Upgrade to TWRP 2.6.3?? - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Currently have TWRP 2.5. Is it as simple as running the new utility and installing 2.6.3 on top?? Or do I need to get rid of 2.5 first??

Just as simple as flashing it on top. There's a thread in the development section that has one that can be flashed through fastboot. There's also a recovery flashable zip in in the thread somewhere.
Just as a side note, which Eagles does your username refer to? Football, airplanes, birds, or music?

Thanks bud. Will my old backups still be good? I imagine yes..

Thought it was Philly, but wasn't sure. I've worked on the F-15 in the past and I was kind of hoping that was the eagle you were referring too.
As for backups, it's hit or miss. I've been able to get them to work. Even backups that I made in my Safe Strap days. Each version of TWRP saves the backup in the same format. However, some people have reported that old backups don't work in the newest TWRP.

Alright thanks. I'm just worried about the stock backup.

Message from AT&T to update Rom! rooted, unlocked bootloader

Ok people, Here is a couple of Questions for you. My AT&T One X is rooted with an unlocked bootloader however, I am running a stock Rom. I just started getting this AT&T message that is giving me the option to update my software. But! It gives me a choice of 1, 2, 3, 5, and 8 hours to remind me if I do not do it now. If I let the update happen, will it crash my phone? Will it take out my root? Permanently ?? I am afraid to update because I have been reading that AT&T has been trying to fix their back door.
Also, How can I stop the reminder from coming back???
Flash a custom rom cleanrom 2.5 se is nice. Its really the best way. It blocks ota.

If you haven't installed an custom recovery you would need to with this tool.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26528640
Getting links.
Then CleanROM 2.5 SE (stock debloat performance and battery mods)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26119274
Or CleanROM Lite (very slim speedy rom mostly everything stripped out install own apps from market)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27048708
And then kernal from (general consensus is 1.82 is the best for performance and battery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26933428
And finally a radio from (will have to try them and find out which works best for you with data speed and signal)

I made this from mobile app. Had to edit to add links, lol.

I will do that. I have to get up early for work so I will be back on tomorrow night. One last thing though, you said to flash the Rom then the Kernal? I thought the Kernal came first.
Oh and what if I flash the Kernal without updating to the new Rom? The reason I'm asking is that My wife has the same phone However hers is Rooted but not BL un-locked. so if I flash just the Kernal would it work? Then, would it solve the AT&T reminders to upload their Rom?
Sorry for all the Questions, Gary
These kernals are recovery flashable. Meaning from CWM so ordet doesn't matter, technically the Rom will flash a kernel, but some users say one is better than another so just throwing out options. I don think there is a way to get rid.of.the notification unless you could.freeze the updater app with something like titanium backup, or go custom Rom route.

I want to thank you for the recomending this Rom it all went in beutifully! I ended up flashing my wifes phone also.
Today AT&T sent us messages that stated that there would be no more reminders and that if we did not choose to update they would update anyway. So I shut down the phones until I got off work and took out our access cards then turned off Wi-Fi. Finnally when I could this afternoon I started flashing.
Nice, I'm glad it worked out for you. CleanROM lite is nice too, if you want a leaner Rom.

I have flashed two custom ROMs now and both have been glitchy and slow. (stuttering, freezes, FCs, etc)
I found my original nandroid from just barely post unlock/root, and restored it. I'm on 1.7x and would like to stay that way if at all possible.
Does anyone know what to freeze in TiBa in order to get this to stop? I just want to stay on stock/rooted for right now.

Every time I flash something on this phone, it seems to slow way way down. I just want it to stay where it is.

Been running CleanRom 1.1 lite for about 12 hours and its WAY better than stock by far! Flashed the battery percentage and dim 3 led's and dual core mod. Couldnt ask for anything more
thanks!
So if I have 1.73 rooted with bootloader unlocked. Can i just install clean rom to update to 1.85? or do i first have to update? If i have to update first is it better to use the Peter's guide post or can i just use bootkeeper and to the ota update?
Thanks!

Get ez-recovery, makes flashing different recoveries super easy. After flashing rom and setting up, go back to recovery and flash the kernal. That's what I did on synergy and imo's kernal. Beans v5 flashes it all at once. So far both run great with very good battery life.

If you flash any CM10 based ROM's you will have to do some extra steps. IMO you should just start off with Touch Wiz based ROMS so all you need to do is flash from your SD once and reboot.
This is a better place to talk about it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709There is also LOTS of "HOW TO" stuff there that should get you going.

I got it downloaded and installed. It's a developer build and a little buggy.
It's a little bit of an improvement, but not perfect. Sense 3.6 is kind of annoying. It's intriguing how they have attempted to keep the look of sense 2.1. It feels like they've combined the worse of GB and ICS.
I'm looking forward to what the AOSP community will do with this.

TWRP will work on any XT926 with an unlocked bootloader.
Download the latest version of TWRP from here: http://goo.im/devs/Hashcode/vanquish/
I believe someone has created a tool that will install this for you in a "one-click" fashion. I would recommend that to anyone not really familiar with fastboot or has lesser confidence in using this method.
Here are instructions: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/twrp-and-clocworkmod-cwm-recovery-for-motorola-droid-razr-hd-xt926/ (Ignore the TWRP download links from that article because they may be old.)

Greetings,
I've just moved up to the XT926 from the Droid X2 and I have a basic question concerning use of these recoveries. I flashed a lot of ROMs on the X2 but I knew I always had the battery pull "safety net" available in case of soft brick or boot loops...and I had to make use of it several times.
This is my first "no battery removal" device and since the battery pull is not really an option on the XT926 (well, not without a lot of extra work), I was wondering if its always possible to get the phone booted into one of these recoveries from say a boot loop, or if some other "disaster recovery" method is needed for such events. I'm looking forward to flashing some ROMs on this awesome phone (once they get a bit more stable), but I'd like to know what I might be in for before I start.
If this is a more complicated topic than should be addressed here, I'd be happy to go look at a different forum/posting if someone could point me to it! Thanks in advance for any help!
Ok just to start the recoveries in this thread are for the developer edition only. The safestrap recovery for all the other versions is in the other development section.
To your questions there should be a reset combination for resetting the battery (like pulling it.) Also you should almost always be able to fastboot flash back to stock if something goes wrong.

Thanks for the reply and yes, I have the Dev Edition (I was going to buy @ full retail anyway to preserve my unlimited data on VZW; figured the DE might provide more possibilities down the road for updates once the developer community started working with it).
Good to hear that there are HW methods available to recover. I'll do more google research before I embark on any major changes. Thanks again!
I'm in the same boat as Kevlar. I'm buying at full retail to save my unlimited data. Debating between RAZR HD Dev Edition or the RAZR HD MAXX. My GNEX battery just sucks and so do the radios.
So if I get the Dev edition I can use the CWM or TWRP but they won't work on the MAXX. Only safe strap works?

Can someone please answer my noob question.
I've been reading up on flashing ROMs for the RAZR HD but all directions are for the regular RAZR HDs not the Developer Edition so they all talk about Safestrap.
Does the SD card need partitioned if using TWRP or CWM when flashing ROMs onto Developer edition.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I installed TWRP but I think I like CWM better. Is it possible to switch? Just delete all TWRP files and then install CWM?
I tried flashing two ROMs.. CM10 & Vitreous but got errors on both using TWRP. Want to try CWM.

Quick question.
The directions make it clear that renaming recovery.sh is a fairly important step in the process. However, when I went to browse the /system/ect folder I could not find the recovery.sh file. I could find install-recovery.sh however. Is this the same file?
Thank you.
Edit: Got it all worked out and it seems to work flawlessly so far. Thank you for all of the hard work.
If you use TWRP it should rename the file for you like the directions say. If you are in system/etc then yea it should be the same file.

ROM Manager

Is there any work around to get ROM Manager to work on the HTC One X?
Whenever I try using the application it tells me that I must install "ClockworkMod recovery" and It appears to be unavailable for the HTC One X currently. Am I just doing something wrong here?
Yeaaaaa. Everything you just mentioned is wrong. Do not use rom manager, or CWM. You'll brick as it IS NOT supported for our phone.
That is, if you have a branded dual core version with LTE.

Why not just flash thru recovery?
If you're running the CM10 ROM, I'm pretty sure there's a nifty updater app available from play store. It basically checks your current version and only downloads the parts needed for the next nightly you want to install, which saves doing a full download and flash. But like I said that's only for CM10 users.

Rom manager only ever worked well with CM roms. But even then it's better to use twrp. Using it on stock based roms is asking trouble.

Most people just flash through recovery with twrp (which has a nice touch screen interface btw). I've heard that the highest supported version for the HOX is 2.3.1.0, so just make sure the version you install is supported.

Its remnants from a year or two ago. It was a must have app for rooted phones and was quite awesome in its day. So people upgrading from phones after a 2 year ownership, its just figured that they need it like before.
