[Q] Nexus 5 Dialer diaplay on receive - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
When I receive an incoming call on my phone, the top third of the screen shows the callers picture. However, the bottom part of the image is cut in half and not scaled to fit the area. The area below this point is all black with just a picture of a phone in a circle at the bottom half of the screen. I then slide the phone to the right to reveal the options to answer the call.
I've not had a nexus before but have ran third party AOSP ROM's and I'm sure the top half used to display the caller picture in full or at least the silhouette person for contacts without pictures rather than cropping them off. I'm also sure that a circle animation used come outwards from the centre of the phone icon when the phone rang to indicate how to answer.
Can someone confirm what I should see when I receive a call as I'm sure mine is not right. Do you see the circle animation on receipt of calls? Here is the screen shot.
Thanks
Steve

Resolved. Factory reset sorted the issue.

[Q] Phone icon on Droids -- can I remove it?

I know this sounds odd, but it there a way to configure the Droid so that the phone icon doesn't appear at the bottom of the home page?
Here's the deal: my wife and I both have Moto Droids and she has numerous games and videos on her phone which our toddler plays. Unfortunately, he will (too often) hit the phone icon and get into the call log. Then, of course, he hits an icon and dials one of our friends... not a good thing when he calls your pastor at 6:00 am when the pastor is on vacation!
Is there a way to lock only the phone icon, or to remove it from the home screen. My wife doesn't make that many calls and she's fine with having to get into the applications screen to make a call, or having to enter a 4 digit code in order to get to the call log screen...
Any ideas?

How are SMS notifications displayed in ICS?

I've put ICS on my developer phone to play about with (not the Nexus) and I was wondering how it looks to people when they get an SMS message.
After coming across this screenshot, I thought that when you got a text, the contact picture of your friend would be displayed at the left, as is the case for Andy Rubin at the bottom.
However, I find mine are displayed like Hiroshi Lockheimer, with just the icon on a patterned background.
I really like the little contact picture, so is it displayed this way on the Nexus S or is there a way to turn it on? Why would Google show 2 different things in their screenshots?
Cheers.
Mine looks like the one with Hiroshi too. This person has a picture in my contacts as well. I didn't test it with her GoogleChat.
Same here, I get the sms icon, no contact pictures. Same for google talk. And I was wondering if this feature didn't make it in the release.
Thanks for checking that out for me! It's odd because I have a picture set too but mine displays the same...I'd have thought it would display the contact photo.
As far as I can see from that screenshot, Hiroshi and Andy are both texts? Maybe it's a third party app...does Handcent do that maybe?
Talk displayed the default picture. Could be my slow connection? Then when I clicked the notification it showed her picture.
Has anyone got the picture displayed for SMS notifications? It seems like a cool feature.
Same thing happens with my Nexus S too....tried multiple AOSP builds of ICS and the official release and still no contact pictures in the sms notifications It does show for gtalk notifications though. I have tried searching for a fix but haven't found anything yet.

Facebook status quickly disappears off dialer screen...??

Does anyone know a way to make the facebook status stay after the call starts ringing? I'm talking about the one that scrolls across the bottom of the dialer screen, when placing a call.. Any idea?
When you call someone their facebook status flashes very briefly across the screen, below their picture, but then goes away when it starts ringing. It isn't there long enough for me to read it ever. This is stupid. And there has to be a way to make this last longer..

[Q] Incoming Caller ID Picture is Cut in Half?

Hi,
Whenever I have a incoming call and that person has a picture associated in my contacts, their picture get cut in half. I can see the top of the picture with the number and name. The bottom portion where you slide left to decline, right to accept, and up to text, there's no image behind it. It is just black. But when I answer or decline the call, the entirety of the picture is loaded. This problem doesn't show up when I'm making an outgoing call, just incoming. Anyone have experience the same issue or with any knowledge on how to fix this is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Thats how Google designed it ever since Jellybean. No idea who thought that it looked good.
Its a relatively simple fix. Someone just needs to decompile Phone.apk or whatever the current dialer is called and change the black box color to transparent.

fullscreen caller pic by default

hi all, just wondering if there was a way to make the caller picture fullscreen instead of a circle even for unkown numbers, been looking arround to see if it was possible to edit the dialer apk and replace the circle with a simple black solid background but without success.
well, two days and not a sign of an answer or a suggestion!!..looks to me it's not a possible thing to do,so i'll stick to that small ugly circle that appears everytime I call or they call me.
I've noticed that favorite contacts have full screen pictures, others are with small circle.
yes indeed, favorite contacts have that option, the thing is how to make it fullscreen by default for all callers even those that are not on our contacts list.the incallui would have a cleaner and sleeker look I guess.
