Hey guys,
I really loved MIUI on my previous phone, and wondered if it is possible to develop a MIUI ROM for the Nexus 5, based on the stock 4.4 ROM? I have no experience in porting or developing a ROM, so I have no idea. Do we have to wait for Xiaomi to use 4.4?
On the nexus 4 we had to wait for miui to update to 4.2 before the porting started so it will probably be the same here

Why don`t you buy a Mi2S or Mi3?, these are the ultimate MIUI phones to have.

I know these are the ultimate MIUI phones, but I just love the design of the Nexus 5, and I don't want to go through the process of buying it in China again. I ordered my previous few phones in China to, but you never know what the final cost is, taxes are very random in the Netherlands. Also, if I buy a phone in Holland I get a 2 year warranty, and from China mostly only one year, and I don't have to send it back to China if it breaks.

Way to resurrect an old post with nothing new.
As I have previously stated we won't be getting miui until it is released for a phone that runs KitKat.
Now if you had looked into this you would see that should be happening next month.

Because we need the drivers to support the older version. Unlike the Nexus 4 we've never had an older version of Android (for example Jellybean). We only have Kit Kat drivers.

There is a chaos build for the nexus 5 but it is a buggy and slow nightly.
P.S. like you said MIUI is not just a themed ROM but has quite a few features that are not in stock android.

You can use a theme from the play store on a ROM like cyanogen mod to get a similar setup but I don't think there are any sense Roms. There's an lg g2 launcher and xperia ultra launcher that you can use as well.
Also don't be surprised if u see a bunch of troll posts saying to buy an HTC or Samsung if you don't like stock vanilla

Give Nova Launcher a shot. You can theme the hell out of the UI with it. Go check out the Nova Launcher community on G+. You can make it look as you like ... yes... even a bit Sense like.

I sold my gpe HTC one with stock vanilla for my N5. not a fan of sense myself and not sure if this helps but check the HTC gpe forums. They had ported camera and other aspects of Rosie to stock roms. Might be worth a shot. Pretty sure beats is out of the question though and IMO overated.

ok is there any way to port only some of the features of the ROMs? Eg: The multi-window or status-bar/notifications of touchwiz or the blinkfeed of HTC?
I know the camera app of sony has been made available to all "sony" devices but has anyone given it a try on the N5?

I found the issue was the navigation bar. It has to be at stock 100% in order to use it. I'm used to running it at 70% so i reset it to stock and it installed fine and applied the theme fine.

as stated, revert everything to stock, DPI, navigation bar, disable pie or whatever similar as LMT, then install themer, set as you like then switch back to custom DPI, navbar size and PIE/LMT or halo, worked for me and for FuMMoD too...
I don't own the skyrocket but my mom does. She is having some issues with the ROM I flashed long ago so I figure now is a good time to upgrade. What do you suggest for stability and battery life? I don't care which version of android or cutting edge features but I do care about everything working all the time as I live several hours from her and just can't fix things for her at any time.
Let me know what you recommend and why. The more detail the merrier. Thanks!

I believe what he's meaning is since you can't up and drive down the street to fix her device, you should stay as close to bone stock as possible. I keep my mom rooted with custom recovery only so I can back up the device data in case of hardware/software failure. But she is bone stock at&t 4.1.2, which was a huge leap of change from 2.3 for her. She is 16 hr drive from me.
My wife has this phone and I've found the easiest to transition into android has been MIUI ROM for her. Everything is pretty stable and has the general functionality needed.
Not the latest and greatest since it's on 4.1.2, but works well.

Good going. Like to see new devs. Do you have permission from the original devs? That would be the place to start.
Should I ask in the Pacman boards for permission? I wasn't quite sure how to go about that. When I saw PAC wasn't available for the Nexus I kind of lost my mind and had it built the next day lol

No, you cannot release any builds until nightlies start. There was a message at the end of the build that says the same thing. Nightlies should start soon though, so you can release your builds after that. All builds right now are for private use only.
Or perhaps upload your work for the pac team and ask them to be the official builder for the nexus 5 version?
