This a bounty thread for Stock Verizon only on the Verizon HTC One M8 with S-ON . I know there are people who are stuck in H boot screen and says TAMPERED, LOCKED and SECURITY WARNING. The only way out of it is by using Stock Verizon RUU.
You can post your pledges here and I will add them to OP.
Please do not send any money to anyone unless it's proved that Stock RUU on S-ON device works and made public here on xda.
Please do not start a cat fight in here as that would result in the thread getting locked.
I will try to update the thread on a daily basis. Do not come in here and ask when it will be done because we do not know the answer to that and you might get flamed.
I do own a Verizon HTC One M8 and to start things off i'm pledging USD 100

This isn't something you can really bounty. Someone can't whip up a signed/encrypted ruu for you. It would need to be leaked by someone at HTC. Verizon doesn't want them doing that so they have made it harder than heck to get an official ruu. I feel bad for you but the main reason we aren't seeing them is someone would be risking their job to leak it..

Highly doubt that. They have ways of tracking that.
Has anyone tried emailing htc to ask for one? I know it sounds pretty obvious, but what would they respond back with? One isn't available?

I guess you are right, Admins please delete this thread. I don't want someone loosing their job for this leak.
I'll have togo down the java card route as that can S-OFF and unlock bootloader from hboot. Which will then allow me to flash RUU for S-OFF.

Amazing! Sorry for doubting you. Did you happen to check if S-OFF was present before unlocking at htcdev.com? And just to be clear, you didn't run any other method beyond what's explicitly described on htcdev.com?
yes..checked it was s-on before...
I did a lot of other crap though...but it shouldn't be related...

Nah, he said it's unbranded. So it's RUNNING on AT&T's network, but it's not an AT&T phone. As HTC has said (in not so many words), AT&T's the one that doesn't want an unlocked bootloader, it may be that Rogers doesn't have the same restrictions.

But either way it shouldn't be S-OFF should it? If it was unlocked through HTCdev it would still be S-ON.

Is it at all possible that you may have used the Nexus AIO tool to try to unlock the bootloader? i say this because this section and theres have been easy to mistake if you just CTRL + F to find the phone. I found myself in the wrong forum mistakenly :| also maybe not having the ADB version different but having a different set of tools might have something. Maybe (no offense ) you mistakenly using the wrong tool might have been a godsend!!!
can you provide us with a logcat and a whole onslaught of information about what software you used and what versions they are.
Further more, i dont know if you do this but i tend to use super tool packages as a workaround from having to download the sdk and all that since the tools are included in there. if so could you send me a list of the files you added to the folders and what they are??
Thank you so much in advance
nice!
if this is all true, then please share, this will help a lot of people, has anyone else been able to do this?
and maybe i'm being dumb, but is the at&t version very different?

Hboot isn't necessarily what's closing the exploit. Sbl is more likely.

Thank you for the clarification beaups. I wasn't trying to imply that the hboot itself will be responsible for all the added security and patches.
It would be the updated hboot that enforces Sig checks for kernal and radio flashing, right? Or is it a new hboot version because its a MAY be a newly wp partition?
(^^^^^all based on speculation that these security patches are indeed applied of course)

Hi guys, I know there are a lot of posts surrounding this topic, I did search but found many outdated methods so I am curious about the most up to date method.
I am using a one X that is one HTC SDK 4.11 build number 1.85 and software 1.85
Being an iphone jailbrake guy Im not sure which one matters most. Also, Im not sure about changing the bootloader as opposed to just rooting. If I change the bootlaoder am i essentialy unocking the carrier of the phone also?
So what is the currently method to rooting the One X, thank you so much, this is a very helpful forum.
Duck
Either the manual method or the 1.85 One Click by Beups and designgears
I'd imagine the STICKIED thread in development would be your best bet. You know, the one that says it's for 1.85.

If I exchange One X for replacement tomorrow that is on 1.85 is it still going to work as long as i avoid any OTA updates OR will it require an update during the process like ive read. I think Ive read that it can be interrupted but am not sure.
Thank You

I've been scratching my head over this for months now.... Why the heck would you go back to stock? Why even be on xda if you worry about stock manufactors updates... I don't freaking get it. My pooor OneX threads are being plagued with redundant posts... Its like a sickness has infected our forum

Sent from my VENOMized HoxL
I'm glad I'm not the only one trying to figure out why everyone is trying to do the ota..like they think att brought something special to the table
I really don't understand at all. Yea, it's a new base, which may bring some quality features to something we already have. But those features will have to wait until someone bases their custom ROM on it and takes full advantage of those features. Flashing the Stock ROM will do nothing beneficial to your phone..
I've already seen someone brick their phone due to wanting to flash the Stock OTA. My advice is just wait until it's been made into a custom ROM. Would be way smarter IMO... Who knows. I'll stick to my Hatka ROM until the new ones come out.
Personally I think it's a whole mental thing. They haven't really "waited" for the release but read all the talk about att being dumb and not pushing an update so when it did release they sorta have a mental expectation it will be good (stock).
-Sugardaddy Duncan
Yeah it seems as though the threads are already starting to flood Q & A with ppl who bricked their phones who took the OTA...bummer
it's been know for that supercid will brick the phone since first jb sense roms were released,
although s-off and supercid is safe, i don't understand see why everyone isn't s-off though.
It's been proven by many that supercid and jb ota does not cause a brick.
Maybe it is related to those that can't soff until they fastboot write cid 11111111. Something whack that is causing supercid to not applied correctly for those users is happening.
I would say one of the one click tools is likely responsible for not getting supercid correctly, as many get there fine.
Supercid and jb ota is fine for most, a small number brick just the same as a small number need the extra step for soff.
Well I thought when you were doing an ota it goes through a security check and it finds 1111111 as the cid it wacks out..but the people who don't have issues doing the ota are people with s off because that bypasses security right?

That's my suspicion. But its not completely clear (at least to me) whether those with CID and were able to OTA without bricking had S-off, or not.
S-off bypasses all security checks, by definition. At least, that is my understanding.

Again, I don't think its that clear or definitive. Even if SuperCID may be causing bricks (and there is strong evidence that it does), it should be considered by anyone taking the OTA, unless proven otherwise. And possibly even a PSA warning in the General forum. But I'd like more consensus for you guys on that, before I post such a warning.

With an AT&T branded HTC One X on 4.1, should i root it now and flash basebands+kitkat roms, or should I flash 4.2.2 first?
also, are there prerequisites to update to 4.2 roms coming from 4.1?
If you take the update you won't be able to unlock the bootloader afterwards so you should do it now. There are prerequisites, check out the Evita FAQ thread in my signature.

You're not gonna get anywhere if you don't read and educate yourself. Plus, the rules of XDA state that a user must search thoroughly before asking for help, so I'm much less inclined to assist someone who is attempting to take the easy way out by just asking instead of searching. I even gave you a specific thread to check out, it doesn't get much easier than that.
Like I said though, if you ever want to unlock the bootloader and root your phone, you do not want to take that update.
