How much internal storage is your device showing? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just checked my internal storage and it says i have 26.76Gb available on my 32Gb version. Does that seem right for a stock rom?

26.76 as well. Yes, that is about what it should be after the OS and partitioning.

yes because the os, cache, recovery need some mb.
regards

Should be pretty exactly 12.55GB for 16GB model and 26.76GB for the 32GB model

So are these partitions set in stone? Will some custom roms leave us with more space?

ROMs do not change the Partition allocation. Whether there will be methods to change the partitions, we will see. I know on the HTC desire, it was possible with a modified bootloader, but the S3 I replaced it with - not so much....

[Q] Only 1GB of internal storage?????

What's up with that ...I just went to a tmobile store to check the phone out...really sweet device...but what's going on with the internal storage of the phone?? Why only 1GB ??? On spec it says 4 GB but where is that?? Is that the same problem that the G2 was having with the internal storage????

When it's rooted it would probably be fixed by who ever the devs are. That space is probably not even accessible currently, a OTA can remedy the issue.
Wow I just noticed that and I thought it was 4GB. System error? If so what an error. So in the future the developers should get us the full 4? Nice!

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but this phone comes with 16bg and 8gb. Maybe you're confused or the seller lied to you.

No no is 32 GB (at least it was before I did the flash with odin), I bought it in Switzerland where I live.
Wrong section
I've never see the 32GB version, but in some comparison site there are all three the tablet (8,16 and 32GB)
I supposed you are very lucky if you have find 32GB version with 3G
I think only solution is to try to flash any firmware with pit file and partition check in odin that is for 32 gb tab
If you made nandroid backup restore it first before trying previous solution
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
@Giuliano1963
Flashing stock firmware using odin will solve the problem if your tablet is really 32GB version.
Stock ICS 4.0.3 (Switzerland) = http://www.hotfile.com/dl/164526052/660fbde/P3100XWALD2_P3100OXXALD4_AUT.zip.html
Check again is it really P3100 ?? Dont check in settings try to check on box or bill.
Actually there are pit files for the different versions(i.e 8,16) i think u need to use pit file for the 32 gb version.
I thank you all, unfortunately the pit 32GB can not find it

How you see 32GB in memory settings if the system and other hidden apps take at least 4GB? You can see max 28 and min 24GB with stock rom..
(And i speak about the INTERNAL MEMORY)

if its 27GB, then its normal, because android reserve the remaining space for system partitions

As far as I know, user-accessible internal memory has always been 4.5GB (roughly, don't know the exact number) out of a total of 8GB. The rest of the memory is used by the system. The same thing is true for other devices, too -- I have 11.5GB out of 16GB available on my SGS2. That's normal. If you are saying you had an access to the entire 8GB storage before the repair, I am pretty positive you are mistaken...
wow 200 bucks thats like the price of a new tab
No guys i had 16 gb memory and i could use around 11 gb of the memory. But now i can see only 4.59 gb

Ah! I am sorry, my bad -- I thought you had 8GB... If I am to make a wild guess, could it be that your mainboard got replaced in the service centre with the one having 8GB of memory? Intentionally or not, that's another question, but it's a possibility...

This is most likely the case. The technition replaced your board with an 8gb board.. If you are sure that it is a 16gb board that is replaced then I would think the only way to fix that is that the tab would have to be repartitioned back to a stock 16gb firmware. You would have to get the stock firmware (for your exact model) and use Odin to flash it back to stock. The stock firmware has the correct perameters to tell Odin how it should be partitioned.. To make sure of all this, you would first have to find out the exact serial # of the new board in your device and contact Samsung to confirm. I would emplor that you make sure before trying anything blindly.. I'm curious to know what you find. Please post back your findings? I would be glad to help further if I can.

rebuilding partitions / cm10 / low memory

I am referencing this post to try and get more info from a broader audience if possible
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544702
heres the issue:
I wiped fully my p3113 several times correctly... (data / system / cache / dalvik / etc etc)
installed latest cm10 nightly
i get only 4.59gb onboard ram (see the screenshot in the above link)
apparently the cat who wrote the threat above was able to rebuild the partition to solve this problem... my question is, how does one rebuild the partitions??? which ones need to be rebuilt? can i do it within cwm or do I have to do it within odin?
thanks!!!!!!!!!
First off, don't mix up RAM and internal storage, these are different things! What you are talking about is not RAM. Second, 4.5GB of user-accessible storage is all you get on this tab - it's normal, there is nothing wrong with that! The other thread you are linking to is about a different problem - if you read carefully, you'll see that the OP was only having 500MB available out of 4.5GB. That was the problem he fixed. You have nothing to fix, don't mess with your device.

thank you brother.... my question then is why when I have the stock rom installed does the memory show up as being 8gb internal and only 4.59 with cm10?
is cm10 actually taking up over 3gb of space? and if this is the case what is the best way to use the ext card as the memory to which I install my apps? there is nothing that I have seen that works with cm10 in the memory swap area.

I don't know much about CM, but on every version and flavour of stock ROMs that I tried on my tab (and I tried quite a few), I always got around 4.5GB of storage available. Also, this is what I recall reading from the specs somewhere. Frankly, I can't understand just how you would get 8GB reported by the system to be accessible, whether on stock, or any other ROM... On all devices, accessible internal storage is always significantly less than the total - for example, on my phone the accessible storage is only 25GB out of a total of a 32GB.
A couple of screenshots to illustrate my point (stock-based 4.1.2).
BTW, I'd like to ask anyone to provide a screenshot from any ROM on this tablet, showing a larger amount of available storage. Really, I would very much like to see that.

thank you so much for the feedback. what rom are you using and how do you not run out of space for apps? are you not using an apps to sd script or app then?

No problem. The link to the ROM I am currently using is in my signature. How I don't run out of space -- I dunno... I just don't. I am not an app junkie, and I don't install or use any games, so everything works fine for me so far. I am also not using any scripts or apps to swap int/ext SD, or to install apps on ext SD card. The biggest space hogs for me are offline maps (I use Maps With Me and Nav Free) and multimedia (photos, music, videos), and I keep those on my ext SD card.
do you have the 8gb variant or 16gb? also when your running stock rom are you using 4.2.2 jb? if so then thats why it shows up as 8gb. with previous version of the stock firmware it used to show up as split partition 4gb for system and 4gb for internal until samsung offically released 4.2.2 for the GT-p3113

Damn Samsung bastads. This was driving me insane as I just flashed mine last night and thought at first I F'ed it up, then I was going to blame the OS CM-11 for not reporting the full space. sigh this one little sentence puts me at ease. For that, I thank you :good: :highfive:

Missing 4GB of Storage

I've wiped everything in TWRP but it only shows 12,206MBs of space. How can I get the rest of the 16GB back? Thank you.

I don't have my tablet in front of me but my assumption is this is normal
You may have 16GB in advertised internal memory but this is never the case as a portion will contain firmware such as bootloader radio and the OS
Good thing you can add an sd card!
