Hey guys.
I'm loving my Nexus 5. But I use xbmc on a daily basis for streaming movies and TV shows from icefilms and navi x.
I've been trying to play some videos and every video I have played so far has cracking in the audio and the video is very stuttery. This is the same on different sources and 720p and lower quality video.
Can anybody else test this or advise on anything that could help fix it?
Surely its not the Nexus 5 specs causing the problem.
Regards,
Adam

Definitely not a hardware limitation. Maybe your internet streaming bandwidth isn't enough for HD streams?

Wait for support from xbmc to make it work on 4.4. It's just google changed a few things with regards to API's in 4.4

I've tried lower res aswell. Its the same. I've not had probs streaming HD with any other phone anyway.
Think it's like poster above suggests, changes in 4.4 maybe?

I have the same issue with my Samsung note 10.1 2014 on Google 4.3.

Do you also have problems while watching videos that are saved on the phone or YouTube video's? I noticed some stuttering while playing video's as wel but it doesnt stem to be limited to one app.

Went through same issues with a different Snapdragon 800 device and did a lot of testing. Though not perfect monthly build version 13.0 alpha 7 appears to be the most usable of the bunch. Give this a shot:
http://mirrors.xbmc.org/snapshots/android/xbmc-13.0-Gotham_alpha7-armeabi-v7a.apk
Are you using nightly builds?
Every Chanel of xbmc has stuttering from image to sound. Gotta try the new build.

I'm using the latest nightly (xbmc-20131211-210cf9f-master-armeabi-v7a.apk) from the 11 December from http://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/xbmc/nightlies/android/arm/
Most of the add-ons do not work but I haven't had any issues with sound on video playback.

As the title says, I've been having this problem for a while now although I've flashed different ROMs.
Currently running EOS 3.
Basically whenever I play any show in HD, video lags every few seconds and works fine on Large.
Anyone else having same problem or know how to improve it?
Thanks

I'm using Android official video player to run some HD videos, work really well, and for HD Movies I use BS player, works good too.

The youtube app on the 3gs has a different standard videoquality. 240p vs 320p I think.

I've been watching some YouTube on NY nexus 5 and I've been watching it on HD and it always seems to buffer and my nexus 4 never did that, I might understand if it is 1080p, is it?

Can't be 100% sure but it seems to be for me.

Pretty sure YouTube only streams to phones in 720p and only modified YouTube apps can allow 1080p playback.

Yeah there's a thread with a modified YouTube app in the Android Development section of the forums. Only thing about it is that it's the old YouTube app, not this new one.

buffering issues have very little to do with bandwidth. I get around 70mbits download and I still get hit with buffer. There are some issues with the way youtube handles traffic. I have heard of solutions involving blocking certain ip/ports and also clearing your cache uninstalling and re-installing the youtube app. It's pretty lame
This is how I noticed that my WiFi connection was always slowing to a crawl. Toggling WiFi off/on returns speeds to normal.

Mine already set to high quality but I see some grainy picture compare to Netflix. Is there any solution on this?

If you tap the settings while playing a YouTube video, an option for HD & SD is available. Maybe you already know this but I thought I'd share.

Try 4.4.2 it's much better for our device

Has anyone had an issue with SiriusXM not playing on their Nexus 5? I'm currently running Omni ROM and am not sure if it's ROM related or if SXM is just a crappy app like many of the reviews say.
Thanks in advance.
