Okay Google doesn't appear on widget? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, on my Nexus 5 Okay Google works all the time, except for the fact I've never seen it say to say Okay Google on the widget. Should I worry or it might be better, so everyone will not know to always mess with my device and I? I also know I have the latest Google Now.

And yes the mic is filled in
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

I'm not 100% sure but I THINK that it stops saying that on the widget after you've used the "OK Google" command for the first time. Mine had that same message at first but it vanished after I actually used it

Oh true maybe, I don't really remember seeing it. Maybe I was too excited and used it right away ?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Yeah I was wondering about it too lol for some reason I enjoyed having the little animated text reminder on the widget

Yes a little reminder once in awhile would not hurt

Jellybean on N5?

So I'm sure this question will be regarded as heresy, but here it goes...
Is there a way to run Jellybean on my new Nexus 5?
I ask this as the one app my company requires for email is not yet supported on KK. I cannot switch to this phone until I can do that, so my new N5 is sitting in a drawer now.

I'm sure there is a way but unfortunately will never be done. To much time and effort to be moving backwards. Sorry bud

That's what I figured, but who knows.

Just don't hold your breath.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
What did you say? I passed out from a lack of oxygen.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
There might be other ways to get the email. If the app you are using is because of some type of MDM your company uses and they also support OWA, there are a number of OWA clients that will work and will still get your email (just via pull rather than push - so there could me a couple minute delay on emails).
... seriously?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
When you say it's not supported, do you mean it won't even install on 4.4? Or it crashes when you try to run it?
It crashes when I run it.
We do support OWA,. What client so you recommend?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
I use touchdown which is probably the best of the email apps. Supposedly it works with owa, i think it does so through the exchange 2003 and 2007 settings. That said, I've not tried it myself through those because it detects my activesync. Maybe others or nitro software can answer definitively.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I've had no luck getting owa to work through a client today. I think they've locked it down.
I found a thread where Citrix responded that they should have an update next week to fix this anyway.

Did you get this running?
I managed to find an apk and the file that goes with it, installed, but when it comes to the location part on the intro it just freezes on me

Yeah. It runs fine. I really like it.
Did you get version 1.01? That's the updated app.

Yeah I'm running the 1.0.1 version. Always crashes when it asks about location. Could you link me to the one you installed, please?

Thanks, that's the one I've been using. Always crashes when it asks about location I get to this screen and it just freezes with the background music still playing </3

Works for me. What other apps do you have running? Could be a conflict.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Closed everything and cleared with android task killer, still crashing there.
*sigh*
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I don't know. I'm at a loss. All that's left is to email the developer. I did that when it stalled at black screen in the first version. [email protected].

Thanks
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Show me a screenshot. I'm not sure about what red triangle you're talking about. It could me a message that failed to deliver

If you install SlimKat rom, theres an option to use the original SMS app...
Sorted you were right it was to do with a message
Thanks for us help
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Kitkat for the Nexus 4 already comes with a messaging app. You just have to set it as default.

I uses SMS+ to back up my SMS messages from my old phone to GMail. I can't seem to restore them t 8SMS or Hangouts. Has anyone else been able to restore their SMS messages from another device to their Nexus 5 successfully?

I'm using AOSP MMS.apk and love it. Haven't looked back at hangouts at all. Stupid idea on Google's part.

Google hangouts

I know this has maybe been mentioned before but are people still having issues with the double messaging bug within hangouts? I've read that its because of low signal and maybe a carrier issue but I have full signal and changed sim cards twice! Surely Google have picked up on this???

I had that issue, too. Using EvolveSMS now and have no problems.

I haven't had any problems since day 1. might be because I'm using team blackout clear hangouts app
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I always used the stock hangouts app and I never faced problems with it.

hangouts works flawless here except the rom im using isn't accepting mms pics (ROM issue not hangouts)
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Wish I could say the same guys. If you Google 'hangouts sending double messages' you'll see that it seems to be a issue across the board.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I get it randomly from time to time. I'd switch but the video calling is pretty smooth
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Yeah I'm the same. I really like hangouts as my SMS app. Don't want to be changing it.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I've only gotten a double message once so far out of the weeks I've had this phone. Not even sure it was an issue on my end

No Sound During Google Maps Navigation

Hi all! I've noticed this problem since 4.4.2...now I've upgraded to 4.4.3 and the problem is still here thus I don't think it's a rom problem but it's surely something wrong with settings (I've controlled them but they seems ok). Audio is almost "perfect" (normal) in every situation except for gmaps. BT is OFF..I don't use it...please help...I hope a full wipe will not be necessary...
thanks all!
