USB device not recognized - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, today hasn't been going well. After flashing a ROM and it saying my paid apps are pirated (they are not) and making a 0 folder and then putting the default folder in the SD card (internal) I decided that I wanted to start clean, I was going to copy the titanium Backup folder to my PC and then delete everything on my note (all folders, everything) flash a new ROm and copy the folder back to my tablet and enjoy the smoothness.
However,
My device is not recognized by my PC and I have no idea how to fix it. I'm currently on CM 10.1 4.3.1 =.
Can anyone help me?

[Q] Moving Clockworkmod folder

Hi all,
Can't seem to find an exact answer to my question in the forums. I want to start flashing CM nightlies or at least the latest stable version as I am currently running M2. My device is a VZW SGS3. My problem is that I am almost out of internal storage after backing up touchwiz and my CM10 M2. The clockworkmod folder is taking up almost 5 gigs of memory. Is it safe to move this folder to an external sd card? If I do move it over, would I have to move it back every time I want to restore a backup or access my backups/blobs in Rom Manager? Also, when moving files in Root Explorer is there a way to move them without pasting them? Or is it best to just paste then delete the original file and repeat as needed?
Thanks a ton!

sdcard/0/0 issue

So i just moved from Jelly Beans build 14 to Liquidsmooth 2.2, which totally wrecked the way my sd card is set up. I didn't like what was happening on smooth, so I tried going back to my CM backup, which could not be found. I then noticed that I had new folders, which I assume were created due to the multi user thing on 4.2.
Now I cannot restore my backup, nor do my titanium backups show up when i try to restore all my apps. Is there a fix or this or am I **** out of luck?
Just cut everything from you farthest /0 folder and paste in on the root directory. You nandroids and titanium backups will return. If u want to get rid of the /0 folders all together you'll have to wipe the internal memory. Beware to back up anything not on your external SD. I recommend to make future backups to external SD if u use 4.2x roms.. Or use twrp

If you flash a 4.2.2 ROM, TWRP only reads the files on sdcard/0/ so if you have files on sdcard/ it will not be able to see them as it only accesses the emulated storage.
Use a root file browser to get to the area you want to change.

[Q] Cant find TWRP Backups

Ok, here is the deal....
1 - bought a new VZ GS3 (did not install a micro SD card, onboard memory/storage only)
2 - ran "casual unlock/root"
3 - made a full backup of the stock ROM in TWRP
4 - installed CM 10.1.2
5 - made a full backup immediately of CM in TWRP
6 - installed all my apps and data and got everything set the way I wanted it
7 - made another complete backup of CM in TWRP
Now comes the tricky part....
When browsing with file manager on phone, or connected via USB w/debugging.... I find that /storage/emulated/0/TWRP AND /storage/emulated/legacy/TWRP.... both only show the backups I made of the Stock ROM in step 3 above. There is no sign of the CM backups I made later.
When I boot to recovery and choose restore in TWRP, the 2 CM backups I made (steps 5 & 7 above) are visible, but the Stock backup (step 3 above doesnt show.
So.... when the phone is booted and I browse, or I am connected via USB, I see stock backup, but cant see it in recovery. When I am in recovery, I see the Cm backups, but not the stock backup.
This has me bumfuzzled. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Your stock TW backup should be in data/media due to the way that multi-user is employed for 4.2 JB. Since multiuser adds a /0 to your internal storage, anything from TW roms will be moved or appear hidden in AOSP and in recovery. Use a file explorer to move that stock TW backup to the same path as your CM10.1 backups and you'll be set.

Thank you. Actually, it was the opposite.... my CM backups were in data/media/TWRP. So, I copied my stock backup to the data/media/TWRP folder, and it now shows up in TWRP. Problem is, I cant see the "data" folder (or subfolders) when connected to my pc. So, I have to copy the backups to the /storage/emulated/0/TWRP that I "can see" when connected to my pc, and then copy the backups to the pc from there. I like to keep copies of my backups on my pc just in case. But since I cant see the "data/media/TWRP" folder, I have to copy them elsewhere, then copy them to my pc.
I dont guess there is any way fo changing where TWRP looks for backups is there? That way I could have TWRP look in the /storage/emulated/0/TWRP folder that I can see with my pc, rather than the data/media/TWRP folder, that I cant see
Thanks again! At least I found the CM backups and copied them elsewhere so I could transfer them to my pc :good:
EDIT: Spoke too soon. By moving the stok backup to data/media/TWRP.... it does indeed now show in TWRP, and is available for restoration. BUT.... I have tried copying the CM backup to other areas of storage (so I can access them when connected to my pc) but they still do not show up
Edit 2: rebooted the phone and I can now see the CM backup that I moved. It just sucks having to copy it elsewhere, then copy it to my pc.... but at least I can do it. Will putting a SD card in the phone solve this issue?
You could use an app like Airdroid to transfer files wirelessly. You can view the entire file system and can copy files over. There isn't a way to reconfigure TWRP to point elsewhere to restore backups although there is a file browser in TWRP/Advanced that you could use to move folders around.
Having an sdcard does help. I only save TWRP backups to my external sdcard and have no issues on AOSP or TW. Just make sure the card is formatted to Fat32. Personally, I prefer to transfer files to my laptop with Airdroid to avoid using wires. I haven't noticed any issues being unable to view files.

thanks for the tip on the sd card. I didnt think I had one and was going to pick up a 32GB. I found an 8GB I had, booted to TWRP, made a full backup on the ext card, then moved my other backups to the card.... worked like a charm. Deleted the copies all together on my phone to free up space. Now they are all on the card and easy to transfer to my pc.... so no matter what I have copies in 2 places ready to use if need be.
Much appreciated!

You will need to use Odin on your computer and flash back to a stock rom

[Q] Help with TWRP

Flashed a ROM and the ROM moved the all files in the root of my storage to a folder within a series of subfolders.
This is bad because my TWRP folder containing my backups was in the root of my storage.
But of course things can't just work how you'd expect, so my computer and phone refuse to copy the TWRP folder back to where it belongs.
My computer refuses to copy the files "data.ext4.win000"
There seems to be nothing I can do about this. My phone wont copy it and my computer won't either.
However, I am wondering if there is a way to make TWRP restore from a backup that is not where it belongs.
Whenever I go to restore, it doesn't give me an option to search elsewhere for my backups. Yet for some reason I am allowed to install a .zip from wherever I want.
Is there some sort of terminal command I can do within TWRP to make this work? Thank you.

Cyanogenmod doesn't recognize SDcard

Hi all,
I damaged my Android a bit during the Upgrade to Cyanogenmod 13. I'm using the nightlys. I forgot to make a backup during the last update... unfortunately it was the Cyanogenmod 13, with all the issues. I did the backup directly after upgrading (before booting). It was still three hours of work to downgrade back to CM12, but I finally did it. Everything works fine except of one thing: My internal storage isn't recognized as a SDcard...
All my apps are installed. All my settings and SMS and so on are lost. If I go to "Storage", all my data is recognized in the right way, so like 2 GB of Pictures, some songs and so on, so my data is there. But: If I'm browsing in ES file browser, going to the folder "/sdcard", the folder is empty. It has the symbol for a link. So my thought was, that this link is just wrong after the downgrade. But I can't find the orignal location of my folder.
Can you help me, where is the original folder? And how to fix the link?
Thanks for helping me
