Hello people...
Just thought I'd share.
I bought a pair of Sandstrom bluetooth headphones today from PC World. They were only £30, so I figured that wasn't much of a punt.
I already have a good pair of wired headphones, but constantly opening the flap on the phone annoys me - and is an avenue for dust to enter the chassis.
Anyway... I wasn't expecting much, but I have to say I'm impressed! - The sound quality isn't quite as good as my wired set, but I'm more than happy with the sound for listening to music while out and about (which is when I'm more concerned having the flap open in my pocket).
They also have a built in mic, so you can take calls. And there are music controls.
Have to say - £30 well spent.

My recommend is Sony SBH20 or Sony MW600S. Currently I'm using MW1 and happy with it. But, in your case, I prefer MW600s, it has display so you'll easily find the song you wanna hear.
MW600s comes with 170 mah battery, bluetooth core ver 2.1
SBH20 comes with 110 mah battery, bluetooth core v3.0
Maybe SBH20 provide a better battery management than MW600s,

Hey guys,
Intro: Since our phone is water-resistant and pulling these claps to plug the headphones in 10 times per day is annoying, I am finally ready to consider a bluetooth solution with a mic (which I still do not really trust, but let's give it a shot!). I would like thus to revive this thread, by sharing my thoughts on the subject.
I would strongly advice to check these threads first :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2273429&highlight=bluetooth
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2229347&highlight=bluetooth - Would really love Tom Fagerland to come back and give us an update
My expectations: First, I would like to explain what do I need. In this way, we are not going to argue about a detail when we actually look for different things. You can thus point-out how different your needs are and therefore would like a different headset.
quality: I need a decent one, no more. While on the go, I mostly listen audio books through Ambling Book Player. The music is for home on normal speakers. That's been said, NO MUTANTS CUTS ALLOWED.
in-ear: those are the smallest ones and I really need to be able to put the headphones in a small pocket.
headset battery: I live and sleep with my headphones, I thus need something around 8h of autonomy, (This is why I have not considered bluetooth before, remember the 3h of autonomy max?)
phone battery drain: the use of of Bluetooth headset should not make our XZ deplete in an hour. I'm not a specialist but isn't it strongly linked with BT technology? The newer the better? So for us, BT 3.0 is better than 2.0?
full compatibility with XZ : I would like it to work well with our particular phone. Obviously. I do not plan to change phone for couple of years, so no matter the work with other devices. More, I would hardly bear some functions of the headset which are not working with XZ. Would feel like a waste.
Price: I am not ready to give more than 100 bucks.
Display : Not required. Good if there is one, but not critical
Radio : No need
Sd-card : No need
In addition : general comfort and build quality
Eliminated ones :
LG Tone hbs-700 : does not seem confortable enough, does not fit in a pocket
Samsung BHS3000 : 6 hours autonomy, clip easy to break
Jaybird Bluebuds X: 169$!!! Does it have a mic anyway?
Novero Rockway: 5.5 hours autonomy
....
Main candidates:
Sony SBH20 : seems good overall, but has only 6 hours of autonomy. Confirm?
Sony MW600 and MW600s: First, what is the difference between those two? It seems that they were firstly made for phones likes SE k800i (before android) and not all the functions work properly on android phones. True story?
Sony SBH50 : when to expect the release? What would be the price you think? Something special in comparison with MW1?
Sony MW1: seems a very good one in theory, but has apparently to many possible bugs and dysfunctions. I would give it a try, but I want to be able to give it back if too many bugs happen to occur. I am currently in Belgium and can't find any place to buy it here, even online on sony website!!! If bought abroad on ebay for example I fear that giving it back will be impossible/too complicated
What have I forgot?
I have noticed something interesting. On the sony website, both the SBH20 and SBH50 are advertised in this way : "Go great with : Xperia Z", while XZ is not among perfect partners of MW1. I understand that marketing can sometimes be a strange thing, but isn't there a REAL reason for that?

I just got a Nokia bh-221 yesterday, I just thought the same, it will be annoying to have to open the flaps every time.
The reason I went to Nokia was because I'm happy with the play 360 speakers.
This headset has a screen, but it just displays the phone number when someone is calling (or the person's name if it is in your contacts) and the battery status.
The quality is good, it has 7h of battery life (haven't been able to test it yet), it comes with a nice decent headphones but you can use every headphone you want.
It also has NFC so you can connect faster, but after the first connection, just make sure the BT on your phone is on before you turn the headset on.
The volume is a bit low, but I think it's a problem with the Z, need to test with the sound addons after rooting.
I noticed a delay in audio when playing video, I will test it tomorrow with a HTC 8X, to see if I get the same latency.

Thanks for sharing, waiting for the test results.
Just to say, these kind of problems (delays, limited screen functions...) are the ones making me reluctant towards buying other than Sony's headphones. Even though it can be a super set on its own, I'm almost sure to find some partial compatibility or even dysfunctions.

The screen functions is not a problem, is just a Nokia feature, not showing the music name...
The lags, i just tested on my 8X and I see no lag at all... I had the same problems with another philips BT headset, I think it may be an Android problem... What other OS does is just delay the video also, so both audio and video will stay in sync.
I searched for solutions, and found a lot of people with this problem, but no solution till now.

No, there are different people with different phones and headset with the same problem... I think the only (android) device i had where BT audio has synced with the video was the Galaxy Nexus.
Choose Headset.
If you want the best available sound quality and a good MIC and the most reliable accessories then stay between MW600 and MW1. i had both of them.
for you both are GREAT! but my MW600 did a lot of restarts all the time! i couldn't update it so i had to get used to it. i don't know about the latest one but before 5 years that's was my experience. my opinion...go get the MW1 with closed eyes :silly:

Thanks, will probably try a WM1. Just wondering if waiting till SBH-50 wouldn't be wiser...
Anyway,
I can't find any retailer selling this in Belgium. Will have to buy it on amazon. Does someone know if it is easy to return the item? I want to try it first. If it's ok I keep it, if not (as for sooooo many users after some research) I want to be able to get my money back.

I think Amazon is our only option.
I've compared the stats from the sbh-50 and the mw1 and it seems that the mw1 will still be better. Guess I'll be waiting for the mw2 if/whenever that comes out.

Hello, man! Did you get your MW1? How is it doing nowadays? I am about to buy two units for my brother and me, and would not want a fiasco, because I have read many comments that the device doesn't work fine with firmware 1.0A.1.6 or so.
Please, tell me, which is the firmware version which is working fine with? Is it 0.1.D.0.6 the device is working perfectly? Do you recommend this headset?
For me this is the most complete and feature packed Bluetooth headset today, I am about to buy it.
Are all its features working in Android 5.1.1?
Please help me! Thank you!

After quite a bit of research into which headsets were the most comfortable, had the best sound quality and decent autonomy I chose the Sony DRBT50, found a seller on Ebay and ordered them...
Now, to make a long story a little shorter let's just say that they seem to have gotten lost somewhere between here and Germany and I'm going to be given a refund (thank [insert your divinity here] I took the insurance) and the seller has told me that if he was in my shoes, he wouldn't buy a Bluetooth headset as they don't offer anywhere near the same sound quality as a decent wired pair...
He admitted to only having tried them with Bluetooth dongles and not devices with built-in Bluetooth like the Diamond so (here comes my question) has anyone here had any experience with these headphones in particular or any information about Bluetooth headsets in general to share with me? If you don't think that Bluetooth can provide good sound dynamics which are the best wired headphones in a similar price range (around 150)?
Thanks
---I know that some people have problems with music skipping even with wired headphones but I thankfully don't have this problem (so I don't need warning about this issue)---

I am a bluetooth stereo junkie and I have bought a lot of sony erricson bluetooth stereo.I liked DRBT50 on pics, but when I used them I felt they are really very heavy and I dint like them.Out of lot of stereos I bought, I think the best one I though is DRBT22 , which is lightweight and absolutely nice stereo.I have also used DS980, but for some reason , I just have them packed.Even those stereo sound is also good, but the battery life is only 4/5 hrs, so you have to recharge them regularly. But DRBT22 bass and trebles are really good and I like them , and also the battery life is 10 hrs which is very good. I suggest you for DS980 or DRBT22 depending on what you like.Similar to BT22, there is also DRBT21, which looks good , as you can wear from behind the neck, but I havent tried those.

I never got round to answering this...
After over a month I actually ended up receiving the headset.
The battery life is amazing and the reception's pretty good too. I can easily go about ten fifteen meters away from my phone without the signal starting to break up. Basses are good but the mids are a little lacking. The cups have a lot of padding so they're quite comfortable but not perfect as they are much smaller than I'd imagined (no I don't have big ears).
Overall, it's a decent headset that I can happily wear when taking the dog for a walk but I wouldn't recommend them to an audiophile.
If anyone wants any more details about the headset feel free to ask.

Hi, I was wondering if any of you guys use a bluetooth stereo headset for your G2's because I've been looking for a certain kind. I'm looking for one that is wireless(duh) and it connected by the buds with a wire that's small and similar to the one that came with our phones. So pretty much our stock headphones, just without the cord connecting to the phone. I saw one the other day on a website but I can't find it at all.
Thanks for your time

I second that recommendation. Those are great headphones especially for working out. If you don't really need bluetooth I've gone to the zagg smartbuds after getting tired of charging my backbeats and my phone from constant Bluetooth use. These just stay around my neck all day and offer everything the backbeats do, just not wireless and better sound quality.
I'm waiting on Bluetooth 3.0 to really make Bluetooth headphones really take off, with better performance overall (sound quality, outdoor performance, and 3.0 is a higher number than 2.1 duh). Have trouble at times outdoors (nothing to bounce off of). So my recommendation is the backbeats or the Cardozo s2's I believe if you aren't married to that form factor.

I just found this and it looks really nice, not so sure about the clip though, but I can adapt. It meets the requirements I was looking for. The bluetooth is actually in the small device and the headphones are interchangeable with any one with a 3.5mm jack. I hope that it would come with its own set of headphones because they look really short and that's what I'm looking for. I don't want the hassle of having to untangle headphones after every usage, so I think this might be what I'm looking for. Has anybody else tried this before? I also wonder if it's completely compatible with Android.

These are the MW600 that Wolek76 is talking about in his post above. They are known to work with the Desire Z though some functionality like trackId is not working. I should be getting these for my Desire Z today/tomorrow.
I have been to frys electronics and best buy, and have bought every single one they offer at least once.
Ive tryed at least 20+ and every single one cuts off very often if I am jogging and the phone is in my side pocket.
If anyone has any suggestions be my guest and lmk please haha. Maybe something that makes you hold your phone higher or closer to your ears so the bluetooth connection doesnt break so often.

Yes these are the MW600 which wolek76 recommends, and so do I. Been using them with my Nexus One and now Galaxy S, and love them. The ear buds are very comfortable and have great sound quality, and if you still dont like em you can use any 3.5mm headphones with the unit. You can save 3 devices to use the Bluetooth with (either phone OR your BT-enabled laptop), and switch between them with press of a button. Good battery life and and the controls work with alternative Android music applications like Poweramp as well as Google Listen.
The unit did get stuck on me 3-4 times during my 6-7 months of use, by stuck I mean nothing works and you have to wait till the battery drains and it shuts itself off lol. Its ridiculous that this thing doesnt have a Reset button.
Highly recommend this headset, and cant wait to start using it with my G2 when it arrives next week.

Hi all,
Just wanted to second wolek76's recommendation for the MW600. I've been using them with my Desire Z.
The performance of the bluetooth headset is excellent - especially you you replace the supplied earphones with your own favourites (Denon AH-751s for me )
Only downsides:
No contact name on display (though the callers phone number is displayed)
No track name on display
Other than that they are excellent.
Cheers

Have you guys used the headphones that came with the bluetooth set? Is the quality of it good, or does it not come with short corded headphones?
Merry xmass everyone
Yes, these come with in-ear buds with three different rubber sizes. Headphones themselves are on a short lead and asymmetric (so that the cable for one ear is shorter, and the other one goes behind the neck)
As someone mentioned earlier, these are removable, so you can use any earfones u wish.
Quality of sound is fine for me, although I'm no expert on that matter....

How would you say the headphones that come with the mw600 compare to the one that comes with the desire z? Better?
Definately better!!!
Original htc ones dont stay in my ears whatsoever. Maybe I got weird ears but never managed to to get any htc earphones make stay in my ears (s740, touchpro2, DZ).
the SE ones actually go 'into' your ear blocking any external noise. Im very happy with that solution, but I know it isnt to everybodys taste/preference.
btw. I got MW600 for my sister...
she's got SE X10 and wanted a FM radio....
will check if these work any better with Android on SE fone (track ID, caller ID)
merry x-mass
Well, even though mw600 and X10 are made by same manufacturer, there is still no caller ID, and no track ID.
This must be definitely android issue then.
Just hope that ginger update with its new 'BlueZ' will help, when it finally lands in our Desires...
Fingers crossed

Well...€99 still belongs to the middle class..there are still more with more expensive.
I think the price range between €70-€100 is the correct range for me, more than €100 is a bit too expensive.
Remember you get what you pay.
That type is competely new and there is still no real review available...perhaps I just have to wait for some time until the review is there.

I have found several good ones above €100 but I am not planning to go that high.
It was launched during the musikmesse/music fair just a while ago so..it's kinda new and still without any convincing review.
I will have to wait until there are more review.
Hi Im fairly new to these forums but i can tell you that you cant go wrong with these. I bought these about a week ago and have been nothing short of stunned by the quality. They have great bass and really crisp clear midrange. I would say that these are better than the sennheisers and klipschs s2i that i have.
One thing to note is that make you play around with the earbuds as if you get them wrong they sound really flat and dull so make sure you get them to seal in your ears properly.
It is also a coincidence, yesterday I met some in train on the way home after work.
I asked if I can use it for a couple of minutes in the train, and he said yes.
My review within a few minutes:
1. sound quality is incredible for the price.
2. mic is also good.
3. unfortunately, no volume control or whatsoever except a button to pick up and hang up the call. (not really a big problem, not really in need of a mic and pick up button anyway).
4. metal housing for the ear pieces is awesome.
5. the cable looks extremely fragile to me. it is thin, not braided, etc.
(I am not sure of getting this headset because of this. This is the biggest downside. My current in-ear headphone (Klipsch Image S3) has just given up or lost its life just last night, the cable got broken again. The warranty is still there, but I don't want to claim it for the third time. I just prefer a new one instead of waiting weeks for claiming. It must be something wrong with how I store the headphone in my bag ).
6. Ear plug/bud don't fit my ears perfectly, I have tried on the one attached tho'. (It could be another problem)
I also found Philips SHO9560 (O'Neal stretch). It looks super robust but doesn't have good sound relatively compared to mmx-101i. Its look is also very appealing.
Now, I'm confused.
Way too expensive for me.
For the same price (or cheaper) I would get headphones/earphones from already proven company: Sennheiser.
Update:
Phillips SHO9560 sounds teribble.
MMX101ie doesn't really fit my ear...it comes off often (unless I get the individual package, but it is too expensive)...I don't wanna get an in-ear anymore...getting something which fits my ear is just a matter of luck...
No AKG products fits my huge head size (honest), I like the sound of AKG K518 but it is too small for my head, tried also 430, 420, 520, etc....
This is official! I hate AKG! This company never thinks of people with huge head like me! It is discrimination!
Sony XD300, XD500...sounds dark (bass too strong, trebble not clear)
Dr. Dre Solo HD is too expensive for the quality I am getting.
I will look for some more...Sennheiser, Denon, Bose, etc....
What I hate is that Desire can not really pull Sennheiser PXC450 (I own one at home and I use it mostly during flights or at home)....volume gets too low even on max.
Sh*t it is not easy to find the correct one!
Late response!
I just found this thread after looking into the MMX101 iEs myself - what was your solution in the end? I really like these headphones and fortunately they fit my ears; unfortunately though, the mic and answer button did not work, so I'm having to send them back. Hopefully the replacements will work fine!
Did you settle on over-ear headphones in the end? Given your situation I would have recommended the Sony MDR-V500 - great headphones, excellent range, solid bass response which is punchy but doesn't overwhelm the mid-range, and amazingly cheap considering!
Hope you managed to get this sorted anyway.
I've got these. Nothing short of awesome. The sound quality at all levels is incredibly crisp and you don't use any equaliser settings/tweaks as the ear phones sort all that out for you. Had mine for two years now and need a new set and will definitely buy the same ones again.
Also get 3 pairs of different size buds depending on what suits your ear best.
Someone can confirm the microphone and remote of Beyerdynamic MMX-101 works with android?
Thanks

That does not depend on OS (Android, iOS, Windows). The "problem" is different layout of rings on the 3.5mm connector with different phone manufacturers ("microphone" and "ground" rings are swapped). It's natively compatible with iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Blackberry and HTC. If you want them to work correctly with Nokia, Sony, Samsung, Motorola, LG and other models you have to buy a separate adaptor.
I bought V-Moda M100 in the end.
It is expensive but worth every single penny I spent

can anyone recommand me music bluetooth???mainly for outdoor activities
anyway, i saw mw600 threads around and kinda interested with it
any comments about mw600 on desire? thx
i got the mw600 last week and i'm really enjoying it.
connectivity between the desire and this device is excellent. i haven't had any kind of skipping even if i'm running outside.
the sound quality is good and if you don't like the sound quality, just swap headphones. swappable headphones are great because if your headphones crap out, you can replace them for a low cost.
the clip seems sturdy enough. but remember i only got it last week...
the battery life is great but i haven't fully discharge it yet (i don't plan to; that's not good for the Li ion battery)
i haven't had enough calls with it to say how good the microphone is...
I don't like the volume slider on the MW600....but the rest is great. battery is top notch too.
So far I like it. The only thing which is really annoying on MW600 for me is, when I disconnect a headset, the sound is not available on the phone, I cannot hear anyone, nor anyone can hear me. This might be ROM related (MIUI XJ GB), but not for sure.

I run CM7.0.2.1 and i don't have this problem
the mw600 headset is excellent
Do you think that this could be velcroed into the chin/mouth section of a helmet, and used as a bluetooth microphone and music listener?

maybe? but it comes with a clip so maybe you don't need to velcro it (then again you can try some DIY hacks and put velcro on the clip)

I have that headset too! its really nice. Problem is my foam is already broken and i cannot find any replacement. MW600 is nice too.. this device have this profiling mode (1 pc / 2 cellphones) problem is you need to buy a good headset. in other words you have to spend another $100 bucks for a good headset (sennheiser cx 95)
Im just sharing my experiences with bluetooth headsets.
Looking at buying a set of external speakers to play Pandora on with my G2. I don't want anything that's compatible with iPods, because I don't need that stupid dock connector. Hopefully I can get something that's less than $100, has great sound, and connects to the 3.5 mm headphone jack on the G2.
Any suggestions?
Its not the prettiest, but any pair of computer speakers will do the job for cheap. I use an old 2.1 Logitech system that has a sub and the sound is great!
Thinkgeek.com has a decent protable speaker setup. There is also a Sony branded tube speaker that is supposed to be good also. Seen em on ebay.

Agreed. I believe you can get a decent set of Comp speakers at Walmart. If not there definitely Frys.
I'm currently using an older pair of computer speakers that has a sub-woofer and it works great. However, it's not the prettiest thing to look at, nor is it even remotely portable in the event I want to take them somewhere with me. Thanks so far for the suggestions, if I find something that works well I'll share it with everyone here.

this may not be what you are looking for but I have this in my backpack at all times. I use it maybe once every 2 or 3 days... Sucker it pretty loud and lasts a long time. Had it for about a year now, I'm sure you could find one on ebay for 10 bucks.
I couldn't pass up this opportunity. For anyone looking at this at a future date (considering the date of this topic already), looking for a top-notch quality external speaker for the G2 (or any other Android device at that) the X-Mini II Capsule Speaker has served me well. It provides more sound than you'd ever be able to get out of the phone, and it's really worth the money you spend on it compared to some of the other suggestions listed (such as computer speakers, which wouldn't be practical).
I reccomend the Supertooth disco --> http://www.supertooth.net/EN/DISCO/#page=page-1 It has great sound and the battery can last up to 10 hours if you let it play on medium sound. Its worth the money the sound is great and its easy to bring with you if you're going to some friends for example.

I would have to Second the X-mini 2's the sound you get from them is superb and the ability to buddy jack them is a feature that is often missed on many models
Just heard one of those new Bluetooth speakers they carry at best buy and they sound amazing. Much better than a boombox even lol. Anyways they run for about 50 bucks and they have their own rechargeable battery built in. They use micro USB to charge to so you can use the same setup you already have. I'm gonna get one you have to hear them to believe it.
bluetooth/minijack jambox set, do the work greatly.
it also have mic for conference mode.
tested with my rom, works perfectly
