Okay, I've just noticed this the past couple of days, but when I look into my battery usage I notice that wifi is getting turned on by itself at some point during the day and remaining on for a little while.
I rarely use wifi, so it shouldn't be turning itself on, I also checked to make sure none of the smart actions crap was activating it, no wifi direct or anything of the sort either. I'll include some screen shots. Running completely stock ICS, most recent OTA update.
Does anyone have an idea of why this is happening and what I can do to stop it? Thanks.
UPDATE:
After one day on the official jelly bean ota update I'm still having this issue. More screen shots included.

For some additional information, for the last 3 days I have noticed that, from the graph, it seems to be happening at the same time, for 5 hours precisely each day. Is this just something I might be overlooking?

My phone seems to do this also but it's random and doesn't stay on as long as yours does. Do you by chance have Smart Actions on to turn on your WiFi or have the Auto-Connect setting checked in your WiFi settings?

Well I'm afraid I'm out of suggestions. It might be a bug that's addressed in the JB update due this week.

For some reason my wifi displays like it has a weak signal in the notification bar, but as you can see it's fine.
Been like this for a few days, not sure why.

I've seen that happen on my phone also. A reboot usually fixes it.
I got the JB update last night and my WiFi still periodically turns itself on.

I have not yet received the update, so I can't tell anything. But when I check my battery usage during the time that it's on I have nothing about wifi in the notification bar, always says I have a 3G data connection. And it seems to only do it when I have the screen off for long periods of time, usually during school. So maybe if my phone is going into deep sleep that has something to do with it?
I guess I'm gonna wait for the JB update before I call Verizon and see if they maybe know about this bug and will ship me a new razr...

Okay, thanks. I'm actually downloading the JB soak to install right now. I'll update with some more screen shots, results etc. After a couple of days on it.
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2
I updated the thread with my results after most of my first day on JB. Also (and I'll feel really stupid if this was the problem all along) just today I noticed I had android beam on, but that's just NFC right? Wifi direct was set to off, so it should he fine, but just a thought.
I've also told my phone to "forget" all wifi networks, since it is doing it suspiciously only when I'm at school and I have connected to the school's wifi network before. Even though this should NOT be a problem anyway, since auto connect is off. Who knows, maybe that will be a temp fix for this weird bug.
By the way, thanks all, it's always reassuring when I'm not the only one with a problem
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2
Geez, that's definitely not normal.
If you look at my screen shot, it almost seems like my wifi turns on when the GPS is activated (I leave GPS on). I wonder if turning off all location services will solve this. I'm about to try it now.
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using xda app-developers app
Setting all location services off didn't seem to make much difference
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using xda app-developers app
Okay, I think I've at least figured out what my problem was. Don't know if it will help with yours. When I went in and told it to forget all of my wifi networks it stopped having problems. I think it must have been trying to connect to the school's wifi even though every wifi related setting was turned off... Must be a bug. So that was my problem, I'd give that a shot if you haven't already. I'll include a screen shot of it working.
It didn't save me as much battery as I thought it would, but it's an improvement. Hope I could help.

I can tell you that I have noticed that a lot of the servers have been down lately.
However, I have noticed that when you get the WIFI error (IE: server is down) make sure to select "Skip setup for now" and select the "next" button. If you don't the system updates application will kinda just stick on that screen. Even when you change servers. You need to do the above to completely get out of system updates so you can start over with a new server.
Or so I have noticed.

Basic functionality is just fine. There are some extra apps he threw in that are interesting. Speed and responsiveness are great. I'm using holo launcher for the first time for any period of time so i cant report on much else until im more familiar with its resource needs. I do use the drop down toggles alot as my phones wifi messes with my media server for some unknown reason. Dave2 doesn't have them but of course there is an app.

It is not cheesecake that checks the build.prop, it is the andriod update checker that does it.
VIA Jim in cheesecake build.prop post in (q) section. Last line is what im going by.
You MUST "appear" as stock to both the update check app that chesecake calls, and to the updater script when we really have an update. As said the fxz is the best start point, for a true real production OTA.

I'm certain that rom or build.prop doesn't matter. They're all based off of the stock kernel and baseband, and most likely when you request an update it sends an string similar to the 'uname -a' command and checks it against whatever version is available. Hence the reason you'll see an "update not needed' message.
Would be interesting to sniff the update packet and see what data is being sent, then maybe we could automate the process. Anyway, just my thought about cheesecake.

Hi, so ever since ICS, or at least SCv7 (not sure if it did it stock, I switched right away), my screen has bee completely killing my battery
I still get perfectly fine life with the screen off, but it just drops right down with it on even not doing anything to heavy. Definitely a problem not normal.
Anyone have any ideas? Is this happening to anyone else?
P.S. Thanks for the new Q and A section by the way.

What are your screen settings at (levels, auto on/off, etc)? Screen is by far the biggest drain on battery. Check my Battery Guide, last Page for an app mentioned to lower brightness more than the stock settings will allow for- maybe that would help in certain instances. I haven't tried it myself, but will be doing so over the weekend, and if beneficial I will update the OP with it.
My SGS3 is the same as my A2 being that the screen gobbled up battery like crazy. So, I suppose you're not alone, at least with what I've experienced.
Not sure if any of this is helpful, but thought I'd share my thoughts...

I keep it on auto or low all the time. this is definitely a real problem, because it was nowhere near as bad on GB. now I know they fixed the cell standby issue, but I can literally see the battery go right on down when I turn it on. 3-4 hours on would kill it.
Maybe try with auto off for a while, see if you notice any difference.

Looking at your battery's discharge rate graph, looks pretty normal. There's no drastic drops in battery, it's fairly linear in discharge, and even if the screen is using most of that. However, there could be other culprits. What about sync, or haptic, or any of the other things I outlined in my guide? WiFi is off, from what I saw, but might not just be the screen. Have you tried editing build prop for "deeper" deep sleep or edits to other things? I'm going to update my OP with a few more things I thought of for improving overall battery life this weekend. Maybe some of the new ones will help...

i have 2nd system as MIUI from "rdavisct" when i switch to it & come back to ICS
then my battery calibration scrambles ... i did switchin yesterday & it showed me
30% far early than expected
Same problem here..my screen draining 57%
Why don't you try the app betterbatterystats it's here in xda:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15869868
This may help to see the real problem of the fast battery drain you said, also you can install the app rootDim from the playstore to custom your screen brightness.
I hope this helps.

Really? I have yet to see anyone on the leak get their CPU to actually go to sleep. Uptimes and real uptimes are always identical. The CPU doesn't sleep......ever. I have an extended battery and have a setCPU profile to WAY underclock it when the screen times out, but the CPU never truly goes to sleep. I am managing, but it is going through my battery life faster than normal (even in airplane mode it drains).

Go to settings - Battery, and look to see what is eating all of your battery... Plus check your screen on time...
If nothing looks out of place then if you recently took the JB OTA i suggest doing a factory reset. It seems to help people with similar issues.
How long have you had the device? I personally treat new devices just as I would when flashing a new Rom build. Trying to not judge battery life until its been setup and used for a few days.

That was the only time I ever hit 7. I average about 4 1/2 hours of screen on time. 3 1/2 seems a but low to me but it all depends on what you're running. Plus if you have a weak 4g signal that can seriously hurt a battery.

I bought the phone about 2days and I`m not happy with battery by now... And I set the smart actions to save battery..
(At the first moment with the phone, flashed Retail LATAM with RSD Lite)
Well.. I`ll wait for a few days..!
4 hours of screen time is about the average for most people, which is way more than most androids. The galaxy nexus I remember was only about 2.5 hours. I've had the phone last me about 2 days on one charge, but again, 4ish hours of screen time. If you sit with the screen on non stop for 4 hours, the phones dead. You'll lose barely anything just sitting idle
I have the RAZR Maxx HD. I'm at 4 1/2 hours of on screen time with 35% of charge left. I'm happy with the phone so far. I've had it for a week now.

Why would a factory reset brick you? Whoever told you that is wrong. Also you can go back to ICS. Pretty sure there is a France 4.0.4 fast boot file in the development section.

on some french forum people were talking about brick bug on jb... not sure if its true
should I try a factory reset?
I did after the JB update. I can't say for 100% that there is no "brick bug" for you guys but that sounds very unlikely to me.

I'm pretty sure the "brick bug" was an issue with the JB leak, not the final.

How did that one member get 7hrs screen time? My XT925 has "slightly" better battery life than my old HTC One X with CM10. I was expecting it to be a noticeable difference!
I'm running a CM10 now on the XT925 and it's a bit better but on the stock Moto Firmware it was pretty bad. I'm on my 5th or full cycle on the battery.
I got 7 hours because I didn't do anything but gtalk, text and check the forums once or twice. I was on WiFi too.

Still no matter what you're doing just havin the screen on for that long will tax your battery. I'm still out on the battery life on this phone. My HTC One X has a much smaller battery but lasts about the same (1800mAh vs 2530mAh).
How's everyone liking the update? Good things? Bad things? Bugs? No noticeable difference?

I know right?
I'm deciding if I want to take the plunge. Only thing enticing to me is the nav button backlighting turns off when viewing video.
And the faster 4G to send a screen shot to my bestie to brag.

So far, I like it.
4G is about twice as fast, camera is noticeably improved and touchless seems totally flawless.
This is the best phone on the market right now.
Just like mentioned, connection is a lot better/faster and noticeable improvements on the camera.

The only complaint I have seen so far is that you can now activate the Google Now arc by dragging up from any of the capacitive buttons. It used to be just the home button. Many people apparently are hitting the back or recent apps buttons and accidentally dragging up, causing the phone to do the Google Now arc rather than back or show recent apps.
I have noticed that about the Google arc... Its annoying to me that I have to be more precise with my button pounding
Also my screen has randomly been shutting off as if the timeout is set at 15-20 sec (actually set at 5min.) Turns on with no lag once I hit the power button. Like I said it seems random to me. Anyone else see this?

I haven't had another random reboot since the update.

The camera is consistently good which was my biggest complaint before. In addition my data seems to have improved at my desk. I had been getting around 5 mpbs now I am getting close to 14 consistently. Thats about all I have really noticed. I miss 4.3 and its better location services from my gnex, but hopefully kitkat will be here soon.
PS the google now arc appears more often. until I read this thread i didnt realize it was because of the update. Have not noticed the capacitive lights either, but it sounds like a plus.
Everything seems fine to me. I havent really noticed any changes. My 4G was always pretty good. I havent used the camera enough to say anything about that yet. I havent noticed the google now arc at all.
My only complaint is the google arc everything else is positive. I don't think the arc will be in 4.4 anyway google now is on the left screen when you swipe on the stock launcher I believe.

I heard that launcher is going to be exclusive to the nexus 5. I hope so. I tried it on Ultra and wasn't a fan.

Having major issues with proximity sensor. Can't type on phone in landscape or screen shuts off. Very strange.

I have noticed more time without signal with the latest update.
Also, the bigger problem is that the car mount no longer charges the phone. All other chargers work just fine, but for whatever reason, the car mount doesn't charge anymore. It senses it still and knows it's in the car, but uses battery instead of charges.

Same exact issue here. I usually hold my device with my thumb somewhere around light sensor. Well ever since update, the screen will autolock after a few seconds if I hold it that way. Very annoying

I'm not real happy with the "improved" wireless charging. It won't connect to my Tylt charger as consistently as it did before, so it's randomly disconnecting/reconnecting. This is especially annoying since I charge my phone on my nightstand at night. That coupled with there being no discernible way to turn off the WirelessChargingStarted sound, I have had to take my phone off the charger in the middle of the night every night since the update as it keeps waking me up.

I have had my first reboot since installing. Seems less responsive to touch commands. Not happy with this upgrade.

Omg my touchless controls seem more sensitive than ever! Any time I say "ok" loudly followed by another word it launches. Generally am Googling "Whatever" a lot and hearing the definition. It's quite funny. Ok whatever!
