Those with the white backed N5 - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone else keep picking up the phone upside down? Its really very very annoying! So very tempted to paint the white grill (not sure how yet!). Anyone changed the colour of it?

[Q] something rattling inside my transformer!!!!

just been using google skymap and I've noticed there is something rattling inside my transformer!!!!!!
is the back removable? anyone spotted a way something could have got inside? or is it something broken inside?????
its not been dropped or anything ........ and I've only just started noticing the noise .....
you sure it isn't edge creak? if it really is ratteling return it.
not a creak. something moves inside the unit from one end to the other. only started tonight. thing is I have no light bleed no sharp edges ....... don't know if its just something got in through a gap somewhere or something snapped off inside
My opinion would be return it, sure it could be harmless but it's still a faulty product. It could also **** up your device later on or be a sign of more ominous things.
I know you are right .... but I bought it from comet and it took long enough to arrive so god knows how long a replacement will take
and sods law ill get light bleed or gaps or sharp edges next time
ill ring comet tomorrow

If you enable and disable the camera it makes a sound. Try activating camera ....is that the same noise you hear?

I know there are 2 openings right under the LCD itself cover. On the left hand side there is tow half inch hole under the LCD, if you take a piec of paper and insert it at the left hand edge and sort of drag it down...you'll know where the gaps are, but this is too small for anything to go through...maybe these are air vents.
its not the camera. I'm sat here web browsing and if I rotate landscape and portrait it hear something moving.
not sure I follow what you mean about the holes. wondering if something has got in through the keyboard dock points???
It's probably baby teeth. I hear they're good luck.

Or the hamster fell out of the wheel
Sounds like another asus QC story, i wonder what crazy stories will come next?
Good luck with getting it resolved.
Photo cameras have mechanical orientation sensors that are making a noise when going from landscape to portrait but they are very quiet and I doubt they are used in phones and tablets which have accelerometers.
this was something definitely moving about..... ie traveling the length and width of the unit.
its stopped now though so I haven't got a hope in hell of persuading comet that "my unit was rattling, honest! "
don't worry about persuading comet...just give them a call and they'll replace it...
I asked for a replacement yesterday..and I believe the support guy had no idea what a light bleed is, and he tole me parcelforce will come my home with a new TF on Monday..
damn.... after a week of no rattling its started again. I'm convinced its just a fragment of plastic or something and apart from that the unit is perfect .... no light bleed or dead pixels or dust ....
do I risk exchanging?
I wonder how easy it is to get the back off?

You might try a magnet and see if you can move the fragment within the case. Of course, it could use aluminum screws but metal will have more mass than plastic. If it tends to roll easily, I would suspect a metal fragment.

That's a good way to screw up other components inside your device. I wouldnt do that if I were you.
lol, no, i think i will avoid the magnets thanks
.... sent from my shiny new keyboard that arrived this afternoon by the way

[Q] just wondering...

anybody tried to replace the touch-key LED´s themselves??
i mean, we saw the change from white to red but what about, i dunno, green??
/e: following THIS blog, apparantly it is even possible to remove and paint the speaker grill and the ring around the camera lens with not too much effort

White spots on casing of Grey One S

I was just wondering if anyone with a grey one S has noticed white spots on the back of the phone. Looks almost like the covering has been burnt/ or overheated and caused a white spot on the back. Really weird. although because i'm rooted i'm guessing Three UK are unlikely to replace it!

Just run the RUU if you are returning it. As for the white spots Id say bring it back and see if you can get it replaced.
i've run the RUU before but im sure it says its been "tampered" in the bootloader?! I know this is a hardware thing, but will they not look at the software too?! maybe i'll just try!

[Q] Small darkened circle on new TF700

I just got my TF700 and near the top of the screen theres a small circle spot, less than 1 mm in diameter. It seems as if its underneath the glass and cant be wiped off. Its most noticeable when theres a bright background and its darker than its surroundings.
Has anyone else had this happen to their transformer? Is it fixable? Or should I get it exchanged?

I also have something black sandwiched between the glass and screen as well. Drives me crazy when browsing the web since most pages have a white background.
Looks like a small piece of debris got under there during the manufacturing process. Shame because everything else with my infinity is perfect. It's too noticeable to ignore so I'm going to have to swap it out for another.

I might replace mine too, but it doesnt look like its debris. It's just slightly darker than its surroundings.

Capacitive Button Light Shadows on top and bottom of it

Does anyone else have this?
Its the topaz blue S6.
Its really annoying as it kind of suggests your eyes that the lit button is blurry/unsharp ... really unpleasant to look at.

Gold version also has this effect.
Get a front dbrand skin for about $8 from their site!
Does your phone have it, or does every phone in the colors gold and blue topaz have it? The back light color is also not complete white but more beige /dirty white. A little strange because my S2 had a pure white led.

All golds I've seen are like that. I personally like it. The led colour is the same for all. Maybe it's more power efficient.
