[Q] Can you help me fixing my Desire S? - HTC Desire S

My friend asked me to help him fixing his Desire S. I don't know what happened with this phone but at the moment it seems it's bricked. When i start it i see the HTC logo but a few seconds later a phone image comes in with a red exclamation mark and that's all. I can enter the 3e recovery if i press the volume up + the power but i can't do anything there.
I tried the "wipe date/factory reset" and the "wipe cache" option and that's what i see:
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
E:failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory)
-- Wiping data...
Formatting /data....
E:Can't open /data/cwpkg.zip
E:Can't open /data/cw.prop
E:Can't open /cache/cwpkg.zip
ECan't open /cache/cw.prop
Formatting /cache...
Data wipe complete.
After i tried to install a rom from the SD card with the "apply update from the sdcard" option but i got an "invalid operation" message and the phone rebooted instantly. So basically i can't do anything with the recovery.
I figured out that it's got HBOOT too if i start the phone with the volume down + the power:
SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-0.98.0002
eMMC-boot

I don't know what can i do with it because i'm not a HTC expert. But it's working. I see the S-ON part and i assume i need S-OFF to reflash anything. I tried to run a RUU installer from my PC and it was doing it's thing but a few minutes later i received a signature error.
If i connect the phone to the PC via fastboot i can communucate with it in the command line but i can't replace the recovery because i receive this: FAILEDremote: signature verify fail)
I'm clueless now. Is this a brick? Or is there anything else that i can try?
Thank you!

This error message may mean that the nand memory is damaged. In this case the only repair is replace.
Still you can try to figure the region and software version by running the command from a PC with connected device in FASTBOOT USB mode:
fastboot getvar all
Look for cidnum and main version.
For that you will need the fastboot binary - link in my signature. This will guide you to the proper RUU for this device. Find it in the forum, download it to the PC and start it with the device connected. If the RUU fails then replace the nand or throw it in the trash...

I am afraid that such RUU is not available.
You still have 2 options:
1) easier, but buggy - go to www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads, filter by Device - Desire S, Android version 4.0 and look for RUU 14.01.401.2, 404.0 MB in size, then flash it. If the problem is solved you can keep it or unlock the bootloader and use a custom ROM (recommended)
2) create a GoldCard (search the forum) and try an unbranded European RUU from here , that has 401 in its name:
RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.47.401.4_Radio_20.28I.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03_M or

Thank you, you are the hero of the day! The first option helped me to bring this phone back to life. It's working now and starting up without any issue.
But... i put my hungarian telenor sim card in and it's still showing that no sim inserted. Maybe it's carrier locked? I need to remove the simlock? If so, which is the best way to do it?

There is no pure software way to achieve this for our device. If you have a XTCclip in your city this can be done with hardware means.
Or just unlock the bootloader via htcdev.com, install 4EXT Recovery and flash a custom ROM. Currently my choice of preference is SVHD. There are several guides around that will provide step by step instructions. But not sure does this remove the SIM restriction, maybe someone else here can provide more information...

I did a few things while i was waiting for your answer. I was able to unlock the bootloader and i flashed a TWRP recovery. With this i could install a CM7 rom + Gapps. With this rom i can enter my pin code and i can make phone calls. So basically i'm ready. The phone is working, i have Play store and i can make calls. Okay, maybe that's not the best rom for this phone but i don't care. I will give this phone back to my friend and he will be really happy because he tought the phone is bricked.
Thank you for your help, i really appreciate it!

You need to re-flash the ICS firmware from here --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618
If it's an ICS ROM, flash the second one. If it's a Gingerbread ROM, flash the first one. Put the PG58IMG.zip on your SD card along with your ROM. Hold VOL-DOWN while you boot, and I think it asks you if you'd like to update (you do). You then need to remove the PG58IMG.zip from your SD card.
Boot into recovery after that and flash your ROM. If it still boot loops, that means you didn't flash the PG58IMG file correctly.
it says

Hi,
You need to go HERE
Read the thread carefully, and it will guide you to which PG58IMG.zip you need for your phone.
Once you have flashed the appropriate firmware (PG58IMG.zip) it is important to delete the PG58IMG.zip from your sd card.
Then ,you can super wipe and flash your ROM.
right ill try this
but at the moment
when i get into recovery it loads the some file and it says wrong cid and it asks to reboot but it didnt
i dont have a card reader so im going to to a cafe of something
cheers for this
1. fastboot load into the bootloader and do:
fastboot getvar cid
fastboot getvar mid
If you don't have fastboot I have provided a download of it at the bottom of this post. Read the Read-Me file inside of it.
2. For those without fastboot you can use an app called CID Getter. CID is displayed at the top. MID is at the line ro.mid
This will not tell if you are SuperCID or not it just tells your original CID.
3. If you want to do it by terminal, open a terminal on the phone and do:
su
getprop ro.cid
getprop ro.mid

Fastboot is done on the pc,once you plugged your phone in with a USB.

[Q] stuck on splash-screen

Hey guys
I've got a bit of a situation. A friend of mine gave me this sensation (carrier T-mobiel) wich was all but bricked. Since I have some experience rooting and flashing custom ROMs, he asked me to give it a try at reviving it.
The owner had been messing around a bit himself and he managed to install clockwordmod recovery. Don't know if he installed any ROM, the device gets stuck on splashscreen.
I did the following; full format, superwipe and install a ARHD ROM. result was te same; stuck on splash-screen.
Then I did another full format, wipe and installed Cyanogenmod, still the same result.
I wanted to try and install 4EXT touch recovery, but the device doesn't respond to any USB connection method so ADB won't work. there's no working ROM so installing through the app won't go either. basicly, I don't know if there's a way to uninstall and install a recovery through flashing.
I have another phone to use to store required files on a SDcard.
these are the things dat DO work:
Bootloader, fastboot and clockworkmod recovery v5.8.0.9
this is the device's bootloader information

Hi,
2 things you can try.
1.Run a GingerBread RUU.
Look HERE
2.If that works,try s-off.
Look HERE
Then, you could change firmwares and do whatever you like.
Hi Malybru,
I understand what you suggested and I'm currently working on it. Only I can't find the right RUU for this phone.
Current CID is: T-MOB003
getting it superCID'd was no go since I can't get it S-OFF with the revolutionary utility. is there another way to S-OFF the phone besides revolutionary?
edit: I downloaded and executed a RUU that apearantly wasn't compatible with the phone. I'm guessing it removed whatever ROM was installed, but didn't install the ROM from the RUU.
I also followed step 3; RUU to restore stock up to the part of relocking the bootloader. I didn't come any further cause I can't find the right RUU.
the phone now only boots into bootloader with "security warning" displayed below "relocked".
I'm guessing, if I find the correct RUU with gingerbread, things will be okay again.
on a sidenote, does a RUU install also returns the recovery to stock?

Hi,
RUU does not matter too much as long as it is Europe and GB.
If you can find a dutch tmo ,then even better.
No harm will come if it is the wrong one.
It will only throw up an error.
This will at least get a ROM on your phone,so that you can s-off .
Revolutionary is the easiest way to s-off.
so, to summarize:
the RUU has to be TMO for either UK or EU. Does the radio need to match the one that's currently displayed in the bootloader?

Hi,
The closer the match, the more chance of success.
But close will do.
Yes,with the same radio.
finding a dutch RUU with this radio for TMO is pretty challenging. So I tried it with a german version (DE). Other then that it matches the radio, and the carrier.
the first method through the RUU.exe failed, it tells me to get the right RUU for my carrier/phone.
So I tried it through flashing with a SDcard. I changed the CID in the notepad file in the PG58IMG.zip to T-MOB003. In bootloader, it checks the file twice and after that nothing happens, the regular bootloader screen is prompted.
Then I tried to flash it through fastboot CMD command, pretty much my last option according to the guid you linked me. This also fails with the notification that it failed to verify 12 signatures.
now I found some universal firmware packages but they don't seem to contain any ROM and recovery, only firmware. are there any of these universal packages as complete RUU?
or is there a way to bypass the signature check with a fastboot command?

Hi,
Try the European RUU with the 10.14 radio that matches yours.
Add your CID in the PG58IMG text file.
Make sure you have the phone in fastboot when you attach your USB cable(it should say "fastboot USB"),and start running the RUU from your PC.
http://db.tt/A7lS7PaD
Here is a link to 4ext touch recovery as a IMG. http://db.tt/KFKpcrhB and here is a pg58img.zip. put the zip file onto the sdcard and boot to boot loader. It will hopefully flash the recovery. If not fast boot flash the IMG. Once you have the recovery installed enable smart flash and then flash the roms. Hopefully that will work for you
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda premium
tnx for the files.
I tried the suggestions you made but flash from sdcard doesn't work; it checks the file once and doesn't do anything after it.
when I try to flash either one of the files through fastboot I get signature verification fail.
my bootloader says RELOCKED, I got that after following step 3.1 in the RUU flash guide to return to stock. I don't know if this is blocking anything from being flashed with the nasty signature notifications?
also, most like because nothing is installed on my device, when I plug in the USB cable when it's turned off, it automatically swithces on displaying SECURITY WARNING below RELOCKED.
Damn, wasn't fast enough. I'm not sure what the best way to approach this is. Either attempt to full s-off the device with revolutionary/ jupuntobear, or re-unlock your boot loader with htcdev, then fastboot flash the recovery. Then install the rom. Then run jupuntobear to full s-off
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda premium
heavy_metal_man said the right thing. First focus on unlocking it on hTCdev.com and afterwards, flash a 4Ext Recovery to make things easyer. Then put the device in bootmenu (not in the Graphic shell) and attach a USB, start any Official European RUU that is Gingerbread - with 1.50 in the numbers.
an update
I managed to get it unlocked again with htcdev.com. After that I flashed 4EXT recovery, succesfully.
only thing now I need to do is installing a ROM. I tried the following without succes so far:
with RUU
I can't find a dutch RUU for TMO with radio 10.14.9035 anywhere so I tried the closest match possible, a german one. through the .exe method I get incompatibility errors. So I extracted the ROM/.zip, added my CID and tried with SDcard flash and fastboot flash, both unsuccesfull. Hboot checks the file twice and does nothing afterwards, and fasboot prompts the message "FAILED (remote ** unknown fail)"
Universal firmware package to make sure I'm on 3.32, so I can install ARHD 6.7.2 or any other ICS rom
I took one from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21711154#post21711154.
I get the same errors as when I was trying to flash the ROM.zip from the RUU, both with sdcard flash and fastboot flash.
a random Gingerbread ROM
I found this GB ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226564.
I installed it through EXT4. after a reboot it's stuck in a bootloop. No splash screen is shown however, it get's to the withe-field-green-HTC-screen and reboots after, showing the same.
I don't understand what's wrong. I got a good recovery now and the bootloader is unlocked. For some reason the ROM's I tried are incompatible with the current state of the device and I can't figure out why. are dutch T-mobile branded phones so tough to crack or what?
also, after a certain step wich I can't remember, my bootloader doesn't display a radio anymore.
Current bootloader:

EDIT: I would be less restricted in my actions if the damn thing were to be S-OFF. is there any way to get get S-OFF through bootloader/fastboot? All the S-OFF methods and utillities I found so far need the device to have a ROM running.
SOLVED
with help of KGS1992, I managed to restore the device.
- installed a stock GB ROM since I was on hboot 1.18, and to get root acces
- aquired root through adb
- gained S-off with revolutionary
reason why I couldn't manage this before is because I didn't have a genuin stock ROM.
tnx all for the help

I tried few methods but still nothing.. And, I found few methods like for 0.98 hboot or 2.3.5. android but my phone isnt that so Im not sure will it work. Thanks im advance

Is your bootloader unlocked? If so then flash a custom recovery and flash a custom ROM, they all tend to be pre-rooted.
Sent from my Desire S using xda app-developers app
You're already S-OFF so you don't need to worry about most steps in guides.
I assume you have a custom recovery? You can just flash one of the superuser/superSU zip packages. (Desire S uses ARM).
You may also need to flash busybox.
My good gentlemen,
he says the phone is s off already
If you want to ROOT your phone (my case: Desire S , Mfc date: 2011-July ). This is the procedures i learned from China Android forums, at least it works on Me.!!
Make Sure your Hboot is 2.00.0002
Prepare 2 files first: Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip and su-bin-3.0.3.2-efghi-signed.zip
(you should find those on the internet)
First:
Recovery --> install Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip from SDcard, and Reboot;
Second:
Recovery --> Install su-bin-3.0.3.2-efghi-signed.zip from SDcard Again and Reboot.
Usually, your phone should be Rooted.!!
Have Fun
Thanks for answers Well, the only thing I wanna do is flash a custom rom, and I dont know do I need rooted device for that? If I dont, what do I need? And, how can I check is my bootloader unlocked? And, where can I find a custom recovery? Can anyone link me please? Thanks ^^
I learned few things on my old Desire but this seems little complicated If isnt a probem, can anyone give me a step by step guide what I have to do to start flashing custom roms or something? I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance

Reboot to bootloader and check the first and second lines of text there...
first states < unlocked > if it was unlocked
second at the end: s-off.... or s- on
If your device realy was: s- off,
then your bootloader does not perform check of a signature,
so, in human language means: you may flash anything you want
custom recovery: clockworkmod or 4ext,
you may find in index thread for desire s...
here is the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146601
there you can find tutorials about flashing, rooting etc, etc...all you`ll need
here is another link to the help thread, where you may ask questions if you
stumbled somewhere, along the way
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2143855
one more thing: when choosing roms, you should only flash roms for your device
htc desire s ( that`ll save you headaches )
Erm.. Just checked and it says bootloader is locked :/ It is S-OFF but locked. How can I unlock it? On HTCdev or? Thanks

I`ve never had stock s-off device ( always had to do it myself )
but if you phone was never rooted before and its security flag is set to s- off,
then i think its bootloader will never check manufacturer`s signature
Try this:
download from the market or from 4ext thread (index thread )
< 4ext recovery updater > and from within that application,
try to install recovery ( you`ll need it anyway )
if that`ll turn out to be succesful, then your phone is ready for the ride...
Go to the thread from the second link ( help thread )
and ask there whether device that is s- off, needs its bootloader to be unlocked
in order to be ready to flash custom roms...
To unlock bootloader you may try comand ( not sure if that would work for you )
fastboot oem unlock
issued to you phone through comand prompt ...
Prior to this action you should set up ADB on your pc,
and of course install the drivers for your device...
Says this what I attached. What now?

Ok then...
you have to flash recovery via fastboot
1. download and set up adb and drivers for you phone ( and install them )
2. download recovery ( clockworkmod or 4ext )
3.extract < recovery_xxxyyy.img > from the zip file- if you downloaded it zipped...
4.rename file to < recovery.img > and place it in the folder
where you`ve placed ADB
5.open command prompt and issue command:
cd c:\name of the folder with ADB [ enter ]
6. reboot your phone to bootloader and wire it to you pc
7. issue command:
fastboot devices
if your device has been recognised( list of devices attached xxxyyy05321...)
you`ll see your phone`s ID
8. issue command:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
9. reboot bootloader, and from its option choose recovery
10. from recovery you may flash < superuser.zip >
if you just want your current rom rooted
or via recovery you may flash custom rom...
Alright mate thanks a lot. Im gonna try that as soon as I come home. Just one thing more, any chance of bricking my device? While doing that.

To be honest, when fiddling with phone`s system, bootloader etc..
however small- there is always a chance that you may manage to brick it,
but i`ve been followiing the above mentioned procedures- and many others before me,
many times, and it was always working without a problem,
it was tested and shared, first by the great ones among us,
so one may call them safe to perform,
but you should always remember to be careful,
and better read or ask twice, before doing something you do not fully understand
Ok just to make sure Im doing everything alright.
First, nothing to do with bootloader? Unlock or something?
Next, I create new folder on my pc on C partiton (because of cmd prompt you've said?), download adb and phone drivers and place them in the folder. Then install the drivers. Afterwards, download recovery and place it in the folder with adb and phone drivers and rename to recovery.img. Next, I reboot phone in bootloader and flash recovery. Then I have to reboot in bootloader again, how to? Phone will turn off so I can reboot in bootloader or what? Then I go in recovery, flash superuser.zip for rooted phone and afterwards flash custom rom. Thats it?

In bootloader, there is an option to reboot it,
While in fastboot usb mode, bootloader is the first option,
go into it (power button )....
There you can also find < recovery > option....
@chorba69
Go here and find the zip download link (here), extract to same folder as fastboot/adb (and optionally md5 check).
Reboot your phone into Fastboot (reboot to bootloader and if there is an option "fastboot", choose it, else you're already there)
Connect by USB (see the "+files" in my signature if you need windows drivers so your computer understands it's an android phone)
Open a command prompt window (hold shift, right click in the folder, open command prompt..)
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Wait for flash, if you see a message like "waiting for device", your phone isn't connected, you're on the wrong screen on your phone or your computer doesn't have the drivers installed.
Reboot back into bootloader
vol up/down, power button to choose Recovery
You now have a custom recovery (and you're viewing it), now you just have to select your zip from sdcard to flash it (this time the zip is the superuser/whatever).
Backups save phone's lives!
I'm curious about the first line of your hboot (after locked/unlocked/relocked)? e.g. mine is "SAGA PVT ENG S-OFF", if yours says "SAGA PVT SHIP S-OFF" then you're "radio s-off" and can do things like change your phones CID (let it use any network). If it's ENG S-OFF and not pre owned, then you're very lucky indeed (and some people might want more info about/a copy of your hboot)!
Paulie, I attached the image as you can see. Says it's PVT SHIP S-OFF. Do I need to do something before flashing recovery and superuser/rom etc? Or it's not important? Whats the difference anyways between PVT and ENG? And thanks ^^
Mhm. Just tried to flash recovery but recieved this message (attached). Im on FASTBOOT USB screen on phone and in the right directory on pc. Do I need to set up adb or something? Or what do I have to do now?
PVT is expected there, SHIP seems to mean "this version is for general release" whereas "ENG" signifies that it is an ENGineering version.

I'm surprised you got this error. S-OFF should've meant you had no problem. Instead, you can try using the PG88IMG.zip method. Place the file in the root directory of your phone's SD card, reboot to bootloader and it should detect it and ask you if you want to apply the update.
Remember to delete/rename/move this zip file after it's done, as you'll not be able to use your bootloader normally whilst it is detected.
If you still get another error message, let us know!
Please be careful with the file below.

If RUU din't help.. unlock bootloader, flash custom recovery, mount sd card and transfer ROMs. :good:
I cant flash custom recovery. I flash TWRP 2.5.0 but i need some password wich i dont have, withot is i cant enter to TWRP. I cant flash even CWM 6.0.3.1.
Look. My situation is :
Unlocked bootloader but i can lock it.
S-On
Cant use custom recovery
Cant root
I have no mounted any storage coz i cant do that.
I have no ROM, i have no OS on my phone. My phone is totaly clean, even TWRP doesnt work, cant flash CWM becouse it says
"The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
C:\Users\Phalanx\Desktop\One_S_All-In-One_Kit_v3.5\data>"
But i do step by step and check every move. My situation is very bad
I have CID 02_001 and i found possible good RUU RUU_Ville_U_O2_UK_1.78.206.4_Radio_0.16.31501S.17_2_10.23.31501S.10L_release_258707_signed
Im using All in one Kit. I cant do nothing more than unlock/relock bootloader.
If anyone help me i can pay for help, that is not the problem.
If you have stock recovery still then click recovery and that USUALLY will get external storage working. If not, then click "clear storage" Then try flashing TWRP. I would only recommend version 2.3.3.0, however, least buggy. Don't bother with CWM.

You have to download and put cwm.into the correct folder before you flash it.
I find fastboot commands simpler and easier, but up to you.
And that ruu is way to old...won't run with your current firmware.
Here's a video, just replace fastboot flash boot boot.img with fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Just follow what I said, if you have stock recovery then follow my steps. If you don't then you can definitely flash the stock recovery, because you don't need any external storage for it. Just Google "Ville stock recovery" and you'll get it. That will fix the external storage problem and in turn the rest of them.

SOLVED
Stock Recovery>Then Flash TWRP 2.5.0.0>Mounted SD>ADB Sideload>Instal ROM+Kernel(boot.img)>Rooted
And still S-On but i dont have time to S-Off
Now all is good.
S-Off is easy now though. You might as well, it makes flashing ROMs far easier.

[Q] Cannot flash any roms!

I've searched far and wide, and I found a lot of threads regarding the specifics of my problem, but none that solve it. A point in the right direction is much appreciated.
I have an AT&T HTC One X (used to be S-OFF now S-ON), unlocked, HBOOT 1.12.0002 CID 1111111
I've been running CM 10.1.3 for a while now and it's very glitchy and causes random reboots and freezes. I've been trying to upgrade to 10.2 or try a variety of different roms. When flashing I kept getting the following error: E:Error executing updater binary in zip..
I lived with the rom for a while because of the error, but today got fed up. I googled it and found out TWRP was probably the problem so I downgraded to 2.3.3.0. Then I got a (Status 7) error which means either that the ROM is not for the Evita (not true) or TWRP is out of date (true but necessary). I tried getting the .zip to stop checking what phone it was, didn't work.
SO I wonder if I have to upgrade HBOOT? I google it and try this guide.
It all worked up until the adb part, where at first it said the device was not there, then that it was offline, then it said permission denied. So I tried again thinking I did something wrong, but after flashing zip it said "FAILED(remote:99 unknown fail).
Now my phone is S-ON and stuck in bootloop. I'll flash boot.img and hopefully it will be fine, but I just want to know what the hell is wrong with my phone, any ideas? I cannot possibly continue with this stupid ROM as it's driving me nuts, but PHONE NOT COOPERATING.
Thanks!!!!!
Flashing boot.img did not work. I'm in bootloop hell.

Since you are S-On with SuperCID, I would say to revert back to your original CID and then flash the appropriate RUU. Make sure you definitely change back to your original CID, as trying to run the RUU with S-ON and SuperCID will brick your phone. You can then re-SuperCID your phone, unlock the bootloader, and try a new custom ROM. I would also recommend getting back to S-OFF after doing all of the above.

Hang on, there's something very fishy here. The hboot 1.12 is not an Evita hboot, that's an Endeavoru hboot. Please post your hboot details (the first five lines in bootloader), and please post the full filename of the ROM you're flashing.
I believe you're confused as to which device you actually have, and you're potentially trying to flash a ROM that isn't meant for your device.

No I have "Android Debug Bridge version 1.0.31".
Ah ok, that makes more sense! Are you absolutely sure the ROM you're flashing is an Evita ROM? Where did you download it and what is the full filename?
You said the phone was s-on but not anymore? Why did you return it to s-on? You're gonna need to get s-off again so you can RUU up to 3.18 so you can flash the recent aosp ROMs. When you get the error 99 after flashing the zip, just force a reboot back to bootloader by holding volume down and power together. Once you're back in bootloader you can start again (without the adb reboot bootloader command because you're already in bootloader) and you should get error 92 now. Now, before you give the adb soffbin commands you need to make sure the screen is unlocked and stays unlocked, also make sure usb debugging is enabled in developer options. If it's an aosp ROM you'll also need to grant root access to adb in developer options.
For now my suggestion would be to download a Sense ROM, preferably Android 4.0 or 4.1, this should at least boot and enable you to get s-off on your phone again. Don't forget top flash the boot.img via fastboot.

Your adb version is fine, you can leave that the way it is.

I decided to boot into recovery and flash CM 10.0.0, and so I got out of bootloop. It's very glitchy, the keyboard keeps crashing, but it "works".
Now I'm trying to get S-OFF using this tool. At first it didn't work, so I changed the CID back to original. Now I get the following error:
Before we continue:
Ensure your phone is rooted.
Disable "Fast boot" on the phone under Settings -> Power.
Enable "USB Debugging" under Settings -> Developer Options.
Make sure your HTC One XL is connected to your mac via a USB cable.
When you're ready, press return to continue...
Copying your misc partition to your sdcard partition...
Unknown id: if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4
Copying the file to your computer so we can work with it...
remote object '/sdcard/mmcblk0p4' does not exist
Making a backup copy here too...
cp: tmp/mmcblk0p4: No such file or directory
Changing CID to Super CID in local copy...
unable to read input file tmp/mmcblk0p4 at /Users/user/Downloads/OneXL_SuperCID_Mac_v1_1/bin/HOX_bin_partition_edit.pl line 22.
ERROR
There was a problem converting the CID in the local copy of your binary partition
and we can not continue.
Press return to exit
It might be that I did not disable fastboot, but that is because the option is just not available on the phone, there is no "Power" category. I did enable debugging, but there was no notification in the menu bar making me maybe think that the OS is just too glitchy for this to work.
I didn't know what else to do, tried unlocking the bootloader through HTCDev but when I got to step 13 the notification did not come on screen like it was supposed to and so that was unsuccessful. I guess this was a silly idea.
I'm trying to be as descriptive as possible in case this happens to anyone else!
Cannot find stock Android 4.1 as suggested, for some reason. I found this, but I have a mac and .exe files mean nothing to me. I figure 10.0.0 has to be as stable as it gets with what I have, so I reflashed and boot.img. Now I'm stuck in bootloop again! Am I not meant to have nice things?
Could you suggest a rom to download and flash? After that I'll try S-OFF via Facepalm again.

Well try any ICSbase rom......i did tried cleanrom 4.2 ICS base Rom sense 4.......but since u on 1.14 hboot u need to extract boot.img from original Rom to your working adb/fastboot folder and push it manually from fastboot.....
1.put ICS of your choice inside ur SD card
2.copy or extract boot.img from Rom you about to flash and place it inside your working adb/fastboot folder.
3.connect your phone to PC and make sure USB debugging check....and HTC driver install properly
4. Flash Rom from recovery and choose go back> reboot> bootloader and this would bring u to fastboot USB mode if u have correct driver install and USB debugging check .
5. Go to your adb/fastboot folder hold shift+right click > open command Window .....and enter code to push boot. img tru fastboot......I forgot the code...but I'm sure timmaaa knew out of his head......
6.if successfull......reboot system and u should have working ics sense 4 Rom
7.play with it a day or too before u attempt facepalm S-OFF and in the mean time do more reading.......
