[Q] Xyboard firmware on Xoom 2? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody,
Now that it seems that the Jelly Bean will start rolling for Verizon's Xyboard, do you think it will be possible to port this firmware somehow to our humble Xoom 2 wifi devices?
Sorry if I am asking something that has already been covered in another thread but I couldn't find anything.

I wanna know the same. Please can someone answer??

You can try flashing the system.img from xyboard 4.1.2 file, i see no reason why it wouldn't work. How to ? extract the system_signed from xyboard jb fastboot file and flash it using moto-fastboot from command line.
fastboot flash system system_signed
(In case of any bootloader error, keep a copy of your tablets' stock fw.)

Hello Semseddin, what about the radio infos? Do you think that we will be able to continue to use the tablet with the networks in europe (in my condition in Italy)? Moreover the Verizon software will be 100% compliant? I would not be the first one to try it, since I use the tablet for my daily work.
Thx.

Most verizon 4.1.2 motorola droid updates brought global capability with gsm/wcdma 2100mhz support.I think it is worth a shot to try flashing unedited file for your case.

Hi, I got the MZ616 Aus retail. Just need further guidance on this. So, I downloaded the xyboard fastboot files, extracted it, and in the folder, it got
-preinstall,
-system,
-userdata,
-cdrom,
-radio,
recovery,
-boot,
-motoboot,
-logo,
-device tree,
-flashall
-flashall.sh
-default_flash,
Folder:
-Darwin,
-Linux,
-ota,
-Window (contain AdbWinapi.dll and fastboot)
So, to be clear,
1. i put the AdbWinapi and fastboot into the android sdk folder to replace the original one (i assume),
2. put the system.img file into the same folder,
3. Boot xoom2 mz616 into fastboot mode,
4, connect to PC,
5. run the cmd.exe, (win 7),
6. go the folder with the fastboot,
7. type fastboot flash system system.img
8. done?
In worst case scenario, i will still be able restore to 4.0.4 using RSD lite, right?
Thanks.

I can't give you my word for the worst case but if you have an honeycomb or ics fastboot file compatible with your device. fastboot flash system system.img won't hurt. Since i don't have the device, i can't speak for %100. Test and inform please.

[Q] Nexus S stuck on Google logo and unlock bootloader screen

I know there have been similar threads, and I'm sorry that I'm raising another one. But reading to all those old topics didn't help me.
It's a friend's i9020T, bought in the US, so returning it back would be a real problem. He never unlocked bootloader, never applied any custom ROMs or Recovery, always updated it over OTA, and sometime in November, after reboots, phone started to hang on Google logo. Usually, it helped to remove the battery and wait some time, but it doesn't any more. We tried to remove it for a full day, didn't helped.
I tried going into recovery and doing full wipe and cache wipe - didn't help
I tried to unlock the bootloader, can select 'Yes', apply it via Power button, but the phone hangs.
If I want to flash anything with fastboot (boot, system img), it complains about locked bootloader
I tried Odin as well, but can't trick the phone into download mode with both volume up and down, again reports to unlock the bootloader
Is there any way to and how to fix this? I cannot transfer anything to internal memory, have stock recovery?
Thanks a lot to all of those who are willing to help, and I've really want to somehow fix the phone, because I don't have here in Serbia where to repair it. Several mobile providers only imported i9023, so they can't fix i9020T
I'm having the exact same problem with a GT-i9020 so would be interested in any help on this!
May need to format phone. Basically reflash latest update via boot loader. Wipe system to factory. And wipe sd

That's the problem dude u don't unpack it. U need to leave as a update zip. Look on xda for the stock 4.0.3 update zip or wait till I provide link. U go thru stock recovery if unrooted, and flash with it. To unlock boot loader u need to be in fastboot and type fastboot oem unlock. But u wait first. Lets get it booted. I'll find link.

First download this : http://www.4shared.com/zip/2L09-JyW/Root_Nexus_S.html
Just unpack , connect your device and click run.bat - that will root your phone and installed new ClockWordMod Recovery
After that you need : remove install-recovery.sh just in .....
run in windows-> Start->at the search bar write cmd and navigate into your android sdk is installed
For me :
C:/"Programs and Files (x86)"/Android/android-sdk/tools/>adb shell
# rm /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
#exit
or with Root Explorer into system/etc/install-recovery.sh just renam it (ex. : .sh.old)

Same thing mate, I ran it, click two times in console, can't unlock the bootloader, I always get stuck on it
Trying to update the drivers for Nexus S : http://www.4shared.com/rar/_bgEMHqk/Nexus_S_Drivers_x86__x64.html
and after that try to run.bat...Good luck!
I'll try today, but my problem is that adb cannot find the device, fastboot can
I would try downloading the full OTA from this thread, rename it to update.zip (for easy typing), place it in a directory where you can run fastboot, then use the command:
Code:
fastboot update update.zip
I got an error
archive does not contain 'android-info.txt'
archive does not contain 'android-product.txt'
error: update package has no android-info.txt or android-product.txt
Should I create android-info.txt (how?) and place it into the zip (where?)
Thanks.

Sorry my bad, haven't tried that before either...
If it bugs you the bootloader isn't unlcoked before flashing can't you just use
fastboot oem unlock
then commence with flashing your stock image?
Edit - Nevermind...I see you tried that.
any other suggestion? I'm out of ideas
I had this problem in December. I tried everything you tried without any luck so eventually took it back for warranty repair. Unfortunately I had some water damage from 9 months before so they wouldn't touch it. Luckily I got it replaced on my phone insurance but they said it couldn't repaired.
As far as I know it's a hardware fault. With CWM it looked like I could transfer files into the sd but they would disappear! I was able to use Fastboot and Odin but no joy. I had the same errors when trying to apply update using fastboot and never found answers about the "missing" files.
Sorry to come with bad news and good luck! I'm worried it'll happen to my replacement handset so keen to know if you resolve it.

No problem. Just go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650 and read the section on how to flash the FXZ. make sure to look at the bottom part where it tells you to replace some files. you will need to do that. Instead of using the ATT FXZ file like they say use the one that matches your current version (SEARET I think you said) and follow the same directions, but use that file instead. Get if from here: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/list.php

can i should replace some file in above zip? because my phone is 2.3.6
Code:
How to flash the FXZ once applying the OTA update and get back to 2.3.5, ONCE YOU UPDATE TO THE OTS 2.3.6 YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FLASH THE 2.3.5 FXZ WITHOUT FOLLOWING THESE STEPS BELOW!!
NOTE: Download this file HERE -
Unzip it and move all the the items in it to the stock fxz. You might get a warning about replacing files, just click OK. NOTE that Windows might not be able to handle the size of the fxz. I have 6 GB RAM but Windows still wasn't able to perform a drag-and-drop through the fxz's zip. I recommend that you just unzip the fxz and then put the files in. (You don't have to rezip it either, RSD Lite will still recognize it and will flash faster).
You should be able to use RSD Lite to flash the file.

Yeah, I was being stupid. Was the phone originally ATT when you bought it, or was it indian. that makes a big difference. you need to know what it said under settings > about phone.
anyways this should fix it, just use which ever fxz is right (from my post in the noob thread:
just thought of an easier way to get you restored. Most of the time you only really need to do system. download the moto-fastboot utility (it's similar to normal fastboot but you MUST use it instead or it will not work) and the fxz for your region. Extract the fxz and put the system.img from it and moto-fastboot in the same folder. open a command prompt in that folder (hold shift and right click) and type
Code:
moto-fastboot.exe flash system system.img
moto-fastboot.exe erase userdata
obviously you need to have your phone in fastboot mode to do that. it does the exact same thing as rsd, just only the 2 important steps, flashing system and wiping data.)
Let me know how that works for you. It may not since you have had flash failures, but we'll see.
moto-fastboot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=635584&d=1308928440 you should actually extract it and put all the things in it in the folder with system.img
Good luck!

Flashed my atrix 2 and fastboot fail
I bought my atrix 2 from US and unlocked it and am using this in india now. I tried to flashboot the phone with "5.5.1-EDEM-28-37-SEARET_cfc.xml". I added the new files thats available in the noob called replace.zip. I also tried the moto fast boot. Now am not able to flashboot and when i run flashboot i get this error "failed flashing process. 11/21 flash ebr "ebr"-> Phone returned fail; Phone connected" .
Please help me.
I just got my ATT Atrix 2 and I think I've already bricked it, soft at least. I used a script to go from 2.3.6 back to 2.3.5 stock, then OTA to 2.3.6, then I flashed the ICS leak and flashed SCV7, it was running horribly, kept crashing and was being extremely unstable so then I tried to use the FXZ script to go from ICS back to GB, and all my phone was doing was showing the Motorola dual core screen and boot looping or just staying on that screen I couldn't tell. I can get into fastboot, when I try to get into recovery there is an icon of a box with an arrow coming out of it and a little android and a yellow progress bar and when that finishes it goes to fastboot and it says "AP FastBoot Flash Mode (S) (Flash Failure) what can I do?

The battery is low going by my luck I'm going to assume the phone will not charge while in fast boot. I've been at this for way too many hours, if someone could tell me how to get this phone working I'd appreciate it.

[Q] Help Needed: Return to stock Honeycomb 4G LTE

First:
Hoping someone can provide some assistance. I would like to get back to stock ICS 4.0.4 on my Verizon Xoom 4G LTE since i am hoping that 4.1.1 will be released soon OTA. Does anyone have stock 4.0.4 download? With or without root is fine. Stock 3.X would be ok to. I just want to get back to stock.
Second: In case anyone has any ideas
I have several 4.0.4. Nandroids that will not restore for me in CWM. Very recently I did two things that I am wondering if might have caused part of the problem:
1) Upgraded to new CWM 6.0.1.9
2) Flashed a test 4.2 ROM
Thoughts?

I started with MZ602_HLK75D (trying to find where I downloaded from. If you can't find let me know and I will put it on drop box)
You will lose everything on you internal SD card so make sure to pull anything you want off your Xoom before you start. USB Debugging needs to be enabled as well
Extract the MZ602_HLK75D zip file so you have: boot.img, system.img, recovery.img, userdata.img and place these files in your SDK folder
Open a command prompt by SHIFT + RIGHT CLICK on your SDK FOLDER
Adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot
After it reboots and you sign in etc it will check for upgrade and there will be a few Honeycomb upgrades before you get back up to 4.0.4 (locked and w/out root & w/out CWM but you can just redo that part too)
I cannot find the file MZ602_HLK75D.zip. Could you provide a link? Thanks.
Let me know if this works:

Wiped N5 now NO OS! Have TWRP

Hello,
I meant to factory restore my rooted N5 and on the advanced TWRP option I chose wipe data. Now I have no OS. I'm not finding a guide on how to install the stock 4.4.2 onto my N5 using a Mac. Is there a process that shows how to do that exactly for a Mac?
thx,
Mark
Install windows on your mac using bootcamp or VMware. just use windows 7/8 trial.

Yes, I have VMWare and Windows 7 installed. But, what is the process to get the stock rom back onto my phone? I've got TWRP and able to get into Bootloader mode.

Look in the general section and at the top is the guide you need to get sorted, good luck and dont panic you haven't killed it.
You don't have to do all that just sideload a stock rom onto the phone

Afaik know you can`t sideload a stock image, only flash in fastboot. Correct me if i`am wrong though. OP can sideload a custom rom and from there return to stock or as @Pirateghost said just use the sdk to flash the image straight away.

100% Correct, OP can choose to do it that way or flash stock image in fastboot there's no need to use Windows at all.
Not working

Well, I have the Nexus Android Toolkit for oneclick root etc. I don't believe I have USB debugging "on" and I have no OS on the phone to set it to "on". The toolkit will not install the Stock rom is downloaded because is says there's a name mismatch. I choose the option to change name etc and install anyway and it just loops with the same mismatch issue.
Really frustrating. How do I download a .zip file of the rom so I can flash it. All I get are .tgz files when I download the stock rom.
Any ideas?

Just put your faith in toolkits, why don`t you post your question in the toolkits thread. Let them clean up the mess Sorry if i sound a wee harsh but i HATE toolkits, they cause more problems for uneducated users than they do good.

OK, got that set up and ./fastboot devices shows my device serial #.
Now, as long as my USB debugging is "on" (I have no way to toggle that since I have no OS, only recovery. Does the fastboot devices command working verify that USB debugging is "on"?
Now to find instructions on how what the flash commands are.

Download the factory image and extract with 7-zip and find a Mac flash.all command in the fastboot folder which you can select i guess. Haven`t had a Mac ever so no xperience. Make sure you have the following img files :radio, boot, bootloader, system.img zip, cache and userdata placed in the fastboot folder.
Look here for a tutorial http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/526920/20131203/flash-factory-image-nexus-complete-stock-return.htm.

Guide: How to flash english firmware to chinese huawei watch 2 sim card variant

Hello all of you,
even if it is not my watch model, I decide to summarize here a simple and fast guide about how to flash english rom into Shark variant of HW2.
ALL credits to jacklam2005 who point out where to find files, wildlime who gently upload files here, roronono who has find the fast and easy way to get it work.
So here we are:
-make sure you have ADB activated on watch and all files needed on your pc (there are plenty of guides on xda so please search and read it if needed).
-download zip file from here : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_ZC_EcYPcnrc0E1b3dMWmZKalE/view?usp=drivesdk (thanks to wildlime)
-you can run it as per word doc instruction inside package, but maybe you will get "Package error" with no result on process. if that, do this steps (thanks to roronono):
-pull out from the zip "HUAWEI WATCH Modem_Update_NXG74I_release.exe", open it with 7zip or similar and take out in a folder those 6 .img files:
bootloader, boot, cache, recovery, system, userdata.
-Boot the watch into bootloader mode
-Use the following commands one by one:
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
fastboot oem unlock (no needed if you already unlock your watch)
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot oem lock (not needed if you want your watch unlocked)
fastboot reboot
done.
Hope this help all of you having HW with sim card slot (shark), once again, credit to jacklam2005, wildlime and roronono for their good job.
Feel free to point out any update about proper firmware here !!
regards

normally the update should be upgraded in command prompt.
and I have never heard that "upgrading port was not found" message.
but you may try to reinstall the android usb driver.
If you get the devices and driver ready,
in the command prompt, you can try to type "fastboot devices"
It should revert back with something like
C:\adb>fastboot devices
TKQ7NXXXXXXXXX fastboot
Then you are good to go with the rest procedure.
If you read better in Chinese, let me know, I will supplement in Chinese and English.

This watch is sold in different region. Although there might be some slight version different between different region, e.g. US/ EU, we are good to use any international / Global rom which supports Google Play. So the major different version for that watch is really the Global/International vs China ROM. China Rom is totally different because Google is not available in Mainland China. And this thread helps to convert a Chinese ROM into Global / International ROM.

This ROM is a very recent rom, so there is still no OTA available yet. However, if you are using un-verified rom, your boot loader will warn you during boot. And this rom is good with the bootloader without any warning. In this regards, I believe this ROM is OTA friendly.

they are from the same source.
Some package may contain un-necessary files that you really DON'T want it.
Please skip those files when you are extracting.
You will only need those IMG files.
I will personally use the download from this link. This file is the original.
However, you will need to follow the instruction to obtain those IMGs.
(Make sure you put it in 4G / SIM card variant only)
