[HELP] i need a ROM+KERNEL EXTREME battery life - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all !
There are several days that my nexus s battery life very short!
Halfway through the day I put it on charge.
I use SlimBean Slim-crespo-4.3.build.2-OFFICIAL-1332+kernel
much use for messages, internet, calls.
I would like a rom + kernel that are able to maximize the battery life, taking decent performance, and also if there are any tricks or tips to increase the battery life
I accept any advice about it!
thank you!

I had good luck on this ROM... But for pure battery life JellyShot and Marmite had the best results for me... Phones and usages vary, so take a look at my chart, there may be something there to aid your search..

In my option the lates 10.2 Nightly M1 ist quite good.Absolute stabel and if you mod it with openpdroide & boost the ram values with SuperchargerV6 its realy fast (Als Zram & KSM)
Despide alle the software, how old is your battery ? Its very cheap to replace it, because after 2 years and an average charge ons per day, im sure the battery will decreased its capacity.

For me the best for battery das vanir 4.3 or stock v20b. Any 4.2 is slow and buttery eater compared to those 2

Which custom ROM gives you best battery life?

Poll: which custom rom do you get the best battery life with? Or stock?

Moved to general
Ive always found that CM gave me the best battery life, but right now so many roms are in an early stage of development its hard to say.
And its just just the ROM itself its a combination of the ROM and Kernel

If you want great battery life, get a blackberry.
I'm using Bionix NS1 and Trinity 1.2 OC'd Kernel. Battery life is about average for a Super Phone. The Nexus S has a 4" screen, 512mb of RAM, a 3d GPU, and a 1ghz processor; how good can the battery life get? Just ten years ago, a laptop with specs like this was considered pretty fast. If you get a day or so from the battery, be OK with that. Technically, the Nexus S is a miniature computer, and will suck power as needed.
CyanogenMod has done far better than anything for me. I have tried all the roms but am always coming back.

Which one is Better...Slimbean or Cm 10.1....
Try it, nobody can tell you which one is better.
It all depends on how you set up each ROM. A stock ROM can have better battery life than aftermarket. I don't base my choice off of battery because I always get excellent battery life out of any of them because I set them up for battery life, not performance.

Agreed. I believe at this stage of the game good battery life can be had on any reputable ROM.

[Q] Best Rom and kernel for battery life

Hello guys,
Can you tell me which rom and kernel do you use? And that you have pretty good battery life and smoothness?
Thanks!
That's a wide open debatable question for the ages....
Its main factor is ur usage and settings (ie: notifications, display & governor)
It also will depend way to much on what Apps u add to a certain ROM since some Apps are battery hogs.
The other issue is how old ur battery is.... Original, new or off brand.
But from my experience...
Slim ROM with newest marmite kernel but use the basic download without "Google now" or other extras.
Good luck
Vs Nexus S4G using tapatalk2
Another possibility is to use a GB rom

[Best Battery ROM]

I dont mind downgrading but i need a ROM which has best GPS and also the best battery backup. I tried every ROM here and i get nearly 5 hours of battery that is all.

Smartass2/deadline 1000/100 mhz (only about an hour on 3g)
I was out today, and had screen at max brightness using gps for directions, playing solitaire and using 3g for FB, email ect... I only got 6 hrs battery with 3.5 hrs screen time.. I really didn't think that lowering the brightness helped that much, as I usually don't have it at full, but there is a huge difference.. Over 50% drop in battery life..
A simple rom with rich dark kernel
If u want the best battery from your phone consider trying Rasbeanjelly ROM with matr1x kernel. This ROM and kernel has always given me the best battery life though this ROM is not as highly customizable as aokp, paranoid android etc.

RC2 isn't that old (eaven if they pussed RC4 now), SO I'm guessing you dont have it installed for a long time, stay with it a couple of days and let the sistem calibrate the battery properly, after a fiew charging cicles it will be fine...if that doesent work try bb6 with marmite or helly 4.1.2 with Devil kernel updated
I've been frustrated with the battery, as I use this phone as my daily.. I recently bought a 3800 mah battery and get about 7 hours of screen time with moderate to heavy use.. I'm a bit more reassured now

Is that the extended battery?
The one that makes the phone fat?
Yea! Exactly that one.. But I don't notice it too much to be honest.. My thumb does most of my phone work.. And sometimes I used to be stuck phone-less, so for me the weight is a small price to pay

I too play Ingress, if you're getting about 5 hours of play time you're doing very good. Most people that I play with get 2 hours max as Ingress is a client heavy app. Remember that playing Ingress is like streaming a movie to your phone and running GPS. The data/Wi-Fi and GPS use a lot of power as they are always on with your screen. I have found that if I tether my phone to another device and just use Wi-Fi for data I get about another 30 min of play time, or if I just use the phone as a hot-spot I will get about 4 hours of play on my N7 with out recharging.

Depends on your requirements for phone usage:
-Gingerbread rom = battery last mosts, lowest battery drain, not very stylish, used for watching movies or gaming for it's around 200MB free Ram and long phone usage with Wifi.
Rom i recommend: GingerSnap from neko95's blog site.
-IceCreamSandwich: this one has a little less battery life and free ram, but it has better UI, greater app compatibility, It's something between Gingerbread and JellyBean.
Rom i recommend: IcySnap again by neko95.
-JellyBean: if it weren't for the big battery drain - expecially when on Wifi, I would choose this. You definitely need sdext script for its low free internal storage, will experience some stress when you need to do something fast but your phone start lagging as hell suddenly. Oh, wifi teathering has still some issues. Definitely not for gaming. But I'd still go with this if it weren't for the big battery drain.
Rom i recommend: CM10.1.6, get it from my thread "Jenkins" or search for "jenkins armv6" on google.
If it's for your GF why not stick with stock rom?

For GB, I experience OXYGEN by popdog is very smooth and fast for gaming in particular compared to Neko's GingerSnap. Of course, need comprise on UI.

Kitkat themed...why didn't you've said so in the beginning..
There is a Kitkat themed ROM based on latest stable JB, Link will be given in next edit.
Edit 1: All the ROMs for P500 have built-in kernel, you don't need to flash another kernel cos the build-in is probably the best for the ROM.
Edit 2: Here's the link .

LOL, I just going to say the same rom as MW, the themed kit kat 4.2. It has a all the features (specially the bluethooth working), and has kit kat experience. But battery is not as draining as you said, yesterday I went all the night with 5%. The wifi is the only battery killer, but otherwise not too much. I use the one power guard to save battery and is the heaven.
Well the Kitkat is based off CM10 and yes, CM10 has the biggest battery drain.
You wanted Kitkat themed alike and noting comes close as that ROM, still no-one said it would be perfect
If I were you, I would just get ICS ROM and get some Kitkat theme for homelaucher and theme manager. Satisfy both battery and kitkat UI
