Anyone else having issues with Chrome to Phone on the Skyrocket? After connecting to my account in the app, it goes to a black screen with only the status bar visible and freezes. I have to press home multiple times and wait a few seconds for it to catch up before it lets me exit. I have wiped data and re-installed to no success.
This is on boneSTOCKeteer, (deodexed Rogers Stock).
Thanks.
It's worked fine for me on multiple ROM's. Currently SkyICS.
Try clearing program cache and a reboot?
Could be a problem on your Google end of things too. Check out your Google Chrome settings page.
No such luck. Now it seems to even have issues communicating with Google.

Doesn't seem like there is a specific forum for google voice (there probably should be)
Recently I have the most annoying of issues. Seems google voice will not open. I did the usual trouble shooting. Uninstalling google voice, deleting the data, re installing from market several times. Still has the issue where I click on the icon, it flashes up, then the app disappears. Its kind of like giving me a taste. Trouble is I am on prepaid and completely using google voice so this is essential for me.. It literally takes me about 20 times of clicking the icon for it the app to pop up and stay up.
Any thoughts on this? I have no other issues with any other apps. Well once yesterday messaging did this, but it only flashed once..
I installed an app called watchdog lite earlier this week. Thinking perhaps it was that app I added google voice to the "white list" but it wont stay up. Most annoying. I have no other task killer (ATK, etc) or anything. And actually watchdog just monitors CPU usage, will not kill apps.
Thanks!
For future reference this issue seems like a permissions fix is the solution.

When connected to wifi at my home, the orange "download" arrow is always on. I've had this phone for 6 months with no issue, but all of a sudden this started happening yesterday (right after the phone also fried my external SD card). I have tried resetting the router, turning off all computers/devices in the house, and returning to stock/installing a new ROM, but it's always the same. I installed a traffic monitoring app and within a few minutes there has been 300+ KB of "system traffic," which doesn't exactly help me.
There's a few topics around XDA and other sites about this, but almost all of them are from the ICS days. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this on JB and if they ever found a solution.
Could you capture it in a screenshot and post it?

Yes.
Hmm, wonder what that could be. And you say it doesn't go away? Even after a reboot or if you toggle wifi off/on? In Settings/Account, do you have any sync option that hasn't finished a sync? It would have an arrow going in a circle which means it needs to sync or there would be an exclamation mark. Basically, each option should just have the name on the left and either a checked box or unchecked box to the right.

It does go away... kind of. Basically, the orange "download" arrow is showing about 80% of the time (I'd estimate 8 out of every 10 seconds). The green "upload" arrow appears briefly; probably half a second for every 10 seconds.
I've rebooted many times and turned wifi on/off many times. Nothing changes. Stock ROM, CleanROM, Synergy, etc... no difference.
In settings->accounts, I only have Dropbox (sync disabled), Facebook (sync disabled), and Google (all options either have checkmarks or no checkmarks; there are no rotating arrows or red exclamation marks).

Do you think setting your wifi to a static IP address would affect anything? Also, do you mind taking screenshots at various points in the day using that wifi scanning app you used earlier? Maybe a screenshot every four hours then post them tomorrow or the day after you read this post so we can see if anything is constantly using up the most data. Another off the cuff suggestion, do you use Picasa Sync at all? I'm thinking this is either an app specific issue or something with your specific router.
Edit: Also, I never actually look at my download arrow when I'm connected to wifi. I just want to get that out there as well. I just stared at it for about a minute and my download arrow lights up once every 5 to 8 seconds when I have auto sync enabled. So if ten seconds pass, it will be unlit for roughly four to six seconds quite often. This should be a baseline I suppose to compare.

I could take screenshots periodically, but unfortunately the wifi scanning app only lists everything as "system data" without any specifics. I don't use Picasa Sync or anything like that, but I'm thinking it could be a router issue rather than an app issue.
There are at least 7 devices usually connected to my router. Out of curiosity, I changed the router password to kick off all devices and just connected with my phone. The wifi downloading issue appeared to be gone, and it was closer to that baseline of "every 5 to 8 seconds" as you mentioned. Once all the other devices reconnect, the issue comes back.
Is it possible that some device on my network is causing the router to constantly send a signal to my phone? That's the only idea I have at this point.
I am having the same problem with my S3. The orange arrow goes off and on about every 3-4 seconds. Every once in awhile, the green arrow lights up too. I get horrible battery life on wifi because of this. I have tried wiping my phone, reinstalling a rom, and not installing any apps. The only thing I have installed, is Gmail and my Google account. I'm losing about 4% per hour when connected to wifi while the phone is sleeping.

I've tried everything as well with no change. Sometimes the orange arrow will literally never turn off and other times it will go on and off every few seconds. Battery does seem worse since this randomly started.
But it doesn't look like anyone knows a solution
You might have some apps or accounts at up to only sync when in wifi and that certain one might always be trying to sync but is failing. I do recall someone saying something from Google was trying to sync. Go to settings, accounts, and select Google and see if they are all syncing correctly.

I only have Gmail and Calender syncing in the Google account. Both are syncing correctly.

Yes it is possible. I've read before that one's email app (not GMail but the generic one included) could also be the culprit. In some workplaces, sometimes a rooted users email could be the root cause of instability on the wireless network if it pings the server too often which could impact the network for others. I know this happens to you at home but yes, it is possible that one phone (or even yours) could impact everyone else's wireless in a similar fashion.

Only thing I could suggest is to try setting your wifi as a static IP.
Since the ota, if i am in google messenger and use Google voice to speak a text, close Messenger and open it back up later, the Google Voice screen pops up and will not go away till i reboot. .Booted into recovery and cleared cache and that didn't work.
It's happened to me a couple of times. But a quick reboot solves the problem. I've found its Google keyboard itself getting hung up.

If you click Recents and swipe everything away it normally fix's it with out a reboot.
This is a glitch with the actual Google app from what I have seen. Customer had it on a Note 4 haven't seen it on the Note 5 yet but the only fix we saw was to force stop the Google app.... Which is a pain to do all the time. We uninstalled the Google app update and it fixed it then updated it again and it came back. Tried it with different keyboards.... In the end then fix is to uninstall and turn auto update off till it gets fixed by yet another Google update

Chance it might not come back but it could just be your setup. Since obviously not everyone is having it but some are. Mine has yet to do it. I will try to cause it. Before it was caused over and over by using the speech on ANY keyboard that uses Google for voice recognition and then lock the screen after it types a word of what you said. Open the Phone back and it should be stuck.
UPDATE: Yea I can't make mine do it but anyone who had that issue I did those steps and it replicated.

Trying to turn on the "Ok Google" voice activation option... but I can't get it to work.
I've attached a couple screen shots. I hit the agree button on that first screen and it takes me to the second and just stays there. Nothing ever happens.
Any ideas?
I ended up force stopping the Google app and then doing the retraining. Works fine now.

I had to do something similar, but I think I disabled the Google app, then re-enabled it. (Which also would have stopped and started it, I guess.) I think it happened because the first time through setup I canceled the voice training without finishing it (was in a noisy environment). When I went back to it later, it froze on that screen.
yup... y'all are correct. i stopped google and i actually cleared the data (not sure that was necessary). worked just fine after. thanks!
