Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone else I'd experiencing problems with Google Search. When I search using the search bar everything seems to work well at first. However, after prolonged use the search function stops working. It does not recognise any voice commands nor typing commands.
I have noticed that in settings ~ apps ~ cached processes Google Search is there. Upon stopping the cached process Google Search returns to working order.
Can anyone shed a light in this issue please? What's the best way to contact Google about such a problem...where can I make a bug report?
Thanks!

Doesn't seem like there is a specific forum for google voice (there probably should be)
Recently I have the most annoying of issues. Seems google voice will not open. I did the usual trouble shooting. Uninstalling google voice, deleting the data, re installing from market several times. Still has the issue where I click on the icon, it flashes up, then the app disappears. Its kind of like giving me a taste. Trouble is I am on prepaid and completely using google voice so this is essential for me.. It literally takes me about 20 times of clicking the icon for it the app to pop up and stay up.
Any thoughts on this? I have no other issues with any other apps. Well once yesterday messaging did this, but it only flashed once..
I installed an app called watchdog lite earlier this week. Thinking perhaps it was that app I added google voice to the "white list" but it wont stay up. Most annoying. I have no other task killer (ATK, etc) or anything. And actually watchdog just monitors CPU usage, will not kill apps.
Thanks!
For future reference this issue seems like a permissions fix is the solution.

I've heard from multiple people that they've gotten the Google experience launcher to work on a Droid DNA like I have, but I can't even open the launcher without it saying that Google search has stopped. I've seen the fix where you change the language, do a voice search and then immediately change it back, but Google search and the default voice search app both crash before I even have time to do this. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd really love to get this working!
I have the same problem when I go to my homescreen, I am greeted with "Unfortunately, Google Search has stopped."
I cleared cache and data, problem still persists.
I'm unable to see my App Drawer so anything I have to open will be impossible.
I can still access my Settings though.
Hello all,
I have recently received my Nexus 5 and everything seems to be great. However, I have encountered a major (to me anyway) problem. It seems that Google Search from the persistent bar has a habit of freezing. To be more specific, it works fine for a while upon a boot. However, after prolonged use the search function becomes unresponsive. I am still able to select the bar but search does not work.
I have narrowed down a hint to what may be causing this. In the running apps section of the setting, I see Google Search is in cashed processes. When I select to stop this process Google Search resumes its normal function. Can anyway relate or provide advice to what may be causing this?
I've been experiencing an issue since the Pie update. My home page is google.com. I scroll down to the settings at the bottom (I'm signed out) and under search history, I check off "Do not save searches". This randomly changes itself back to the default settings. Nothing seems to trigger it. Sometimes it will be the next time I open the browser, sometimes it will be after a few uses. Sometimes it will even show recent searches, and I go back to the settings and "Do not save searches" is STILL checked off. Most times it's checked "Save searches" though.
I've tried logging into my google account, and doing it that way. Recent search history is paused, but I still experience the issue where when I click the search bar, it shows my recent searches. This isn't 100% of the time, but at least 50% of the time anyway. It's annoying. I've already searched that stuff, I don't need to search it again. I've cleared the cache for the app, the data, etc. Nothing seems to be permanently make these settings stick. Anyone else experiencing this? I swear I had this problem in the past, and there was a fix for it, but everything I've come up with so far tells me to either log into my google account and freeze search history, or just disable it using the method I'm using. If anyone can steer me in the right direction, it would be appreciated.
Thanks
Hello everyone! Hope you are all doing well.
I received my Galaxy Watch 4 yesterday and decided to debloat it using the following guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/debloat-galaxy-watch-4.4324147/.
From then until this morning, the Google Assistant was working completely fine, no hiccups at all. However, once I tried enabling it this morning, it just abruptly crashes. To clarify, I either use the shortcut or open through the app, a black screen comes up and then it reverts back to the previous screen. It is set as my default assistant and everything. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it twice to no avail as well.
Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
UPDATE:
After having the thought of using the command adb logcat -b crash #default, I was able to locate the reasons for the crashes. Previously, I uninstalled both the alarm and timer apps from my watch. However, if these apps aren't available, Google Assistant will simply crash.
After reinstalling these apps, the assistant finally works! Hopefully this is helpful to anyone that was experiencing any similar issues.

I can confirm this is what also happened to me.
Watch 5, had disabled most of samsung apps (alarm and timer) - assistant stopped working.
Read this and restore those two apps. All good.
Funny enough, I had the same issue back in January when the assistant app was updated. I tried troubleshooting and after a reset, it still wouldnt work (not sure why though. reset should reinstall all apps), so I just settled with using the previous assistant version and not updating it.
Came across this and it also worked for me on the latest assistant version. Shame that I have to have these useless duplicate apps, since samsung alarm doesnt sync with my pixel clock alarms. Have to use google clock, which is fine, but still.
