Hey there.
Since october my WIFI is totally borked.
I can't activate it, it will switch itself off in the moment after.
I read, that it is recommend to do a full wipe (done, multiple times) or switch kernel (also did, but since Sultan is working for everyone, it shouldn't be the kernel) or to reflash the stock WIFI modules in recovery.
Already tried with multiple recoveries... and didn't worked within TWRP nor 4EXT.
I already tried Network Scanning Error & MMS Fix for AOSP CM AOKP, also I flashed an older kernel (r36, last one where WIFI was working), did a nandroid backup -> full wipe -> restore, but also didn't fixed it.
Also I tried the following
create a text file , called wifi.sh
copy this in it:
sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db "INSERT INTO secure (name, value) VALUES ('wifi_country_code', 'EN');"
now run the file as su like this, in terminal:
su
sh wifi.sh
turn wifi off/on, it's working!
Click to collapse
But didn't worked (probably did it wrong..lolz). I also tried a kernel reset (third option in Aroma).
WiFiX 1.2 with WiFiX Manager 1.32 also hadn't worked.
I even flashed a new rom today (Sultan CM 11 Android 4.4 (11/17 build) but still can't activate WIFI.
It's the only thing that isn't working and I nearly tried everything, so I thought probably anyone had the same issues and could help me or point me in the right direction.
I also flashed all three files from Network Scanning Error & MMS Fix for AOSP JB & KitKat ROMs, but since it's not the scanning, it's the "button" it also didn't helped.
try a ruu.exe
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672425
I have same problem with my phone, cant enable wifi and bluetooth. Does your bluetooth work ? I have tried to install original andriod but didnt help. I follow this to see if you get yours to work
I never tried to enable Bluetooth, since I don't need it most of the time, but you are completely right, it also isn't possible to enable bluetooth.
I also don't see a ruu will fix my problem, but I will see, what I can do.

HTC One XL on Telstra
I just updated my firmware to 4.1.1 and I can connect to WiFi without a problem, but I can't load any webpages. It's basically been rendered useless since the update. My computer(s) can still connect to the same network without a problem and load pages.
I can also access the modem settings from my phone, but I can't seem to get any connectivity. I used WiFi to update the software also.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Did you flash the new radio too?

When you say you upgraded your firmware to 4.1.1, do you mean that you installed one of the Asian JB ROMs? Did you try forgetting the network and re-adding it?

Interesting, I did not now a Telstra update had been released.
If you tap the wifi connection, do you get an option to forget it? Have you rebooted your phone?

Telstra released 3.17, their JB update on Christmas Eve as planned.
Was your phone standard before you updated?
Eg were you running stock Telstra software prior to the update it offered you? You should not take over the air updates unless you are running standard software to begin with.
I dont believe anyone else is having this issue and many many people have updated.
Try resetting your router? Personally this sounds like a modem issue.
Forget the network and readd, while adding click advanced options and make sure your IP settings are correct for your network, eg DHCP.
Try resetting settings on either your phone or router?
Contact Telstra regarding the issue and if they have any solutions?
PS. on a second thought it sounds like DNS is not working. You should try to prove if it is your router or phone that is stopping DNS from working.
I agree that it does sound like DNS, can you check the DNS resolution or toggle the DNS servers.
Try dialing:
*#*#526#*#*
It is supposed to reinstall the wifi driver
I am having an identical problem with my telstra one XL.
I have tried 3 different modems so it is definitely not a modem issue.
I booted in safe mode to see if that would help and it didnt.
Dialing *#*#526#*#* didnt do anything, once i input the last star it just clears everything i dialed.

wish i didnt have to resort to this but a data reset has fixed my issue wifi is working fine

You are making this out to be more complex than it is.
Look you have 3 clear options:
1)Complain to Telstra (who will likely suggest #2 "data reset")
2)Do what others suggest to fix the problem, eg data reset
3)Do not use wifi.
Complaining to Telstra is the correct thing to do as perhaps they can get HTC to release a fix for it?
But a fix from Telstra is unlikely to be timely. If you want this resolved soon do #2 or #3.
Hey, I think I'm having the same issue. I'm sending this from my tablet over wifi, however my phone will not connect to the internet on the same network.
The network configuration is Modem > Router > Device, and I can access (log in, change settings, etc) the router from my one xl, but not the modem, nor the internet. Quite strange...especially as it is the same network over which I downloaded the JB update, so it clearly was working, but now isn't :/
Anyway, hope the extra info helps
Hi All,
I am using Samsung Galaxy S3 with CM 10.1 with a version CM 10.1_20121220-NIGHTLY-d2att, it is working fine till now, once I made an upgrade to later versions , it is doing reboots after screen off. Also sound related apps are not working. Current version I tried is CM_10.1-20121229-NIGHTLY-d2att, still same issue.
Does anybody ran into this issue ?
Please let me know the solution ?

something wrong happened to sound related module and it is causing reboot whenever screen turns off,
current version running CM 10.1 20121220 manually loaded the software not through updates from CM updater.
is anybody there to help me on this situation

Now with CM 10.1 20120104 onwards sound related apps are working fine...but not stopping reboot after screen turns off. I tried several ways its still not working.
does it could be the reason of jumping Kernel version from 3.0.50 to 3.0.57, CPU ARMv7 Processor ??
Does my hardware supports it ?
does anybody ran into this issue please help me ?

Are you using stock kernel - I've had this problem with Devil kernel and it's related to Deep Sleep being enabled. Try a wipe and reflash though with stock kernel.
Thanks for the information.....between i hard bricked my phone when i flashed a wrong CWM.
Before this i have tried to upgrade to CWM 6.0.2.7 from 6.0.1.2, it doesn't work.......stay on the first screen of recovery mode and turned off.
After this trail i tried a incompatible CWM 5.0.8.5 and i turned off the phone to get back to download mode and reflash the working one 6.0.1.2 .....thats it.....it is dead onwards......i hard bricked my phone......
I tried to bring back the mobile with linux mehod of QHUSB_Dload ....succeeded to bring the usb driver but not into download mode to reflash again........

Hi, I've been using packet data on my phone (Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus S7500) with stock firmware ever since I go my phone.
I've been trying to install CyanogenMod 10.1 for 3 days, and I can not get packet data to work; I have created the APN as should be for my network provider, but nothing happens; it looks like the phone does not even try connecting to the 3G APN.
Is there anything specifc to be done in order to get packet data working again?

I had seen that post of yours already and I had tried it, in vain. Mine seems to be a different problem altogether; it looks like my phone does not even try connecting through the packet data APN for some reason.
When I'm on that screen (*#*#4636#*#* --> Phone Info), there's a field in there which says "Data Attempts: 0". I even tried accessing the menu on that screen, and there was "Enable data connection", I thought that would do the trick, but nada!
Is there some way I can debug this to see why the phone is not using the Data APN?
Ah, by the way, I have also tried with CM-10, same problem. When I revert back to stock firmware, works perfectly.

As far as i know you are the only 1 i saw who have this problem, others are low connection only. You sure you set your apn correctly? Note your apn setting in stock then flash cm check the apn setting if it is the same on the stock. Or just try to reflash the rom and make sure you follow the installation guide in op.
Try also to consult others maybe they can help.

Well, like I said, after I saw that Packet Data was not working on CM-10.1, I flashed to stock firmware; I created the same APN with the exact same settings as on 10.1, it worked fine; I thought I'd try CM-10 this time, so I did, and I created the same APN again, doesn't work; now I have reinstalled 10.1, with the hope that we come up with a solution soon.
Is there anyway I can see some connection debugging? Using adb, or otherwise? There must be a reason why the phone is not choosing the packet data APN, right?
Edit: I don't know if this could help, but I'm from a tiny island in the Indian Ocean called Mauritius. My operator is Emtel, and you can see the settings for Android on their website (emtel.mu/android). Based on that page, I am supposed to set up the APN as follows:
- For Name, enter WEB
- For APN, enter web
- For APN Type select Internet
- Leave all other entries blank
- Save

On stock firmware, I do have a drop-down to 'Select Internet' for APN type. On CM-10 and CM-10.1 however, I don't have the drop-down; I have only a textfield; could that be a problem?

Ok, so I was able to fix it in a very simple way; I checked out this post (showthread.php?t=2316943), and in there they tell you how to manually modify the /system/etc/apns-conf.xml file; I checked it and went through it, checking how the other APNs were set up; it turns out I just had to change APN Type to "Default" instead of "Internet" as specified on Emtel's website.
It now works!
Thanks for trying to help , ANDROID-000.
Just for clarification; I ended up not needing to modify the /system/etc/apns-conf.xml file manually; I just changed the APN Type from the interface.

Go into safestrap do a factory reset, then boot to download mode and use Odin to flash full stock rom. This will wipe out your safestrap too. It will bring you back the orignal phone like you just purchased from the store. Just make sure you don't flash OE1 or OG5. This will locked your bootloader for ever.
Whenever I start to have wifi gremlins, I delete the folder data/misc/wifi and reboot. You lose your saved wifi and hotspot settings, but it seems to resolve a lot of different wifi issues.
Recently I updated to CM13 (the most recent snapshot) and I find that my data has been acting up. When my phone first boots up it works fine, but if I lose signal my phone will not reconnect to data unless I reboot. I tried toggling airplane mode, but to no avail. APN settings are correct. Is there a new radio I need?
It's the firmware that is causing it, flash this:
CM12.1_05-15-15_modem_firmware.zip
I've had problems ever since the first time I loaded 13. Every time I load a new ROM, I have to flash [Firmware_OxygenOS-2.1.4] to get my connection to work. I've tried the Frankenstein Firmware and every other Firmware I can find. The one listed above is the only one that works for me.

It's because you're using a non-compatible recovery which doesn't allow the file (The Cyanogen recovery). You need to install a recovery like TWRP to flash the file.
I'm not sure about the WiFi. It might be the stock rom that you're using, but I don't know because I haven't used it since I bought my phone.
