Camera HDR Mode - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is the camera HDR+ mode set as a default or do I have to turn it on.

Turn it on. Pull up the options that show up in the circular ring and HDR+ will be on the left most of the ring where HDR usually is

You have to turn it on. It stays on until you turn it off. Fyi, you can't zoom in using hdr mode

[App] Power Switch - turn off your screen by shutting the case!

Hi guys, Im the dev of an app that will allow you to send your Tab to sleep when you shut its case. The PR is after the break.
Now that we have three high end tablets with proximity sensors (Note, 7+ and 7.7) its time we did some testing to see what sensitivities we should set in the app by default.
Please help us out with this. Simply download the free app, mess around with proximity settings until they work and report back what lever (in %) you needed.
Note that the current auto-selection prompt will only enable the light sensor if you pick "Tablet" in the first run dialog. You will need to turn the proximity detection on manually in the app's settings, as your tablets actually have this sensor!
Thanks in advance, and i hope you like the app
--------------------------------
Power Switch:
Power Switch is a tool for devices with cases - somewhat like the SmartCover, it will turn off the screen when you shut the case. If you have a device with poor
battery life, Power Switch can save tons of juice by switching it off entirely after a given amount of time asleep.
The app works best on phones using the proximity sensor. On tablets, the light sensor is the most efficient method of knowing that the case has been closed.
Features:
- Sleep seconds after shutting case
- Automatic shutdown (rooted devices only)
- Set up a schedule using Night Mode
- Configure sensor sensitivity
- Facedown to turn screen off
- Persistent notification
- Plays sound to let you know that the screen has turned off
The app has gone through an extensive testing process here at XDA under another name. Thanks to everyone who helped make it happen, you're the best!
Remember to adjust the light sensor sensitivity settings in a light environment for best performance, and use Night Mode if you are on a tablet with a poor ambient light sensor.
If you have any comments or suggestions, please use this thread or the in-app feedback tool. Please be aware that we ignore logs without descriptions.

The Lite version of the app is exactly the same as the Pro, only the timers are restricted to a minimum of twelve seconds.
Screens:
I'll definitely try this when I get my tablet back from Samsung in the next couple days! Thanks!
Please do, let me know.

I used this app for about a week. Seemed to work fine i forgot it was there. I wiped my tablet and did not reinstall the program. I did find that the thresholds had to be adjusted with my case tablet combination.
Right, but what were they? Stick to the topic please.

I reinstalled the app, to get it to work and not be intrusive I have the light sensor set at 13% and the prox set at 33%. It takes about 20 seconds to turn off the screen after I close the case.

In the lite version, the minimum time is 12 seconds...
Hate to point this out...
It's been done before, and for free....
Here.
Please don't do that, its not cool. Added to ignore list.

MOD EDIT: There is no reason to name call when someone is trying to be helpful.
Providing users with a free alternative is most certainly cool.
It's up to you, as a developer, to give the users a reason to purchase YOUR application with features which the other developers don't offer.
Adding people to your ignore list is obtuse, it shows you're not open to fair competition and gives the users another reason NOT to go for your paid apps.

Are you saying you need both sensors?
It doesnt work on my galaxy tab 7.7 when I close the lid of my samsung book cover. I have tried on proximity sensor, proximity + light sensor, both failed
Considering that there are no real custom roms for the 7.7 and it works perfectly my my own tab, you should be trying different sensitivity settings.
Its working perfectly here! Thank for this awesome app!
Anything other than praise to report
Any issues to report?
Nope, still works well
Anything to report?

camera brightness bug

Don't know if this had been mentioned. I searched for it and could not find anything. I use my phone on the lowest brightness setting at all times. When I use the camera the brightness turns to full and stays on maximum brightness even after the camera is turned off.
You try turning the screen off and on again? That usually fixes the problem for me.

[Q] LED flash higher brightness hack?

Tonight I noticed that the flash during picture taking is noticeably brighter than the LED during autofocus/preview and any flashlight apps. If you don't believe me try it in a dark room, preferably your parents basement. Has anyone found a way to use flash brightness mode as a regular flashlight? I feel like I've tried every app out there and they are all the same brightness as Torch, and the Torch high brightness mode does NOTHING. I searched the forums as best as I could and my drunk ass can't find anything. It really bothers me!!!
If the camera app in Cyanogenmod can use some super turbo ultra high brightness mode during picture taking isn't it possible in any other app? I had a similar situation with my HTC Inspire HD but Torch came through and let me use both LED's at once.

[Request] LED function in stamina mode

Stamina mode is great but I'm not a big fan of how it changes the LED behavior on the z1 - the intervals between flashes are longer, and the led illuminates quickly and with less brightness than in normal mode. It would be nice to be able to utilize stamina mode but keep the normal LED functionality, I wonder if this could be added as an option with a mod (maybe through xposed). I really prefer not to use 3rd party apps like lightflow.
+1 :good:
I was thinking of asking thw similar questions too. Yeap, i Guess its the only drawback for stamina mode. Hope someone can fix it. Cheers
I think that we have to change some build.prop values.
The answer is at Xperia T forum.
I 'll take a look and report back.

I tried this app on my Z1, but doesn't work.
de mon Z1 via Tapatalk
Apps like lightflow or light manager do not work in stamina mode, once the screen is off the stamina mode led behavior overrides the settings from the app.
just add this app to exception

That does not work.
strange..for me works fine...
but I use monx rom
this app => https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ledblinker works with stamina mod. Don't forget to put it on exception in stamina parameters.
edit : Sorry for this wrong information. first time ledblinker works and not the second test
i think all of the 3rd party led apps work the same way in stamina mode - they work with the screen on or for a short time with the screen off, then the stamina mode behavior takes over. Exception list does not seem to make any difference.
I haven't noticed any difference to be quite honest. The light seems to work the same with or without stamina.

[Q] Auto brightness

What am i missing regarding screen auto brightness? I keep having to manually change brightness when going from light to dark places even though i have "adapt to lighting conditions" ticked?
It feels like im wasting battery having the screen so bright at night unless i turn it down, then I have to turn it up again in the morning.. Some secret setting?

Same here, Someone said that the screen does dim but it does so slowly so you barely notice it! Hoever iam not convinced! Iam almost certain mine is not adjusting at all
For normal day light conditions i feel the auto brightness adjusts very well. Its definitely better than the s4 i had. I have the auto brightness selected and the bar at 50%. I agree for night time reading i have to manually adjust the brightness may be its not as quick to adjust in very low light conditions compared to day light
I was using CM11 on the S4 which had very good brightness control, not sure about standard. I agree during the day I don't have problems at all, and the screen is very good. It's just when I'm somewhere with low brightness and I have to turn it down, and then when I go back into day I have to turn it back up again. Pretty annoying having to change it all the time.
I will get an app to do it for me for now, but this must be some sort of bug this action couldn't be on purpose.

I find the auto brightness not very good.
Sometimes when the lighting condition does not change, it will start to increase/decrease the brightness to the level which does not suit the lighting condition.
It also have the tendency to favor lower brightness.
Thinking of trying out Lux Auto Brightness instead.

I don't know if you mean to test the sensor, but the sensor works absolutely fine (with other apps)
My auto brightness works just fine and i have mine on lowest possible setting.
