App icons disappearing from home screen (GEL) - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This is an odd and extremely minor problem that I'm not really losing sleep over. But I'm curious if other people are experiencing this.
Sometimes, not all the time, when an app that I have a shortcut to on my Google Experience Launcher home screen is updated by the Play Store, its shortcut on the homescreen disappears. I can't figure out if this is for auto-updated apps, or if these are for apps that I have to manually update. But I definitely have noticed a connection between updates and icon disappearances.
Am I crazy? Or is this a bug?

I thought I was the only one! It is a very strange glitch.

I think this happens when the application icon has been updated. Some apps remove the existing icon while others leave the (old) icon but the app drawer will have the new icon.
There are a lot of app icons that are "fuzzy" on the Nexus 5 so I would expect that quite a few are updated.

Launcher 7 delay

Hi!
I'm experiencing some delay in Launcher 7 lately, i have the donate version 1.0.0.90 and am using it on a Galaxy S I9000 running 2.3.4
Sometimes when I hit the homebutton everything is still black, if I try to scroll the non animated tiles show up, but it seems "frozen". I can start apps but don't get the animation for it, also the app drawer list is not showing any apps. After a while, let's say 10 seconds, the animated contact tile is showing again and all the apps are listed in the app drawer, but this only holds as long as I don't open an app and return the launcher again :/
Anyone experiencing the same issues?
Thanks in advance, Smirny

[Q] Homescreen added while uninstalling an app

Whenever i try to unistall an app from the app drawer by dragging the app icon to the uninstall icon, a new homescreen automatically gets added.
While other homescreens are denoted by small dots this new homescreen is denoted by a small + sign.
I noticed this while i was on 4.4 and even now while i'm on 4.4.2.
I tried replicating the same other ICS device but it did not happen on that device.
Anyone else getting this?? Or is there something that i'm doing wrong??

good day.

Lag when scrolling vertically in app drawer

I'm getting lag when I use the vertical scroll bar in the app drawer, anyone got any solutions for this? I jninstalled the logcat app as people said rhos could be the problem, but the problem is still happening, any other suggestions? The problem disappers after reboot but after I use phone and some apps for a while the problem happens again

Physical World App

This app has appeared on my home screen after I updated numerous apps from Google Play.
I can find no information about it. No idea what it does. It does not appear in Settings - Apps nor does it have a widget. I've attached a screenshot of my home screen when the app is started. It adds a curved set of lines across the lower part of the screen and a icon in top right corner that when pressed, returns the screen to its original form.
Can anyone share information about this app?
I've had this exact same thing happen. Weirdly, this posting is the only thing I can find *anywhere* on the internet. It doesn't show up when I display the apps in Application Manager, which is pretty bizarre (and it's not sorted in alphabetical order in my app drawer).
Do you use GoLauncher? They've been touting something about making icons dance when you shake the phone, though that's not *quite* the behavior we see here.
Interestingly (and a bit scarily), when I long-pressed on it to delete it - it disappeared rather than displaying with the 'x' in the corner that would let me uninstall it.
An update: I re-sorted my app drawer again and it appeared. When I long-pressed and then pressed the X to uninstall it, I got a message saying "You will not be able to use the shortcut in App Drawer anymore, sure to delete it?".
I'm 99.999% sure this is more odd behavior from Go Launcher - which has become more annoying with every new release, to the point where I'm considering getting rid of it (sudden ads on lockscreen? Sudden pulldown notifications blocking the screen with no way to get rid of 'em?).
I can't imagine a *less* useful shortcut for them to offer, honestly!
I Agee. I have Go Launcher also and I have the same mystery app on my home screen. My daughter thinks it's pretty cool!

Can't open app drawer immediately after swiping up to go home

Hello,
I've discovered this bug in the navigation gesture system. The app drawer won't open after a second or so after swiping up to go home from any application. The only way to open the app drawer in this case is to swipe up from the bottom of the screen. Please help starring this issue on the Google Bug Tracker:

Thanks,
Done. That issue is frustrating
youre actually using the gestures? you really like to stand out from the crowd dont you?

Huh
Isn't this because the animation is still going?
I have the Same issue.
But its Not just swipe Up the App drawer. When you try to Open an App directly its the Same Problem.
Same when you use an App shortcut after going home.
Hope Google will fix it soon

Yes, but you can still swipe up from the very bottom of the screen to open the app drawer.
Issue fixed on December patch.
Does anyone misses the most used apps that appears when you swipe up or is it only me?

Still happening for me. I can't open any other app or swipe to a different screen right away after swiping up to go "home". I have to wait for that stupid corner animation.
- Edit: Looks like it is only still an issue with 3rd party launchers like Nova. Still BS Google has buggy launcher issues with Gesture Nav.

Yep, same, running Nova. Unfortunate lag. Also, if I'm in the App drawer swiping up doesn't return to home screen, it brings up "Search Apps" screen. Have to swipe back from the App drawer to get back to home.
Edit: Question, what's the purpose of flashing those bars in the corners with the resultant delay in running apps? Is there some functional purpose, or just a constant reminder that the Assistant can be accessed swiping the corners?
Edit: Fixed the App Drawer issue with swipe up not returning to home. It was a Nova setting. Also, reported delay issue to Nova and they responded it's a known issue with all 3rd party launchers, and hopefully Google will fix it in a future update. One work around is to use back swipe to exit apps to get back to home which avoids the delay.
