So the Galaxy Gear is the only smart watch i know of with a camera at the moment, but Qualcomm is coming out with a smart watch called the Toq, that has a battery life of 2-3 days, but it uses wireless charging in some sort of case. The Toq also comes with bluetooth headphones.
I couldn't imagine having to charge the galaxy gear every day to much of a hassle.
Keep an eye out for a Google smart watch.

Anyway to adapt a iphone speaker dock to galaxy SII?

Hey just got a Galaxy S2 after having an iphone, but I still own this

and wanted to know if there was an adapter to use it with a Galaxy S2? Or am I being too optimistic
You can start by posting in the right forum.
Wrong Forum
This is the I9000 Forum (Samsung Galaxy S) Not GSII(i9100) But no it would not be possible due to the output. It really depends on what dock ect...
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/iPod-iPh...s_Apple_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cb2e9b41f
Thats your best option, i have a similar dock and was thinking about making a little thing to sit into the ipod dock with the female adapter in the bottom, and having the charging and 3.5 sitting out the top.
That way i could just put my phone into it, upside down as i have the galaxy s it would work out well, also using a custom rom that supports a 180 degree rotation, so the screen would be the right way around aswell.
good cable shame its not to micro usb instead so it can get a charge

Are you sure? I have the Epic 4GT running ICS. In the settings under dock it says, "Audio Output Mode - Use external speakers when device is docked."
I dont have a dock to try it out and see if it works though.

MHL OTG

Does anyone have an idea whether its possible to use MHL + OTG with charging on the Skyrocket? Whether it be stock or an aftermarket rom/kernel doesn't matter. I can't seem to find a definitive answer on this phone, but I'm leaning toward not possible.
This is what I planned on ordering. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009LAZG2M/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I would assume since the MHL adapter puts the device in charge mode, it wouldn't read the attached usb device (if using a hub or y adapter) since it is not in Host mode. Any have any experiance with this or have any links they can provide. It would be much appreciated!

I have the same cable and mhl works as long add the rom supports it. As for your question I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1741583&page=21 and on the last page there is a link for someone who got it to work on as3 however our phones have different pin configuration but you should be able to do the same thing as him
OTG while using MHL sounds like a great way to fry something important on your phone. it's clear the note 2 had something like this in mind with the smart dock. it looks like the smart dock works with the S3 so it could be that the way they designed the usb port it all just works as needed for this.
I'm interested in the usecase/motivation for doing both at the same time if you don't mind sharing.

Well my Skyrocket screen was destroyed by my youngest son So, I had an idea to use the old phone with the MHL adapter to connect to my TV (which is not a smart TV). The need for the OTG is to plug in peripherals such as kb/mouse, but after further review, i could probably just use bluetooth. The device itself doesn't need to have much storage really, all of the movies are being streamed from my mini home server (DLNA).
So instead of going out and spending 60 on a smart TV adapater, I figured I would try to make use of what I already had, a phone with a broken screen. I'm not even sure the digitizer works and I was unable to find a replacement screen a decent price. The phone has already been replaced with a Nexus 4, so I'm not really concerned with the "safety" of the skyrocket.
I think it would be nice to use it as a TV adapter, surf net, play games watch movies while in bed using a wireless mouse/keyboard.
You would think there would already be something like this out there...
I came across this, then noticed their statement "Use Bluetooth keyboard for wireless control" Which really tells me no OTG... and heard was broken ha.

S4 DockMode works on iBOLT xProDock...

Hello everyone, with this post we can confirm that the Galaxy S4's vehicle "DockMode" works perfect with the xProDock. See image where it was checked today against AT&T's and Sprint's version. Friends from Europe have also confirmed it works fine with the International version.
Driving using the "DockMode" combined with a Bluetooth for hands-free is great as it turns your S4 into a virtual driving assistant and entertainment center, all while you stay away from texting while driving. Keeping the phone above the dashboard obviously also increases both cell phone and GPS reception. Stepping out of the car with a charged phone is another nice benefit with using a charging dock.
Connect the S4 into the xPro and go to "Settings-Accessory" and select "Dock Sound", "Audio out" and "Deskhome display" and then download your favorite "docking app". We've found our own "Dock'n Drive", "CarHome Ultra", "Ulysse Speedometer", "TuneIn" and "Slacker Radio" to be the S4 "Dock home" alternatives. We recommend using one of the first three and then have "shortcuts" to your favorite apps.
The aux-out sound to car-stereo through the microUSB cable also works great on the S4. This means the car-dock only needs ONE cable connected and yet at the other end it splits into a USB male connection and 3.5 mm aux-out that you connect into the vehicle's car-stereo (not needed if you have Bluetooth A2DP support). Keep in mind that Samsung's firmware only allows for "App sound" to be transmitted to the car-speakers through the microUSB, NOT phone calls so you must still use a Bluetooth solution for in-and outgoing calls.
Camera view is also free so you can use the S4 as an excellent "dash cam" with one of the many apps available for capturing video using a "loop". All cases are compatible, even Otterbox Defender or Ballistic Maxx type.
We have also started to ship our new "Stick Anywhere" mount with this which means you can attach it directly to the dashboard's hard surface without using the "disc" used for many years with car-docks. If you don't like the suction Mount concept there's an AMPS plate option which allows you to mount the xPro on a KUDA or ProClip mount for example.
You can order the xProDock for Galaxy S4 on Amazon in the US and Europe. Just type in "xProDock" on eBay and we should have it listed there too in most countries.
Feel free to ask questions or use this thread to discuss any product in the category... We'll comment if warranted. Thanks!

The Infuse Dock can't be used with the Galaxy S4 no matter what. This has to do with the fact that Samsung has changed the pin-out configuration when moving to the "new platform" so there's no technical way (to the best of our knowledge) to get it to charge or to start the car-mode. Not sure if this helps?

Oh it helps alright, between this and your comment on the other thread, I'm going to have to give up on the Infuse dock.... it worked great for the Skyrocket and SIII for me, and I should be glad that I had it for those two phones, but now it's time to move on and go with yours - thanks again for your help with this!
I'll be the first to say that this universal dock has convinced someone who has never even considered a universal dock, this is definitely the one to buy if you need a mount for the S4 while driving.... and who doesn't? Samsung realy dropped the ball on this - all these great features to "make life better with your life companion," and they rip out the ability to dock the damn phone on their own dock? This and the TecTiles? Come on, makes me go crazy over here, but I digress - thanks Mikael, much appreciated, great work!
Placing my order right now!!! But wait til you see how I'm mounting it, going to make it mine if it kills me, haha
EDIT - Amazon order number ends in 0420217, can't wait to get this dock installed, thanks again

Will this work with the s-view cover on and folded back?
Swype'd at pace from my Galaxy S2
Very interesting indeed...
I have a question.. There is a long cable that is attached to the dock and end with the car-charger right? So is that a standard USB port so I can use my own charger or does it come with a car charger itself?
Now the issue with many standard USB car chargers is that they don't charge the phone fast enough. With the GPS on, it actually drains the battery slowly. I am going to get an official Samsung car charger soon.. but will I be able to use with with the xProDock?

Yes, the video they have shows a standard flip cover on the SIII working just fine with it, and other cases all the way up to an Otterbox on a damn Note II will work in this thing!

It does not come with a charging solution, they leave that part up to you, thankfully.... If it were attached to a cheap 1A cigarette lighter adapter, I wouldn't want anything to do with it, but since I can connect this to my 2.1A adapter I already bought and used for months on my SIII, I'm certainly happy with that!
My xProDock is out for delivery, pics coming soon......!

How is the USB connector? Can you get the S4 in and out of the dock and connect the USB with one hand easily?
The USB cord is very stable. It is flexible, but not loose. Similar to the feeling of a goose neck stand. It will stay in the bent shape and position you leave it in. The mount is extremely easy to use, and works with any case. The GS4 goes right into dock mode as soon as it sees the usb plug even if its not connected to power. The cord has a built in plug for the audio as well. The cord has the appearance of being permanently part of the mount, but there is a cover on the back that hides the removable plug. The windshield mount is first rate and did not budge until released.
On a related note....while plugged in, I saw NO battery drain as I had on the Infuse while using map apps, Escort Live radar app, or anything else. The unit continued to charge during all of the above. This in itself is a huge improvement over the previous phone/power combos. I would always have horrible drain even when plugged in when using power hungry apps with BT, GPS, etc...

That has more to do with the charging adapter you're using than the cable itself - what adapter are you using, a 2A or a 1A?

Haha, very time consuming, but it's always worth it when recommending a good product and to give some insight that others may not know
Thanks!
Just wanted to post a helpful tip to anyone using this dock and wants to keep the screen on ONLY when docked, not all the time like the phone settings menu allows you to set "while charging." Always on while charging means that if my screen comes on for any reason while propped up on my desktop charger in the middle of the night, it's on the whole night! This just helps to utilize both Dock Mode that iBolt has figured out how to incorporate into their xProDock and the original Android Car Mode that we probably all know and love from the days of the Infuse 4G car dock!
Here's the link to the steps I used to get this working - it's a little hectic, but should only take about 2 to 5 minutes to set up, depending on what apps you may or may not have already installed
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41206483&postcount=11

Is it the xProDock? They developed this new dock for Samsung specifically to address the issue that all the old ways wouldn't work on the S4. Their product page shows old docks and new docks with the old "In Vehicle Charging Dock" as separate products to identify this. It's an issue with Samsung changing things around and not something iBolt did in order to make you buy a new dock.... hell, Samsung even axed compatibility with their previous dock, making buying the xProDock the ONLY solution available to charge and send the vehicle into dock mode! I fought to get the Infuse 4G dock to work with the S4, but Samsung tinkered around with stuff so much, they caused me to have to buy the xProDock too....

[Q] Heart rate monitor S-health

Anyone know where can I buy heart rate monitor compatible with s-health in sgs4?
There's supposed to be a Samsung brand HRM and fitness band coming any day now. Oh, and a scale, too.
I find it a bit annoying that samsung didn't go with Ant+, the universal standard for HRM. I have two HRM bands for cycling and was hoping they would work but nope.
The Polar Bluetooth Smart should work shouldn't it?

Although it sucks they didn't, Ant+ is not the universal standard. It is being pushed to become one. But right now only Sony phones support it.
Personally I want bluetooth LE fixed.
And where the hell is this HRM? It was supposed to be out last month.

That's not actually true .
Some Android phones have ANT+ built in. If you have a phone that its built in then you should be able to get your phone to sync to the HRM. If you don't have a built in ANT+ You can get ANT+ to work on Android. You need to download the ANT+ service from the Play App Store.
The only draw back if you don't have built in ANT+, is you will need to buy the ANT+ dongle (and a OTG cable if you don't have one).

Theres 1 motorola android phone
1 HTC
the rest are all SONY.
Using a large usb adpater is not a valid option for me, i would rather stick to bluetooth as its not bulky. When ANT+ is built into every phone like bluetooth is(still peeved about googles handling of Bluetooth 4.0 LE tho) , or its made small enough to fit inside my battery door(like Qi adapters) Then I'll consider it, but as it stands it still has a good 3-5 years of work before it can be crowned the "standard"

Question is still valid from the OP... when is the Samsung HRM going to be released?

I do wish Polar would port their iOS app over to Android. Sigh.

[Q] Note 4 HDMI In Input for Note 4/Oculus Support

Curious here. Does the Note 4 or any smartphone for that matter have an HDMI In option? In terms of plugging a blu ray player into the device to watch blu rays. Seeing if anyone knows the hardware capabilities of USB connectors on smartphones. Checked out the Note 4 with the Oculus and it looks nice. Would be nice to chill and watch movies in a nice dark environment it offers.
did you say you want to plug a bluray player into your note 4? why? watch the 1080p goodness on your tv at home... "buy" some digital copies for your phone
My thoughts are like yours. Pick up a slingbox and just open a browser on your glasses and you are set. If you are gaming there will be some lag time but if you step up to the $300 setup it's all hdmi 1080p

From a gear VR perspective, having HDMI in would be awesome. I can't possibly imagine wirelessly streaming a fast action game to the phone.
Wondering the same thing
Just finished up a DIY VR for my Note 4 and was wondering the same thing. If I could get an HDMI in from the PS4 + a player that can split the image into two on my screen I think I might be in heaven lol. I've been using it for mostly digital copies of videos, and it's pretty awesome. Hope someone comes through with an answer or a solution!
Thanks to all in advance.

No. If you want to watch a Blu Ray, create an MKV or image, and use a player, such as BS Player, VLC, etc, and watch the file that way.
On side note, it makes no sense what you're asking other than just for the challenge of tinkering. You're either going to be home, so you can watch the blu ray on your blu ray player connected to your big tv or you're out and about, and thus are you really going to be bring a blu ray player with you? And there's no way, the phone is going to be able to power a portable usb blu ray drive; probably a DVD too. And I don't think you'll be able to get blu ray drive to work with a USB OTG cable even if you could managed to give the drive enough power to work because it'll probably need additional drivers that haven't been created. Plus, I don't think the microUSB port will have enough throughput.

I've been looking for video-in on a mobile for some time now. Small high-res. screens are not cheap, and with old phones lying around...
I'm thinking more of FPV than blu-ray. It would be ideal to use my note 4 for a live video feed, and note 2 for telemetry. The less I have to carry around the better.
Has anyone got an answer for this post? I want to do the same.
I want to be able to plug it into my ps3.
Is it possible?
The Note 4 supports HDMI out via MHL, however not input.
Additionally, the Note 4 docks into the Gear VR via the microUSB port, acting as an input device via USB OTG. Unlike previous devices that could use USB and MHL at the same time and use accessories like this smart dock, the Note 4 can only do one or the other. My best guess is this has something to do with the Fast Charge controller and USB OTG and MHL not working at the same time, due to simultaneous power in/out.
Oddly enough, the S6 version of the Gear VR has a microUSB port on the bottom for charging, leading me to believe that Samsung found a solution. If I had to guess, it charges the "old" way while an accessory is plugged in, rather than using fast charging at the same time. Makes sense, honestly, since it would also reduce head, something that would impede performance in VR.
tl;dr: Note 4 only supports video IN, not out, plus the Gear VR uses the microUSB port.
Regarding the S6, however: I have access to an S6 and matching VR at work. I'll try it out and see if my guess is right.
I want to be able to plug it into my ps3.
I don't think the Note 4 or any other smartphone has the required video capture circuitry, unfortunately. You'll just have to settle for USB or wireless video streaming if a Rift stand-in is what you're looking for.
I've already been experimenting a bit with Trinus VR in the meantime, but I don't consider it really satisfactory as a Rift substitute. Guess I'm waiting for the CV1 next year.

I think the missing microUSB passthrough on the Note 4 Gear VR is just a design oversight with the Gear VR enclosure, one that could be corrected if someone were willing to break out a soldering iron and a cutting tool. I'd experiment with it myself, but I don't feel like doing irreversible mods to my Gear VR right now.
I doubt it's a USB OTG + MHL issue, considering that Samsung uses an 11-pin microUSB port precisely to get around that limitation that typical 5-pin MHL smartphones have. Look carefully toward the rear of the port, you'll see the extra pins dedicated to MHL.
I can't say I've tested one of those smart docks yet, though. I like the sound of them in theory, but the software still needs to adapt to a desktop experience on-the-fly, and Android just isn't built with that in mind right now.
Pi 2 hdmi screen?
Also interested in this but for use with a raspberry pi 2 model b with full hdmi. The crappy tft hats that are available don't give anywhere close to the resolution. Would be nice to work on code and other stuff while on the go.
I have a note 4 & a old note 2 so if this is possible with either please reply. Also I'm not opposed to taking the note 2 or an old Droid x apart to separate the screen and stock phone mobo if the screens can be connected with ribbon directly to the Pi 2
