The new cyanogenmod installer - Samsung Infuse 4G

Just found out about the new cyanogemod one-click installer being released in the play store.
(can't post link, sorry!)
I know infuge 4g isn't on there, but isn't this phone technically a rebranded and modified S2? I'm wondering if there's a chance it could work.
What do you think?

because of the humminbird soc in the infuse, its more like an s1 than an s2. its not just a rebranded device, it was an interim device commissioned to get 4g phones on att without waiting for the s2 to be released. does not run cm roms from either. and as its not running official from cm, itll never be on the cyanogenmod installer.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.cyanogenmod.oneclick&hl=en <- here is the cm installer in the play store, but dont use it.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/CyanogenMod_Installer#Supported_Devices <- here is the list of supported devices, the infuse is not on it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776129 <- heres cm10.2 for the infuse, it runs well, install it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2517092 <- heres cm11 for the infuse, it doesnt run well yet, wait to install it.

I don't see why someone would use this. You either know how to root and have already done so with the proper procedures, or you don't know what rooting/flashing is and you don't find out about the Cyanogenmod installer.
So they plan to market rooting and flashing a ROM to people who have no idea what any of it is for and the capabilities of root are.

New to rooting with this phone

I have rooted 3 phones prior to this one. I have it all set up and running Refuse 1.7. I have seen that there are a good load of roms available for the infuse 4g. Many of them say 2.3.5, etc. Is that the android version needed by the phone before installing the rom? I am on 2.2.1 and am worried about installing any other rom, than one which has froyo in the name leaving me with only 3 choices. Any help would be appreciated I want to try a miui rom or something else from here but am worried that since I have 2.2.1 when I install one that has 2.3 in its name I will brick.

No bro, the " 2.3.5" or "2.3.6" its that ROMs Android version, not the one needed to install it, still you do need a modified recovery to easily install a custom rom. I would personally recomend this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1220088
as a good guide for new guys trying to install custom roms since the instructions are very detailed and hardly would give you trouble. After installing that rom you would have gathered the necessary knowledge to choose your next rom like MIUI or CM7 or another samsung Infuse rom or Samsung port to Infuse.

[Q] Help finding a rom that comes with pdroid

Hello, I just rooted my Samsung galaxy note 10.1 gt-8013 running jelly bean. for the first time a few days ago. It was the first time I rooted anything. The reason I wanted to root it was pdroid. I have installed 3 or 4 different roms on it trying to get pdroid to work on them with no luck. I have also used the auto patcher like it says to. The tablet says it's installed, and have ran the auto patcher multiple times on each rom. When I look for it in the market it still won't show up. So I'm starting to get a little frustrated because I'm not sure if I'm just not using the auto patcher correctly or if it's just does not work on my table. If anyone knows of a rom that comes with pdroid with it. Or if anyone can point me to a rom and has the patch for pdroid. Any help would be appreciated.

I too hope a dev will one day integrate pdroid, on a multiwindow capable rom, until cm integrates this feature, i guess that means stock roms for now.......either integrate, or build their rom in such a way that is compatible with a pdroid patch .
Over on the official thread, looks like the dev has added stock compatibility, but i suspect its for specific stock roms, could be wrong

I think it was for very specific devices, if i got the gist of it right, i think a dev needs to implement it into a rom specifically for our note 10's
yes,but i've no knowlegde at all for doing this. i was hoping you found something.

I found out something similar to pdroid... it's called XPrivacy and runs on top of the Xposed framework. it needs root but it's pretty straight foward to install and use. it also works for pratically any rom including stock.
you can find the installation/user guide on github https://github.com/M66B/XPrivacy
I'm not 100% sure but there's an article on this on android police. it works like a charm for me (jb 4.1.2 on stock)
hope you find it usefull like i did!!

Today I read on some post found on a g+ page that the studio, and some other Blu lines, are getting kitkat on May 1st, 2014. No ROMs anywhere around that I can find for this device, just sites that are scam sites trying to infect you. Was hoping CyanogenMod, aokp, or paranoid android would have a ROM available, but nope.
I'm actually trying to build my own ROM for the Blu Studio 5.0S (my family all have the same phone now, and I previously had us on Concur One, but there's so much bloatware in there that isn't neccessary it's absurd -- these things have 1GB of RAM, and yet we have less than 1/3 of that to work with once the phone has been running for a few hours, not to mention that they dressed it up as 4.3.1 when it isn't..).
I've actually tried assembling 4.3.1_r1 manually from AOSP and loading the drivers in -- it causes a bootloop. As far as I can tell, nothing beyond 4.1.2 works on these devices thusfar (though I'd love to be proven wrong); all the ROMs that look like they're 4.2 or 4.3 aren't; they just edited the build.prop and other values so it reported being 4.3.1, and looked like it, but wasn't actually. Bit annoying actually.
I've not tried KitKat yet, as I can't seem to build it in any form, and I don't much like the idea of porting another ROM; I'd honestly rather maintain my own for my family based off the Karbonn S5 Stock ROM.
If Karbonn/BLU does come out with a KitKat stock though, I'd love to know that, and I'll likely be watching for it & will share it if I come across something working, would be awesome to build off that instead for my ROM.

Cyanogen Android version 4.3.1

Hi All,
Apologies I know this is a old device and trust me I have scoured the web before I ask for for this.
Does anyone have Gapps etc for Cyanogen Android version 4.3.1 for this o/s?
I know it's old and no longer supported, but I have just been handed this Samsung Galaxy tab 2 EPRESSO10RF and wanted to try and get some life out of it.
Cyanogen Android version 4.3.1 - seems to run pretty well on this device, hence why I wanted to pursue getting play store on this.
Thank you in advance.
You should go to the "Unified development" thread as you have many up to date and fully working roms from Marshmallow to Oreo.

If you want to use Jellybean then sure. There is a russian forum called 4pda i remeber there still being an alive link for jb gapps. Will check and update. But i would recommend something like a marshmellow rom without gapps. Gapps have become quite a lag machine on these older devices since 2012. I only see them viable on kitkat.

Would there be any hope for getting Android Jellybean or KitKat on this old Samsung from 2012? (Samsung Galaxy Discover)

I have a Samsung Galaxy Discover, it's my old childhood phone and for the memories, I want to make it as usable as I can now, however I basically can't do anything internet related with it as it runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich (which I will be shortening to ICS for the rest of this post), ICS has certificate issues which you can't do anything about, to use anything internet related you need Jellybean (also has certificate issues but not as bad as ICS and they can be updated unlike ICS) or KitKat (has all modern certificates), however the Discover only has ICS ROMs, there was a Jellybean ROM at one point however the link is dead and I can't find an archive of it. I know it's possible to get Jellybean and KitKat on the Discover because the Galaxy Ace Plus has both Jellybean and KitKat ROMs, and the Ace Plus and Discover are basically the same phone, and I did spend a bit of time trying to port a CyanogenMod 10 ROM for the Ace Plus to the Discover, but I'm just too inexperienced with ROM porting and making ROMs and I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, so after I ran into an issue I couldn't find any details about on Google, I just gave up and went back to ICS.
If anyone could explain how to make a ROM (whether it be making my own ROM from scratch or porting an already existing ROM like CyanogenMod) for the Discover or even make a ROM for me, I'd be super thankful, preferably I want Jellybean as this is a super cheap phone and I don't think KitKat will run very well on it, however if KitKat is easier to get running I'll do KitKat. The exact model number of the phone is SGH-S730M. I have access to computers running macOS, Windows and Linux. (figured that'll be helpful to know if I need to make a ROM)
How do I create a custom rom?

That page doesn't help. The first guide linked there requires you getting the device tree, vendor, and kernel from GitHub, and since the Discover is an obscure device, I highly doubt any of that stuff is on GitHub, I'd have to pull it from a pre-existing ICS ROM or something (but idk how to do that), and on the second page linked there I don't see any sort of guide.
