Hi,
I have a big big problem with a explorer. I got this phone from a friend of mine for free because it has the display and touch screen broken, badly brocken. I can`t see anything on it, i just can tell you that when i press the power on , it vibrates once and that`s it. I connected the phone to the computer and it connects as removable storage but it is unaccessible. I tried vol down + pwr and connected the phone to the comp. and it connects as android bootloader interface or something like that(i am not home right now to tell you exactly) and pressed pwr and it connected as android 1.0.
Now the thing is that before all of above i disasembled the phone and had a surprise with the power and volume buttons... they fell off)and i soldered them back. I am afraid that the same problem has the speaker or the phone is badly damaged. I have to say that everything else looks ok.
After all this problem exposed, i am asking you, is it worth it to buy a display and touch screen ? I don`t have nobody to help me with a display to test it.. so is there a way to enter the phone`s memory maybe use android screen cast or something like this to test the phone?
Please help me with this problem.
Thx a lot.

From my experience with HTC phones your symptoms looks like you got main board (motherboard) problem which needs replacement. I had my Sensation XL replace by service centre lucky it was under warranty otherwise it would be costly.

thanks , i will go to replace it , mine is still under warranty but its rooted, so what can i expect?
Same issue
I just bought an HTC Sensation being sold with "battery issues" on ebay... it has a flashing orange light and refuses to charge when off. I figured the seller probably did not understand the charging issue, since the phone was unlocked, and they didn't have an external way to charge the battery and bring the phone back to life.
However I bought an extra battery and charger .... and I am experiencing the exact same problem. The phone will give one quick vibrate when attempting to power on.
Nothing on screen is displayed. However when I hook the phone up to the laptop it shows a greyed out "removable disk F:" and the computer detects an HTC device in device manager.
Do you guys think that the LCD is dead? At least the phone is showing some signs of life when hooked up to the PC.
HOWEVER, the phone gets very very hot at the bottom of the screen/around the sim slot. Also when I go to ADB devices and ask for it to list devices.... it does not show anything.
Buying this thing was probably not my smartest decision I contacted HTC and the warranty expired 3 weeks ago.
no i think lcd is not broken , motherboard is

I took it apart.... and yeah the motherboard is completely f***ed up. The one connector is destroyed and all of the chipset is completely destroyed on the mainboard. No wonder the bottom of the phone gets so hot.
The phone no longer has a warranty. How much does HTC charge for a mainboard replacement (it needs the bottom board , not the top one with flex cable)???
is the LCD toast? i gotta sensation with a cracked digitizer (which still works 100% when hooked up through hdmi and a tv) but the LCD is completely black.

Does it boot in the OS or is it just a black screen? What do you mean by "just switches on"?
If it's DOA why don't you warranty it?
sorry

If the screen stays off no backlight nothing....
It is most likely a loose connection ...
Which mean you need to go back inside ...
See if all the ribbon cables on tightly in there slots ....
Thx Josh
Hi, the other day while I was using my OPO as a GPS unit in the car, it seemed to freeze and restart, but it didn't boot. I thought it was just an empty battery problem. But since then, I haven't been able to use my phone again.
Apparently, it boots correctly, but I can't see anything on the screen. I say it boots correctly because I can hear the notifications, the led blinks, and I can even feel the feedback if I touch the capacitive buttons. Also I was able to backup my data through adb. But the screen is completely black. The only moment where it shows something is at the moment of booting, where the cyanogen logo should be, but it's completely scrambled (see attachment)...
I tried going back to stock (with the help of Bacon Root Toolkit) with no luck.
Has anyone faced the same problem? Do you think it might be a software problem? Otherwise, do you think it's a screen problem that I can fix changing the screen? Or it might be a problem with the GPU and changing the screen will not accomplish anything?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Cheers,
Capelare.
PS: Well, apparently I can't post the image since I just registered. It's here anyway: i_imgur_com/V9oH2el.jpg Just change the _ for dots, please. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
bump
Nobody knows what might be the problem?
Reflashing didn't help anything? Even with wiping all data?
Then i think its an hardware- based problem.

Try booting into fastboot (volume up and power when off) you will hear a vibration and fastboot mode should come up, if this doesn't happen, it's pretty much a dead giveaway that the hardware is broken

Thank you! Nothing happens with any of those methods. So yeah, I also suspected that it's a hardware problem... But do you know if I can figure out if it's the screen or the graphics system (I don't know how to call it other than graphic card... and it's not a card lol) before purchasing a screen replacement... Any ideas?
Thanks again,
Capelare.

I find it hard to believe that the gpu is broken, the cpu, gpu and more are all on a single chip and I don't think one part can just fail without the others failing too... but you never know, if you can still send it to oneplus for warranty do it, it saves you a lot of time. If you can't there are a few things you can do:
1. If you had usb debugging enabled and authorized to your pc, you can try to use some screen mirroring software on your pc that works via usb.
2. Contact a repair shop that will allow you to test a new or used display with your current phone.
3. Try connecting your one to a tv by using a micro usb to hdmi cable (DON'T KNOW IF THE ONE SUPPORTS THIS!!).
Good luck!

Thanks, I can't send it to oneplus because this screen is already a replacement and I changed it myself. I will try asking for another display
I didn't know the gpu and the cpu were on the same chip, but I also think it's not likely that one would fail and not the other.
Cheers,
Capelare.
