So I just noticed that the wall charger that came with my Nexus 5 makes a quiet buzzing noise when plugged into the wall socket... It does it even when the phone is not plugged into the charger. Does anyone else have this issue??
I find I hear it most clearly when the phone isn't plugged in. But yes, I believe this is normal. Mine does it as well.
mine does the same thing. sadly though that is a sign of non top of the line caps.

Hi everyone.
I have had the original HTC Desktop dock for over two months now. Though i have noticed it makes a high pitch noise when i take the phone out of the dock. Has anyone else noticed this. I may have to get a replacement.
Oh, you may need to be under 25 to hear it becuse it is a very high pitch noise.
Thanks
I've got that from my wall charger. I can hear it at 32 years of age, and I can't hear those stupid ringtones, so it's not too high pitched.
i get that sound from the nexus wall charger, not from the dock....very irritating since it's right next to my ear when sleeping...
but i think it's normal, many other devices make that sound, like my previous nokia wall charger, the other nexus wall charger, and the previous motorola milestone wall charger did
yeah, I get the squeal from the wall charger if it's not connected to the phone. once you plug the phone in, the sound goes away. seems like a cheapo transformer.
its made by every transformer in this universe, nothing like cheapo or expensive there. Some are universal laws
I can confirm its the charger. Though only one of my nexus one chagers does thisthis

So my charger just quits... but not before I hear a little zzzt, zzzt. After that sound coming from the charger box the Xoom no longer charges. Anyone else having the same problem? Oh, and after some time it seems to come around. Totally weird and frustrating.
Your charger is obviously faulty, you might want to return it to motorola.
im suffering charging problems too, although I havnt noticed any funny noises.... but that's not to say they are not there.
Ill plug my xoom in to charge at night, and i see the little charging indicator in the battery display. I go to sleep thinking all is well, but when I wake up it has stopped charging at some random point before being full.
Usually when I do plug it in at night, it does start charging right away, I have to switch off the charger first, then back on and it works.
Is this normal for xoom users, or is my charger also faulty? Its very frustrating
Hey all, after I unplug my phone from the charger, the charger starts to buzz. I can unplug it, and it will continue to buzz for another 30 seconds or so.
Is this normal?
If I recall, the Nexus 4 charger did this as well. I haven't had an issue with mine so far, but I've heard others haven't been so lucky, so take it with a grain of salt. As for the noise itself, it sounds like a capacitor dispersing it's stored charge, it just happens to be a bit noisy in doing so.

Yes, mine too.
It makes the buzz also if the phone isn't connected.. I don't think it's a real issue, but I'd like to know for sure!
Charger is buzzing when you unplug your phone because energy is stored in it, and doesnt have a way to go out. If you unplug charger from a wall, it will start to fade that buzz because it doesnt receive any energy and it can dispers. But its really strange for it to buzz when its connected to phone.. But if it charges normally, no worry.

Curious. I've been charging it through the USB/Electrical outlet charger overnight and have yet to hear a beep.
Also, when I plugged in the micro-USB cable to my USB port the charging indicator went on, but even though I left it overnight it didn't charge. Has this happened to anyone else?

I haven't noticed it beep at all. And that seems a bit odd, have you tried using a different charger/charged anything else on that charger?

Yeah, I don't think it beeps when it gets full which might be an oversight. I've never had a phone not do that before.
As far as charging off the USB port, I was trying to charge off a powered USB hub, and the phone clearly indicated it was charging (even though after leaving it was mostly empty). I'll try charging it off my PC's USB port and see if that works- only thing there is that I have to leave my PC on to charge it though.

I'm the opposite -- I've never had a phone that's beeped when it's fully charged. That would be annoying. The Nexus 5 doesn't beep when it's fully charged. If it did, I would find a way to disable it! It would disturb me at night!

I think the beep when charging is a Samsung thing. I had a Galaxy S2 and S3 and they both did it.
I hated that feature so much! It was the only reason I had to mute my phone at night. I'm pretty sure if I plug in my phone over night it will fully charge, I don't need my phone to wake me up in the night to brag about it!
Hey there,
I've owned three nexus 5's and I just bought a 4th and I notice that the back makes a slight buzzing sound when charging. I know the LG wall chargers make a sound but this is coming from the device itself. Only happens when charging and the phone keeps a good charge so I don't thinks it's a faulty battery.
Sounds like it's coming from the middle to top part of the rear, where the battery connects to the logic board. Could it be a faulty battery, just a transformer or something more serious?
Also I left it charging for 7 hours overnight, no issues.
Thanks in advance
Anyone?
For me it has no noise while charging, but the charger gets very very hot. Pay attention to your device while charging, check if the device or the charger temperature is higher than it was supposed to. For me the charger might get to 70ºC, it almost burns my hand sometimes mainly if charging 2 devices at once.
Have you tried plugging in a headphone to it and see if the noise goes with the audio?

The charger is fine and the buzzing/humming sound isn't coming out of the speaker, it's coming from the rear of the phone itself. Temperatures for phone and charger are normal.
