Packet data not working on CyanogenMod 10.1 on Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus S7500 - Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus S7500

Hi, I've been using packet data on my phone (Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus S7500) with stock firmware ever since I go my phone.
I've been trying to install CyanogenMod 10.1 for 3 days, and I can not get packet data to work; I have created the APN as should be for my network provider, but nothing happens; it looks like the phone does not even try connecting to the 3G APN.
Is there anything specifc to be done in order to get packet data working again?

I had seen that post of yours already and I had tried it, in vain. Mine seems to be a different problem altogether; it looks like my phone does not even try connecting through the packet data APN for some reason.
When I'm on that screen (*#*#4636#*#* --> Phone Info), there's a field in there which says "Data Attempts: 0". I even tried accessing the menu on that screen, and there was "Enable data connection", I thought that would do the trick, but nada!
Is there some way I can debug this to see why the phone is not using the Data APN?
Ah, by the way, I have also tried with CM-10, same problem. When I revert back to stock firmware, works perfectly.

As far as i know you are the only 1 i saw who have this problem, others are low connection only. You sure you set your apn correctly? Note your apn setting in stock then flash cm check the apn setting if it is the same on the stock. Or just try to reflash the rom and make sure you follow the installation guide in op.
Try also to consult others maybe they can help.

Well, like I said, after I saw that Packet Data was not working on CM-10.1, I flashed to stock firmware; I created the same APN with the exact same settings as on 10.1, it worked fine; I thought I'd try CM-10 this time, so I did, and I created the same APN again, doesn't work; now I have reinstalled 10.1, with the hope that we come up with a solution soon.
Is there anyway I can see some connection debugging? Using adb, or otherwise? There must be a reason why the phone is not choosing the packet data APN, right?
Edit: I don't know if this could help, but I'm from a tiny island in the Indian Ocean called Mauritius. My operator is Emtel, and you can see the settings for Android on their website (emtel.mu/android). Based on that page, I am supposed to set up the APN as follows:
- For Name, enter WEB
- For APN, enter web
- For APN Type select Internet
- Leave all other entries blank
- Save

On stock firmware, I do have a drop-down to 'Select Internet' for APN type. On CM-10 and CM-10.1 however, I don't have the drop-down; I have only a textfield; could that be a problem?

Ok, so I was able to fix it in a very simple way; I checked out this post (showthread.php?t=2316943), and in there they tell you how to manually modify the /system/etc/apns-conf.xml file; I checked it and went through it, checking how the other APNs were set up; it turns out I just had to change APN Type to "Default" instead of "Internet" as specified on Emtel's website.
It now works!
Thanks for trying to help , ANDROID-000.
Just for clarification; I ended up not needing to modify the /system/etc/apns-conf.xml file manually; I just changed the APN Type from the interface.

I can`t enable internet in MIUI

After installing MIUI I can`t enable data transfer (2g/3g internet). Data transfer is turning on, but there is no 2g/3g logo and internet. This happens after installing all MIUI stock and custom roms. APN settings is correct, before it was ok. I`m installing via Clockwork recovery v5. Device is G2x (P999)
What should I do? How to enable it?
I believe for the g2x you should see an H next to the bars, that is if you are in a good service area.
Otherwise I think it also shows G, and E.
If it doesn't have anything at all, then I'm not sure.
Does the internet work when you go inti the browser?

Hey go to SETTINGS->MOBILE NETWORKS->ACCESS POINT NAMES-> in here select option button in your android phone, in the menu select NEW APN, you will get the APN settings as seen in this. In the link ACCESS NUMBER = SERVER in mobile.
As I am not allowed to post link for first ten TIMES! will guide you through
google search -> "vodafone apn address" the third result will be GPRS APN Settings with Username and Password - Modem Unlock. Click it and follow the method above mentioned.

LTE / CM9 CM10 Roms

I know a lot of people have been reporting issues with getting or keeping LTE with some of the CM based roms. I too had the issue.
After digging through threads for the HOX and several other devices I was able to find a solution (for me) and just wanted to share my findings here in a fresh thread (plus I'm a noob and can't post in the developer threads for those experiencing the issue).
Any time I went from a 4.0.4 Sense-based rom to any of the cm based roms I could never get my LTE to stick even after changing apns or *#*#info#*#*. What I discovered was if I would flash a Sense-based rom that was prior to 4.0.4 (I use cleanrom 4.0) , wipe caches, full wipe and then install the CM based rom all things were good with my LTE regardless of which radio I flashed.
Hopefully this will help some of you out there.
I've also discovered that coming from cr4.5 that there are settings that stick...namely wifi settings. I've wiped everything on my phone including internal storage and flashed something new and in the newly flashed roms there are wifi settings were remembered.
I don't know where any of this stuff is stored in the phone but i thought that a full system wipe, cache, dalvich would have cleared EVERYTHING.

Wipe Caches, Factory Reset, System wipe. Everything but the SD card.
[EDIT] I shouldn't say "everything". No need to wipe battery stats, rotation or SD card for this particular fix.
Should I do a fresh flash of cm? Or do u think a cm backup would work?
(Update), dirty flash back no working for that. Too lazy to go other route at this point.

I am with Rogers. I see rogers-core-appl1.apn that was set by default.
I do not know if this should or not connect to LTE. I found on a website that I could use ltemobile.apn but its only getting me HSPA and 3G.
I might have to reflash on cleanrom 4.0 and compare APN. but i do get 4G-LTE with clean rom
Anyone can tell me what APN they use to get LTE on rogers with all APN info?
Thanks
---------- Post added at 12:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:16 AM ----------
SUCCESS !!!!!
ok, so the APN was indeed rogers-core-appl1.apn and this one does not give LTE access.
I set up a new APN as below
Name: Rogers LTE
APN: ltemobile.apn
MMSC: xxxx://mms.gprs.rogers.com (please xxxx by https at beginning of the line... sorry as I am new on forum I cannot paste URL)
MMS Proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS Port: 80
MCC - 302
MNC - 720
APN Type: *
I then changed the mode to LTE/GSM/CDMA using the *#*#4636#*#* and I now get 4g icon that means LTE.
I also see the its LTE from the phone info page.
Thanks for your help.!!

For the Rogers phones I have done 3 of them now and when you flash CleanRom 4.0 you have to go in and setup the Rogers APN and connect at least once. I found this makes a huge difference. If you don't for whatever reason the settings don't stick.
Once you flash CM10 I turn mobile data off and erase the 3 APN's that are listed. I then start fresh with a new APN for LTE.
I only have HSPA+ out here where I am so I can't test if the LTE or 4G symbol comes up. I have noticed that with HSPA+ I still only show as connected to HSPA under Phone Info but the speeds are HSPA+.
The settings for the APN that I used for Rogers is:
Name Rogers LTE
APN ltemobile.apn
Proxy Not Set
Port Not Set
User Not Set
Pass Not Set
server Not Set
mmsc http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
mms proxy 10.128.1.69
mms port 80
mms protocol WAP 2.0
mcc 302
mnc 720
auth Not Set
apn type *
apn enabled enabled
bearer unspecified
Also CM10 erases the voicemail number from the phone. So call your phone from your phone and access your voicemail. If you check your call log after that the voicemail number should show up there.

yes I had that fixed. number is +1 514 992 1188 for my region (Montreal)
By the way, the signal type reset on reboot. I need to dial *#*#4636#*#* and select LTE/GSM/CDMA.
I know some people have made it stick and I followed the instructions but it does not work for me. hopefully they can fix this.
I cleared everything and flashed to cleanROM 4.0 then cleared again and installed CM10-8-29.
This is a minior issue but gets on my nerves.
Cheers !

Its not working either. Nothing seems to get the signal type to stick on my phone.
Its a minor bug and I guess I can be patient and wait for a fix.
The one that is really bugging me is the low volume on calls.

[Q] Need help : Com.Android.Phone failed

I have a Verizon S III (Stock, Rooted). I was travelling internationally with it and was using it on GSM (using HiAPN app). It was working fine and then Com.Android.Phone failed msg popped up. I lost outgoing calls due to that. I tried various things and ended up doing factory reset. Now when the phone powers up it tries to activate and fails as I still get the com, android,,phone failed error. I also flash JB rom but I still get the same msg.
Any suggestions in this situation?

Did you do a full wipe and flash the latest JB rom or just re-flash the JB rom and leave your settings/apps intact?
Did you switch your sim when you went global? Did you switch some phone settings? Did you use a program to alter your APN (?) settings? What did you do to go global?
If yes to any of the above -- that's probably why. You need to be more informative in your post. Your post as is basically says nothing.

Yes, I used a local SIM card. I used a program called HiAPN to switch APN settings and changed the network from CDMA/LTE to GSM/WCDMA preferred. ,

[Q] WiFi not working

HTC One XL on Telstra
I just updated my firmware to 4.1.1 and I can connect to WiFi without a problem, but I can't load any webpages. It's basically been rendered useless since the update. My computer(s) can still connect to the same network without a problem and load pages.
I can also access the modem settings from my phone, but I can't seem to get any connectivity. I used WiFi to update the software also.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Sorry, should have clarified, I just updated the firmware via the network. So a notification came up that there was an update available and I just did it that way.

Interesting, I did not now a Telstra update had been released.
If you tap the wifi connection, do you get an option to forget it? Have you rebooted your phone?

Telstra released 3.17, their JB update on Christmas Eve as planned.
Was your phone standard before you updated?
Eg were you running stock Telstra software prior to the update it offered you? You should not take over the air updates unless you are running standard software to begin with.
I dont believe anyone else is having this issue and many many people have updated.
Try resetting your router? Personally this sounds like a modem issue.
Forget the network and readd, while adding click advanced options and make sure your IP settings are correct for your network, eg DHCP.
Try resetting settings on either your phone or router?
Contact Telstra regarding the issue and if they have any solutions?
PS. on a second thought it sounds like DNS is not working. You should try to prove if it is your router or phone that is stopping DNS from working.
I agree that it does sound like DNS, can you check the DNS resolution or toggle the DNS servers.
Try dialing:
*#*#526#*#*
It is supposed to reinstall the wifi driver
I am having an identical problem with my telstra one XL.
I have tried 3 different modems so it is definitely not a modem issue.
I booted in safe mode to see if that would help and it didnt.
Dialing *#*#526#*#* didnt do anything, once i input the last star it just clears everything i dialed.

wish i didnt have to resort to this but a data reset has fixed my issue wifi is working fine

Yeah I'm not willing to do a data reset unfortunately. Not too sure what to do at this point :/

You are making this out to be more complex than it is.
Look you have 3 clear options:
1)Complain to Telstra (who will likely suggest #2 "data reset")
2)Do what others suggest to fix the problem, eg data reset
3)Do not use wifi.
Complaining to Telstra is the correct thing to do as perhaps they can get HTC to release a fix for it?
But a fix from Telstra is unlikely to be timely. If you want this resolved soon do #2 or #3.
Hey, I think I'm having the same issue. I'm sending this from my tablet over wifi, however my phone will not connect to the internet on the same network.
The network configuration is Modem > Router > Device, and I can access (log in, change settings, etc) the router from my one xl, but not the modem, nor the internet. Quite strange...especially as it is the same network over which I downloaded the JB update, so it clearly was working, but now isn't :/
Anyway, hope the extra info helps

Cyanogenmod 13 Data Connection Loss

Recently I updated to CM13 (the most recent snapshot) and I find that my data has been acting up. When my phone first boots up it works fine, but if I lose signal my phone will not reconnect to data unless I reboot. I tried toggling airplane mode, but to no avail. APN settings are correct. Is there a new radio I need?
It's the firmware that is causing it, flash this:
CM12.1_05-15-15_modem_firmware.zip
I've had problems ever since the first time I loaded 13. Every time I load a new ROM, I have to flash [Firmware_OxygenOS-2.1.4] to get my connection to work. I've tried the Frankenstein Firmware and every other Firmware I can find. The one listed above is the only one that works for me.

thank you, but it gives me an error:

I also have this problem: sometimes data connection stop working, and I have to reboot the phone.
Moreover, also Wifi seems to work worse: when it fails to connect to my home connection, it stays disconnected from Wifi and I have to manually click to connect to make it try again and then succed.

It's because you're using a non-compatible recovery which doesn't allow the file (The Cyanogen recovery). You need to install a recovery like TWRP to flash the file.
I'm not sure about the WiFi. It might be the stock rom that you're using, but I don't know because I haven't used it since I bought my phone.

Please press thanks if it helped!
I had the same problem trying to go back to a stock rom so i could use Android pay, I'll give this a go as well. I would lose everything that used and kind of data connection (even Bluetooth would corrupt).
