I tested out the microphone in calls and I have to say it is pretty quiet and dull sounding.
Also in videos, everytime the mic turns on you hear a random noise besides the actual sound that is recorded.
Can anyone confirm that?

Yup. I can't speak for the phone call part of it, but I am having the same issue everyone on this page is having, regarding video recording sound...

Hello,
when i get a call or call someone my microphone volume is very low, so no one can here me. If i blow in to the microphone or speak loud and directly in it the other side hears it, but with very low volume.
If i record audio with WhatsApp everything is fine. Factory-reset hasn't solved the problem.
Do you guys know what to do to fix this?
Greetings,

I got the opposite issue, while recording a video the audio is fine but on whatsapp and calls its low. Changed roms and every single one is the same, I wonder if there is any setting we can poke into.
Anyone please?
Hey guys,
everytime i record a video or a voicemail, i notice that the microphone makes loud clicking noises at the beginning of the video/voicemail. thats pretty annoying.
someone else encountered this?
Anyone else have problems when recording a video with sound that there is a ticking sound? like there is some kind of static on the mic.
first i thought my mic was broken when hearing higher pitched sounds, but everything is normal using the recording tool or recording sound in for example whatsapp.
When I'm using the audio recorder app or the camera video recorder on my RN7Pro, the microphone picks up a lot of static noise even when it's very quiet. Could anyone do a simple recording test to confirm if this is occurring for you as well? I'm not sure if this is normal. The amount of static noise is quite overwhelming.
Thanks in advance!
Just tried sound recorder, and yes, there is a substantial amount of static present.

Thank you for confirming this issue! The thing is this doesn't occur at all during calls due to the background noise cancellation which works really really well. I've made a few phone calls and the person on the other end of the line can't hear any sort of static noise whatsoever except my voice.
Xiaomi should definitely implement a noise reduction feature for audio/video recording and fix this issue via OTA.
hi
just got a new xperia 5. The phone has some really bad audio distortion when video calling with Whatsapp or speaker phone voice calls. It sounds like the audio volume is far too high for the speakers causing lots of crackling and distortion. Its as if a speaker is plugged into an amp that is far too powerful for it. Has anyone else experienced this, or got any suggestions on how to fix it? Or do I need to send the phone back.
I've tried turning off dynamic vibration and dolby atmos, but no difference.
The issue only seems to occur with WhatsApp video or voice calls on speaker phone. It doesn't happen for standard GSM calls even on speaker phone or if playing a recorded message or video through whatsapp. Other apps don't seem to have any problems.
In WhatsApp I can kind of fix the problem by turning the volume down by about 30% but then the speaker volume is a bit too quiet.
