Hi,
I've recently got a WP7 and now I am facing some minor problems. I have all my contacts backed up as vCards (.vcf), now I would like to import them to my Omnia 7, but as far as I got with google is, that I can only do it using some cloud **** (like live.com, or google), what I'm not willing to do. Is there any other way getting my contacts on my phone? I'm running Mango and my phone is unlocked btw.
Regards,

Copy them to your SIM or use Exchange

So there are only those two ways? SIM is not an option, and setting up my own Exchange server just to copy my contacts... :/
But thanks anyway.
Well the Options are to sync them via Windows Live with your main Windows Live ID, via Google or Exchange. If you Import them from your SIM or manually add them you still need to put them into one of these accounts
How to transfer contacts from my Windows Live a/c to Android acc (gmail). I am purchasing an Android phone and selling off this Lumia 710. Or should I sync my Hotmail a/c in my Android phone. Will that do the job ?

Not sure you can add a Hotmail/Live account on an Android to sync it with the phone book.
It's easier just to import your hotmail contacts on your gmail account and start from there

How to import. Kindly help.
I think you actually can sync Hotmail / Windows Live to Android, but I haven't checked. In any case, there are a few ways to do the export/import; one of them is to sign into Hotmail and then find the option to export your contact list to a file. Then, sign into Gmail and find the equivalent option to import the file into your contacts. Any search engine, or the help pages for either site, can tell you how to do this.

He sounds kinda lazy,
anyway I think it is much easier to import everything straight from gmail:
https://mail.google.com/mail/?shva=1#settings/accounts
In my opinion, Android UI is a mess, at least till Gingerbread v. 2.3, which is the most common distribution. Especially for what concern the phone book, you can add Facebook, Whatsapp, Skype, Viber etc accounts (can't find Hotmail account), and link them together (if it works!)
Hotmail contacts got Sync. Thank god. Heaving a sigh of relief. Thanks anyways guys ...

Install Outlook. com app and while entering your ID, make sure you check Sync Contacts option.

I used Phone Transfer downloaded from Recovery-Android.com to transfer contacts and messages from WinPhone to Android. All the content can be successfully transferred. Good transfer tool recommended.

That's a rip-off, the original one is on TransferPhone.com
You can use either Gmail or Outlook app to sync contacts between Android and Windows phone.
Hi guys,
I assumed that with all Android devices nowadays, any contact I add will be by default saved to Google Contacts.
just browsed my Google Contacts online and found that almost all of my recent phonebook additions are missing from Goog Contacts.
Isn't there a way to have them saved and synced forever??
Thanks,
TD

Having the same problem
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda app-developers app
Go under system setting then account and touch google account and turn sync on. If your under T-Mobile they have their own account sync
After confirming you have Google account and synced, check in PEOPLE app that the contacts are actually saved as "Google" accounts.
If not, you can always go to people->menu->manage contacts->copy contacts->from phone->to Google.
Hi guys,
Thanks for the replies.
I think the issue was that by default, the contacts were saving as "Outlook" contacts, hence why they weren't appearing in my G Contacts.
Not sure why the default is set to Outlook - is there a way to change this?
Also, it appears there is no way to migrate contacts added and synced to Outlook to G Contacts.. Anyone know?
Cheers,
TD

No need for Outlook extract:
Get into people on your phone, choose in the menu: manage contacts, copy contacts, choose the source account (Outlook in your situation) and then the destination (Gmail) and Done.
