Is there any work around to get ROM Manager to work on the HTC One X?
Whenever I try using the application it tells me that I must install "ClockworkMod recovery" and It appears to be unavailable for the HTC One X currently. Am I just doing something wrong here?
Yeaaaaa. Everything you just mentioned is wrong. Do not use rom manager, or CWM. You'll brick as it IS NOT supported for our phone.
That is, if you have a branded dual core version with LTE.

Thank you for the confirmation.
Is there a similar program I can use that will work with the HTC One X?
Why not just flash thru recovery?
If you're running the CM10 ROM, I'm pretty sure there's a nifty updater app available from play store. It basically checks your current version and only downloads the parts needed for the next nightly you want to install, which saves doing a full download and flash. But like I said that's only for CM10 users.

Rom manager only ever worked well with CM roms. But even then it's better to use twrp. Using it on stock based roms is asking trouble.

Most people just flash through recovery with twrp (which has a nice touch screen interface btw). I've heard that the highest supported version for the HOX is 2.3.1.0, so just make sure the version you install is supported.

Ya I thought that might happen haha. It was just a bit of information, ROM manager was used by some to flash updates etc so I thought it might be vaguely relevant.

Why do people like Rom manager its no more work than usual and its usually outdated
Dirty rom comes with flash Gui it allows you to atleast switch them in the android os vs recovery?

Its remnants from a year or two ago. It was a must have app for rooted phones and was quite awesome in its day. So people upgrading from phones after a 2 year ownership, its just figured that they need it like before.

Ok people, Here is a couple of Questions for you. My AT&T One X is rooted with an unlocked bootloader however, I am running a stock Rom. I just started getting this AT&T message that is giving me the option to update my software. But! It gives me a choice of 1, 2, 3, 5, and 8 hours to remind me if I do not do it now. If I let the update happen, will it crash my phone? Will it take out my root? Permanently ?? I am afraid to update because I have been reading that AT&T has been trying to fix their back door.
Also, How can I stop the reminder from coming back???

If you haven't installed an custom recovery you would need to with this tool.

Then CleanROM 2.5 SE (stock debloat performance and battery mods)

Or CleanROM Lite (very slim speedy rom mostly everything stripped out install own apps from market)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27048708
And then kernal from (general consensus is 1.82 is the best for performance and battery.

And finally a radio from (will have to try them and find out which works best for you with data speed and signal)

I will do that. I have to get up early for work so I will be back on tomorrow night. One last thing though, you said to flash the Rom then the Kernal? I thought the Kernal came first.
Oh and what if I flash the Kernal without updating to the new Rom? The reason I'm asking is that My wife has the same phone However hers is Rooted but not BL un-locked. so if I flash just the Kernal would it work? Then, would it solve the AT&T reminders to upload their Rom?
Sorry for all the Questions, Gary
These kernals are recovery flashable. Meaning from CWM so ordet doesn't matter, technically the Rom will flash a kernel, but some users say one is better than another so just throwing out options. I don think there is a way to get rid.of.the notification unless you could.freeze the updater app with something like titanium backup, or go custom Rom route.

I want to thank you for the recomending this Rom it all went in beutifully! I ended up flashing my wifes phone also.
Today AT&T sent us messages that stated that there would be no more reminders and that if we did not choose to update they would update anyway. So I shut down the phones until I got off work and took out our access cards then turned off Wi-Fi. Finnally when I could this afternoon I started flashing.
Nice, I'm glad it worked out for you. CleanROM lite is nice too, if you want a leaner Rom.

I have flashed two custom ROMs now and both have been glitchy and slow. (stuttering, freezes, FCs, etc)
I found my original nandroid from just barely post unlock/root, and restored it. I'm on 1.7x and would like to stay that way if at all possible.
Does anyone know what to freeze in TiBa in order to get this to stop? I just want to stay on stock/rooted for right now.

So if I have 1.73 rooted with bootloader unlocked. Can i just install clean rom to update to 1.85? or do i first have to update? If i have to update first is it better to use the Peter's guide post or can i just use bootkeeper and to the ota update?
Thanks!

I'm perfectly capable of running a couple different one click things, registering with certain websites, slicing throats of chickens, etc. to get a custom ROM onto my stock phone. I'm just happy enough with how the phone currently is that until custom ROMs are as easy to install as on other phones it's not worth the effort to me yet. And I know it'll happen eventually with the awesome devs we have around here.

It's perfect, no reason to upgrade. 2.6 uses the 1.85 base which I have had great luck with. 3.0 uses 1.88 which I had problems with in the past. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I don't mean to flame anyone, but with all the work that goes into Recovery, Unlocking, Root, ROMs, etc.... A one-click root-me, unlock-me, install recovery, and then flash a super spiffy ROM is being incredibly demanding, lazy, and ungrateful.

QuestionI was wondering if dual booting recovery/bootloader was a possibility for our device? If so what do we need to do to accoplish this? I have this on my AT&T SGS2 i777 and enjoy being able to test a ROM before using it, and I could have JB on one and ICS with a custom kernel(Blackout BeastMode v2.1) on the other. I think an official CWM Recovery would help or include this, because I believe right now its unofficial. I dont know for sure, I have used TWRP for a while now.
Any input is appeciated so long as it is on ow the xda forum rules.
This is a really good idea I tried to manually set up dual boot from the market but it would fail every time at modifying the boot image. I would love to be able to bounce between to roms as well.

why do we not have an RUU ? What about radios and such ?
I got it downloaded and installed. It's a developer build and a little buggy.
It's a little bit of an improvement, but not perfect. Sense 3.6 is kind of annoying. It's intriguing how they have attempted to keep the look of sense 2.1. It feels like they've combined the worse of GB and ICS.
I'm looking forward to what the AOSP community will do with this.

IIRC this will have photosphere. Other than that not sure.
Could someone give me a quick process for getting this on my one x. I haven't done this in a while so I'm a little rusty.
Would the process be...
1. Move the current gallery.apk to a back-up location
2. Install the apk that's contained within the zip file
3. reboot
or
1. Back-up/delete the current gallery.apk
2. Reboot into TWRP/Recovery
3. Install the new gallery.apk from the zip file
4. Reboot into ROM
Any assistance would be extremely helpful. I have been running the latest PACMan ROM and I haven't had the need to do much flashing for a while so I am rusty on the process.

One thing that I was curious about was the Photosphere functionality. I can confirm that if it didn't work for you with the 4.2.2 camera on the One X, it still doesn't work with this camera on certain One X models. I believe there are two different gyroscope manufacturers for our phone and Photosphere only works with one of them. Regardless of camera version, so far at least.
Other than that the camera seems to work fine so far. I haven't compared the quality, etc.
Edit screen FC's for me, but everything else seems to work. Thanx.

All I've ever done is flash the zip from the link I posted in the OP. It deletes the old app for you. I've never had any issues with anything I've had to use the new camera for.

May want to check the original thread. Not sure about anything with a GS3,since this is a One X forum.

If you look in the original thread in the first post you will see this has been flashed on a variety of different devices.
And as it is the Samsung Galaxy GS4 camera I thought hey can't be much difference between a GS3 & 4 and hey presto I was right.
At the end of the day android is made for multiple devices, that's the beauty of it all for all not device specific.

Yes, I understand that it's been flashed on multiple devices. That's why I said you should check the original thread from my OP. My reasoning was that you are way more likely to get help in that thread, since it wasn't in a specific device forum, than the one I posted in the One XL forums.

No worries. I was just directing you to the original thread because I thought you were looking for help with the issues you were having. I didn't really expect this many replies to this thread when I made it. I just wanted to share the original thread I found in case other users don't look in the general forums.
