Hello,
im looking for an Widget to instantly reboot into second ROM. It used to be an fusion of "Quick Reboot-APP" and the function of STweaks to instantly reboot into the second ROM.
Anyone there who can help me?
Greetings
+1
I know you can go into STweaks and reboot into secondary rom via that or you can set boot to use volume buttons to select which rom to boot, but a widget to boot to other rom would be so much easier

When I select backup Rom in ROM manager, it reboots and i get a screen with an exclamation mark with an android bot. Same thing happens when I try to get into recovery with power on + volume up button.
But when I select reboot in recovery from rom manager it works and i was then able to take a back up from there.
What do i do ? Current and latest clockwork version are same according to rom manager. I updated it twice using ROM manager to make sure its the correct one

Tried it. Nothing happens. Have to take battery out. But I can still access recovery by rebooting in recovery from rom manager
Try installing it from the bootloader.
Name the image file recovery.img
Put it in the android sdk tools folder(or wherever your fastboot.exe is) and run the command -
"Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
Then reboot, it should work.
The android with a "!" is the stock recovery. You don't have to pull the battery at that screen, just press hold power button, then press volume up, you should end up in stock recovery.
In ROM Mgr, FLASH clockwork recovery (twice for good luck, seriously) before trying to boot/backup from ROM Mgr. That should get you going.
The fastboot flash method mentioned above also works.
Part of your issue is that there's a file called /etc/install-recovery.sh that overwrites clockwork recovery with the stock one every time you boot up normally. Rename/delete that file and clockwork will stick after that.

I have found if you to flash Clockworkmod recovery from Rom Manager and you already have the same version, it will remove it all together.
just reboot your phone and run the recovery installer once. Right now, it should be version 3.0.0.5. After you run it. Reboot your phone -> hold power + up (or down don't remember) -> select recovery.
If it is there, you should be able to get to it from the Rom Manager link also.

hi all i have a T-mobile G2X and im trying to root this phone so... i try to flash CWM using NVFLASH and everything goes according to plan but once i try to boot into recovery by pressing both volume up and down buttons nothing happens. Once i flash stock recovery phone boots and everything is back to normal but once i flash either version same thing happens again. I tried searching but couldn't find a solution. So if anyone can help me or point me to the right direction i will appreciate it.
You boot into CWM recovery by holding power + volume down (do not touch volume up). Hold the keys a good 10 seconds and wait for the fancy LG logo. Once you see the fancy LG logo (not plain white) you can let the keys go. You will then boot into CWM. You are just pressing the wrong keys. Don't boot that way into stock recovery as it will do a factory reset on your phone.
I seem to be having the same problem, except that my phone only shows the s/w update screen and wont revert back to the stock recovery when i try. nvflash just leaves my phone on the update screen for hours. it will boot up normal if i pull the battery and put it back in, but it only shows the s/w update screen when i try to boot into recovery. any thoughts?
To boot into Clock Work Mod Recovery, you press and hold the "volume down key" and the "power/sleep" button at the same time.
Hold the buttons all the way through the Lg boot logo. After a short moment, you will see a distinct "purplish" bluish glow to the logo. At that time, release both buttons.
You will boot into Clock Work Mod Recover and ready for flashing
or use the Terminal:
$su
#reboot recovery

This command does not work on the P999. Recovery is not on the standard partition and this command will only reboot the phone. To reboot into recovery (if you have CWM installed on the physical recovery partition and not installed by ROM Manager) you need either Weapon Rom installed, which has this built in or there is an app on the Android Market written specifically for LG 2X/G2X devices that knows where the recovery is installed and can reboot into it. On some G2X (P999) models it says not compatible because of the way LG wrote the build.prop but instead of saying "Ok" which closes the program you simply use the back key to get to the main program screen and it works like a charm.
This app is also preinstalled as a system app on my roms.

Thank You everyone for ur help. Ive figure everything out and im now running MIUI ROM.
Hi Guys,
I have an i9023 running ICS.
I've downloaded the ROM Manager application from the Market to change my kernel. It said I have to flash ClockWorkMod Recovery first. I had it already but I did it as I thought it's not the latest. Flashing was done, it has been rebooted.
Since that I'm unable to boot to recovery or bootloader. Neiter from ROM Manager, nor switching off and choose reboot to recovery. It stucks at Google logo and nothing happens after it.
Also tried to keep the volume buttons pushed while turning my device on, but it boots normally to my ROM.
Any idea? I definitely need a kernel and of course I have to be able to access recovery.
Thank you in advance.
In Rom manager setting, enable erase recovery and then flash again.

You sure you use VOLUME UP + POWER? Other combo's won't work.
Greetz
You can try with Root Explorer to rename install-recovery.sh if there is system/etc/install-recovery.sh...
I stumbled upon this today while messing around inside the stock Android recovery. It should work for you if you've applied the bootstrap:
-Power off if you haven't already
-Hold both volume buttons and the power button until it boots into "Boot Mode Selection Menu"
-Use volume down to scroll to "Recovery"
-Use volume up to boot into the stock android recovery. When you see the Android and the exclamation point, press volume up+down
-Press the power button to select the "Reboot" option.
For some reason it will boot into CWM for you! It's already saved me once today .
tl;dr: Boot into recovery then choose to reboot.
Enjoy!
I tried it. Doesn't work for me.

is this true even if one is stock?
You must have the bootstrap applied in order for this to work.
I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it working for me... but if it's not working for you try
- Apply bootstrap
- Download ROM Manager from Android Market
- Open it and choose to flash a recovery. Choose "Bionic"
- Wait for it to finish then bootstrap recovery again.
Has anyone else gotten this to work or is my phone just weird?

Will try but I wonder if we need to do same things : apply bootstrap and flash Bionic CWM ?
Edit : followed steps on OP and it worked ! But after going to Android Recovery Mode I chose reboot phone boots normally to present ROM. I guess that it will boot into CWM but it doesn't.
didnt work
it did not work for me, but I just went back to stock and started fresh

I think I know why it worked for me. I had been on 2.3.6 but it wasn't completely 2.3.6 - the /system was up-to-date but Webtop, recovery, and some others were 2.3.5. Today I flashed the fxz and then updated with Moto's update.zip and tried again - no workie.
I don't want to flash the fxz atm because I'm working on something big, but if anyone would like to test my theory go ahead.

this is the motorola atrix 2 forum. You need to find the forum for your phone. If there isn't one then post in the Android general or Q&A forums.
