I usually charge my Sensation at night, but i noticed for two times that when i charged the phone in full at the evening, then gamed or so, and left the battery at 60% or so, on morning i find the battery dead. I would like to find out which app does the draining...
How?
I just looked at all the running applications (Settings>Applications>Running) & looked at the running time for each. Find out which one is running more than it should.
I know that if you leave WiFi and WiFi Calling on overnight, the battery will die. I just turn off WiFi when I'm not using it.
I got an app that is linked in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15527276
It can show what is using your battery.
Shorty, i installed your app, it says that maps is using like i times more resources than android system for the wake time. What app is maps? I didn,t use gps or navigation apps for a few days.

I think that is the Google Maps app. Probably what xnifex said.
Well, i signed out of Latitude 2 days ago. 1st day it passed the night pretty well and also all the day, till i charged it in the evening, played a few games and left it for the second night at 75% battery.
In the morning it is dead again
Shorty's app doesn't show anything that may help
you did check under partial wake time?
Yes, nothing special.
Android system on #1, total time 6 min
then the rest.
Total for all time, the same for total since boot and last unplugged...
Weird
When I look at my battery stats at the end of the day, Maps is ALWAYS in 1st place for eating my battery. It shows that it consumes about 30-40% of my battery. Now for the weird part... I haven't run maps during that cycle at all. I have tried cold booting and leaving maps alone. I have tried killing the maps application. It doesn't seem to have an effect.
I am assuming this is an error and that Maps isn't eating my battery. Does anyone have any insight here?
I am rooted, lock bootloader, stock ROM.

I'm pretty sure the stock battery stats aren't very accurate. You could also bloatware freeze maps.
I've noticed lately that I've had to kill GPS a few times.
Don't know if it's Maps, something else Google or Weather Bug.
Check for the GPS icon lower right corner (1st icon) to see if it's attempting to get a fix.

I noticed the same thing and started turning wifi off while not in use. Once it was off, Maps no longer showed up as being the greatest battery hog (usually doesn't even make it onto the list now). Though this is annoying that I have to remember to turn wifi off, it seems to resolve the drain.
The only question is, is this due to Maps pinging the wifi to get the current location (I don't need my location while the device is off, they should offer a setting to turn that off)? OR, is it some issue with the battery stats and Maps is just a false positive?
EDIT: I should note that I do not have latitude turned on (so it would need to be a setting other than that to turn off whatever other wifi processing it is doing).
I see the same thing. At first, I just turned off the wifi, and it didn't show up as using the battery, now I just ignore it. It doesn't actually seem to actually be using that much of the battery.

i am also facing the same problem. am i thinking should i just freeze it and see how it behave ?
Turn off location settings
I had the same problem too, which I resolved by going into Maps->Settings->Location Settings and then un-ticking everything that was ticked. Maps then no longer needs to stay awake and log your location everywhere you go. The app now only shows up on the battery list when I've actually been using it.
Is anyone seeing this copious amounts of this wakelock too? It's part of the Google Search app and its wakelock has now been active for close to 5 hours now just today and seems to be active for most of the day. This is reported by Better Battery Stats and is seems to be confirmed by high energy usage by the built-in batttery settings app, as Google Search hovers in the mid 20s percentage.

I got this wakelock overnight after completely disabling location services. My N5 was held awake literally the whole night by this wakelock. This morning I turned back on location reporting and the phone is deep sleeping once again. Very strange. Did you have location service disabled because that seems to be what is causing the wakelock?
I would like to find a solution to this so I can keep location services disabled without completely disabling Google Now for overnight when I can't access a charger.

Yeah, I have my location services set to "device only", which I guess is the equivalent to the former GPS only. It could be that the GPS is turning itself off and on continually while it's supposed to be sleeping, and the fact that I'm mainly indoors could explain the hours long wakelock.
I set it to GPS only on the Nexus 5, because that was the most battery friendly on the Nexus 4, but the way services now work, it could be the least battery friendly setting.
this is completely confirmed! my note3 wasnt sleeping at all with the new google search 20hrs of no deep sleep with location off and i turned location on and its been sleeping like a dream for the past hour.. Very weird though
Same issue here with my HTC One. I noticed my battery was tanking at about twice the normal rate today, so I just opened up Wake Lock Detector and saw that on about 5.5 hours of use, Google Search had it awake for 4.5 of them. I've just turned on location services to see if that fixes it.
But, I'm with you. I'd rather find a fix that lets me keep location disabled.
Me too. I have a Galaxy4 S4 with 4.3 stock Samsung ROM. WLD shows huge count of EntriesRefresh_wakelock with almost three hours from 12 por off charge.
Confirmed on the lg g2 on 4.3. I disabled Wi-Fi and mobile network location because of the horrible nlp partial wakelocks only to encounter the entriesRefresh wakelock leech. Keeps awake like 90 of the time. I'm going to go back to enable Wi-Fi and mobile location until this is cleared up.
I am unable to even use Google now.. if I enable Location Report it's burning up and running about 20%.. if I disable Location Reporting it's running 50%.. I like Google Now and don't have any use for the location stuff...
Anyone have any updates? My only other option is going to just be to wipe it and keep Google Now unused so it doesn't run at all..
You can try to greenify Google search which contains this wakelock if you have the paid version of greenify (hibernates system apps). They say it's inadvisable to hibernate system apps, but you can override it. I would do a full backup and try it. They refund your money in 3 days instead of 15 minutes if your not happy. I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

Oddly enough I never had this issue on my nexus 5, but my Nexus 7 is absolutely plagued with just hours and hours of this wake lock as soon as I turn location reporting off.
Same issue here, my N7 is going nuts with this.

This has happened on my N5 before. Force stopping it once I noticed and also rebooting seem to fix it.
I had this wakelock for 2 nights in a row, completely draining the battery BUT
I have location services enabled and GPS is on (I play Ingress all the time and the network loaction gives me a faster lock)
I too noticed this was my top partial wakelock yesterday even though I have location services on. First time I've seen that happen. But it wasn't as aggressive as it was when location services were off.

Noticed this keeping my Nexus 5 awake 51%, location services were disabled. My Nexus 7 and Moto X also have them disabled and they were only awake 1%. Google Search is showing 60% of the battery but my device has been mostly idle for 4 days now. I'll see if enabling the services helps otherwise I'm not sure what else to attempt.

I got this wakelock this morning.... "entriesrefresh_wakelock"
my location reporting is off
I love my N5 but god......I'm experiencing battery drain frequently (when I'm not on WIFI) with different wakelocks...
Otherwise the battery life is very good, if google can fix it once for all
I had this problem on my Nexus 5 too. I "fixed" it by uninstalling updates for the Google Search app (you can get there by going Settings>Apps and tapping Google Search). However Google will re-update the app frequently so you will have to repeat the process. Here's hoping another update fixes this problem.
Either disabling Location reporting or Locations all together can get rid of this I believe. Tasker can automatically re-enable it when you leave your wifi zone.
Today something odd happened, all of a sudden Google Search has become a huge battery hog! I really can't imagine why. I was working for 15 hours today, and it rarely got used. I have about 2.5 Hours of screen-on time over 14.5 hours, which used 33% of my battery(or is it 33% of battery used? I have never been sure). In that time, Google Search used a whopping 25%! How can Google Search use almost as much juice as 2.5 hours of screen time? Surely there is something going on but I don't know how to track it down. I even turned both Location and GPS off most of the day after noticing this. Can anyone help? I have attached a couple of screenshots that might help people who know more than me.
Disable "HotWord detection' aka "Okay Google" in Google now settings.

disable GOOGLE now or freeze it with titanium backup
I have seen mine do the same thing. The culprit I had was that Google now was stuck and would not finish refreshing. A restart fixes this. Try refreshing Google now by swiping down and if the bars just keep going like its trying to refresh then that's the issue.

But then it'll reset your home screen...all the shortcuts will be gone..and you won't have the google now on the left.
I had this same problem. Google search wasn't letting my phone sleep, awake for 18+ hours.
Uninstalled last updated, and havnt had any issues yet.
You should turn Google Now off, that oughta fix it.

The issue with this draining your battery is that you have location turned off, if you turn it on and leave it on you will not get the battery drain. With it off Google search is constantly looking for the location and cannot find it which is what is draining your battery. Had this issue and once I turned on location and left it on, no more drain. Hope this helps!
there is no end to this !!!! (-_-)
i am carrying my old nokia phone , instead of this Nsh!t , :crying::crying:
Just reboot the phone, rarely that can happen with every app
Inviato dal mio Nexus 5 utilizzando Tapatalk
You can also just force stop it once you notice it.
it's the crap location functionality of google now, it wake up your phone to get your GPS position at every 5min, then use this location history to show google now cards.
Just go to "apps > google settings > location > google location reporting" and disable both options, this will stop tracking your position and will save a huge battery. If you don't use google now, disable it too to save even more battery

If you have locations services on, and location history on, along with poor network/moving a lot, that's possible. Sometimes a reboot helps though.
Location off, Network is Above avg. And i have rebooted plus did a cache wipe partition. Today got around 3 hours Screen on also Android system has joined in on eating my battery. factory rest needed?
fix
