[Q] Hangout, where is "all contacts" list after texting once? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I start Hangout, on the left panel I have the list of contacts I was texting with last and on the right panel I have all my contacts. Now if I text to someone, the texting replaces the panel on the right where all the contacts were. How do I get that panel back so I can select another contact?

Setting the default number for a contact

Hi,
Assumming you have multiple numbers assinged to a contact, (home, work mobile etc...) can anyone tell me how to set/change the default number used for a contact in the HTC touch Cruise (Polaris)?
Also, according to the manual when using the TouchFlow Cube to dial a contact there's supposed to be an icon in the top left corner of each contact to tell me which number is currently the default - this isn't appearing in mine. No biggie, just wondering if anyone has it.
Thanks!
Open Contacts, highlight the contact in question and press left/right on the d-pad to cycle through all the numbers you have for them - the one displayed is the default.
exactly what I needed - thanks mate!
and just to answer my own second question!
In order to get the icons to appear in the top left corner of a contacts picture, you need to have added the same contact twice in touchflow. When you add a contact, you have to choose which number to assign. Add a contact twice using a different number and the icons appear to distinguish them.

How to change the default action for a favourite contact

Hi,
I have a little annoying problem. One of the contacts in the favourite list has the default action set to "Send Message" (I'm talking about the little icon just below the photo and name).
The problem is that all (but one) of my favourites have the default action set to Call Contact (the little earpiece icon) except this one.
I want to have every action set to "Call Contact" but I can't find any option where to change it.
It's the only phone number I have for this contact and it is filed under Mobile.
Can anyone help me with this?
scroll down to the contact, then press right or left
I think he is talking about the favourite contacts and not the contacts app. only way i know to do that is to delete the contact and then add them again and you will be able to choose between send message and call

Galaxy S i900 - Delete recent message contacts?

Anyone got any ideas how you can delete the contacts that rack up in your 'recent contacts' list in text messages.
Thank youuuu.
Manually go in and delete each one. I believe by long pressing the screen. I don't totally understand your question so if im wrong please correct me or re-state
I mean when you send a text message the contact you have sent it to will appear in the "recent contacts" drop box, I've tried long holding but nothing seems to happen?
It took me a while to figure this out also but here it is.
The recent list you see under the messaging app is compiled from your history in the contacts app.
So open up contacts. Click over to the history tab. Hit menu and selected Delete. From here check off all the items which involve the number you're trying to remove from Recent and delete them. If you deleted all of the entries, you can click back over to the messaging app and when you go to recent the offending number should be gone. If not go back to the Contacts History tab and be sure you didn't miss an entry.
It's annoying and tedious but it solves your problem. Good Luck.

[Q] Manage notifications individually?

Loving my new Sensation but one frustration is that if I get several notifications (new email, new SMS, app notifications, etc) the only way to clear those badges is to swipe down and then click on each one. I don't necessarily want to check each email as it comes in or care that an app has finished downloading, etc.
Is there a method or app for managing these notifications so that (for example) I can just get rid of a new email notification without having to open the email / Gmail app?
erm have u tried pressing the clear button at the top of the notification bar?

Yeah OK I can do that but it doesn't achieve what I want. What I'm getting at is that I want to clear some and leave others .... I think I read that in Sense 3.5 you can swipe left or right on individual notifications to clear them and this is what I'm after.

[Q] Grey box instead of my pic in messaging

I have tried what worked in the past on other phones, such as adding myself as contact with phone number and pic but nothing is working on my new SG S3. I use handcent SMS and want my picture instead of grey box. Any tips? TIA
from a google search..... said:
In handcent press menu hard key then settings then handcent services and account pic
Click to collapse
Also I guess clicking on the grey box or scolling to the right will get you there?
