This looks sketchy, moderator???

This website uses vroot. Wasn't vroot declared illegal on xda along with kingo?

Here is the deal on all of the above...
The above mentioned methods are still very questionable and although allowed to be discussed here, direct links/linking to them is not allowed. All users are taking risks in anything they do to their devices, even here with the best the world has to offer as far as the amount and quality of development goes.
That being said, if you decide to go away from XDA to use some other/not endorsed method of doing things, don't come back in here expecting solutions, and DO NOT resort to fraudulent activities to get your device replaced.
It is clear that there is plenty of other discussion about these methods elsewhere, and for such a short lived thread, it is looking more like a troll attraction in here. I am going to close this one.
As far as the above methods? Proceed at your own peril.

How many people are rooted.

Please if your rooted just leave a small message. I'm doing a survey to see how many android users are rooted. Only one reply please.

*looks at feet* Nope, I'm not rooted. I dont think I've ever been. My phone is though.
Most of the people here on XDA have rooted phones. What are you going to use the data for? You can't do much with the data you will collect here.
Ask Carl Sagan...billions & billions & billions....
I'm going to compare people rooted to the number of android phones currently used. I'm a computer science major and im arguing that there are more people rooted then others think. Also my main point is the benefits of root

It's probably going to be like a 100,000:1 ratio. Vast majority run stock.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
....
this wont prove anything, the majority of people that own rootable phones dont even know what rooting is. and asking on xda whos phone is rooted to compare to rest of the android users isnt a fair proportion.... most ppl on xda root their phones but xda users represent the minority of the population of people that own android devices.

If you want to do a real survey, you would have to randomly select at least 500 android users. You probably want 800-1000 users to keep the margin of error reasonable.
What you're doing here is the wrong way to do a survey. You will get very skewed, worthless results.
I want the survey to be bias and favor me. But this forum isn't turning out well. All I wanted was a simple yes I'm rooted. Not explanation. So please close

y dun TS just make a poll @@
is much easier
Every poll about this is pointless. Sure here on xda we're all rooted, but truth is most people in the world don't. Just my 2 cents...
I have to agree. Polls like this will prove nothing and as you stated that you only posted this to try and lean the report in your favor instead of real facts. I will close this.

It depends how you put it in terms. For example, jailbreak meaning installing a better ROM on your phone than the one you already have, and secondly, you can only jailbreak an iPhone being the term 'jailbreak' came from iDevices.
are you insulting me, because i'm not fat.
Jailbreak is a term use in iOS. In android, we root our phones. Why? Few reasons, to install custom ROM, it is mainly because that phone no longer receiving update, so have to rely on xda. 2nd, to over clocked your phone. 3rd , dislike skinned ui, example HTC sense , Samsung touch wiz and more. So they would go for pure android aka vanilla. Or some prefer cyanogen version. Anyway, welcome to android, you can find almost all information about your android phone here. Have a nice day

Google root + your device and carrier. It has worked for me as a new guy. Read up on it first and be careful as flashing roms and root can have permanent negative consequences. Just find your device here on xda and that should be a good starting point

First off what phone did you get? And if you are new to android, rooting, custom roms etc, I recommend you use the stock android your phone came with for a little to get familiar before you go changing things around.

we don't jailbreak android devices , as it is not needed here , but sometimes we root it to gain some special controlling over the device properties.
I would not recommend you to do so , until you get used to the new system and its abilities .

To root or not to root ..

What are your reasons for rooting your HTC one ?
what does rooting offer to better the experience .. ?
Personally I used to root simply to off the ads, but it hit me that I barely have any since I usually get the adfree paid versions.
I really want to root but have no incentive to, convince me .
Still for the ads, I accidentally clicked many of them in the browser. Greenify is a good reason too.

Advanced backup features and the ability to play with ROMs.. but mostly backup my whole phone. But with Helium (from clockworkmod) I don't even need to do that anymore, I'm happy with app data.

Exactly
what's a phone?
root
of coz you should root if there is a safe and reliable method available.
the main advantage of rooting is you can save tons of battery life by installing customs roms that comes with less bloatware.run the phone full screen.louder sound.stronger cell and wifi signal.speedier and smoother system. best of all u get the latest andriod version, which i believe HTC had disgustingly discontinue the update for htc one. gets roms like pac man or jellybam which are more stable. cheers

My first Samsung S3 4G :)

Hello all,
I worked a long time with the HTC Sensation, tested roms up till the last ones here on the forum, but finally he doesn't work anymore (even no charging light with different battery's).
So it was time finally to switch to Samsung as it's the producer of most Android phones, so most support, roms,...
I haven't followed this Samsung forum section yet, which are the newest & stable roms at the moment that you can recommend ?
PS : i like that startscreen with news / facebook / agenda... in squares, a bit windows 8 like news overview (I don't know how it's called), is this also in a recent rom or where can i find the apk file ?
I think I will receive the Samsung next week with the old Jellybean Android rom.
Bought it for +-€200 second hand in excellent condition, don't want to pay laptop prices of €400-€500 for the S4/S5, as long as it's fast enough, 4G and HD screen i'm satisfied
My friend recommended the LG Nexus 5 of €300 (better than the Iphone) but that's again 1/3 more expensive.
Thanks for any tips!!!
Kit Kat rom , my recommendation is omni
If you like 4.3 ROM, amcha.
The tile thing, I think you could just simply use a launcher to achieve it.

one size doesn't fit it all - that's why are all those great ROMs out there...chose the one you like and suits your needs...for me is stock+root+DeKnox...
if still has warranty don't even think about upgrading to stock 4.3.
Mod Edit
"Best" or "Recommend" ROM/kernel threads are not allowed on XDA.
Please test these things for yourself.
This is the only way you will get an unbiased opinion, and then, you can decide for yourself if it meets YOUR needs.
Don't forget to make a nandroid before you start.
