Hope this RUU can help somebody who bought k2_u from china or etc....

thank you @snailpon
I'm currently mirroring this to help someone, I'll link this thread so they can also click thanks

will this work also for k2_ul?

No it's K2_U only
!#quote my post if you want to get my attention more quickly

You could always port it hahaha.... Seriously though... Don't
Although, today I will be taking a closer look at the partitions on each device to see which are actually universally compatible. And yes, my phone shall be the guniea pig if my findings bring confidence. If so, it may in some ways be possible to use these other variants - with modifications of course lol.

To be able to point you into the specific direction you need to provide some additional information, especially like:
- country
- branding/provider
In general you can find all available stock RUU here:

I would strongly recomment you to read, re-read and search (google or XDA) if you have questions.
Anyway the starting place is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
o S-OFF allows you to install stuff that you need by bypassing phone security.
o Recovery (e.g. ClockworkMod a.k.a CWM) allows you to install ROMs. It also allows you to do a complete (well almost) phone backup and recovery of the phone. So it's easy to get back to a prior version, Nandroid backup/recovery.
o SU gives you admin rights on the phone.
o SuperCID alows you to install any county's /carrier's ROM. e.g. debrand the phone from the shipped ROM.
There are a myriad of ROMs in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1112
Have a look at the number of replies / number of times they've been viewed to get some idea about the popularity.
You'll need to make a couple of decisions:
1: AOSP or Sense based ROMs. The stock one is Sense, pure Google Android is AOSP, they each have a different look and feel.
2: GB (Gingerbread) or ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich). ICS is the latest BUT BUT BUT needs additional steps to be performed to update the phone's firmware. I WOULD strongly suggest starting out with a GB ROM first as there is less likely to go wrong.

Surely the post immediately after your OP answered the question, or did it not ?
The other posts, including my earlier one, answered a different question. Hence the comment from another poster, sorry don't have the name, mentioned hijacking threads is not cool.

OK getting the thread back on track.
Did the post after you original one answer the your question.
If not, get the phone S-OFF'd and SuperCID then just install an appropriate RUU, then you'd get the OTA.
EDIT: or just reinstall the RUU for your county/carrier
Most people are going away from shipped ROMs here and trying different ROMs with their good and bad things.
So you mean to say that we can get HTC update with s-off and original ruu only......and u mean no need to do s-on also ????

Look, someone posted a potential solution. Someone else asked a different question (hijacked thread) which was answered.
Please explain the current situation and the attemps you've tried that have failed.
HBOOT, Recovery, Radio, ...... That info is crutial. Also what you are attempting to achieve .
i had s-off and rooted and now i have succesfully s-on and unrooted my device and now i am on official stock ruu...........my question is that can i update my phone via ota updates from htc???
I think OP is trying to ask if flashing an Asian RUU and going to S-ON will turn his T-Mobile Sensation 4G into a proper Asian handset (and therefore get OTA updates that official Asian handsets do).
I'm not sure if it would (maybe there's an IMEI check?), but I would change my CID to be what it should be for that RUU (and not leave it at supercid).
i have supercid my phone and i remain on t-mobile ruu then will i get official update
I'm actually quite curios to know the answer, if I just s-off my phone will I be receiving updates from HTC, I got the T-mobile phone and I live in the middle east, my phone does not read arabic, I'd ultimately like to install a middle east rom , but then will the official updates stop?
I don't think anyone will know until the OTA drops. My hunch is that having the right RUU and CID would mean you get the OTAs. Having supercid will probably not work, since that's essentially what identifies your region.
But putting my XDA hat on, why would you want an OTA anyway when we have legendary chefs here to get you hooked up with good roms?
btw, I tried out one of the InsertCoin ICS roms, and the Facebook app could read Arabic and Urdu properly (right-to-left with joined letters). I didn't check the browser, but it probably would have worked as well. (In GB, you'd have to patch the system libraries to get proper letter joining)
I guess you wouldn't, I just read some people commenting about having some bugs in their custom roms, so I just automatically assumed that the stock roms are at least stable. the other reason is that I'm afraid to break something
I just went through this, I had s-off with super cid and had the stock HTC Europe RUU flashed on my phone.
The phone detected an OTA update was available (an old one that was released after the RUU), but when I tried to download it, it just timed out. I reset my CID to HTC__001 and then it downloaded the update OK.
i bricked my phone while doing s-on
i know its a true brick as nothing is happining not even the charge light
can u tell me that "would this have affected my motherboard or not"????

Tell us if it has a different hboot version. The new EVO ota added a much more strict hboot, as well as added wp to more partitions. Those who accepted, that were not already s off can no longer s off, cannot flash kernals, or radios while unlocked. Is hboot updated??? A yes or no should not jeopardize your employment and could offer the community enough time to warn the members. Thus avoiding the forum being flooded with the people silly enough to accept an ota posting help me threads all over the place

Hboot isn't necessarily what's closing the exploit. Sbl is more likely.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Thank you for the clarification beaups. I wasn't trying to imply that the hboot itself will be responsible for all the added security and patches.
It would be the updated hboot that enforces Sig checks for kernal and radio flashing, right? Or is it a new hboot version because its a MAY be a newly wp partition?
(^^^^^all based on speculation that these security patches are indeed applied of course)

Dude that's impressive you've got an S-OFF'd device, what the devs have been longing for to get this device underway so to speak. Get in touch with one of the devs here they'd be very interested to hear about your device, maybe they can arrange something to figure out based on your phone how to get S-OFF for everyone...
Ah yet another thread about a magic device and this one with both CM10 and stock 4.0.4 on it. It's magic I say!
Sorry about the confusion, let me try to clear things up without telling too much. The device came with a stock 4.0.4 ROM when it was handed to me, I quickly rooted and loaded CM10 simply because I prefer that to sense. I'm not going to show a picture because I was very lucky to get this device, and I don't want to piss off anyone at HTC. As for sharing with a dev to help with s-off, if anyone wants to PM me, I'll be happy to help short of sending my device out.

How exactly does taking a picture of the bootloader have negative consequences for you? It's not like HTC is going to send a hit squad to get the phone back.
Anyway hopefully a dev can figure out how to s-off based on how yours is.

Gentleman's got a point, this is a developer forum, screenshots of unreleased devices, modded devices and S-OFF-d devices that are not supposed to be this way are common here. Heck, even if we vote this thread to feature on the Portal and it had a screenshot, HTC still wouldn't ask for the phone back. This isn't Apple blur out the rest if you want, only way to get devs attention is to post screens to prove you're legit
Ohh i got it too . I can write all of these lines. A screen shot will tell us the truth.
If u know how to flash CM 10,that means u have some knowlegde about Android, Modding things, root ....... It can't be said that HTC 'll take it back.
One more,no serial nummers, Imei, personal datas are requested to post.Just the screen of bootloader. It'll help all the dev to come near to S-OFF,which we all need.
Regards.

A screenshot will not help anyone.
Even physical access to the device will probably not help developing a method to s-off other devices.
I don't think the OP worries that HTC get angry with him, but rather with their employee or subcontractor who got him this. It doesn't matter whether or not this worry is justified.
There is no reason to doubt that it's true. This is not the first out of the box s-off device in the wild. And even if it isn't true, that's just too bad for him and nobody else.
Also, the whole thread seems a bit pointless. The OP didn't really ask anything: What kind of OneS is this? Uhm yeah...I guess he is just really happy having s-off and wants us all to be equally happy for him.
So here:
Hey groovechild, you're so lucky getting an s-off device! I'm really happy for you. :good:

S-OFF confirmed on villec2

A long time ago I saw in one post of member JCarlosPP that his phone is S-OFF.
So i send him message and today i recieve answer:
"Yes, it is S-OFF. I bought it on Ebay and I got it like that. I have no information whatsoever how to make it S-OFF."
Interesting situation, to my knowledge has not found a method about S-OFF on ville c2, at least for one who is known here on xda.
I would be grateful for your views and any additional information.
Sometimes HTC forgets to S-ON their phones before shipping. Two years ago I bought a new Sensation in a local shop and it was S-OFF right out the box. So probably he was just lucky.

Not directly but for developers it's a huge help.
Also you it won't be necessary to flash the kernel seperately. Now it can be flashed in one step. An you will be able to modify your bootloader screen (not a huge advantage) and more functions could be implemented into recobery.
And don't forget that you'll be able to get supercid and branded phones could be easily debranded.

[BOUNTY] Official Verizon RUU for HTC One M8 with S-ON

This a bounty thread for Stock Verizon only on the Verizon HTC One M8 with S-ON . I know there are people who are stuck in H boot screen and says TAMPERED, LOCKED and SECURITY WARNING. The only way out of it is by using Stock Verizon RUU.

Please do not start a cat fight in here as that would result in the thread getting locked.
I will try to update the thread on a daily basis. Do not come in here and ask when it will be done because we do not know the answer to that and you might get flamed.

This isn't something you can really bounty. Someone can't whip up a signed/encrypted ruu for you. It would need to be leaked by someone at HTC. Verizon doesn't want them doing that so they have made it harder than heck to get an official ruu. I feel bad for you but the main reason we aren't seeing them is someone would be risking their job to leak it..
