Any of you use your Nexus 5 as DLNA server?
What is the best app you are using?
I've used pixel and media streamer but they close here and there. Have not got thru a full video.

I have been searching the market and can't seem to find a good app to stream videos off my PC over wifi. I had the Vibrant and loved the app Allshare that it came with.

the only say that I know of requires some work and would have to use a computer as a pass through device. AND the phone would have to be connect to said PC via the USB cable. Check out Android Screen-Cast if this option is ok. If someone else has a better solution, please chime in.

If you have a network-enabled TV or BR player, just use the DLNA to send media over the network.

Maybe I should have clarified.. Preferably looking for a free app or website to stream movies.

Most of those are warez. Netflix is your legal bet.

I have Netflix.. I don't necessarily like the movie choices so I was looking for other options.. Thanks for all the replies though gentlemen..

If you are looking for an illegal app, that breaks the rules on xda and people have been banned for posting such. Google is a better bet

Google "let me watch this"

A legal site for streaming is twitch.tv/Justin.tv . They are owned by same company, twitch mainly streams live video game feeds and Justin streams movies. Just pick the entertainment option or you will see all streamed channels

Most big TV stations stream shows on their site the next day. Not all sites work on the phone though.

Well I use Crackle which is not illegal but does only give you a set amount of movies

Just search "free streaming" in play store had a few apps. I use market unlocker and spoof t-mobile market so im not sure if att blocks them.
netflix
I have a Netflix issue. I have googled this and not found anyone else with this problem. My Netflix on my HTC one x is awful quality. I have a nexus 4 an LG optimus g a Motorola razr and a razr v. They all stream Netflix in great quality. For some reason unknown to me my HTC one x looks terrible. You tube looks great???? I think it has something to do with the tegra 3 but I don't really know. Can anyone here provide a solution or at least an explanation???
Hey guys.
I'm loving my Nexus 5. But I use xbmc on a daily basis for streaming movies and TV shows from icefilms and navi x.
I've been trying to play some videos and every video I have played so far has cracking in the audio and the video is very stuttery. This is the same on different sources and 720p and lower quality video.
Can anybody else test this or advise on anything that could help fix it?
Surely its not the Nexus 5 specs causing the problem.
Regards,
Adam

Definitely not a hardware limitation. Maybe your internet streaming bandwidth isn't enough for HD streams?

Wait for support from xbmc to make it work on 4.4. It's just google changed a few things with regards to API's in 4.4

Think it's like poster above suggests, changes in 4.4 maybe?

Do you also have problems while watching videos that are saved on the phone or YouTube video's? I noticed some stuttering while playing video's as wel but it doesnt stem to be limited to one app.

Went through same issues with a different Snapdragon 800 device and did a lot of testing. Though not perfect monthly build version 13.0 alpha 7 appears to be the most usable of the bunch. Give this a shot:
http://mirrors.xbmc.org/snapshots/android/xbmc-13.0-Gotham_alpha7-armeabi-v7a.apk
Are you using nightly builds?
Every Chanel of xbmc has stuttering from image to sound. Gotta try the new build.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I'm using the latest nightly (xbmc-20131211-210cf9f-master-armeabi-v7a.apk) from the 11 December from http://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/xbmc/nightlies/android/arm/
Most of the add-ons do not work but I haven't had any issues with sound on video playback.
