Andiroxu Kernel (Latest - v3.4.69) [Updated-15.11.13] - Micromax A110

I think it would be good to have a discussion thread on Andiroxu Kernels, as most of us are using it in our Android 4.2 roms. His development thread is under investigation, so PLEASE DO NOT POST any KERNEL DOWNLOAD LINK HERE.
This thread is just to keep track of the updates and user experience of Andiroxu's latest kernels.
@andiroxu bro it would be good if you can post ur updates here, not the download link, just mention if it is available and maybe reply to user queries on your kernel.. :good:
We all owe it to you for making Android 4.2 possible with such advanced kernels...! Thanks a lot for your contribution. :highfive::victory:

Changelog or Tips for kernel:
v3.4.69rc1:
andiroxu said:
Yes, its true that problem lies somewhere in framework if Turbo ROMs. I'm too late user like @ibshar to use 4.2.x and just using it from last three days. I have not found any problem of app installing. I would request ROM cookers and developers to kindly look into issue.
Just give reviews about v3.4.69-rc1. It would feel good to me listen about it something. I will be updating it in future with stable release patches too like ec2, rc4 and so on till a mainline upstream patch is released. This time I modified binder.c along the update patches by Linux developers. You can know more about binder from Google and it is responsible for IPC. So responsiveness among process increases and hence multitasking. I too modified lowmemorykiller to work for 6 slots and not for 4 slots which was default. It means you will get immediate free and more free RAM when process leaves memory and too when memory starts decreasing.
Sorry sweep2wake feature cannot be included on MTK. I tried number of thing but totally failed. Even headset button problem I found after deep investigation is not with the kernel but with the Android JB framework and architecture. So to make it working needs ROM sources which you all know are not still available.
This time I changed CPU frequency governor to sakuractive and I/O scheduler to fiop as per @==vj== suggestions and experience. Also cpufreq is kind of modified for locking and unlocking min and max frequency rapidly.

Moreover this time I have applied number of things in source code to make it more smooth and power efficient. This time cifs and NTFS are working flawlessly. I think one should check /sys/modules/lowmemorykiller/parameters folder. You will find 10 parameters instead of 6. There are few parameters for managing your RAM like whitelist for user and system processes. If someone wants to lock some process always in memory then it or they can be named here and they will never be killed.
Also see /sys/devices/system/cpu/sched_mc_power_saving which can be used for group tasks into least core possible for saving more power. Set values to 0 to 2. 0 for disable, 1 for in one core and 2 for in two cores.

Few things i can see are:
USB OTG Fixed
Init.d working
256MB swap in cache partition

Sorry for to be late here. Thanks to @ibshar for creating a discussion thread.
I would recommend people also to use 4.1.x kernel which is more smooth than 4.2.x for 4.1.x ROMs. I'm personally on stock 4.1.1 ROM with my 4.1.x 3.4.68 kernel which I love the most.

I'm on dark nexus rom and I feel 3.4.0 is more stable than later versions... I have tried 3.4.5, 3.4.69 etc but those versions don't give stable performance like 3.4.0.

@andiroxu : Thanks for the secrets.
I wanted to ask that there is a default 256mb swap script in tht init.d folder of this kernel, but when i check my memory it shows Swap as 0. any idea why?
Code:

total used free shared buffers
Mem: 471 449 22 0 0

@ibshar. I think you downloaded my in-hurry uploaded version. Actually after sometime I re-uploaded the kernel. The previous was not having init.d support and this is the reason you are getting 0 swap space. Try new one.

Hey, @andiroxu
M using your kernel 3.4.68 ONE.
I have a request from you that please add the headphone button music track control feature in your kernels.
I myself have experienced that because of kernel the headphone button in music is not working.
However, it was working on ICS to where the kernel was 3.0 and since the kernel is updated, that function is gone.
This function is somewhere more used than OTG, I feel this coz it depends on user to user.
But almost everyone uses headphone to listen music and this feature is very helpful.
Its my request to you, if possible than release a kernel that support headphone button. For 4.1 & 4.2 both.
Thanks in advance...

[Kernel] Samsung Galaxy R (i9103) [OC][UV][ROOT] Kernel (Updated 2011-11-16 15GMT)

Well, so far, we don't have a separate forum for Galaxy R (i9103) so I need to put in here...
OK, the kernel is ready. I have tested it using Quadrant benchmark, CF-Bench and continuous playing of asphalt6 & dungeon hunter 2 for hours. Smooth and without causing much heat
Below are the details of the kernel:
Features
=======
- For Samsung Galaxy R (i9103) only
- Based on Samsung open source, kernel version 2.6.36.3
- Added new frequencies: 1200 & 1300Mhz
- Setting of max 1300Mhz through SetCPU
- All stock frequencies are untouched: 216-1000Mhz
- Expose the voltage settings to be set through SetCPU
- Limit the boot up frequencies to be 216-1000 to avoid unstable boot up
- Simple IO Scheduler
- 2.6.36.4 patches
- Speed up framebuffer copy
- memory copy macros and functions fine tune
- Misc. kernel fixes
- Rooted (embedded su & Superuser.apk)

Q & A
=====
Q: How to flash the kernel
A: Just flash the .tar file using Odin3 PDA (the same as flashing most of Samsung's android phone). Easily search xda forum for Odin3 and how to use it (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1262272)
Q: Will it delete all my applications, settings or files?
A: No. (should be..) It is a kernel, not ROM, therefore, nothing would be deleted
Q: What version of ROM is supported?
A: Kernel version is 2.6.36.3, it is proved to work on 2.3.4/2.3.5/2.3.6 ROM
Q: I don't need overclock (OC), can you make a non-overclock kernel?
A: The kernel itself supports max. of 1300Mhz. It doesn't mean that you need to operate in such frequencies. You can freely set your frequencies using SetCPU (for example, you can set 216/216 when screen off, and 216/1000). In such case, no OC will occur
Q: Will I be rooted after flashing this kernel?
A: Yes. I have modified the kernel to make it embedded with su & Superuser.apk
Q: How stable is OC? Will the battery drain fast? Will the phone get hot?
A: For 1200Mhz, it is quite stable. For 1300Mhz, I have experienced 1 program FC. Apart from that, I am using 216-1300Mhz for daily use and it is quite stable. Tested with asphalt6 and dungeon hunter 2 for over an hour, no FC occurs. Also, the battery doesn't feel hot (it is the advantage of tegra2 CPU )
Q: How can I revert back to the stock kernel?
A: If you have flashed CWM, and you have backup before you flash this kernel, you can choose (advance restore) to restore only the boot.img. Alternative method is to download the rooted stock kernel here (flash through Odin3 PDA): http://www.mediafire.com/?guhb64qy3h6sang
*** I will keep updating this kernel to make it better and better ***
*** Finally, flash at your own risk ***
=====================================================================
From the Samsung Open Source web site, I have downloaded the kernel source for i9103 and made modifications to it. It is good that this phone is equipped with Tegra2 CPU such that overclocking will not cause much heat problem and I can successfully overclocked to 1.3GHz
Below are some screen shots and I will release the kernel later today as I am still testing the new kernel.
For the first version, I will add in rooting (su+superuser.apk), SIO Scheduler, 2.6.36.4 patches and some minor kernel fixes. Stay tuned
(Quadrant score is: 4275)

Great news, glad to see that there is some dev for I9103!
Do you have in mind ICS cooking?

Good news!!! I'm very happy with the normal CPU speed but it's good to see any developers for this device!!

Well, for ICS, I have downloaded the source code (haven't compiled yet...). I think porting to ICS ROM will not be too easy ... as I lack all those hardware libraries and experiences. Let's wait ICS for Galaxy S2 and see how far we can reach...
This kernel is proved to work in 2.3.4 and 2.3.5. Should also be ok for 2.3.6
thats perfect then! I'm in 2.3.4 stock with rooted kernel, I think if you provide us a rooted kernel with optional OC that would be awesome , thanks!
Great news, thanks!
So great!!! Congratulations for your work ardatdat, could you confirm the ROM version? 2.3.4/2.3.5...

Thank you! I flashed it and works great. Although there isn't anything this phone was slow at, so only the various benchmark apps tell me it is actually faster!
Thanks for the Root kernel with OC.

Thanks alot.
PS : Does this kernal work with ANY stock rom for 9103 ?

Try some Live wallpaper and Gallery widget slideshow, and you will notice lag, but I don't think that's related to CPU clock. Not to mention that color palette is scaled down to 65000 colors (just look at the Microbes Live Wallpaper).

There is a CWM version 4.0.0.2 that works with the phone. I just found (and flashed) today myself.
I found it at a Chinese forum and at a Spanish forum. Downloaded from both and had the same flashable tar (checked with diff), though different apks (which I didn't install anyway).
Try it from here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Q33VEDF0
I am terribly sorry but I can't find from which forum I originally got this link. It isn't mine work of course.
After flashing with ODIN (the same way you flashed the rooted kernel), to enter into recovery turn on the phone and while it is on the Galaxy R boot screen, press voulme up and home together. Do not press them before powering on because your phone won't turn on, instead it may block and you will have to remove the battery for some seconds.

I'm really a terrible teacher. If people want to learn kernel development, I'm not the best teacher. I lack the effort, can't explain stuff right, and I'm too busy in my personal life to dedicate myself to teaching people. Sorry.

Both. It's going to be a normal 2.6 kernel, but it's going to get tuned up over time. It's usable for people right now, but I'd call this a stock kernel in it's current state.
If anyone wants to know what I'm working on, I'm working on MTD for this kernel.
This is the current status:
Code:
[ 4.945831] Muxed OneNAND 512MB 1.8V 16-bit (0x50)
[ 4.950927] OneNAND version = 0x0242
[ 4.955993] Scanning device for bad blocks
[ 4.960266] onenand_bbt_read_oob: from = 0x00000000, len = 2
[ 4.966247] onenand_bbt_wait: read timeout! ctrl=0x0400 intr=0x8000
[ 4.972808] onenand_scan_bbt: Can't scan flash and build the RAM-based BBT
[ 4.980255] OneNAND driver initializing
That's it trying to start the OneNAND, and I'm pretty sure that's right. It is a 512MB OneNAND and I haven't had to tell it that so it figured it out by itself. I just need to figure out why it's not able to read it. Apart from that, this is good progress considering I only just started.
If you can get it to work properly on the value packs that would be great. The older universal kernels have bugs such as wifi errors and random reboots, even though I still face wifi errors on the stock kernel(because of root? I have no idea)

The WiFi issues are caused by modmagic. The WiFi drivers are supplied in /system/lib and are paired to a kernel. It would be a matter of taking a paired dhd.ko and putting it in the kernel itself rather than in the /system.

Ya all the kernel in present situation are based on xxkpq sources having universal feature. But on value packs like XXLF2, DDLF2 etc these universal kernel dont work properly & have errors like above said.

For that you'll have to wait and watch.
There were requests from senior members in other thread for features that weren't available on current kernels. I guess that's what prompted Hillbeast to create this kernel for this device. Also, I guess in developing this kernel, he might find out what exactly is going wrong with 3.x and we might get both working.

IF YOU HAVE A DEFY PLUS OR MS2 Flash the PlusMS2Fix.zip (see attachments) directly after flashing the 20120919 rom. Forgot to update the Defy Plus PAPreferences and add it in for the MS2. Oops. I was in such a hurry to finally upload this I forgot the most important part to do. I'm also in the process of building new roms directly based off the PA Repos (I was using a merged PA\Quarx frameworks\base & settings but its starting to cause glitches -- I'll be cherry-picking from Quarx and Tezet as necessary now). I'll start uploading the new roms late tonight when I lay down to sleep.

I wonder how long would it take on this rom to show contact details on incoming call? On CM10 I got more than 10 seconds.
First of all thanks for giving MS2 Paranoid android! Looks very promising... now one question, is this for use with GB kernel right? there is backward compatibility with froyo kernel?
Thanks! Looks working fine, but it feels little bit slower than tezet's CM10.

At least works with GB UK kernel.
Try it
I would like try it.
What about the limitations. Is there any important to know ?
Thanks a lot for this rom.
edit: Read on first post now. Rsrsrs
When I try change display configurations, I get FC all time
Just a useful info
How to set the workspace mode
How to change an apps Layout and size
waiting for my GS3, and after I'll try it. Looks very beautiful, and my MS2 will be a new device with it.

Noticed that also "Additional system updates" causes FC. And ParanoidAndroid Settings, when I try change youtube's dpi, every other app works fine on settings.

i cant overclock it to 1.2 ghz even tried MS2 toolbox, bootmenu seems to persist at 1Ghz. someone knows if i can use motodoido patch from CM9? or have another idea?

Well, it runs on Froyo Kernel for the Defy and Bravo . It may run on the MS2 Froyo kernel as well although the init scripts may need to be modified. Try and let us (me) know.

No, not yet. This release is the last of my full pull from Quarx roms. I'm working on using the PA repos with cherry-picks. The blind pulls are what is causing the FC's in the settings menu.

While not the best of options, you could manually edit /system/bootmenu/config/overclock.conf & /system/bootmenu/scripts/overclock.sh.
I looked at the Motodoido CM90807 patch and it pretty much does that -- I'd delete smartass.ko from the patch since that'll overwrite the smartassV2 I put in PA. That said, it shouldn't be a problem. (I'd seriously delete cpufreq_smartass.ko since it has some bugs --all roms-- and keep V2). Also, don't select use "Use Default Values" in the Bootmenu after flashing his patch -- he didn't tweak that part of the script and its set up for 3Vsel Froyo Kernel.
If you take smartassV2 from the DX pack and rename it to smartass it can be selected and tweaked from the bootmenu -- an easy-peasy mod and you don't even have to tweak any scripts or config files for it to work.
//Also, go to the PA thread at the Defy Forums -- They're really good at pointing out whats wrong and buggy; and since all the roms share almost the exact same code, what they report will be revelant to you guys as well (except for all the damn battery crap...you'd think the Plus users would find the correct battery files they need and keep them handy if they flash lots of roms).
And if anyone here has ran V6 and patched the jar, post it here and I'll make it into a flashable zip for evyerone to use. I'll also install the scripts to /system/xbin for ease-of-use. I'd do it myself, but I flashed about 4-5 roms yesterday and already 2 today. I'm on CM7 and can't do it myself.

thanks, good to know. i'll just wait until there's a more stable release until i do make my switch.
until then, can't wait to give this a try. :good:
There's a flashable zip with a patched services.jar if you want to try out V6 on PA.

I'm used to tweaking that part of overclock.sh so all users have to do is apply the default values and they'll be using what I set -- its to counter the addon.d script that backs up your previous OC settings.
A bit of a fix -- if you flashed that V6 patch yesterday it included the fixed su binary recommended on the V6 thread (in the StarterPack). Apparently it doesn't play nice with JB roms and you'll lose root if its flashed. I have a new one up with out the V6 su binary. Its located here
Everything seems to be working fine, just same smooth as CM10 from tezet, but i'm having problems with google play store, i can't install apps because it shows as incompatible, must be because hybrid DPI size configurations... but anyone knows a solution or im i doing something wrong? im using the default DPI 240 for google play store, but it persist to shows apps as incompatible...

Presenting,
☛ Android Open Source Project aka AOSP ICS 4.0.4 on i9003.
☛ This is pure ICS which I have built from Google's Source code. (As seen in Nexus Devices)
☛ This is not a daily driver yet, and it is just an initial release for Beta testers to test and give me feedback, logs about bugs and other stuff.
☛ I will work on this now and try to make it as stable and smooth as possible for daily use!
☛ I also plan to add many more features to this in near future!
What Works:
Calls (Send/Receive)
SMS
Mobile Data
Camera
Bluetooth
Wifi
Make Calls/Send/Receive SMS
Sound
Touchscreen (Fully working)
Vibration
Video Recording(Partially)
Bugs/What doesn't work:
HW Composer (Same as CM9) {Would probably need 3.0 Kernel or dsscomp + ION}
Video Playback(untested)
USB Mass Storage
Addition Features:
My Own Kernel with:
ClockWorkMod Recovery 6
ZRAM Enabled
TUN/CIFS built in
XZ Compressed Kernel (++speed)
Optimized CRC32 Algorithms
Optimized ARM RWSEM Algorithms
ZCACHE Enabled.
Lots of crap Samsung Code cleaned up.
Fixed loads of warnings..... (Still lots to go)
If you wish to try it out, head to the Downloads Section below!
PS: For newbies, this is not CM9. It is built completely from a new Source.
I know I cannot work on this alone! So if you wish to help me , feel free to do so!

ZRAM Enabled
TUN/CIFS built in
Optimized CRC32 Algorithms
Optimized ARM RWSEM Algorithms
ZCACHE Enabled.
are those required right now ?
cus i think the simpler things are the better they are to debug .. m just asking bro .. don kill me for this althought i think u will on facebook
another question ...What about kernel 3.0?you will try to make functionally HW Composer without kernel 3.0?
can I delete contacts on this rom

@shriom
This is the same Kernel which I was porting ION and dsscomp on , and it has lots of crap samsung code cleaned up. Besides, the other patches won't affect the 'debugging' process.
@Mamica
hillbeast is working on Kernel 3.0 , if he manages to do that HW Composer should be easy. For now , Since 3.0 is not there , I will try some other methods (like back porting stuff) to possibly try and make HW Composer to work (In contact with dhiru) .
@nikhil
Yes you can
On another note, I looked through RIL files today, and I could possibly fix it up in a few days. Thanks to dhiru for guiding me. Since I am a bit new to building android.(kernels are my strength )

P A C ALL IN 1
DESCRIPTION
The struggle to find the rom you need is over. Some people like CyanogenMod 10, Some prefer AOKP, Some like the advantages of Paranoid Android
To cure your rom hunt we have come up with the P A C man Rom.
PACman is a unique rom.
We have picked the best features from CM10, Aokp and PA and combined them in a single rom so you get the experience you deserve
To enjoy the features of every available project without the hassle of flashing regularly.
The Rom is rock stable for an average user but keep in mind the Rom is in WIP stage so expect some minor hickups but we are trying our best to resolve these issues

NOTES
- Gapps
Google let the source code available, but the google apps (google play, gmail, etc) must not be included in the rom. In order to really use your device, you must add them by flashing them.
Three possibility :
1) Multipack v3, allows to add 4.1 apps, but also to specify your gps region, change the launcher, the font etc.. flash it in the recovery, and use the touch menu from AROMA
2) 4.1.2 gapps : the complete and official gapps (85 Mo)
3) Minimal 4.1.2 gapps : the minimal version (11Mo)
4) use h1n1's gapps for CM10
- Paranoid add-on :
It adds the paranoid settings, with the possibility to specify plenty of settings per app, like the type of display (tablet/phone) the dpi etc.. It is really a great addition.
It is not included by default in the rom as molesarecoming and D4rKn3sSyS, the PA devs have asked not to implement their work in other ROM.
I would have continue to develop only PA if it was still maintained, but the Paranoid team split, with a new branch created AOSPA, which is not available and only developed on nexus. The old branch with CM stuff is not updated.
If the zip does not add, you can unzip it, take the apk and put it in /system/app, and chmod it 644.
That's why i took the decision to put the add-on, in order to benefit from these functions. But the members that deserves your gratitude are molesarecoming and D4rKn3sSyS.
- Backup and restore in recovery :
To make a working backup, please select the tar format in the backup menu of CWM 6.x.x. recovery. This one works well.
Really nice work. :good:

strange, Razielwolfy told me that it was not working ..
this rom is very great but it seem to be lagging in front of CM10
with the same app installed i have 59 mb free ram with PAC and i have around of 100mb free with cm10
i've added some tweaks by hand on the last build, and they might not be so great, in addiiton of V6-supercharger
otherwise, just go back to the previous build, with the mods

Do remember that the free amount of ram you still have has nothing to do with how fast your phone is this is a common mistake people make!
The apps that stay in your RAM are staying there until you need RAM for another app and your device will automatically clear some idle apps to make space for the other app..
Then what is so great about this?
Well if you launch a app again which was still in the RAM memory it starts a lot faster. So basicly its pretty health for a device to be completely out of RAM :highfive:
For people who are interested in more read this article
http://www.rt-embedded.com/blog/archives/linux-memory-consumption/
(note that Android is based on linux for those who didn't know)
i know that but in the reality this rom is less reactive!
i have tried the previous version and it was the same problem
less reactive than what ? previous version with or without mods.. be constructive please
it is less reactuve than cm10 but it is the same as the previous build
i am sad because i prefer the look of pac like in menu or web browser

Hmmm.... I'm about to flash the latest PAC build, but I'm using the first one now. I have to say that it's very smooth and fast and responsive on my phone. Matter of fact that's one thing that been a fact since the very first rom build Ben put out. Since just about all that have tried this rom don't have the same experience as you, maybe something happening during the flashing process or maybe even something running in the background is causing your glitches. Just a thought.

i t s not the first time i flashed rom but i noticed on pac rom the running process parameter takes 40mb of ram
Weird I had the opposite feeling with those roms.
CM10 felt very sluggish for me and looked like it had trouble running on my phone
PAC rom however runs smooth like a ICS rom would run its the best and fastest JB rom I have seen till now (although I haven't tried MIUI yet)
here s antutu score
and ı cant make setting ui to 200 dpi m changed it to phone ui but ı cant set dpi bigger i want 200 dpi on pa setting its possible but on pac ıt s not possible :/

Well all I can say is I'm using the Jan 8th release now. Smooth as glass. Extremely responsive. No lag,no stutter, no nothing to hinder navigating the rom. I have missed a few pages, so I'll ask if anyone else is reporting this issue.

i use the first release of pac rom for ot995, so far no problems. i do experience some lag, but it might be of apps installed (like viber, facebook and other apps that stay active even if screen is locked). i downloaded the today release, and i'm about to try it (saw v6 supercharge in changelog )
ı ll take paranoid prefences apk and take system now m changing setting dpi hehe
