This is the second time this happened since I've had the phone from Thursday. On Sunday swype started acting up really badly, it was very laggy and would take almost 2 seconds to show up a word after I swype it. Clearing the cache didn't help but my phone rebooted randomly and all of a sudden everything was fine and fast. Now it's been two days since and just an hour ago swype started to act up again and would type really slowly. So I went to shut off the phone and boot it up - but after clicking "power off" it rebooted itself right away and my default keyboard changed to the Google keyboard. Anyone experience swype problems? This Google keyboard is pretty annoying.

I'm starting to keep a log every time my g2x locks up where I write down the date, time and what I was doing when it happened to get an idea of what could be causing it to happen and to get an idea of how often it happens.
If you want to do this as well, please post which rom you are using and which firmware.
So far, I've logged this once when I was opening a site in the android browser.
Using Cyanogenmod 7 with Gingerbread 2.3.4
About to get on star tours, pulled it out of my pocket to check mousewait.
lockedup
I have had re boots every now and then.
Freezes and screen locks just seemed to start last week, and now today, my phone seems to shut off the screen 30 seconds after boot.
The touch buttons work fine as well as the sound and vibrate. When I hold down the off button I feel it vibrate as it does when the menu pops up, but the screen does not show.
I'm kind of clueless what changed to make this happen.
bionix..
Listening to Pandora for around 30min. Turned on the screen to check battery level. Was getting low. Plugged it into the wall charger. Phone rebooted. Had headphones plugged in.
Turned off screen. Waited a minute. Usually worked.
G2x with faux AOSP and faux orange kernel. [email protected] 5107 quadrant.
I've been consistently logging what I was doing when the phone locks up (which is no more than once per day) and it seems that my G2X has always locked up while browsing in the android browser except for 1 instance where it locked up in the Firefox app.
Has anyone else noticed this as well ? I am keeping up with the latest builds of CyanogenMod hoping that these bugs will get worked out.
On the bright side, the problem where the audio doesn't work until you reboot the phone seems to have gone away. I guess that it's been fixed in the latest builds.

Glad I'm not the only one...
I just put the phone back in the box I bought it in.
I stopped using custom ROMS when streaming radios just lagged or skipped. Now granted, at least in Stock ROM, the radio stream lag and skips stopped. It pisses me of that Slacker Radio will not work on G2x. I tried almost ever ROM. I think its the phone or the silly app. The crashes/freeze, especially on stock android browser was the last straw for me.
I had it and locked it up until the LG updates the device.
On myTouch 4g until then.
I was texting and this POS just decided to lock up.
I went to unlock the screen and this POS locked up.
I was scrolling through apps and this POS decided to lock up.
Sorry for the agression but im borederline done with this phone, 3rd shipped one.
sleeping. or sitting at my desk not using the phone. I don't think I've had it lock/reboot more than once when I was actually doing something, but lately it's rebooting every night when I'm fast asleep (phone isn't plugged in) and sometimes during the day in my pocket.

Finally someone who is in the same boat as me. I'm trying all kinds of different things to pinpoint the cause because it's very obvious that it's related to some software that's time based - runs at specific intervals. I get either freezes in standby or reboots almost every night in the middle of the night - like 3-4AM or so. HOWEVER, I use the crap out of the phone during the day (every feature, kill it all) and it hangs tough and runs great. So it's not hardware for sure. Will post if I find anything.
I was dropping a deuce when it locked up.

Unlocking the screen, charging off of AC or USB, texting, browsing, doing nothing sitting on my desk or in my pocket... umm... let's see... just about ANYTHING at any given time. Let's not forget the random reboots that happen multiple times a day and sometimes goes for 2 or 3 days without doing it. Battery pulls becoming more frequent then with my old BB. Getting to be ridiculous.
Let me not forget I have tried every damned kernel/ROM combo out there. Stock rooted, etc... on my third phone and they have all experienced the same problems. Different batteries as well both factory stock and aftermarket. At this point I am just waiting for LG to do something. If not when the SGS II comes out I will just get that and demand a refund from T-Mobile for selling me this wonderful brick of a phone.
Mine always locks up when in browser visiting xda forums. The progress bar hits 50% and everything freezes. I have to press power several times before it gets back to normal.
Guys,
Are you guys using CyanogenMod ? This was happening to me a lot on the stock ROM but since I upgraded to CyanogenMod, I've been having maybe 1 lock up per day but sometimes less then that. I'd really recommend trying it out if you aren't using it already.
My dog fell asleep on it and it must have overheated. I pulled the battery and it wouldn't boot past the CM7 lg boot screen. Luckily I had a nandroid of dark sinister 1.1. Bet it kept the pooch warm though.

just wondering if people who are getting these are getting a prompt from HTC when phone reboots to report it to them , ive had the reboots before but they stopped when i deleted some apps , i got one today after installing a few more apps from market and when phone rebooted the prompt came up ,never happened before on the other reboots
happened to me twice today
Happened once a day on my first unit, swapped and this unit hasn't happened since, plus the power button/wake lock key is perfect on this one =)

I got the phone yesterday, and without getting any istallations from the market, phone would reboot itself after every 1 to 2 minutes.
Every time I would get the option to report it to HTC (this phone has just recovered from abnormal reset - or along those lines), but I will definitevely return it - a bit too much money for the issue from the start.
For the last couple of days whenever I plug the phone in to charge overnight after about 10-15 seconds S-Voice turns on?! Has this happened to anyone else? Phone is totally stock, not rooted with only some bloatware disabled.
I don't have this issue, but I know whenever I plug it into the car dock (I have the Infuse Dock), it automatically starts S-Voice. I don't know, maybe something is triggering your phone to go into car mode?

you might have the setting "only listen while charging" enabled under the S voice settings.
open Svoice, then hit menu, & go into the settings& see if that option is checked
Don't have that checked but today after work while driving home I heard it come on. Thought nothing of it because had the music blasting so thought maybe it thought it heard me. Few minutes later got multiple text messages and each time a text came in S-Voice turned on. So I turned off the wake on screen lock function and see how that goes.

Svoice turned on last night when my phone did the 15% battery notice. I cancelled it hoping it was a fluke but at the 5% notice the ****ing thing did it again!
I turned it off. Not that I ever really used it or anything. ****in ***** never worked for anything other than the weather. Maybe I wasn't asking the questions right. Gimmicky. I'll wait for googles version.

Hey guys
My device is GS6, few days ago received OTA update. Updated phone like usual and all went fine. Few days later started noticing that device randomly restarting. Today it happened 4 or 5 times so far, mainly when I want to unlock screen, after swipe everything freezes and device restarts.
Also when I left phone on charge, come back to it, unplugged charger and phone is dead, won't start won't respond to anything. After pressing volume key power and home button, I managed to restart it.
What is happening to my phone. Really don't want hard reset it as all settings etc will be gone.

Yesterday phone froze and restated few times, it came to stage when it wouldn't boot past Samsung logo. After numerous attempts to start it , it started.
Now I have number 6 above one of home screen folders, just appeared from nowhere. Can't remove it.

Try a factory reset, maybe same app is the problem.
Done full reset and its much worse now. It woudnt boot correctly after reset, phone started up but during set up process froze and restarted a lot of times. Looks like hardware, but strange it happened straight after ota update
For about 5 months my phone will randomly restart. It doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason as to what app I'm using when it does it. It started just once in a while, then a few times a week, to every day and then multiple times a day. About 3 months ago I cleared the cache as my first "fix." Didn't work. About 1.5 months ago, I hard reset my phone, but restored my settings. I thought that worked, but less than a week later, the rebooting started again. So then last Thurs, I hard reset and did NOT restore any settings and basically set my phone up from scratch. the next day, my phone reboot, and every day since and today when I woke up my phone on the charger was off and wouldn't turn on (with 100% battery on the screen) until I essentially "soft reset" it. It has since rebooted 2 more times today.
I have a lot of apps on my phone, many that aren't used regularly. Booting into safe mode is the last suggestion ATT had but how in the hell do I figure out what is causing the problem??? Also, has anyone else had this issue and waht was the reason and solution?
