usb but it has a little symbol next to it as if it wasnt running right, but i have reinstalled it a few times
AFAIK, there is no version of CWM compatible with the 4.2 bootloader. You'll need to use the TWRP versions that end with -42.
I have tried installing TWRP running command "fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery twrp.blob" still no luck just says waiting for device and the tablet stays at the rck screen

whats fastboot??
Fastboot allows you to flash surtain things (like bootloader, kernel and so on) you can get into the bootloader by pressing volume down+ power button at the same time and hold it depending on what bootloader you have you would see different icons: on the 4.1 bootloader there are 4 icons and on the 4.2 ones there are 3
so please give me this info: the bootloader version (just copy all of the stuff in the left corner of the bootloader) and what you exactly did before it "stopped working"!

Anything/????
What did you exactly do before this happend: unlocked your bootloader?, flashed a custom recovery?, flashed a custom rom?
if you DO NOT have a custom recovery or unlocked bootloader:
1: go to the bootloader (VOL- +power)
2: go to the "wipe data" option (the most right icon)
3: select it with the VOLUME+ key!
4: reboot
DO THIS ONLY IF YOU HAVE A LOCKED BOOTLOADER OR STOCK RECOVERY ELSE YOU WILL BRICK YOUR TABLET PERMANENTLY!!!!!!!!!!

The tablet is 100% standard. No custom roms
then do the following:
go to bootloader go to the furthes right icon it should be "wipe data" with an android icon above an arrow pointing to a box (or something like that )
select it with your vol up key!
WARNING: this will REMOVE all your data (excpect micro sd)

No! If you had an unlocked BL you could backup it and you can only unlock your tab if it boots!
