[Q] Rotation "in place" App/Launcher? - General Questions and Answers

Does anyone know of an app or a Launcher that will allow for screen rotation, from portrait to landscape and keep icons "in place"?
I dont use landscape because when the switch happens, i always seem to lose icons and what not in the bottom. If the icons themselves simply rotated in place, it would be perfect (dock on the side if applicable, ect).
Problem is, Ive never seen or heard of anything like this and searches just pull up typical rotation apps (as far as i can tell).
Anyone seen anything like this?

Hm...If I remember correctly, I think Apex Launcher has a rotation function.

[REQUEST] [APP] Disable widget "movement" on home screens

I notice a lot that the widgets are very sensitive to touch. Often I'll try scrolling one or pushing something and it "peels off" the widget like I'm trying to move it around on the screen.
This is very frustrating. Is there any way that I can lock them down so they can be used but not moved? Any apps for this? If not, there should be.
Yes we need this!!!!
I haven't been able to find such an app, nor a setting on my phone.
However ..... You can go into accessibility an change the hold delay from short to long.. which should prevent most accidents..

[Q] Screen Orientation Change/Rotation Causes Widgets to Reload

I just had a quick question in regards to screen rotation on the Transformer and wanted to see if everyone else is having the same result.
On my home screen I have both icons and widgets. When I rotate the tablet to go from landscape to portrait, or vice versa, it successfully changes the screen orientation; however, it causes the icons to take a second to reload and the widgets take a bit longer, almost as if they have to "boot up" again. Is this normal for Honeycomb and is everyone else seeing this happen?
The widgets I have that I am referring to in particular are the gmail and mail widgets, alongside the calendar widget.
I am un-rooted and running stock honeycomb with no custom launchers or anything. I just wanted to see if this was normal behavior, or something that only I am experiencing. Thanks.
Yep, it's normal. Mine does it also.

Is there anyway to make the screen rotate like the iPhone?

I like the way the iPhone's rotate in a sense that when you go from landscape to portrait and vice versa, it doesn't make the screen disappear. You can actually see the screen rotate. I'm not sure if I have explained myself correctly, but how can I get my CM7 Sensation to do that anyway?
i dont have any such app...but i got your question correctly... u r looking for a screen rotation animation kind of thing..from portrait to lanscape and vice versa...
in settings you can change your screen animation to always or something of the sort. Make sure you have that ticked. If that does not do what you want.. then you may have to go join the apple cult for that awesome screen animation
Screen rotation animation is only available on sense 3.5 roms. Try them, its exactly what you are looking for (Portrait <=> Landscape)
Haven't seen it on any other rom YET. I'm not sure if it can be ported or not

LauncherPro: auto-rotate in app drawer puts all apps in top left corner

I'm sure this is a common issue but I can't seem to find a way to word it to yield any fruitful search results.
If you enter the app drawer in portrait orientation and then turn your phone to landscape, all the icons overlap in one spot in the top left corner. Returning to portrait puts all the icons back in their correct places. If you are in landscape mode before hitting the app drawer button, the icons draw correctly. Rotating to portrait is also fine, but attempting to go back to landscape creates the same problem.
Is this problem a known one? Is there a fix besides switching launchers (I've tried ADW, ADW Ex, GO Ex, etc., and still vastly prefer LP over all others)?
Report the problem to the developer of the launcher.

[Q] Camera access from lock screen? - EDIT: solved

On my other devices (which run AOSP kitkat roms), I can access my camera with my pattern lock still enabled. All I do is swipe the pattern to the left, and the camera UI opens. It allows me to take new photos, and review them, but doesn't allow me to access any photos that were taken before the screen locked (i.e. it's not a backdoor to get past the lock and look at all my pictures). I always loved this functionality.
On my vzw M8, I cannot replicate this functionality. If I swipe in the same way, I just get a blank page where a widget can be added. Looking through the available widget options, I don't see anything for the camera. I even installed Google Camera just to see if that would make any difference, but no.
I know that the M8's gesture functionality allows something very similar (long-press vol-down while screen is off to launch directly into camera). I'd love to use this, but the gestures are all-or-none. Since I find the other gestures problematic (double-tap to wake, for example), I have all my gestures disabled.
So is there currently a way to replicate the AOSP locked-camera functionality on this device? Or do I simply have to wait for an AOSP rom?
For what it's worth, I'm running Skyfall 1.3
EDIT - story of my life... I figure something out just a few seconds after asking a question, even though I've been trying to figure it out for days.
Turns out I can swipe down (i.e. to hide the pattern lock), which causes the camera icon to appear at the lower-right corner. Then I just need to swipe up on that icon.
Nice work, Byron
Never mind. Didn't read your post close enough I guess. I see you know about the gestures.
