Speaker Sound for sgs advance is very low but after using viper4droid and some change in back cover it is much louder than ever.
What u need
1)viper4droid sound engine u will get it here
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
>Downlod and install viper4droid reboot u r phone (u will get all things how to install and other stuff in thread)
> open viper4droid
>go to speaker configuration
>enable it
>enable speaker optimization
>enable xtraloud
>select effect strength extreme
> set gain lavel to 6db
2)some changes in back cover of sgs advance
>As i seen back cover of sgs advance, there is small sticker like covering where speraker outcome is there. U have to remove it with needle or any thing as u possible (as a point of protection from dust that cover is important but think thats major problem that speaker sound from our sgs advance doesnt come out throughly and removal of that cant affet speaker )
If u want to experience it before removing then remove u r back cover and play sound it is much more louder than with back cover.
> now u will see speakers are viewing through back cover
Now play u r music and see difference

Hi all
My loudspeaker squeaks at volumes 50% and higher. Even when the phone is ringing with the default att tone.
Coming from many motophones, I can say loud tones have never been a problem, so I didn't expect it.
Am I the lucky one, or what?
Thank you
No problems here.
did you check your equalizer settings? might be related to that.

I disabled the equalizer altogether, IIRC. I'll check.
The sound it makes is like when a dust grain gets trapped somewhere in the speaker... plastic vibrating from the sound waves. Just the "blip" the phone does when turning up volume is enough to trigger it.
did you try to take the back cover off and then play a sound again? is it still there then? if so then you might have a damaged speaker membrane, if its ok without back cover then you might have a damaged back cover that vibrates while playing music etc. does this problem also occur while talking over speaker?

Yeah it's still there, only if I seal the speaker with the finger it goes away somewhat, but the high frequency whine is still there.
I guess there's no easy way to repair it, like, say, blowing some compressed air near it?
It can clearly be heard while in speakerphone, but it's not as bothering (due to spkrphone voice lacking in low freqs).
sounds like the speaker membrane is whether damaged or dirt or whatever is under the speaker cover. i would advise to have it checked. or exchange the phone. doing it yourself with compressed air is one thing but you might damage it more and they might then refuse to exchange or fix it under guarantee terms. hope this helps.

Damn, can't return it
Guess I have to put up with it
well try and have it checked in a repair shop. maybe its really just something underneath the speaker case. they should have the right tools : -)

I disabled the sound effects (which btw I had left turned on for the external speaker) and the squeaking is reduced to bearable levels, at least for the ringtone. Thanks for the tip.
no problem.

i noticed lately that when i play songs or w/e in the rear speaker while full volume, the quality is just horrible and its very dirty sound.
could it be that the speaker got ruin from a drop? or could it be that its a software problem? or maybe this speaker is just like this while full volume?
thanks for the help.
no one have problem with the phone speaker?
Did you already try this on cm9 with some dsp speaker tweaks?

i yet started to play with rooms root and all those things.
right now im fully stock 2.21 untouched
I had this and found that the holes for the speaker on the bottom cover had been plugged. Cleaned them out and it has the same as factory sound again.
I'm curious what horrible means when talking about a tiny phone speaker. It's not really intended as a home theater system, simply a way to hear the narrow range of the human voice hands free. You probably should be using a dock or headphones.
it could be dirty or that it has gotten some water in it and has a short. i see this on a lot of iphones and samsungs in my line of work

I posted this in a reply but I believe this mod should have it own thread as lots of xperia z owners Still have the xperia z bundled earphones.
I recently decided to take out/rip out the white filters in the bundled xperia z earphones.
I ussualy don't ever do this on my headphones but due to the bundled earphones sounding alot worse than the original Sony ex300 even though they share the same name and are supposed to be the same. So I decided to compare thefilters on the earphones, and guess what?
the bundled earphones have really bad and dense filters. Compared to the light and spongy filter on the original ex300, these looked like a sound suppressing dense piece of tissue\paper.
after debating for a mere second, i decided to take them out with a needle.
Sound improved quite a bit on the earphones now, louder and a better soundstage with better bass, clarity and sound imaging.
Also not as harsh sounding as before, which is odd usually taking out filters has the opposite effect.
Iam sure with burn in they would improve even further, just like most Sony dynamic driver earphones.
I am listening to them now and iam really enjoying them now, adequate and good enough to use as everyday xperia z earphones. And miles better than any other bundled set.
Please try and report back.

Would like to see this too.
Incredible, sounds louder, clearer and the bass got a boost even...
Tip to those who want to do it: Just use scissors or anything sharp (Don't forget to remove the Silicon cups first of course), gently poke a hole in the white filter and just remove it. It's not a risky process. After you remove it there's just a hole - I'm guessing the drivers themselves are deeper inside, so unless you use something long and do it violently - It's unlikely you'll damage the set.
Sorry guys.. but i don't see anything white in my earphones.
I have only the black gum in contact with my ear and if i pull it away there's only a hole. Where are supposed to be this white things you are talking about?
Maybe my earphones came without it? In fact i really appreciated their sound!
How about dirt entering the hole left by removing the white thingy? Wouldn't it damage the phone?
Edit: Sorry, I meant the earphones.

Damage the phone??
You clean the EARPHONE Silicone tips as usual, and it shouldn't damage the EARPHONES
This is where the white paper filter used to be, and a pic with the silicone tip on afterwards

well.. i didn't have anything there.. don't know if it's strange
Think this thread deserves a bump as it really does make a big difference to listening enjoyment using the stock headphones.
I did it too, and the sound improved indeed! Thanks for the tip!
Jep did it also. Slight improvement.
But the sound quality wasn't bad anyways
What about dust problem? These white paper pads meant to hold dust and small particles away from earphone inner section. This could make the sound even worse than in stock condition if lots of sh*t is in there. Sadly i removed one pad first to test the sound, before thinking on implications. There is slightly better sound, but stock earphones are also ok.
You can use canned air to clean them out every month or so. Just make sure you keep the can a good distance away so you don't damage the speaker.
Thanks for the tip!!
afraid of the dust entering the earphone
if i remove the filters and go to the service station, can i get some good filters instead, ones, that dont block the sound much??
As the title suggests,
My top speaker is roughly 20/30% louder than the bottom one.
I assume this is because the bottom one has the mic in so it is a smaller speaker, just curious what everyone thinks?
Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
Nope, it's because the top speaker faces forwards and the bottom faces downwards try putting music on and pivot your phone and you'll see

Thanks, it makes sense now why the top of the phone vibrates through the back with the sound more than halfway, and the bottom one doesn't unless it is almost at full volume.

After a few hours of watching youtube videos and using various music apps, i can confirm that with my device all of the bass comes out of the top speaker, and the bottom one sounds very weak. It is strange when watching something in landscape because my left ear picks up most of the sound.
I have none of the sony sound booster things active.
Can someone else test this for me please? Or let me know if there is a way to disable the bottom speaker, i find it very annoying now that i can notice it properly.

Try enabling S-force Front Surround in settings>sound>soundsettings>sound effects
Just a heads up.... Dont max out the volume when you have the speaker mod installed. I installed it and didnt even play thru one song and my bottom speaker blow out. I am waiting for my replacement device from T-mobile and i hope this doesnt become a problem because i saw another thread where it sounds like the speaker blows easily :/

I wonder if this is the reason many LG V20 users who are using this are blowing out their speakers? Theres a 9 page thread already on blown out speakers.

It could be the problem. Mine blow out after 3/4s of a song... My phone is only 34 days old so its pretty shocking.
Blown speaker was my first thought when I noticed the speaker mod thread. I was tempted (because it was a mod of course) but wisely resisted (this time) as I knew I would have been one of the sad souls with a blown speaker, it's just my luck. Nope, no way, not touching that mod, I had enough returns with the N7s and interim devices.

Will any of these mods blow out the speaker? Mine did today. I ordered a new speaker on ebay
To be fair, we all knew the risk of modding the device to output beyond stock maximum volume.
There's a reason why LG did not themselves increase the volume further.
I use the mod myself, but only to increase the top speaker for the stereo effect, and I'm aware by doing that, increases the risk of the speaker dying prematurely.

One reason why they decreased the overall sound level in the 10i or 10J firmware update as well. The speaker is pretty crappy considering it's an audio video enthusiast device lol.
I still have issues hearing this phone's notifications coming from a Samsung S4 and Note 4 if it's in my pocket
