[Request] LED function in stamina mode - Xperia Z1 Themes and Apps

Stamina mode is great but I'm not a big fan of how it changes the LED behavior on the z1 - the intervals between flashes are longer, and the led illuminates quickly and with less brightness than in normal mode. It would be nice to be able to utilize stamina mode but keep the normal LED functionality, I wonder if this could be added as an option with a mod (maybe through xposed). I really prefer not to use 3rd party apps like lightflow.

+1 :good:

I was thinking of asking thw similar questions too. Yeap, i Guess its the only drawback for stamina mode. Hope someone can fix it. Cheers

I think that we have to change some build.prop values.
The answer is at Xperia T forum.
I 'll take a look and report back.

I tried this app on my Z1, but doesn't work.

Apps like lightflow or light manager do not work in stamina mode, once the screen is off the stamina mode led behavior overrides the settings from the app.

just add this app to exception

That does not work.

strange..for me works fine...
but I use monx rom

this app => https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ledblinker works with stamina mod. Don't forget to put it on exception in stamina parameters.
edit : Sorry for this wrong information. first time ledblinker works and not the second test

i think all of the 3rd party led apps work the same way in stamina mode - they work with the screen on or for a short time with the screen off, then the stamina mode behavior takes over. Exception list does not seem to make any difference.

I haven't noticed any difference to be quite honest. The light seems to work the same with or without stamina.

app suggestion .. using back and menu buttons as noticication LED

coming from htc legend and xperia mini, the led notification lights was an important feature, now i really miss it in the note, and using noled app is not the same as having actual led lights.
so i was thinking if there is a possibility to use the menu and back buttons lights as notification light ? i found that they are separate from the screen light .. so can this be done by an app or a custom rom or it can't be done ?
This idea has already been implemented for many Samsung devices. Just find a custom kernel with "BLN" Support (BackLightNotification) and then download the app (info HERE) and away you go.
Hope that helps mate

check bLED
after i posted this i found out about bLED and bln kernel (i didn't know what bln means) thanks for your help
There is also noLED. Not one i use but you might aswell know all the options
I've read that they all hurt battery life
i tried noLED but i didn't like it
i know that bln might drain the battery faster but it's important for me, and maybe with further development some of the current problems might be fixed
NoLed is good, doesn't require root and only uses about 3% battery when enabled (and nothing if you switch it off). You can also customize the settings for additional power saving and I managed to get it down to 1% by setting the notification to flash on and off.
My only issue with NoLed is that from time to time it gives me the sleep of death. Disable it And my issues go away - haven't had time to test whether or not SoD is down to the power saving settings.

Clock delay

Anyone else is having this problem too?
After being a long time in idle, when I turn my XL on, the clock is delayed to the last time it was before turning it off, and it takes like 4 or 5 seconds to update, or sometimes it doesn't do it until I rotate the phone in landscape mode. This is really annoying because is affecting the alarm too. I don't know if Stamina mode is doing something with this (I have it activated all the time), but I need to fix it. I put the clock app in the white list on Stamina with no results.
Currently using Android 4.2.2, but this happened in 4.1.2 too.
Yes, everyone is having this problem, this is caused by the stamina mode indeed.
No way to fix this until now i guess... They might fix in the next firmware, along with other bugs noticed in 4.2

Yeah, I realized this making more tests with Stamina off. Too bad because Stamina is actually effective to save energy.
Actually even in 4.1 Stamina here gives more problems than it should. Things like the notification light not blinking and several other bugs, I use no battery saving options.

Yeah, I had troubles with missing led blinks for my notifications too.
What I do for saving battery is turning my connections off manually. Also, killing apps constantly and freezing other unused apps with Titanium Backup kinda helps.

OK this is for avoiding clock delay, but does it make notifications to work correct too?

[Q] Stamina Mode

With Stamina Mode on, the battery is decent. My question is,
1) if I have it on 24/7 forever, will it harm the Z3 alot?
2) if I keep using it with screen on like playing games and have the stamina mode on, will battery goes even faster then its not on?
3) what about the ultimate Stamina mode?
I'm also wondering about that. Hope someone will post here some information.

1) No, it won't harm the Z3 at all.
2) Stamina mode, if you set it up for extended usage will limit the performance which you may, or may not notice when playing games. Battery drain will be less than without Stamina mode.
3) What about it? With it on your data connections are gone, Calls and SMS are your only communication mediums available, and a limited selection of basic apps (Calendar, Clcock, Album, FM Radio, Calculator) and the Camera. This of course rules out gaming.
Phil
Ultra Stamina Mode is usually for when your battery hits the 10-15% mark and you need extra juice for the next few hours. As mentioned there is no data so only calls and SMS.
So ultra stamina is like in aeroplane mode. No wifi/bluetooth as well?
STAMINA mode effect can be seen only when screen is off.
I will quote sony
When the screen is off, in order to save battery life, WIFI and mobile data will be temporarily disabled, and most applications will be inactive.
When the screen is ON, your phone will function normally.

So that means, when screen is ON, stamina dosent do anything. Your phone will act like there is no stamina mode at all.
Here is information about Queue background data
Another new and important power management feature is the Queue background data* functionality, which minimises the number of network connection attempts when the screen is off. By queuing and releasing all network requests at set intervals of 15 minutes, the time spent in the connected radio state is minimised and the battery life is increased. When Stamina Mode is enabled, the Queue background data will only queue the connections for white listed applications, since all other applications are already blocked from using network connections.

I have problems with Stamina Mode. It doesn't work for majority of the apps. Meaning, even if I don't whitelist an app in the stamina mode, their notifications shows up and they send/receive data: Pushbullet, Gmail, Twitter are only few examples.
Is this the case for any of you?
Can you post screenshot of your configuration so i can tell you more.

Based on this, everything should work fine. Only two apps are allowed, and this too check for notification every 15min while screen is off.
I dont know what cause the problem :/.
Also, remember when you put your phone to charger, stamina is disabled while charging.
Yeah and I can't be the only one
First I thought the problem might be due to light flow app but disabled that and tried without that and result is the same.
(Should I have uninstalled, not sure but I just disabled light flow when testing)
Just out of curiosity, is there anyway to auto trigger stamina mode without rooting the phone?

Turn on Stamina Mode, and you can set what percentage of battery it activates at.

Stamina mode on and still receiving notification

Hi everyone,
The Stamina mode seems not to work properly on my Z3. Indeed, although the remaining battery time increases dramatically when I activate it, the Z3 still warns me when an email arrives or anything else. Plus when I switch the screen on I clearly see that Wifi or mobile datas is not paused. I can even ping it when on wifi. So I wonder if the Stamina mode actually works. I have already delete cache and datas of the app in Settings but nothing changed.
What about yours ?

when u turn on the screen stamina mode won't prevent data usage
it almost works when users turn off the screen.
also there s an option to avoid waking up the phone on lock screen (when using stamina mode)

Thanks for you answer. Yesterday I saw it worked because as soon as I turned the screen on I saw the LTE network back and all my emails
flowed.
What I mean is that I know that mobile data is on when the screen is on, but from what I checked there's always a bit of latency for the cellular datas to be back when you switch the screen on., and usually I see that they are newer switched off except on scarce times like yesterday.

Z3 Stamina Mode: unusable?

Here's the thing, since I sold my z2 I've been browsing around different manufacturers, but that's not too relevant, just wanting to say I have experience with Sony and stamina mode since I've owned:
Z, Z Ultra, Z2 (some others not from sony) and now Z3.
The thing is that either Stamina is now unusable when compared to what I remember on previous owned Sony phones, or there's something I'm setting up wrong...
First I know that after enabling Stamina, you can add exceptions, basically applications that will still receive notifications while Stamina mode is ON.
On my past Sony phones, this meant instant notifications, as it was expected, I guess, and I was happy with it, as I need to have gmail, calendar and some messaging app always connected.
Now onto Z3.
I see that just turning on Stamina won't let me add exceptions, and that requires extended standby to be ON too.
Ok, I turn it on and it says that it will turn off mobile data and wi-fi, and I'm like wtf how will I get notifications then? Anyway I turn it ON set my usual apps in exceptions list...and this is where the "fun" begins.
It seems like the exceptions list I set simply does not matter as I will not get any notifications if the screen is off. And I mean NO notification whatsoever. If I turn the screen on, they all appear.
So this is not like I am expecting for Stamina mode to work...does Sony really ruined this piece of software like it seems?
How is it that on my other Sony phones Stamina worked as expected: very low standby drain with notifications actually always incoming (only from apps in exceptions)? Vs this thing now, which is basically useless if you want to have some notifications still, with it turned on.
Disable the "data/Wi-Fi off when screen off" toggle, maybe?

You cannot have Stamina Mode enabled without turning ON the Extended Standy mode too...which turns off the mobile/wi-fi data. Smart isn't it?
EDIT: To add to the issue, if I enable and then disable the stamina mode, it aparently stops notifications permanently for some apps...what the actual F?
I have it:
*Stamina on
*Active 100%
*Extended off
*Performance limit on
*Watch mode disabled (since extended in disabled)
Why can't you do it?

Because my phone apparently won't let me.
I CANNOT, repeat, CANNOT let stamina ON without enabling extended standby. It's that simple...this thing sucks

Just updated with the stagefright fix build, I see what you set up there, but what is the meaning of stamina mode like that? That is just a performance reducing feature, not Stamina, it I set it up like that.
Just to add to the injury, to some apps that were in the exceptions that did not receive notifications in stamina mode (or extended mode whatevs) I had to clead cache/data for them, to actually receive notifications again AFTER disabling extended batt mode.
I cannot fathom how wrong this thing is, they basically ruined a perfectly working feature of the phone, that I actually liked/used.
Not sure how you want it to turn off the internet when screen off (as the text says it will) yet allow them to work and have notifications on time? Maybe have some at an interval ( as the other switch says) ?
Just because it did it in the old phones does not mean anything.
Oh, do you use any firewall? It needs to be whitelisted too.
In the mean time how much does a full charge hold you anyway? 2 days? Less?

If it was possible then? Why not anymore? Software regresses on Xperias now? Damn wrong if that's true.
I also thought there must be an interval at which notifications are being checked for whitelisted apps, but If I receive a message on whatsapp at let's say 3 o'clock it will not notify me even after 2 hours. (this happened)
Tried factory reset, firmware update, all that I could, but no go.
No firewall also, clean connection. A full charge gets me trough two days mostly, one and a half if I go insane wiht picture taking and gaming. All in all pretty good battery life, but not that amazing compared to the old Z2.
I think I need to get rid by this OCD of having features that actually work, by flashin the marshmallow concept build, at least that one doesn't have Stamina mode!

Compare Z2 vs Z3, not sure who promised you "better" battery life on the Z3 but they lied.
