I know right?
I'm deciding if I want to take the plunge. Only thing enticing to me is the nav button backlighting turns off when viewing video.
And the faster 4G to send a screen shot to my bestie to brag.

So far, I like it.
4G is about twice as fast, camera is noticeably improved and touchless seems totally flawless.
This is the best phone on the market right now.
Just like mentioned, connection is a lot better/faster and noticeable improvements on the camera.

The only complaint I have seen so far is that you can now activate the Google Now arc by dragging up from any of the capacitive buttons. It used to be just the home button. Many people apparently are hitting the back or recent apps buttons and accidentally dragging up, causing the phone to do the Google Now arc rather than back or show recent apps.
I have noticed that about the Google arc... Its annoying to me that I have to be more precise with my button pounding
Also my screen has randomly been shutting off as if the timeout is set at 15-20 sec (actually set at 5min.) Turns on with no lag once I hit the power button. Like I said it seems random to me. Anyone else see this?

I haven't had another random reboot since the update.

The camera is consistently good which was my biggest complaint before. In addition my data seems to have improved at my desk. I had been getting around 5 mpbs now I am getting close to 14 consistently. Thats about all I have really noticed. I miss 4.3 and its better location services from my gnex, but hopefully kitkat will be here soon.
PS the google now arc appears more often. until I read this thread i didnt realize it was because of the update. Have not noticed the capacitive lights either, but it sounds like a plus.
Everything seems fine to me. I havent really noticed any changes. My 4G was always pretty good. I havent used the camera enough to say anything about that yet. I havent noticed the google now arc at all.
My only complaint is the google arc everything else is positive. I don't think the arc will be in 4.4 anyway google now is on the left screen when you swipe on the stock launcher I believe.

I have noticed more time without signal with the latest update.
Also, the bigger problem is that the car mount no longer charges the phone. All other chargers work just fine, but for whatever reason, the car mount doesn't charge anymore. It senses it still and knows it's in the car, but uses battery instead of charges.

Same exact issue here. I usually hold my device with my thumb somewhere around light sensor. Well ever since update, the screen will autolock after a few seconds if I hold it that way. Very annoying

I'm not real happy with the "improved" wireless charging. It won't connect to my Tylt charger as consistently as it did before, so it's randomly disconnecting/reconnecting. This is especially annoying since I charge my phone on my nightstand at night. That coupled with there being no discernible way to turn off the WirelessChargingStarted sound, I have had to take my phone off the charger in the middle of the night every night since the update as it keeps waking me up.

Mine has always seemed kind of loose. I will have to keep an eye on it. The build quality of this phone is nothing near that of my Nexus.

Actually this is not the first incident. I read about it on pocketnow.com and brushed it off because my rocker was only crooked, loose, or whatever you'd like to call it. Never did I think I would have this issue. Normally I'm with the vast majority of people who don't have problems but this time I got the short straw. I'm by no means rough with my phones so the "how" is actually pretty irrelevant.

examining the phone i dont see how you could of loss that with out opening your phone because its cradle down like all phones oh well your the first
The fact that any part of this phone can just fall out is inexcusable for a premium device. Sure, it could have happened when I was swapping memory cards this morning but the fact of the matter is that it can (and does) happen. At least maybe now people can learn to watch out for this type of event through my misfortune.

ok i just seen the article you were talking about on http://pocketnow.com/android/htc-sensation-volume-rocker-fail ill keep my eye on it thanks for your post
I once lost a screw to something (think it was a Playstation 2 controller) and about 3 weeks after losing it, I found it.
A volume rocker is not small enough to disappear, and if you lost it while changing your SD card, well, it's probably where you were changing it

I think I'll try my luck with going into a store and seeing if they have any returned handsets. If so, they normally don't have a problem giving the back cover away. I don't foresee calling T-Mobile doing me any good whatsoever. I just hope that this turns out to a fairly simple task...but I am disappointed with HTC's design now. Their products are normally second to none in my opinion.

My power button has sunk in, I hope it won't popout like your rocker. The back cover with it's bad aignal, wifi bug, lack of dust protection and faulty buttons, is turning in to a nightmare. I hope they are working on a new back cover or some one makes a 3rd party alternative.

You know, I was a very happy Sensation owner. I completely disregarded the fact that my first unit had a crooked power button and exchanged it for another with a crooked volume rocker. I figured it wouldn't be that big of a deal since I don't mess with the volume nearly as much as I lock/unlock the phone. What started making me choose the G2x over the Sensation was that I had both phones side by side yesterday and was curious about the wifi issue. The Sensation picked up and dropped the signal constantly whereas the G2x held onto it with full signal. The Sensation also was terrible with collecting dust in the case and that concerned me as well. Now, the volume rocker falling out sealed the fate of the Sensation. In the end, I have decided I will take software bugs over hardware. I don't have many of the G2x issues so I can wait it out. The good news is that my friend at T-Mobile told me to go to her store on Monday and she will give me a new back cover. I hope everyone watches this more and more because I'm sure this will become a bigger issue soon.

I seriously doubt it becoming any issue at all. I have 3 batteries total and NEVER plug my phone in. So basically I swap batteries that are charged only, opening and closing the case each time. I have done this dozens upon dozens of times with no issue at all, even upon reading this I intentionally tried to maul the rocker and nothing happned. Either way its a bummer YOU lost it, but call tmobile or HTC and tell them what you feel about the quality. Tell them they have let you down and your upset with spending that much for a device defective rocker/case. Goodluck.

Ok so i have tried many battery saver apps and have come to the conclusion that most of them are a joke. Until i tried BatteryXL. With a bit of setup this app has give me over 20 hours of life with use. I am talking about web surfing, texting, gaming, calls and some picture taking. I use my phone a lot and it just would not make it half the day. I even tried an extended battery. But even that sucked. Juice defender isn't bad if you buy the pro version, but BatteryXL is free. There have been a few glitches , as it is still in beta, but they are very minor and didn't effect its usage. So if anyone is looking for an app to help with battery life try it and see how it works for you. I am no way affiliated with the creators of this app. I am just a big fan of it and i know how many evo user complain about battery life. Also if you want to know i am using Sinister rom version 7 and anthrax kernel 009. The rom and kernel you use will affect how much this app helps.
Again i have no affiliation with the make of this app so don't ask me if you have issues. Submit then to the maker.
EDIT: If you don't have an intelligent thing to say, then do the world a favor and keep your mouth shut. The air is polluted enough as it is

Yea I've tried using this app but it just doesn't work like juice defender... this app doesn't auto sync 3rd party email apps or twitcaster... juice defender makes it possible to sync specific apps during a specific time frame to resync information while the screen is off.. I haven't seen this app (battery XL) do that at all...

What does this app do exactly..? In what ways does it save battery... does it lower cpu usage or does it disconnect wireless connections when not in use or what..?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Like most battery savers out there it controls connections and other features. But unlike most others this one actually does help get you more battery life. Before using this app i would only get about 12 hours total before I needed to charge. Now as you can see from above I get about double that.
@OP.
prior to using this app, were you one of those (like me) who always turn off unnecessary radios and services manually? Cuz I've always done that, and if this app makes an effect beyond that, I might be interested.
But I prefer to do it manually, myself (not to mention, due to OCD, I would always turn off radios manually). Are you not in that camp?
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
No. I can't say I am. I never remember to turn them off so this app is great for me. It does have some other cool stuff. Check it out is all I can say. It is free. So if you don't like it you aren't out anything.
Simply put, the app sucks. Sucks bad. The concept is good, but the app, it sucks

Hi, so ever since ICS, or at least SCv7 (not sure if it did it stock, I switched right away), my screen has bee completely killing my battery
I still get perfectly fine life with the screen off, but it just drops right down with it on even not doing anything to heavy. Definitely a problem not normal.
Anyone have any ideas? Is this happening to anyone else?

What are your screen settings at (levels, auto on/off, etc)? Screen is by far the biggest drain on battery. Check my Battery Guide, last Page for an app mentioned to lower brightness more than the stock settings will allow for- maybe that would help in certain instances. I haven't tried it myself, but will be doing so over the weekend, and if beneficial I will update the OP with it.
My SGS3 is the same as my A2 being that the screen gobbled up battery like crazy. So, I suppose you're not alone, at least with what I've experienced.
Not sure if any of this is helpful, but thought I'd share my thoughts...

I keep it on auto or low all the time. this is definitely a real problem, because it was nowhere near as bad on GB. now I know they fixed the cell standby issue, but I can literally see the battery go right on down when I turn it on. 3-4 hours on would kill it.
Maybe try with auto off for a while, see if you notice any difference.

Looking at your battery's discharge rate graph, looks pretty normal. There's no drastic drops in battery, it's fairly linear in discharge, and even if the screen is using most of that. However, there could be other culprits. What about sync, or haptic, or any of the other things I outlined in my guide? WiFi is off, from what I saw, but might not just be the screen. Have you tried editing build prop for "deeper" deep sleep or edits to other things? I'm going to update my OP with a few more things I thought of for improving overall battery life this weekend. Maybe some of the new ones will help...

Why don't you try the app betterbatterystats it's here in xda:

This may help to see the real problem of the fast battery drain you said, also you can install the app rootDim from the playstore to custom your screen brightness.

Really? I have yet to see anyone on the leak get their CPU to actually go to sleep. Uptimes and real uptimes are always identical. The CPU doesn't sleep......ever. I have an extended battery and have a setCPU profile to WAY underclock it when the screen times out, but the CPU never truly goes to sleep. I am managing, but it is going through my battery life faster than normal (even in airplane mode it drains).

Okay, I've just noticed this the past couple of days, but when I look into my battery usage I notice that wifi is getting turned on by itself at some point during the day and remaining on for a little while.
I rarely use wifi, so it shouldn't be turning itself on, I also checked to make sure none of the smart actions crap was activating it, no wifi direct or anything of the sort either. I'll include some screen shots. Running completely stock ICS, most recent OTA update.
Does anyone have an idea of why this is happening and what I can do to stop it? Thanks.
UPDATE:
After one day on the official jelly bean ota update I'm still having this issue. More screen shots included.

As you can see, it's staying on even longer now.

For some additional information, for the last 3 days I have noticed that, from the graph, it seems to be happening at the same time, for 5 hours precisely each day. Is this just something I might be overlooking?

My phone seems to do this also but it's random and doesn't stay on as long as yours does. Do you by chance have Smart Actions on to turn on your WiFi or have the Auto-Connect setting checked in your WiFi settings?

I checked both the smart actions and the wifi auto-connect. Both have always been disabled.

Well I'm afraid I'm out of suggestions. It might be a bug that's addressed in the JB update due this week.

Alright. Thanks. Hopefully it's fixed in the update.

For some reason my wifi displays like it has a weak signal in the notification bar, but as you can see it's fine.
Been like this for a few days, not sure why.

I've seen that happen on my phone also. A reboot usually fixes it.
I got the JB update last night and my WiFi still periodically turns itself on.

I have not yet received the update, so I can't tell anything. But when I check my battery usage during the time that it's on I have nothing about wifi in the notification bar, always says I have a 3G data connection. And it seems to only do it when I have the screen off for long periods of time, usually during school. So maybe if my phone is going into deep sleep that has something to do with it?
I guess I'm gonna wait for the JB update before I call Verizon and see if they maybe know about this bug and will ship me a new razr...

I'm thinking about giving them a call or a visit soon. I have some other issues with my WiFi that I can't seem to figure out. I'll try to remember to post back if I find out anything.

Okay, thanks. I'm actually downloading the JB soak to install right now. I'll update with some more screen shots, results etc. After a couple of days on it.

I updated the thread with my results after most of my first day on JB. Also (and I'll feel really stupid if this was the problem all along) just today I noticed I had android beam on, but that's just NFC right? Wifi direct was set to off, so it should he fine, but just a thought.
I've also told my phone to "forget" all wifi networks, since it is doing it suspiciously only when I'm at school and I have connected to the school's wifi network before. Even though this should NOT be a problem anyway, since auto connect is off. Who knows, maybe that will be a temp fix for this weird bug.
By the way, thanks all, it's always reassuring when I'm not the only one with a problem

Geez, that's definitely not normal.
If you look at my screen shot, it almost seems like my wifi turns on when the GPS is activated (I leave GPS on). I wonder if turning off all location services will solve this. I'm about to try it now.

Setting all location services off didn't seem to make much difference

Okay, I think I've at least figured out what my problem was. Don't know if it will help with yours. When I went in and told it to forget all of my wifi networks it stopped having problems. I think it must have been trying to connect to the school's wifi even though every wifi related setting was turned off... Must be a bug. So that was my problem, I'd give that a shot if you haven't already. I'll include a screen shot of it working.
It didn't save me as much battery as I thought it would, but it's an improvement. Hope I could help.

Hmm, thanks, I'll give it a try.
