SW2 and Nexus 5 + KitKat 4.4 compatibility - Sony Smartwatch

Hi guys,
I would like to know if Sony Smartwatch 2 is totally compatible with the Nexus 5 before buy it! I don't know if someone here are in the same situation.
Searching in the forum, I've seen an opinion with succesfull results but I prefer to read more than one . Also I read a Bluetooth problem (it drops and reconnects every few minutes).
Thanks a lot.

Thanks for your feedback. What about notifications (SMS, Calls, Email/Gmail, Whatsapp, LINE, Twitter, Facebook, etc...)? Hope it works great too

I checked all kind of notification (Facebook, mail, twitter, calls...) before installing augmented SmartWatch pro and all worked correctly. But I only use augmented for all notifications now.

I use the Nexus 5 with the SW2 and Watch it. It works perfect a well.

Working ok for me except for the Music player... (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2516313 )
Tryed with augmented watch, can't skip songs on Google Music too with Augmented Watch...

Seems to be working okay. The Sony authored Messaging Smart Extension still shows SMS even though they are now displayed inside Hangouts.
I'm using WatchIt! now to capture all other notifications and pushing them to the device. Seems to work great so far.

see user guide for SW2 and augmented http://augmentedtraffic.wordpress.c...martwatch-pro-for-the-sony-sw2-finally-ready/
for google music open preferred music apps to "register" then you should be able to skip.

I will try again, but I really think there is an issue with KitKat (or nexus 5) and a lot of functionnalities, as I saw the currently playing song, but skip button were not working.

Ok so it works, great thanks!

Having trouble getting my SW2 to connect to my N5. Worked/works fine with my N4. Tried the NFC method first, and I get a toast saying 'Smartwact 2 Connected' but then nothing happens. Tried connecting manually and it doesn't show up at a bluetooth device (other devices do show up).

Sorry for late reply. I think on the Nexus 5, I doesn't show up as connected, as it's using Bluetooth Low Power mode. Fitbit devices do the same. Look on your watch and it should have changed the bluetooth logo to bright white, from grey.

For those looking for decent music control on KitKat, try this redditors extension, works GREAT for me. But, you can also use remote widget (read more here) and use the Play Store widget or PowerAmp widget or whatever you want.

If you want a music app for SW2 and you have a KitKat, then try SmartMote

Nope, was still disconnected, thanks though.
Sorted now, needed to un-install and re-install the Sony Connect app from the phone.

SW2 Notifications

Hi All,
I have had a Smartwatch2 for a week now, and noticed that over the last few days I no longer get any twitter @ replies or mentions pushed to the watch (using the Sony Smart Accessory). Also when managing the twitter preferences I experience a lot of FC's (could be due to the number of followers etc?).
My question is , how is everyone else handing notifications , using the individual plugins , or a third party app (i tried Watchit , but nothing ever got pushed).
Cheers

I've been using watchit! both with the smartwatch 1 and 2... works great once you tweak it. remember you have to enable it in accessibility like the instructions indicate, otherwise it will not work.

Cheers - do you use any of the sony watchapps , or just let watchit control all the notifications you want?
It will be great if the notification counter would be visible on the digital clock in standby.
So i don't press button to control notifications.
This is a very good suggestion, a functionality that I don't think should be too hard for Sony to provide.
Re: Sw2 Notification
I also using this smartwatch, i also want this fuctionality on my smartch watch... Thanks for suggesstions
Watchit also works perfectly on my SW2
Watchit FTW. Don't waist your money on the other paid apps(unless you want to), Watchit is awesome.

+1 to WatchNotifier.
Its a paid App, but i like it much more.
I tried watchit, but i must disable the Message Information for every App manuelly. I will only get notifications from whattsapp. So i must disable 200 Apps!
Then i tried WatchNotifier and there i have an option to disable all Apps at once! Great, fast, stable and no problems. And 1,49 Euro are not much money.

Yeah! Watchit is really good and free! I turned off all apps notifications by default and only had to select one by one those I wanted to be notified. And it's awesome. The only thing I miss is to be able to get rid of the default notification app of the sw2 ?

Lol you really came to XDA to ask if you can talk through the watch ... ???
1) .. im not aware of a specific Slacker app ..
2) you can initiate calls/ reject calls on the watch but you CANNOT talk through the watch - there is no speaker /mic
3) You can read and reply to texts .. with canned responses .. although there might be an app that will let you send custom messages from the watch.
is the Gear a standalone phone or do you need a Samsung galaxy to use it?

if the microphone is a must, you might want to check out the HOT smartwatch by PHTL
it was a kickstarter project, but you can preorder here in a couple of days
there is no slacker extension (yet) for this watch
you can read texts, facebook posts, tweets, mail and gmail
those are all free extensions from Sony
there is a whatsapp extension, but not by Sony and isn't free, but works well
if you're not in a hurry to buy, i'd hold out on this watch (sorry to say), i think the firmware needs some work for this watch to be a real success
(like more/custom watch faces, selectable timeout)
Evernote can run on Sony sw 2? Thanks! Daniele
Inviato dal mio Nexus 4 utilizzando Tapatalk
As long as you have any kind of headset attached to the phone it is paired with, you can initiate calls from the watch. You can end the call too, so there is no need to get the phone out of your pocket.
Text message replies can be done, be they have to be pre-setup in the phone.
There is a paid app that allows you to compose SMS messages on the watch, but it's a bit awkward as it uses the old T9 keyboard. As in for the letter C you press number 2 three times. It works - just.
Not sure about the App in your first question, but my experience of the music apps on the watch have been bad so far. It's skips tracks and adjusts volume etc, but not instantly and the bluetooth lag is a little bit annoying. Better to use a headphone set with a skip button.

No low power mode, but Google My Tracks combined with My Tracks for Smartwatch has an "always on" feature.

Can you tell me a bit about google tracks? How does it compare to runtastic and are they even apps for the same purpose or what? I tried to find much info.

Similar but more basic. Set up a profile, it tracks via GPS and gives speed, distance, time, pace etc. like Runtastic, and the watch can be configured to stay on and show speed, time and distance, stop and start. On the phone plays back nicely on Google Earth.
Uploads automatically to Google Drive, but if you want to share on Facebook just gives a link rather than map and stats, and clicking the link only shows the map not the stats. All available on the phone though.
I got in touch with the developer of AeroTrackerPro for Pebble and he said he'd have a look, but no promises.

You can also get MyTracks on the watch with Watch My Tracks, again keeps the watch on but no low power. And can get better sharing via Strava and My Tracks Uploader.
Another option is to use remote widget with google my tracks, this way you get low power+always on
Shame that runtastic or nike apps doesnt have any real time widget

What I mean is to maintain the phone out of the deep sleep mode (set the config of the widget in device power on to CPU only mode). You will only notice that battery will be drained a little bit faster when monitoring the widget in real time at your wrist (what is normal)
What I use is endomondo with remote widget. I put the endomondo widget on remote widget and activate low battery mode. The bad thing is that you can see only one of the three info that real widget would provide on the phone due to the small screen of the watch. So I use it to see just the hr monitor.
Because distance and duration are told me earphones
Oh and it does work all the time, doesn't stop at all. You see life info

Bit late to the party but am in the process of making my own gps tracker work with SMW2.

Yes, I found this, but like the others, didn't appear to handle Google Now cards. I've tried about 6, but not very scientifically, so perhaps I've rushed the tests a little, I certainly can't recall which did what.
Will give it another try this evening thanks
Lightflow can do this. You can set which cards do and do not get sent to the watch. It comes across as text, not an interactive card (but I don't think any app does the interactive card thing) . Plus lightflow is awesome for your phone notifications.
Light Flow!
If you purchase the full version of light flow you can push alot of notifications to your watch, including google now.

Hi, though cards would be nice, I would be happy with a text style alert/headline for each google now card. For me the whole purpose of the smart watch is to leave the phone in my pocket as much as possible. I like the cards but many are irrelevant or not urgent (like many texts and most FB posts) so if I can casually glance at my watch to confirm this, then it's work is done.
and no, it didn't appear to push the alerts individually.

Then I will buy and try again, I was most impressed with it's configuration anyway. Will let you know how it goes, thanks
Apps like e.g. WatchIt have two different methods of getting the notifications from the phone to the watch: Notification access (under Security settings) and Accessibility. Only the latter one can get Toasts and thus Google Now cards. At least it was like this for me.
OK, I give up, I will live without GNow notifications till the Moto is on my wrist.
THanks for the suggestions
