Anyone recommend an all in one cache/history/system cleaner? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know you can manually clean caches and histories on your own but going into an app and just pressing 1 button to do it for you would be easier. Anyone have any recommendations?
I have been using SD maid pro for a while which has been great but it dosent clean cache or history.

I like clean master

Tried it but didn't like it. Didn't clear up some basic things like SMS messages and my call log and in the privacy section just points you to different apps for you to manually clean on your own. Don't need an app for that.

Apps On Device Not Showing in Market

Even after using the fix market links option in titanium backup (which finds none missing) the market application still doesn't recognize over 100 Apps on my device. Any recommendations? Running Th3ory of ginger rom 3.51. Hard to know what updates are available if the apps installed aren't recognized by the market.

Nobody else has this problem?
Try going to settings and apps and clearing market data and cache.. it's a stretch but it might work

Thank you for the response. Attempted to do this, however clear data and clear cache are both grayed out. Apparently this isn't even an option with the market app.
Any other ideas?
Anybody? I can't believe I'm the only one with this problem!

I had this problem earlier. When I rebooted the phone they weren't grayed out anymore. After clearing the data and cache my apps showed up
i have this problem too. i will give the above a try and give feedback.
Well, I don't know why, but the only thing that I found that fixes this aside from a reflash is to use the mybackup pro application's fix market links, reboot twice, and all fixed. So, if anybody else has this problem, give this a shot and tell me if it worked for you too. Kinda pissed that titanium backup couldn't fix it but mybackup pro could. I paid for TiBu

[HEADS UP] Temple Run??? A Scam?

Supposedly, Temple Run by Imangi Studios came out on the market, well, it's a fake.
I downloaded it, when you click the play button, it says coming in 4 days 10 hours..., then it says hit like on facebook to play. Well, I doubt they would do that if it was real. Also, I got ad-notifications.
DON'T DOWNLOAD IT YET. They will post it officially on facebook when released.
good looking out. If I would have saw it I would have downloaded.
Um I think I have a virus on my phone now....I uninstalled the app (I downloaded it before finding out that their was fake) and now I keep getting shortcuts added to my home screen....I don't understand why is it doing that considering I already removed the app and there's nothing left to uninstall.

Have you tried any of the lookout security apps?
Yeah, I installed lookout and it said my system was clean but every time I reboot my phone, a new app shortcut is added to my home screen.

Since nobody else has weighed in... maybe download an app like Gemini App Manager or Autostarts and see if you can find remnants of the app that has an autostart script on it. Or try clearing your caches including Dalvik. Just some ideas.
I knew this thread would come out handy.

Thanks for the help. I tried using Gemini and autostarts and couldn't find anything but I think clearing the caches did the trick.

Incompatible apps?

Running smooth v 4.0 and a lot of apps (Facebook, instagram, amazon) aren't showing up. I have them downloaded, but I try and search them but nothing pops up.

cleared store cache?
maybe reinstal the rom. I haven't had any issues with it. but when I flash a new rom i clear cache, dalvik, and emmc (internal sd card) every time.
Have you changed your pixel density? That can affect whether market apps show up or not.

How to automate app installation after a new flash?

I've never figured this out over several devices and many flashed roms... You'd think I would have. Is there a way to auto install all the apps I had on one rom after I re flash? I'm tired of going into the market and hunting down each and every one.

Two words "titanium backup"! Plus if you use Google play music it backs that up too.

Thanks, I'll mess around with titanium backup and see if I can figure it out

Its pretty straightforward. Run a batch to backup all user apps + data. Then after installing a ROM you can run another batch to restore missing apps. I highly recommend this app.

Sometimes the play store reinstalls everything for me automagically, and sometimes it doesnt. I wish i could track down the reasons behind why its so random.

Pretty sure its in the rom. With CM10, upon first boot, there is a choice of "restore my google account to this phone" and if you tick it, it downloads all of your apps (and also wallpaper and wifi passwords, maybe more.) So as far as I can tell, some roms simply dont perform this step.

Just don't do system apps/settings. You're asking for bugs/problems backing them up and restoring them. The only exceptions are "Call Log" and "Messages(SMS & MMS)" both will be in yellow text. Don't do "Messaging" it is the actual app, not the data.

^^What he said. It's ROM specific.
Thanks everyone. I have had most of them automatically reappear, synced through the store, but I have a few apps that were from elsewhere, plus for some reason when going from stock to cm10,not every app appeared. Maybe because of going from an ics to a jb base?

Clearing Cache

I have searched the forum, found results but most of them were of some other phones, and my question was not really answered in it.
Anyway my question is does removing/clearing cache make phone slow? I use ES Task manager to clear the cache, but i noticed after clearing it, my phone became a little slow :S. Not sure whether it was due to clearing cache or something else.
Because what i know that clearing cache make ur phone work fast. :S

Speaking from a PC point of view, programmes that cache clearing and other services that are available to do manually, even if buried under layers of menus, tend to make things worse and drop there own nasties along the way.
So delete said programme and when you want to clear your cache;
1) Open the "internet" app (not via your chosen browser app)
2) Hit "Menu" (the three horizontal dots button in a corner of the screen)
3) Hit "Privacy & Security"
4) Hit "Clear Cache" = done!
optional) & "Clear History" if you want.

But i m talking about cache of all apps. If we remove cache of all apps through some app like ES Task manager, does it make ur phone slow?

NO it doesn't make the phone slow down, may be it makes some apps slow down but just in the beginning, after a while it will be normal, personally i always clear my cache, especially Facebook, Twitter, chrome and Default Browser to have some free space, otherwise, if you noticed some lags it may be caused by apps updates ...
Cordially.

In my book the same applies;
Settings/Storage/
scroll down to phone storage, under that heading use "Make more space" to do the job.

Never mind my brother ...
i want to give you another advice in order to avoid powerlessness of your device, please please please never use task killers !!!, people thought that task killers make their phones smooth, but paradoxically it doesn't !!!, after killing apps android will launch again some apps because he need them, so why do you kill them !!! and when he finish with the apps recently closed, they will be closed automatically, why we need this !!!?, because android want to make your experience more smooth, so please never kill apps .

Yeah i read that somewhere, and never killed any app using a third party task manager after that. I have ES task manager just to clear cache and sometimes check the storage and other phone status (which can be checked through other means as well, but i like all the info at one place).
Once or twice i used the stock task manager to kill some apps, but now i dont even use it to kill apps.
