Cant Flash Anything in Twrp - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i cant flash anything in twrp everything i try to flash says failed. other than that twrp works fine. any ideas why?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Usually might have to reboot recovery in TWRP before flashing. Normally with Catalyst that is what it requires me to do and all works fine.

In twrp from the home screen select reboot and then select recovery. This should reboot into recovery. Then try flash. What file are trying to flash?

[Q] CWM Recovery vs stock recovery

after I flash CWM 6.0.1.2, if I reboot into recovery, the phone goes into Android system recovery. Why is that?
In order to go back to CWM Recovery, I have to go to ROM Manager, flash CWM 6.0.1.2 again, and then reboot into recovery. Once I am in CWM and need to exit (reboot), I get asked the following:
"ROM may flash stock recovery on boot. Fix?"
Yes - Disable recovery flash.
Should I click yes so the phone does not go into Android system recovery? there is a message that says this cannot be undone so I do not want to do something that may screw up my phone.
I am on stock but rooted, of course. Thanks.
Same thing happens to me. Even if I use twrp or cwm touch

First, restore back to stock, using any toolkit in development section
Then use that toolkit to install the recovery + superSU
Then download & install rom manager
Are you sure you do it right?
go to fastboot mode, then type
Code:
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img
Besides, the latest twrp.img is 12.9 MB.

Were you careless with your fastboot commands? Did you flash a kernel/ something else to your recovery partition while you were flashing multiple files at once? I ask becasue I was updating my kernel this morning and noobed up. I flashed my recovery with my kernel.:victory:

Twrp disappears 5.0

I have unlocked boot loader, but when I flash twrp through command prompt it works that one time I boot into recovery from boot loader but afterwards it reverts back to stock recovery. Any help would be appreciated!

Thats what did it for me
If you delete /system/etc/recovery-from-boot.bak (or similar) the recovery should stick also when flashing via fastboot and using TWRP 2.8.1.0

Problem with TWRP

Hi guys.
I installed via flashfi the TWRP on my nexus with android 5, original rom. My bootloader is unlocked.
However, when trying to enter the recovery mode, appears the initial screen of TWRP and simply back into the system. What might be happening? Its fix it? And is to return to the default recovery?
Regards,
I flashed 2.8.1 using fastboot... Try fastboot and see if it works

CM12 to CM11

So I was trying to get back to CM11 from CM12 via fastboot commands. Everything went fine until the "fastboot flash system system.img" command. It gave me an error (screenshot in the attachment). Now I'm stuck with TWRP recovery and fastboot. Can't boot in system. When I reboot the device, it boots and goes into TWRP recovery. I have CM12 backup in my device and on the PC. Can I flash that? Please help guys.

How did you install adb/fastboot? That error usually occurs because of an outdated adb/fastboot version. It's probably safe to restore your backup.

I didn't get the "how did you install adb/fastboot".
I downloaded the latest SDK bro. It's v24.3.3. I even tried the slim SDK. It would be very kind of you if you give me the link to the SDK that would work.

Did you wipe first? You'd need to perform a full wipe before flashing the zip. To do this you go to the Wipe menu in TWRP, then select Advanced Wipe, select system, data, cache, and dalvik cache, and then swipe to wipe.
Is there any reason you chose such an old build?
