Acording to the sony Xperia L white paper http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/c2105/whitepaper_EN_c2105_xperia_l.pdf
Its CTIA, the newer standard.

My new phones have arrived!
It works just perfectly. Bass is very good, higher frequencies could be a little bit better, thought.
The button works as it should to answer calls, and play/stop music.
Price is great for the build quality, materials and the general awesome design.

Nice earphones!! There should not be any compatibility issues with our Xperia L

What about Apple Earpods , anyone already tried it on Xperia L ?

which coloud headset?

Hello,
i had asked coloud in the past about the compatibility of their headsets with SONY XPERIA L but they weren't sure if they'll work with Xperia L and that stopped me from buying them. I just saw that they worked for you:good:! Can you tell me the exact model of the coloud headets you buyed and works its microphone and answer/terminate button?
Thanks a lot,
Nick

hey man
Sadly, I cannot recommend the coloud phones to anyone. The right speaker simply degraded in sound quality really fast, to the point I simply couldn't stand using it anymore, so I just shelved it... And after a while the rubber material of the chord also deagraded, turned sticky, horrible. All of that with very light or no use at all.
It could be that I was just very unlucky with the speaker going bad, but the material, if it is still the same one used, is really stupid of a choice as it degrades with time. and as for the button. it should work, depending only on the phone specs.
Im using a moto g 2014 for a year now. I bricked my xperia l xD

Hi, thank you very much for your response,
that's too bad to hear, since they look very nice at photos. I'm disappointed from the fact that is so hard to find a proper handsfree for this device! i thought it would be piece of cake, but it's not... Where are the years that every phone(even the cheap ones) had it's own handsfree in the box?

Bluetooth Stereo Headset

Hi, I was wondering if any of you guys use a bluetooth stereo headset for your G2's because I've been looking for a certain kind. I'm looking for one that is wireless(duh) and it connected by the buds with a wire that's small and similar to the one that came with our phones. So pretty much our stock headphones, just without the cord connecting to the phone. I saw one the other day on a website but I can't find it at all.
Thanks for your time

Check out the Sony's MW600, it does the job quite well for me
It has got some tiny limitations, but its really good, for its price
Not sure if how it will perform with G2, but on DZ is soooooooo cool

I have had great success with Altec Lansing Backbeat 903 and they can be had fairly cheaply. While mine are 1+ years old, Plantronics offers an updated BackBeat 903+. Altec Lansing is owned by Plantronics or vice versa.

I second that recommendation. Those are great headphones especially for working out. If you don't really need bluetooth I've gone to the zagg smartbuds after getting tired of charging my backbeats and my phone from constant Bluetooth use. These just stay around my neck all day and offer everything the backbeats do, just not wireless and better sound quality.
I'm waiting on Bluetooth 3.0 to really make Bluetooth headphones really take off, with better performance overall (sound quality, outdoor performance, and 3.0 is a higher number than 2.1 duh). Have trouble at times outdoors (nothing to bounce off of). So my recommendation is the backbeats or the Cardozo s2's I believe if you aren't married to that form factor.

dont get the zagg smartbuds.... they are a ripoff. just like the rest of their products.
the best buds under $100 are the klipsch image s4's

I actually use a Sony Bluetooth unit that has a standard 1/8" jack and plug my Shure's into that. The little controllers are hard to find now as everyone seems to want to bundle their earphones in with them.

I just found this and it looks really nice, not so sure about the clip though, but I can adapt. It meets the requirements I was looking for. The bluetooth is actually in the small device and the headphones are interchangeable with any one with a 3.5mm jack. I hope that it would come with its own set of headphones because they look really short and that's what I'm looking for. I don't want the hassle of having to untangle headphones after every usage, so I think this might be what I'm looking for. Has anybody else tried this before? I also wonder if it's completely compatible with Android.

These are the MW600 that Wolek76 is talking about in his post above. They are known to work with the Desire Z though some functionality like trackId is not working. I should be getting these for my Desire Z today/tomorrow.
I have been to frys electronics and best buy, and have bought every single one they offer at least once.
Ive tryed at least 20+ and every single one cuts off very often if I am jogging and the phone is in my side pocket.
If anyone has any suggestions be my guest and lmk please haha. Maybe something that makes you hold your phone higher or closer to your ears so the bluetooth connection doesnt break so often.

Yes these are the MW600 which wolek76 recommends, and so do I. Been using them with my Nexus One and now Galaxy S, and love them. The ear buds are very comfortable and have great sound quality, and if you still dont like em you can use any 3.5mm headphones with the unit. You can save 3 devices to use the Bluetooth with (either phone OR your BT-enabled laptop), and switch between them with press of a button. Good battery life and and the controls work with alternative Android music applications like Poweramp as well as Google Listen.
The unit did get stuck on me 3-4 times during my 6-7 months of use, by stuck I mean nothing works and you have to wait till the battery drains and it shuts itself off lol. Its ridiculous that this thing doesnt have a Reset button.
Highly recommend this headset, and cant wait to start using it with my G2 when it arrives next week.

Hi all,
Just wanted to second wolek76's recommendation for the MW600. I've been using them with my Desire Z.
The performance of the bluetooth headset is excellent - especially you you replace the supplied earphones with your own favourites (Denon AH-751s for me )
Only downsides:
No contact name on display (though the callers phone number is displayed)
No track name on display
Other than that they are excellent.
Cheers
Ash

Have you guys used the headphones that came with the bluetooth set? Is the quality of it good, or does it not come with short corded headphones?
Merry xmass everyone
Yes, these come with in-ear buds with three different rubber sizes. Headphones themselves are on a short lead and asymmetric (so that the cable for one ear is shorter, and the other one goes behind the neck)
As someone mentioned earlier, these are removable, so you can use any earfones u wish.
Quality of sound is fine for me, although I'm no expert on that matter....

How would you say the headphones that come with the mw600 compare to the one that comes with the desire z? Better?
Definately better!!!
Original htc ones dont stay in my ears whatsoever. Maybe I got weird ears but never managed to to get any htc earphones make stay in my ears (s740, touchpro2, DZ).
the SE ones actually go 'into' your ear blocking any external noise. Im very happy with that solution, but I know it isnt to everybodys taste/preference.
btw. I got MW600 for my sister...
she's got SE X10 and wanted a FM radio....
will check if these work any better with Android on SE fone (track ID, caller ID)
merry x-mass
Well, even though mw600 and X10 are made by same manufacturer, there is still no caller ID, and no track ID.
This must be definitely android issue then.
Just hope that ginger update with its new 'BlueZ' will help, when it finally lands in our Desires...
Fingers crossed

[Q] Anyone has tried Beyerdynamic MMX-101iE?

Hello everyone,
I found this headset Bayerdynamic MMX 101 iE accidentally just a while ago.
If anyone has tried it, can you please write your review here?
Edit: Is the sound quality good? Microphone quality? Compatibily with Desire?
http://europe.beyerdynamic.com/shop/hah/headphones-and-headsets/sports-and-on-the-way/mmx-101.html
This has caught my eyes since a few day ago but I can not find any reviews at all.
So, any words for this headset will be very appriciated since I need one right now.
Edit: Sorry misstyping by Beyerdynamic , it should be Bayerdynamic

Well...€99 still belongs to the middle class..there are still more with more expensive.
I think the price range between €70-€100 is the correct range for me, more than €100 is a bit too expensive.
Remember you get what you pay.
That type is competely new and there is still no real review available...perhaps I just have to wait for some time until the review is there.

I have found several good ones above €100 but I am not planning to go that high.
It was launched during the musikmesse/music fair just a while ago so..it's kinda new and still without any convincing review.
I will have to wait until there are more review.
Hi Im fairly new to these forums but i can tell you that you cant go wrong with these. I bought these about a week ago and have been nothing short of stunned by the quality. They have great bass and really crisp clear midrange. I would say that these are better than the sennheisers and klipschs s2i that i have.
One thing to note is that make you play around with the earbuds as if you get them wrong they sound really flat and dull so make sure you get them to seal in your ears properly.
It is also a coincidence, yesterday I met some in train on the way home after work.
I asked if I can use it for a couple of minutes in the train, and he said yes.
My review within a few minutes:
1. sound quality is incredible for the price.
2. mic is also good.
3. unfortunately, no volume control or whatsoever except a button to pick up and hang up the call. (not really a big problem, not really in need of a mic and pick up button anyway).
4. metal housing for the ear pieces is awesome.
5. the cable looks extremely fragile to me. it is thin, not braided, etc.
(I am not sure of getting this headset because of this. This is the biggest downside. My current in-ear headphone (Klipsch Image S3) has just given up or lost its life just last night, the cable got broken again. The warranty is still there, but I don't want to claim it for the third time. I just prefer a new one instead of waiting weeks for claiming. It must be something wrong with how I store the headphone in my bag ).
6. Ear plug/bud don't fit my ears perfectly, I have tried on the one attached tho'. (It could be another problem)
I also found Philips SHO9560 (O'Neal stretch). It looks super robust but doesn't have good sound relatively compared to mmx-101i. Its look is also very appealing.
Now, I'm confused.
Way too expensive for me.
For the same price (or cheaper) I would get headphones/earphones from already proven company: Sennheiser.
Update:
Phillips SHO9560 sounds teribble.
MMX101ie doesn't really fit my ear...it comes off often (unless I get the individual package, but it is too expensive)...I don't wanna get an in-ear anymore...getting something which fits my ear is just a matter of luck...
No AKG products fits my huge head size (honest), I like the sound of AKG K518 but it is too small for my head, tried also 430, 420, 520, etc....
This is official! I hate AKG! This company never thinks of people with huge head like me! It is discrimination!
Sony XD300, XD500...sounds dark (bass too strong, trebble not clear)
Dr. Dre Solo HD is too expensive for the quality I am getting.
I will look for some more...Sennheiser, Denon, Bose, etc....
What I hate is that Desire can not really pull Sennheiser PXC450 (I own one at home and I use it mostly during flights or at home)....volume gets too low even on max.
Sh*t it is not easy to find the correct one!
Late response!
I just found this thread after looking into the MMX101 iEs myself - what was your solution in the end? I really like these headphones and fortunately they fit my ears; unfortunately though, the mic and answer button did not work, so I'm having to send them back. Hopefully the replacements will work fine!
Did you settle on over-ear headphones in the end? Given your situation I would have recommended the Sony MDR-V500 - great headphones, excellent range, solid bass response which is punchy but doesn't overwhelm the mid-range, and amazingly cheap considering!
Hope you managed to get this sorted anyway.
I've got these. Nothing short of awesome. The sound quality at all levels is incredibly crisp and you don't use any equaliser settings/tweaks as the ear phones sort all that out for you. Had mine for two years now and need a new set and will definitely buy the same ones again.
Also get 3 pairs of different size buds depending on what suits your ear best.
Someone can confirm the microphone and remote of Beyerdynamic MMX-101 works with android?
Thanks

That does not depend on OS (Android, iOS, Windows). The "problem" is different layout of rings on the 3.5mm connector with different phone manufacturers ("microphone" and "ground" rings are swapped). It's natively compatible with iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Blackberry and HTC. If you want them to work correctly with Nokia, Sony, Samsung, Motorola, LG and other models you have to buy a separate adaptor.
I bought V-Moda M100 in the end.
It is expensive but worth every single penny I spent

Bluetooth headphones

Hello people...
Just thought I'd share.
I bought a pair of Sandstrom bluetooth headphones today from PC World. They were only £30, so I figured that wasn't much of a punt.
I already have a good pair of wired headphones, but constantly opening the flap on the phone annoys me - and is an avenue for dust to enter the chassis.
Anyway... I wasn't expecting much, but I have to say I'm impressed! - The sound quality isn't quite as good as my wired set, but I'm more than happy with the sound for listening to music while out and about (which is when I'm more concerned having the flap open in my pocket).
They also have a built in mic, so you can take calls. And there are music controls.
Have to say - £30 well spent.

My recommend is Sony SBH20 or Sony MW600S. Currently I'm using MW1 and happy with it. But, in your case, I prefer MW600s, it has display so you'll easily find the song you wanna hear.
MW600s comes with 170 mah battery, bluetooth core ver 2.1
SBH20 comes with 110 mah battery, bluetooth core v3.0
Maybe SBH20 provide a better battery management than MW600s,

Hw much costs what?
Hey guys,
Intro: Since our phone is water-resistant and pulling these claps to plug the headphones in 10 times per day is annoying, I am finally ready to consider a bluetooth solution with a mic (which I still do not really trust, but let's give it a shot!). I would like thus to revive this thread, by sharing my thoughts on the subject.
I would strongly advice to check these threads first :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2273429&highlight=bluetooth
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2229347&highlight=bluetooth - Would really love Tom Fagerland to come back and give us an update
My expectations: First, I would like to explain what do I need. In this way, we are not going to argue about a detail when we actually look for different things. You can thus point-out how different your needs are and therefore would like a different headset.
quality: I need a decent one, no more. While on the go, I mostly listen audio books through Ambling Book Player. The music is for home on normal speakers. That's been said, NO MUTANTS CUTS ALLOWED.
in-ear: those are the smallest ones and I really need to be able to put the headphones in a small pocket.
headset battery: I live and sleep with my headphones, I thus need something around 8h of autonomy, (This is why I have not considered bluetooth before, remember the 3h of autonomy max?)
phone battery drain: the use of of Bluetooth headset should not make our XZ deplete in an hour. I'm not a specialist but isn't it strongly linked with BT technology? The newer the better? So for us, BT 3.0 is better than 2.0?
full compatibility with XZ : I would like it to work well with our particular phone. Obviously. I do not plan to change phone for couple of years, so no matter the work with other devices. More, I would hardly bear some functions of the headset which are not working with XZ. Would feel like a waste.
Price: I am not ready to give more than 100 bucks.
Display : Not required. Good if there is one, but not critical
Radio : No need
Sd-card : No need
In addition : general comfort and build quality

Eliminated ones :
LG Tone hbs-700 : does not seem confortable enough, does not fit in a pocket
Samsung BHS3000 : 6 hours autonomy, clip easy to break
Jaybird Bluebuds X: 169$!!! Does it have a mic anyway?
Novero Rockway: 5.5 hours autonomy
....
Main candidates:
Sony SBH20 : seems good overall, but has only 6 hours of autonomy. Confirm?
Sony MW600 and MW600s: First, what is the difference between those two? It seems that they were firstly made for phones likes SE k800i (before android) and not all the functions work properly on android phones. True story?
Sony SBH50 : when to expect the release? What would be the price you think? Something special in comparison with MW1?
Sony MW1: seems a very good one in theory, but has apparently to many possible bugs and dysfunctions. I would give it a try, but I want to be able to give it back if too many bugs happen to occur. I am currently in Belgium and can't find any place to buy it here, even online on sony website!!! If bought abroad on ebay for example I fear that giving it back will be impossible/too complicated
What have I forgot?

I have noticed something interesting. On the sony website, both the SBH20 and SBH50 are advertised in this way : "Go great with : Xperia Z", while XZ is not among perfect partners of MW1. I understand that marketing can sometimes be a strange thing, but isn't there a REAL reason for that?

What do you thing? Any Advice?
I just got a Nokia bh-221 yesterday, I just thought the same, it will be annoying to have to open the flaps every time.
The reason I went to Nokia was because I'm happy with the play 360 speakers.
This headset has a screen, but it just displays the phone number when someone is calling (or the person's name if it is in your contacts) and the battery status.
The quality is good, it has 7h of battery life (haven't been able to test it yet), it comes with a nice decent headphones but you can use every headphone you want.
It also has NFC so you can connect faster, but after the first connection, just make sure the BT on your phone is on before you turn the headset on.
The volume is a bit low, but I think it's a problem with the Z, need to test with the sound addons after rooting.
I noticed a delay in audio when playing video, I will test it tomorrow with a HTC 8X, to see if I get the same latency.

Thanks for sharing, waiting for the test results.
Just to say, these kind of problems (delays, limited screen functions...) are the ones making me reluctant towards buying other than Sony's headphones. Even though it can be a super set on its own, I'm almost sure to find some partial compatibility or even dysfunctions.

Just to say, these kind of problems (delays, limited screen functions...) are the ones making me reluctant towards buying other than Sony's headphones. Even though it can be a super set on its own, I'm almost sure to find some partial compatibility or even dysfunctions.

The screen functions is not a problem, is just a Nokia feature, not showing the music name...
The lags, i just tested on my 8X and I see no lag at all... I had the same problems with another philips BT headset, I think it may be an Android problem... What other OS does is just delay the video also, so both audio and video will stay in sync.
I searched for solutions, and found a lot of people with this problem, but no solution till now.

Sorry for you.
The other people have this problem with exactly the same headset as yours? or with android in general?

No, there are different people with different phones and headset with the same problem... I think the only (android) device i had where BT audio has synced with the video was the Galaxy Nexus.
Choose Headset.
If you want the best available sound quality and a good MIC and the most reliable accessories then stay between MW600 and MW1. i had both of them.
for you both are GREAT! but my MW600 did a lot of restarts all the time! i couldn't update it so i had to get used to it. i don't know about the latest one but before 5 years that's was my experience. my opinion...go get the MW1 with closed eyes :silly:

Thanks, will probably try a WM1. Just wondering if waiting till SBH-50 wouldn't be wiser...
Anyway,
I can't find any retailer selling this in Belgium. Will have to buy it on amazon. Does someone know if it is easy to return the item? I want to try it first. If it's ok I keep it, if not (as for sooooo many users after some research) I want to be able to get my money back.

I think Amazon is our only option.
I've compared the stats from the sbh-50 and the mw1 and it seems that the mw1 will still be better. Guess I'll be waiting for the mw2 if/whenever that comes out.

Hello, man! Did you get your MW1? How is it doing nowadays? I am about to buy two units for my brother and me, and would not want a fiasco, because I have read many comments that the device doesn't work fine with firmware 1.0A.1.6 or so.
Please, tell me, which is the firmware version which is working fine with? Is it 0.1.D.0.6 the device is working perfectly? Do you recommend this headset?
For me this is the most complete and feature packed Bluetooth headset today, I am about to buy it.
Are all its features working in Android 5.1.1?
Please help me! Thank you!

DSEE HX (Sony Xperia Z3) vs Harman/Kardon (HTC One M8)

I just saw this on Sony's site:
In terms of audio, both models (Sony Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact) deliver High-Resolution audio output directly via the headphone jack, and also feature Sony's ground-breaking DSEE HX technology which upscales the fidelity of low-res music files (MP3, AAC) to near High-Resolution quality*4, ensuring that extremely high audio quality can be enjoyed anytime. Furthermore, they both feature digital noise cancelling capability built-in, reducing ambient noise by up to approximately 98%.*5
Can anyone here tell me, how does this compare to what the Harman/Kardon mod (or edition) of the M8 does? Sounds like it does the same thing as what H/K does, but which one does it better? Does DSEE HX also come with ADSP files the way the H/K mod does?? Just wondering.
P.S. I'm not comparing phones here, just options on these phones.
Thanks,

Excellent question. I have no input but would be very intersted in the responses.

Hey augie,
Hopefully we'll find out more soon. Though it sounds like the Z3 and the H/K version of the M8 will be neck and neck. I found out this about the hi-res Sony option:
http://www.totonstv.com/blog/sony-high-resolution-audio/ (at least see last paragraph)
To me it's gonna be really close. I'll prob just stick with my M8, but can't say for sure. The M8 has a slightly sharper screen and better selfie-camera (and is slightly smaller with the curved back & edges, so fits in hand like a glove), but Z3 (flat back with curved edges) has it beat everywhere else. Tough call!! lol
Also interesting: http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/130642-sony-xperia-z3-vs-htc-one-m8-what-s-the-difference
If I didn't have the H/K version of the M8 (regular version + H/K mod lol), it would be Z3 without flinching. But that mod alone took the phone from a B+/A- to an A+. H/K + PowerAmp = Amazing! Then again, Sony is the "bomb.com" when it comes to sound engineering! But you also have to consider that H/K technology is used in Mercedes-Benz and BMW cars. Now you see my dilemma. lol
RockStar2005
I can see the dilemma. I wanted to pick up an M8 H/K but they were only available locked to sprint. Could have went your route and bought an unlocked and modded but had a Z2 and still with it. Thanks for posting the links good info. The improvements in audio reproduction are the main reason I'm upgrading to Z3 when available.

Augie,
I see. How have you liked the Z2? I was DYIN' to get it but T-Mobile never released it and I wasn't really down with buying it unlocked, esp before it was released here in the U.S. officially, which didn't happen until 3-4 months after I'd bought it (couldn't wait forever). The M8 was the next logical choice. In some ways it's better (sound?, screen?), and in some ways it's not (battery, RAM, camera obviously lol, although M8 apparently has the better "selfie camera"). If you use "HDR" mode for the camera on the M8, it actually improves the quality. I've had some compliments on pics taken by it actually.
Yeah...... it was a challenge to get it rooted and S-OFF'd, lemme tell ya! lol I learned a few things. But now I'm pretty much an expert. lol It was worth it though. BoomSound was very good, but H/K is incredible. Yeah, I wasn't about to go get a Sprint phone either. Been there, done that. lol
No problem. Glad you found them to be interesting.
Yeah, I think if I was you I'd prob upgrade too. Plus the Z3 is smaller all around too, which I actually like. It's slightly shorter and thinner (by 2mm), although slightly wider. Also the camera is the same but field of scope has been widened. You can find more here:
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=6144&idPhone2=6539
Battery on Z3 is slightly smaller, yes, but the Z3 is said to be more efficient than the Z2 b/c of the newer processor. FYI.
RockStar2005
The problem I had with sony phones is the low headphone volume compared to even samsung. hope this has changed on the z3 as I was disappointed with the z2.
If i has ill defo be picking up a Z3 in black.
RCJ,
Interesting. Well the Z3 is supposed to have hi-res and DSEE HX (to improve lower-quality mp3s), so I'm gonna assume it will be noticeably better. Did you have/use the special noise-cancelling Sony earphones (http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en.../digital-noise-cancelling-headset-mdr-nc31em/) with the Z2? Since they cancel out most of the outside noise, I'm thinking that would help make the music more louder and clear.
Yeah I'm with you there. Def black for me too (if I actually get it). I have the M8 which is louder according to various reviews, so no issues there.

The one thing i love about HTCs, in headphones they are loud as ****. Sony hasn't been the same since in terms of loudness since the xperia ARC.
Samsung used to be bad with loudness aswell until the s4, the note 3 and s5 they picked it up even more but according to phone arenas amp output measurement the s5 active is the loudest samsung yet with a headphone amp measurement of 0.67 compared to 0.43 for the s5/note 3. Aparently the galaxy alpha is pretty loud too louder than s5/note 3 but PA hasn't done the amp measurement yet.
The s4 was 0.3* can't remember right now and the z1/2 are 0.29. The HTC M8 is 1.2* iirc so you know that thing is loud!!
I wasn't able to use the N/C headphones with the z2 as I tested a shop model in carphone warehouse using my beats mixr headphones (some may say beats are rubbish but I find these headphones to be good for me).
RCJ,
Wow 1.2?! Crazy. Well you make a great case for the M8, that's for sure! Any idea what the same sound rating is for the Z3 though? I'd be really interested to know that if you could somehow find out.
I see, ok. If I actually bought the Z3 I'd be pretty open to getting those N/C earphones as well. Other countries get them included for free, but ughh the U.S. doesn't....... have to buy them separately. Like $40-$50 on Amazon. I have a pretty good pair of V-Moda earphones..... bought them for about $20 (now worth around $30 cuz harder to find). But I'm guess the Sony N/C ones are better. They're made SPECIFICALLY for the Xperia phones and tablets (basically starting with the Z2 I believe).
Lemme know if you find out that Z3 rating though.
Thanks,

The HTC One was probably the best quality sound I've experienced on a phone, both through speakers and headphones, although it was modded full of Sony libs and the Walkman app lol. My iPhone 5s sucks in both areas, IMO, for the headphone part it has more to do with the lack of tweaking available to the sound though, only presets, which are all garbage.
I hope the Z3 sounds good though headphones because I plan on using it for pretty much everything.

If i do get the Z3 it will be my main phone and Note 4 will be my PDA/Tablet/Gaming device.
For me, RCJ's report :good::victory: (lol) that we all hope he will post here on the sound quality rating of the Z3 vs the M8 will make a big difference, although I still can't say for sure that I will switch. Need to know all my pros and cons first. The M8 required rooting and S-OFF to unlock its full potential, and the Z3 prob won't need all of that, but still, it's close. I kinda like having the ViperOne M8 rom from Team Venom. Makes the phone even cooler in some certain ways. I will have to actually HOLD the Z3 in my hand when it's released next month to even have a clue of whether I will get it or not. I have mad love for both phones regardless! lol

Do you think? I can't say it affected me not being S-Off, but then my use and needs may be different to yours ... The only thing I found I needed S-Off for was removing the Tampered flag.

Hey Core,
Yeah for me it did. Like being able to get not only HK, but also Sense 6 Toolbox and also the ViperOne M8 rom as well. I don't know that I needed S-OFF too for those, but certain aspects like being able to flash firmware manually was nice and not possible without S-OFF. It just seems like you can do pretty much anything if you also have S-OFF too.
If anything, I needed S-OFF for HK, and that was my main goal to get that on my phone. Right now I'm looking into Viper4Android, which some have said is even better than HK. I had trouble installing it though earlier today, so we'll see if I can get someone to help with that.
Thank You,

Hey, I'm not even sure which version of the One the M8 is lol, I had the first HTC One if that makes any sense, I didn't need to be S-Off though to flash firmware, only custom firmware and basically stuff not intended for my variant but maybe that's what you are referring to lol ... The whole process for the One seemed overly complex, especially returning to stock, certainly that's my experience compared to other phones. In the end I decided not to bother going S-Off and risking a hard brick as the Tampered flag was the only thing that I'd have needed to change, and seeing that you had to request a boot loader unlocking token in the first place just made it pointless for me lol (being that HTC knew you'd unlocked the boot loader and when by the fact they issued an unlock token, making removing the flag pointless, for warranty purposes at least)
Restoring is thankfully a little easier on Sony phones, not that it was particularly hard on the One, just more complex and more understanding of adb etc needed, at least if you wanted to mod things like I did. My dilemma now is which phone to get, the Z3 or the Z3 Compact ... I really need to feel them both in the hand to decide which is right I think.
Hey Core,
The HTC One was the M7, which came out last year. The current one which was released back in April I believe is the M8.
Yeah I've seen posts on here where ppl say don't flash firmware or stuff like H/K unless you're S-OFF. In order to get the ADSP files (which further enhance the sound) that come with the full version of the H/K mod, S-OFF was necessary. It took some effort on my part to get that, but eventually I did using Firewater. Just have to remember NOT to use the USB 3.0 port on your pc (that is what I initially did, which was unintended), and of course to not install an OTA while on a custom recovery and not yet rooted. The USB 3.0 rule applies more to the S-OFF, but more the rooting too. The minute I figured that out I tried it (S-OFF) again and it actually worked.
I see. What's the process for restoring on the Sony phones? I mean, does it still involve TWRP? Unlocking bootloader? Just a quick summary would be nice as now you've caught my interest. lol
Yeah I really love BOTH the M8 (at least the unlocked/rooted/S-OFF version lol) and the Xperia Z2 and Z3 phones. For me it would def be the Z3 not Z3 Compact, but that's me. When the Z3 comes out next month, I will be stopping over at T-Mobile to check it out. Right now I'm prob not gonna switch, but like you, once I feel it in my hand, I may change my mind. Initially, I wanted the Z2 very much so. It was the first smartphone I ever actually went "nuts" for. lol But that whole Z2 release was a big screw-up on Sony's part. It came out to the states like 5 months after it was supposed to, and ONLY available carrier-unlocked?? I wasn't interested in paying full price for a phone I may not even keep for 2 years. With the sound improvements that Z3 has been confirmed to have (hi-res and DSEE HX, which makes low-res mp3s sound better, and the brighter screen), I'm glad I didn't get the Z2, now. lol

[Q] Sony Xperia Z3 headset

Hi,
I'm looking for a god headset that satisfy me. My first prob is that the thread is knotted. I'm looking for somethings that ca n avoid this problem.
I want use headset, because I think that using phone attached to head is not safe (for me). So I would avoid any kind of micro waves, around my head.
Where can I look for it?
TIA
Renato
I have the Xiaomi Piston 2, which you can find on Amazon for ~$25. Be aware that there are fakes, so don't buy anything less than $22 (I personally got mine from "Robert's super store" a month or so ago; look at reviews for reputable sellers).
All of the controls work properly on the Z3 - volume, middle click (single click for pause, double click to skip, hold to voice dial). Sound quality is quite good for the price. The mic is passable, nothing special.
I use an MEElectronics M-Duo its about $50 now, but as good as many $100+. Its very durable and can take some abuse.

I am using sony sbh 52 and it is very good for a decent music lover. only downside is its price is a bit high
I'm using the Triplefi 10vi 3 armature earphones I've had for a few years. The sound is noticeably improved compared to my GS3. This phone has a high quality sound chip. I know there are a few different manufacturers that make good audio processors for smartphones and would be interested in knowing what Sony uses on the Z3/Z3v. It could be their own too since they fabricate about everything besides the cpu.
Sony XBA-H1
Just don't get the overpriced Bose IE2, which started losing the rubberized covering of the wires in less than 6 months for me and audio sucked, compared to my M-Duo.
