Hi All.
I'm having a problem with what appears to be Recovery mode in Revolutionary.
The Desire S has been rooted and S-Off. I then flashed Android Revolution 7(Mike1986).
As I'm about to sell the phone, wanted to do a factory reset, but this restarts the phone and gets stuck on the HTC logo. So I figured I'd manually flash a new ROM instead. So I go into bootloader, but when I get to the menu and select Recovery, again, it gets stuck at an HTC logo.

You need to flash an eng-hboot first before you can flash an RUU to go back to stock.
All details in my signature and the index thread.
Read the forum and index thread before doing anything
Oh, OK - I'm not that bothered about putting it back to stock firmware. I just wondered why Revolutionary doesn't seem to be working.
Presumably I just need to put PG88IMG.zip into the root of the SD card?

By the way did you install any recovery like cwm or 4ext?
Sent by my fingers to your head.
Um.....I'm fairly sure it was CWM, but don't hold me to that. Whatever it was, it allowed me to install Android Revolution 7.
I can't update HBOOT - Revolutionary keeps bypassing it?????

Android Revolution 7??? On the Desire S...? Where'd you get that from? It's not officially supported by the ARHD team!!
Now I'm absolutely confused where the hell I got that from!!!
I think the best course of action is to get the phone back into shape - so I need to flash the HBOOT back and presumably the recovery back if possible. Revolutionary is preventing me from flashing a new Hboot. Any ideas?
EDIT : Right. Using ADB, I've managed to re-flash CWM and now it works. But can someone advise on getting HBoot to flash?
Loll fire the dd command to flash hboot.
It is fine from adb.
See in the thread of my signature for the dd commands

Just wanted to thanks everyone for their replies. At the moment I'm using a custom rom, with CWM still installed. I haven't sold it on yet, as the Sensation XE I bought to replace it, died within 24 hours! D'oh!!!

Swyped from my Desire S waiting for Kernel 3, WAKE UP HTC
Hi all,
I hope one of you masterminds is able to help me out.
I tried to root my sensation without s-off with hecdev.com (using One_X_All-In-One_Kit_v1.0) and then tried to install cm9 from one the links here via revcovery with CWM 5.8.0.9.
But then I was stuck with the loading animation...
I cannot run Android now, so I cannot flash a stock RUU.
I can enter bootloader, which seems to be unlocked, here's the info:

I was on the latest official ROM (ICS, via OTA) before trying that.
I have not succeeded in flashing a ROM anymore.
Do I need to get S-Off first?
Or is HBOOT to new? Do I have to revert? How?
I tried older HBOOT, but it wouldn'T do anything after PArsing
Please help, any hint is appreciated =/
PS: I would be more than happy to have a stock rom again...as mentioned, cannot use a ruu.exe file, as it seems fastboot usb ist not recognizable by ruu.exe
Edit: After the 4th or 5th try, RUU recognized the phone when in fastboot usb mode, but update fdailed, cwm saif "security fail" ... sigh, seems I really blew it this time

Hi,
Start again using THIS GUIDE
Flash the boot.img from your ROM through fastboot.
Extra step 1 from this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25587345
Be sure to use the boot.img from your ROM.
Then make a clean install of the ROM again.
Also, read that thread for the sake of understanding what you're doing.
There is NO need yet to flash an RUU.
Latest OTA comes with hboot 1.29 which is locked.
You might not be in the latest one, perhaps start with an RUU with.the latest fw (3.33).

thanks malybru & kgs1992 - tried that, and the 4ext touch recoery said both superwipe and the rom installed correctly.
but when rebooting the white screen with the green htc logo appears right away and nothing more happens...any idea? I may have messed up the kernel before, but when asked by ext4 recovery whether to flash a kernel, tried both custom and stock, none changed the problem with booting up
@Raven2k: Manually installing boot.img with fastbok seemed to help, at least I come over the white screen, am stuck with the beatsaudio logo right now - thanks so far =)

So you can just try to reflash the ROM. ^_^

I did reflash the ROM three times but wi-fi do not works :/
What I did is:
1- Flash the rom
2- Flash the gaps
I tried also:
1- Flash the boot image (was inside the zip of the rom)
2- Flash the rom
3- Flash the gaps
But nothing ://
First of all sorry for late answer. The steps since you are s-on are:
1)Flash the Rom
2)Flash gapps package
3)Flash the boot . img from Rom via fastboot.
If you wanna try different kernel search the dev section for Kylons cm kernel

Same issue here... I was trying to flash: [ROM][08 AUG 13][4.2.2][UNOFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 10.1 (the 8-8-2013 build)
I wiped "data/factory-reset" + "cache" + "dalvik" and flashed the rom. Then I also flashed the boot.img using fastboot.
This all, while my phone was:

ROM booted very well, and everything seemed fine... Except for the Wifi, it did not work. It was able to see my network, but when I wanted to connect, there was something going wrong during verification and the connection was aborted somehow... Also connection to provider internet (G, 3G, H) was not working...
So I figured it might be my "original" radio shizzle... So after some very exciting moments of clicking dead links half way some guides , I managed to have my radio updated and also used revolutionary to get the S-OFF stuff... also updated my hboot somewhere in this process...
So now I have my phone like this:

Since I liked the 4ext recovery, I flashed that first. (Even though Revolutionary also flashed a recovery (Clockworkmod??))...
But after I wiped cache ("data/factory-reset" + "cache" + "dalvik") and flashed the ROM the wifi still didn't work. I didn't flash the boot.img since it was booting fine... After first boot, I also went back to the recovery and flashed the gapps. But after reboot, still wifi was not working...
Now I understood that for a "RELOCKED" device flashing the boot via fastboot is not working, since you're relocked... But I don't know if that's true, and I did not try it yet...
Now I'm back at the ROM I had before ([ROM][23 OCT 12] Ice Cream Saga FINAL [4.0.4][Sense 3.6]), which works fine except it gives me 100% CPU load now and then... which drains my battery and makes the phone so slow I feel the need to throw it very hard into a wall... :silly:
To flash this ROM, I wiped cache ("data/factory-reset" + "cache" + "dalvik") and flashed the ROM. I did not flash boot.img via fastboot. And to my surprise it booted right away too...
Does anyone know what to do to fix the wifi?
Please give me a hint on where I went wrong...
Thanks!!

Can you try with Format everything except SD card and then flash the ROM? I've read that sometimes you can try to format twice in a row. If you are S-OFF you don't need to flash the boot with fastboot command.

Thanks guys, for your replies.
I did the "format except SD card" a few times and flashed the rom and the gapps (without booting in between) and rebooted.
Still no G/3G/H and no Wifi.
GSM was working though, I could ring my phone......
Then I tried to flash this kernel: [ROM][07 JUL][4.2.2][OFFICIAL] PAC-man v23.0.0 - The AIO Rom | Built From Source !
And guess what.... No Wifi again...
Also tried this one: [ROM][16-08-13][Flinny] Andromadus - CM10.1 - Saga [25b3]
All no working Wifi... The "verification" goes wrong and does not succeed... So then I tried to get the Wifi working by selecting static IP address..... and guess what?! It worked!!!!! For a minute or so.... I was able to connect to my google account and downloaded half an update of one of the apps... but then it stopped and I couldn't get it working again... All this time the provider internet (G/3G/H) was not working.
So I flashed [ROM][23 OCT 12] Ice Cream Saga FINAL [4.0.4][Sense 3.6]) again... And Wifi was fine... provider internet (G/3G/H) is fine too....
So anyone have a clue?? I definitely don't.
What could cause the CM10 ROMs are not working, while the CM9 ROMs are? What could be the cause?
Next attempt is to flash "Kylon's kernel". We'll see... :fingers-crossed:
Its working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I did...
But first I tried this one: [ROM][22 AUG] SagaSation Rom v2.0 | JB | 4.2.2 | Official |.... again no Wifi!
So then I flashed this one again: [ROM][08 AUG 13][4.2.2][UNOFFICIAL] CyanogenMod 10.1 and right away (no reboot in recovery) flashed Kylon's kernel: [KERNEL]AndromadusMod [CM10.1][27/07/2013] and after that I flashed Gapps.
And guess what..... No Wifi....
Suddenly I noticed how the provider internet was working.... which was a new feature for CyanogenMod 10.1 roms on my phone!!!
So I checked Wifi settings again and saw how I got a "Authentication failure"... also different.... Searched google for it and found that this was a known failure for android phones... solved by changing the settings of the router... changed router from WPA/WPA2 mixed blablabla to WPA2-Personal and BAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM wifi was working fine............
I don't know what happened or what I did to fix it.... but it's working!! :victory:
Thanks for the support!!!!
Thanks man u saved me!!!!!!!!!!
Thank u very much Mr. Fabulous!!
I did followed your steps and BAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM all working fine!!!!!
Hi guys
I've looked everywhere for a solution. Maybe someone know another post that I might've missed.
My phone won't start, it keeps rebooting to the white HTC screen.
Right, now to the problem. Before this problem I had a custom ROM installed (Carbon 4.3) which was getting a few errors so I decided to restore it with clockworkmod from a previous backup. Now what this did is turned the device to ****Locked**** and S-ON .
So what I did next is use HTCDEV to unlock it. Well that bit worked but it's still S-ON.
Now it shows

I can still go in to Recovery and use the 4EXT recovery Touch (v1.0.0.4 RC3) and i managed to wipe everything including the SD as I already backed it up. After I installed a custom ROM (Blitz 4.0). Everything went well, finished installing successfully. After a reboot the phone won't start to the OS. It keeps looping to the White HTC screen (without even vibrating every time it reboots). So I can install any ROM but can't boot into it.
I even re-partitioned my SD thinking that the mSD was the issue but no luck.
Any particular advice how can I fix this?
Many thanks!

I've tried the first method (but no luck)
Although second one worked like a charm! :good: Thanks for that. Now my next question is: If I want to install another ROM will it make the same problem? If yes then how do I get the from S-ON to S-OFF? Will the Revolutionary Utility help ,me or mess it up?

just to know enable smartflash exactly before flashing the rom
and yes you will have to do the same if smartflash fail again
if you want to S-OFF you have to flash stock rom first

Hi,

Until today I was on ViperSaga 2.1.1.
This morning, without my knowing exactly what happened, the virtual keyboard is switched on arabic and plant each use "arabic keyboard stopped".
I backed up my config and decided to upgrade to 2.2.0 ViperSaga.
I downloaded the zip, I put it on the sdcard, reboot in recovery (4ext), full wipe and wipe Cache + davlik, I begin to install the zip and it gets stuck on the boot screen of ViperSaga.
Half hour later, as I was not full of patience, I turn the battery, I turn the sdcard, I copy the zip from another ROM (SVHD) telling me I do not know what probably it would work, I launch this new install from the recovery ...
Nope. Is blocked for half an hour!

S-Off, root, hboot 2.00.2002 (PG8810000) LOCKED, radio 3831.19.00.110
What do you mean LOCKED? S-OFF bootloader locked?
Recovery work? You got white screen after rebooting or during installation?
What kind of display you have? READ THIS AND CHECK YOUR PHONE.
Try other kind of ROM like CM.

Hi,
I've got the white screen after the installation and the reboot.
Locked is here :
LOCKED
SAGA PVT ENG S-OFF RL
HBOOT-2.00.2002 (PG8810000)
RADIO-3831.19.00.110
eMMC-boot

I restored my system with the recovery Vipersaga 2.1.1. The keyboard still does not work. It is difficult to write a single line of code. However, my screen is a sony (s6d16a0x21 wvga).
I will try to update with this ROM (CM10.2).
It's nice to agree that we must copy both zip on SDcard, go to the recovery:
wipe data / factory reset
wipe cover + davlik
before starting the installation of the ROM?
Thanks

Maybe keyboard on Vipersaga 2.1.1 is faulty.
When I change rom, first backup nandroid then wipe all except SD then install from zip rom then gapps. That 10.2 works great on my saga.Try CM 11 too. GL
Strange you have LOCKED S-OFF...

Rather than simply sending PMs to members (which is not the best way to impress people), how about searching and reading. There are solutions, but you need to read so you understand what you are doing it, and why - or you will end up with a paperweight instead of a phone.
